Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone has a lovely day and those of you with children haven't been woken too early.

I'm looking forward to documenting the day in photos as bump's first Christmas to show them when they are older! Xmas Grin

MoonlightMojitos · 25/12/2016 08:16

Merry Christmas everyone :)

Hope everyone has a lovely day! Xx

DoubleCarrick · 25/12/2016 09:16

Good morning all, merry Christmas!!

Family aren't coming until about 12.30 so have put the turkey in, had a coffee and a pastry, opened some Prezzies from Santa and am now back in bed. DH has gone back to sleep Grin

This will be our last quiet Christmas for many years, I hope and I intend to make the most of it!

I was up much of the night with contractions of some description and period pains but it's all tailed off now. I'm guessing that's false labour? I still think I have another couple of weeks to wait but my body is certainly getting ready! I was also having contractions yesterday at the supermarket and was getting some awfully strange looks!

XxBecxX · 26/12/2016 06:19

Had a lovely day, really cozy x
Glad lots of you girls made the most of your last quiet crimbo lol
Hubby woke me up accidentally at 5am! I'm knackered but awake now, typical, they are doing a cheap movie at the odeon at 10.30 so i think I shall see how I feel and maybe take the brats!

So exciting carrick!!!!!
Your deffo gearing up by the sounds of it, sounds like contractions as Braxton hicks aren't painful just tight and uncomfortable, also look out for that feeling you get when you have your period, as you cervix opens its very tender and I always decribe it like you've been kicked by a horse lol
If you feel that plus the contractions ooooh!!! Keep us informed xxx

Sah1987 · 26/12/2016 07:53

I've got to be at work at 9am! Why oh why do people want diy stores open on Boxing Day!
Left my OH & DD at his brothers in Berkshire and drove back to Kent at midnight last night, so don't get to see them until Wednesday. However it does come with an uber small silver lining. I have my 20 week scan on Thursday morning, so a little excited!!

Hope you're not all grumpy like me! Have a great Boxing Day x

jpeg28 · 26/12/2016 07:57

Sah that's rubbish!! I used to be in retail many years ago and had to do the dreaded Boxing Day sales. They really should not open so that everyone can be with their families!!

I'm off to the inlaws today... 3/4 hour drive followed by the MIL being ridiculously over excited about the baby and she will probably tell me I've put on too much weight... and I can't even get wasted to deal with it! Yipppeeee!!

XxBecxX · 26/12/2016 12:43

That's pants sah but yey!! Your scan is so close, there's lots of us on this thread that are just weeks apart!
My word though this morning the baby was kicking me and making my stomach actually move, I'm so overwhelmed that he's that big already!
Please take a look at my bump pic, is that not the largest 23week belly you've ever seen?
Lol eeek!
I'm honestly hoping that I grow into my belly and don't get much bigger lol
I've still only put on a maximum of about 5lb if that.

Bec I think that's a really nice bump, mine looks bigger after a meal lol.

We had Xmas at mil's and round two tomorrow with fil's family. It was exhausting but thankfully they're all lovely.

XxBecxX · 26/12/2016 14:19

Thanks fuzzy and another 20 weeks scan coming soon, so exciting xxx

jpeg28 · 26/12/2016 16:03

bec that's a lovely bump!! Also... 5lb!!!!! I have put on about 17/18!!!! Pretty sure xmas has contributed to a lot of that! Oops!
Just been for a long walk though so hopefully that has helped with the xmas over eating!!

fuzzy and sah not long until your scans! So exciting!

elpinguino · 27/12/2016 08:53

Hello! Please may I join? I have just found out I'm expecting baby number 1. I had a miscarriage at 5 and a half weeks last month, I can't quite believe I've fallen again. I'm excited but so so nervous too. Christmas has been full of mixed emotions. I would have been 9 weeks with first pregnancy and we'd planned to tell parents about it on Christmas Day. Of course that wasn't to be. But then I'd been having some strange possible early preg symptoms over the last week - strange and vivid dreams, super hungry, very sleepy (but had convinced myself it was just because I wanted to pregnant again!) so tested on Christmas morning. I think there was a line, with hindsight and several minutes of turning it every which way and squinting under different lights. But yesterday the line was clear as day! So here I am, no idea really how far on I am, can only be 4-5 weeks ish at most. And now just hoping that this little one will hang on in there.

