Whatser how terrifying.. I think you've just sold me on getting one. The worry is never going to end is it?!
Also, as you seem to be an experienced sling/wrap user, which ones would you recommended?
We've bought a travel system but I quite like the idea of being able to pop into town without worrying about getting round everything/everyone with the pram! They also seem useful for keeping baby close and having hands free around the house.

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 19:30

I really like the Moby wrap style slings. If you look on amazon there are various makes but they are all the same really. My dd loved being close to me and I wore her in the house so that I could free up my hands to eat lunch. Dd had colic. She cried for hours on end and the sling was a godsend. It was also nice because it stopped overbearing grandparents from taking over too. If we went out with pils my mil would insist on pushing the pram (shed cry if i said no!) or fil would just walk up and pick dd up and carry her which drove me potty. Wearing her meant they had to ask first and I could say no. I know that makes me sound a bit mean but my ils can be very overbearing.

doleritedinosaur · 21/12/2016 20:09

I have the same issue with my in laws whatser and the baby sling came in very useful that way as well, whenever I or OH wore it, it was met with cat's bum face. DS hated the pram though and they never thought about him just wanted to push the pram.

Sorry for butting in Nasch if you look on facebook there may be a sling meet up/library near you and you can try out/practice and even rent a sling/baby carrier. Can also see what one is for you.
I ended up buying a caboo close to me on ebay and there's loads of different holds, its going to be so handy with breastfeeding and running after a toddler.
I've also got an Ergo 360 for when DS was over 6 months as we love going on massive walks and it spreads the weight well.

Baby decided to flip again this evening, actually takes my breath away. I feel like I won't be able to get out the house when the time to give birth comes.

fuzzywuzzy · 21/12/2016 20:24

I've been looking at the Caboo close to me as well. Want to try out the slings as my back is quite fragile.

Also work have been really really lovely, I was given a yoga ball to sit on today instead of regular chair which was great no pain today except small of my back as I had no back rest and ended up hunching over.
They've ordered me a yoga ball chair, reasoning that it will help other pregnant women after I'm done with it. And also they were worried I might fall off the yoga ball, the chair prevents ball from rolling and has a back rest.
I'm actually looking forward to going back to work in the new year now.

doleritedinosaur · 21/12/2016 20:36

It definitely is good for bad backs fuzzy as my OH doesn't have a great one (and whines a lot) and he finds the rings distribute the weight well.
There's loads of videos on youtube about how to wear it different ways which I really need to get watching again as the instructions are a bit hard to follow/not good for baby brain.

Can't find anything I like in Boot's current sale so hoping they add to it but Mothercare are doing a sale preview and even though OH will not be happy after the whole mattress mess up I've just ordered a load of stuff for DS. There's a lot of baby outfits/joggers in their sale, if anyone is looking plus bath stuff and travel systems.

I was supposed to be looking for clothes for me for when the baby bump goes but I just end up kitting DS out every time. Anyone do that?

purpleviolet1 · 21/12/2016 20:40

If anyone is interested they have a camel coloured sola 2 (M&P) on for only £279 at the moment. Comes with carry cot and foot muff. Seems to be that colour only. A good deal though. Thinking of getting it with the maxi cosi + cabriofix base (£200 in the sale)

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 20:40

Glad I'm not the only one who feels like that dolerite! Baby wearing is brilliant - I really would recommend it.

Naschkatze · 21/12/2016 21:01

Thank you both - I'm hoping I won't have that problem with the ILs as they aren't baby people. My parents on the other hand... first grandchild so I don't know how hands on they are going to want to be! I will have a look for a sling group/meet. Would definitely be good to try some.

Glad work are being supportive Fuzzy.

I'm looking forward to getting last bits on my list in the sales. Sounds like I should get started!

LynseyH · 21/12/2016 22:30

dino I do it all the time, in shops or online. Go to get myself some bits, can't find a thing but find lots for my boys. I think they love coming home some days if they know I've been shopping!
It's also a reason I don't get money or vouchers as gifts from people, everyone knows I end up spending it on the kids when they've bought it for me :-/

doleritedinosaur · 21/12/2016 23:17

Baby wearing is the best whatser its not even as if the in laws go out much, although I get the whole "Oh we'll take them out for a hour" which doesn't help when you're breastfeeding and they're in the middle of a massive cluster feed.
Just looked back and you'll have to say if the kangaroo pouch hoody is useful!

My Dad isn't a baby person nasch which almost good so not hounded from both sides.

Aw lynsey I bet your boys do! & aw but should spend it how you want?
I am getting a huge amazon voucher from a competition but half of it is going on a wardrobe for DS's room. I should try to focus on me for rest of it.

Hope the yoga ball chair is comfy fuzzy I actually want one now haha.

Sah1987 · 21/12/2016 23:57

Thanks @mrsalanpartridge. I'll look into it. Back pain this evening but the front pain seems to have stopped. So we'ok see. I don't wanna be panicking all the way through Xmas :/

jpeg28 · 22/12/2016 08:07

I think both sets of grandparents will be quite obsessed!! It's their first grandchild and are both insanely excited!! I really want to try baby wearing and was going to get an ergo 360 with a newborn insert... anyone tried this?? Might get a wrap style one too!

doleritedinosaur · 22/12/2016 12:20

Afternoon everyone.

jpeg I've got the 360 but didn't put DS in it as a newborn as would have been hard to breastfeed & I felt it was too big.
You may find it easy though.

The wrap ones seem closer to me for first couple of months.

29 weeks today & baby is the size of a pineapple. Feels much bigger though.

MoonlightMojitos · 22/12/2016 17:48

Woah, been very busy last 2 days on here! Hope everyone is well. I've made a note of some of the prams! I was also planning on getting the close caboo so good to hear more recommendations for it :)

I have my "16 week" appointment tomorrow, I'll actually be 17+2, so hoping she has a listen to heartbeat :)

INeedNewShoes · 22/12/2016 18:20

Phew! My 20-week scan went smoothly. Its such a relief. Its starting to feel very real now!

fuzzywuzzy · 22/12/2016 18:49

Congratulations INeed, hope you can now have a fab Xmas.

I'm trying not to think about my scan in two weeks one day! (Obsessive counting going on here).

MoonlightMojitos · 22/12/2016 18:54

Congrats newshoes! Did you find out the sex? Or did you already know?

Whatsername17 · 22/12/2016 19:17

Congratulations new! Halfway there now! Took my dd to the zoo today. It was so lovely but I'm utterly knackered now! Relaxing with a becks blue in front on the tele now!

LynseyH · 22/12/2016 21:11

Yay newshoes on the scan!!
Can I just ask how the ladies in the third trimester are feeling in general? I'm now 32+6 and I'm struggling terribly. It may well be just the fact my boys are all home because of the holidays (so I don't get to nap) but I feel like hell constantly. Not ill just totally wiped out and everything is a huge effort. Thankfully my partner did the cooking tonight whilst I sat and watched as I was good for nothing!

Whatsername17 · 22/12/2016 21:18

I felt awful at the same stage. Then a little better, now at almost 36 weeks I feel heavy and waddly. Not much longer I hope!

Effy1990 · 22/12/2016 21:26

Can I just ask if peoples nausea and sickness just seemed to vanish overnight. I am currently 10+3.

I'm just worried as when I had my miscarriage I didn't have many symptoms before (no nausea etc) just a bit of tiredness and sore boobs and that all stopped and less than a week later I miscarried.

I am still tired and my boobs are still sore but the nausea and sickness have just disappeared and been replaced with constant hunger and thirst.

Please tell me this isn't the beginning of the end. I haven't even had my booking in appointment yet.

LynseyH · 22/12/2016 21:36

Maybe I'll feel better after some sleep then whatser?! I'm now in bed and staying home tomorrow to tackle the pile of washing I have before Christmas day. I have earache aswel which is making me more miserable!
effy I had and still get a constant thirst and have to have super cold drinks to combat it. I could have cried when I broke my ice cube tray! Nausea does come and go, you can have good days and bad and apparently in the early stages it's because you have hormone surges every few days, just as your feeling better (as your body adapts to the surge) a new wave of hormones will hit and you'll feel rotten again.

Stay strong x

Lynsey 30+6 and seriously regretting saying I'd work to 38 weeks! I can't get comfy to sleep at night so I'm exhausted. Also getting really bad heartburn/indigestion. So - also struggling a bit. I'm glad it's the holidays but I can imagine it's tough for you not having a break. Trying to be positive because I'm so thankful to be at this stage but it's hard at times!

Effy I was constantly hungry in the early stages and found eating helped keep nausea away. Although, it did get stronger some days. More than likely it will be back in a few days.

jpeg28 · 22/12/2016 21:54

effy mine was up and down and by 10/11weeks it seemed to get better. It does not mean it's the end at all... hang in there! Also the constant thirst... I still have that every day!!

LynseyH · 22/12/2016 22:08

Oh nasch me too on the heartburn! I thought I was getting away with it this time but it's been flaring up a lot the last few days. I tried something mildly spicy yesterday and it instantly set it off.
With 3 boys it's definitely hard work, especially as the excitement is building for them and they can't sit still. I also get the wanting to be positive and thankful, I really do, but it's tough going isn't it! I'll be thankful every day for my little one but positive, not so much! I'm fat, I ache, I'm exhausted and I'm so ready to get to labour day now!!
I truly take my hat off to you working up till 38 weeks, I know for sure I wouldn't have coped. I'm switching off now, I need sleep desperately!! Goodnight all, I hope you all have a restful and peaceful night Xmas Wink

Oh by the way, thank you for the link yesterday whatser! I really appreciate it and I'm investing straight after new year. Anything to help keep my mind at rest as I know the worry won't end when our little one arrives!