I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas!

littlepooch · 27/12/2016 09:25

Hello all, please can I join? I got my bfp today and am feeling very anxious! I've had 3 MCs, my most recent a Mmc in June this year so am currently in a state of sheer terror. I do have DD who is helping keep me distracted but think I need the support of ladies who understand what this early stage is like.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas x

elpinguino · 27/12/2016 09:45

Hi little, congratulations and sorry for your losses, but lots of positive wishes for this little one! I've only had one mc but I'm still so scared that the same will happen again. I am doing my best to relax (as much as possible), tell my brain to stop worrying, and be optimistic. It's good to have someone to share the journey with.

NetflixandBill · 27/12/2016 09:46

Welcome elpinguino and littlepooch. Those early weeks are so hard! Hope this thread can give you some support!

purpleviolet1 · 27/12/2016 12:24

Welcome! The early weeks are difficult but we have all been there and we take strength from each other on this thread. I had 2 mc this year (12 weeks and 6.5 weeks) and I'm now 26 weeks. Still a while to go but I'm beginning to feel optimistic now Smile

jpeg28 · 27/12/2016 13:02

Welcome elping and littlepooch and congratulations. Just like the others said, the early days are such a worry but we are all here for you. I couldn't have coped without this thread!

24 weeks today here! Not actually feeling too good and still panicking about lack of movements!

Anyone have any tips on a good changing bag?? I'm thinking of taking the ghds my OH bought me for xmas (£129... waste of money when I already have some!) for a changing bag... how my life is changing!!!

Hope you've all had a restful few days, I think my bump is now 50% chocolate!

INeedNewShoes · 27/12/2016 13:35

The double bump I was whingeing about has disappeared and popped into one big bump! It seems all it needed was a Christmas dinner Grin

jpeg - I gather that some babies just don't move very much. My sister-in-law was constantly nudged and kicked by my niece in the womb but then my nephew hardly moved at all. Both kids are fine and healthy. Try not to worry.

Welcome Little and elpinguino - great news about your BFPs Smile

The early weeks are tough, but it really does get easier as you reach each milestone. I'm 21 weeks now and can't believe I'm here! (I've lost three pregnancies this year: two of which at 5 weeks which didn't affect me really but then a MMC at 11 weeks which was tough).

I thought that I was going to be paranoid all the way through my pregnancy but things definitely got a bit better after the 12-week scan, then even easier after hearing the heartbeat at 16 weeks. I'm definitely still cautious but the awful sense of doom has lifted now.

MoonlightMojitos · 27/12/2016 14:57

Hope everyone had a good Christmas!

Welcome elpenguino and pooch and congratulations. I can't say anything the others havnt already (and I'm still massively anxious myself unfortunately) but everyone here is a great support :)

I had my midwife appointment last week and she wouldn't listen to the heartbeat :(. She said she doesn't until after 25 weeks and will from then on. A bit gutted as it seems everyone else on my due dates thread seemed to get to hear it. I have my doppler anyway so I have heard myself, I think I'd be very upset otherwise. 18 weeks tomorrow! Can't believe it's gone so fast now. The first 13 weeks felt like forever but this last month has flown by, definately think keeping busy with xmas has helped with that. Just counting down the days til 20 week scan now and then hoping to get a few bits and bobs in the sales if not too late!

Yay on the bump newshoes! Will you be posting a photo now :D?

Mine is definately a proper little bump now. At first I think it was mostly food lol but now it's harder and stays right there when I lie down!

becs 5lbs is amazing and your bump looks lovely! I weighed myself this morning and I've now put on 19lbs already! (Snap jpeg haha but youre 6 weeks ahead of me!)

Wondering how carrick is doing? Maybe those contractions kept going in to something?!!

jpeg hope the MIL wasn't too bad haha.

XxBecxX · 27/12/2016 15:15

Welcome new ladies and congrats!
The army weeks are horrendous, there's no other way to describe them better!
You just have to keep you head in the game and muddle through somehow, asking your gp's to refer you to your local EPU's or looking into whether you can self refer is always a good idea as you can have some extra tests for support, there's also early scans aswell as bloods.

jpeg28 · 27/12/2016 16:19

moonlight my MW was the same so I still haven't heard the heartbeat! I don't have a Doppler either but I'll see her in a week so getting quite excited and anxious to hear it!

MiL has been ok! She fussed over me a lot but I'm trying to stay patient with her!! Home Thursday (thank god!)

elpinguino · 27/12/2016 17:15

Thanks everyone you're all so lovely!

jpeg I'm with you on the chocolate - I'm using the BFP as a reason to eat anything and everything, and I dont have any kind of bump to hide it Blush

Thanks newshoes it's so exciting hearing about scans and heartbeats, I'm just trying to stay positive that this one will make it that far. I'm sure worrying about it is part of being a parent, from here on its our job to worry, it's just about taking it a step at a time isn't it.

Hi moonlight and thanks for the welcome. I guess the midwife is just dealing with her own confidence in how sure she is that she'll find the heartbeat - I work in a hospital and I know there's a rule in some a&e' for example that they won't listen to feral heartbeats just in case they don't hear one that is there and cause a lot of unnecessary worry. It's great that you've heard it yourself though, and it's not long till the 20 week scan now (who am I kidding, 2 weeks is ages isn't it!) and it shouldn't be too long til you can feel movements maybe!

Thank you bec I'm so lucky that my local EPU were amazing when I had the MC - they don't normally see self referrals but they let me go in and did bloods and then a scan the next day and dealt with it all as well as could be hoped really. They've said they'll do a reassurance scan at around 7 weeks this time, not that I'm exactly sure when 7 weeks will be but I'll give them a call tomorrow.

littlepooch · 27/12/2016 19:41

Thank you for the welcome everyone, I can already tell I am going to be happy and feel comfortable on this thread so thank you. As my MC werent consecutive apparently I'm not entitled to any extra monitoring or scans but I will ask again when I see the gp to refer me to the midwife. The last 2 pregnancies we paid for an early scan as I just couldn't wait until 12 weeks to find out if things were OK. I don't think I have ever rushed to the loo as much as I have done today. I'm convinced AF is about to start and panicking about every little cramp or niggle. I need to try and chill out and surely this can't be good for me or bean.

jpeg re changing bags I can't recommend pacapods enough. Expensive but worth every penny I have used mine everyday since DD was born and 13 months later it still looks as good as new and I'm still using it. Lots of my friends regretted not just getting one from the start.

knorrig · 27/12/2016 19:55

Happy Christmas all, hope you had good ones.
Welcome to the new ladies, glad you're here - I recognise you from the other thread littlepooch. Great hand holding and advice on this thread!

I'm now coming up to 15 weeks, we've just moved house so i need to join a new doctors and get a new midwife - not to bothered though as the original one didn't give a warm feeling!

MoonlightMojitos · 27/12/2016 20:12

It's my birthday tomorrow and I've just been naughty and opened a present early (one from work). They got me... a new mum pack for my hospital bag. Nipple cream, breast pads and maternity pads. Hmm. The best of intentions obviously but it feels so early to be thinking about that! I'm just trying to get through one day at a time at the moment and don't want to buy anything until after my 20 week scan!

jpeg glad she hasn't been too bad! Both my mum and dp's are both ridiculously excited and over the top and can't wait to start buying things. I think as soon as we tell them the sex it'll be presents all over the place.

elpenguino I don't think I will ever stop worrying now! That's it forever, the worries will just change lol. That's really good they've said you can have an early scan too. Sounds like they've been/will be very good.

pooch it's nerve wracking isn't it. It's so common to have the cramps and twinges, I definately did and it's now moved on to shooting pains which I presume is ligaments and things are still all stretching in there. Like you said, try and relax it's all compleyely normal. It's just that we analysise every twinge because of what we've been through.

LynseyH · 27/12/2016 22:32

I need to ask the ladies in later stages a question again... movements...what are yours like now? Mine are more like her stretching around now and don't really feel any kicks as such. Is this normal? Is it cos there's less space or should I be worried it's only basic stretching or like her changing position? I can't remember from my last pregnancies!

Welcome and congratulations to the newbies!! This thread is a great place to be for support, the ladies here are great!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, ours was hectic and exhausting but really enjoyable. Partner really stepped up to the mark and helped out lots, even giving me a lie in this morning whilst he dealt with the boys. Amazing!!
