lol whatser! That's proper nesting !!

purpleviolet1 · 21/12/2016 08:46

Ineednewshoes - could you buy the colour you aren't keen on and see if the ones you like come down? You can then maybe return the colour you aren't keen on....

INeedNewShoes · 21/12/2016 08:49

That's a possibility Purple.

I've got my scan tomorrow morning. If that goes well I'll head to the shop in the afternoon to see the pushchair (only seen it online so far) and see what the colour is like off-screen. It might be better/worse in real life!

I haven't allowed myself to look at any baby things yet as I've got serious scanxiety about the anomoly scan Confused

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 09:03

I felt the same about the 20 week scan - I hope it goes well for you. The anxiety doesn't go away if I'm honest. I'm terrified now about stillbirth or my baby having some sort of illness. Dh had a meltdown about SIDs on Monday. It's horrible. The innocence we had with dd is gone. With that in mind, try and be positive and enjoy buying things for your little one - because there will always be something to worry about. Flowers

fuzzywuzzy · 21/12/2016 09:15

INeed I think we are exactly two weeks apart in due dates. Fingers toes and everything else crossed for your anomaly scan.

I am also terrified about it, but I keep telling myself I was also terrified about the twelve week scan and we got thro that milestone. I hope and pray this scan goes well and you get to see your baby sitting with legs crossed sucking her thumb ( I remember seeing dd2 like that and it was the cutest, altho the sonographer wasn't impressed as she couldn't see everything with baby in that pose lol).

Good luck, and I hope to hear back about your shopping spree soon :)

LynseyH · 21/12/2016 09:21

Wow I feel like a proper cheap skate after reading up thread!! My travel system cost a grand total of £185. It includes everything (car seat, carry cot, rain cover, mosquito net, changing bag, apron etc) and you can choose from 50+ colours!
I'm very pleased with it, it was delivered last week. I used money saved from the pushchair to put towards a much nicer swing chair, one that is higher up with lots of different options, swing and vibrate etc.

jpeg28 · 21/12/2016 09:28

Wow whatser! I hope that happens to me... the house could do with a good clean! Let's home the nesting instinct hits me soon!

newshoes would you consider getting a second hand one?? We were very fortunate that my parents bought our pram... not sure my mum realised how expensive they were! But we were planning on getting a second hand one originally. Which one is it?

lynsey that's such a bargain!!! We have been looking at car seats that are £300!!! And that's just the car seat and base. Babies are expensive!!

doleritedinosaur · 21/12/2016 10:09

Aww Whatser that was like me with DS, I scrubbed & cleaned a 3 storey house from top to bottom. Regretted it so much day after.
Sorry you & your DH are having so much anxiety, have you looked into the angelcare monitor for when the baby sleeps to help you?

Scanixety is awful and ineed I really hope it goes well for you. I felt the same before mine but then the sonagrapher talked through every little detail & it really helped.

Aww fuzzy that scan sounds lovely, I had one where DS seemed to be waving.

I wouldn't worry lynsey I picked up DS's current pushchair for £55 & got the carry cot for it for £5 for new baby if I can't wear the sling for a bit. Really not buying much for this one unless they are a girl.
All of that for that price is amazing.

Car seats are so expensive jpeg what age group are you looking at? We spent nearly £200 on DS'a last one but it's only up to 4 years so need to get one until 12 when new baby grows out of the baby car seat. There's a place by us that you can pay monthly before you need it so that's helpful.

Hope everyone has a good day. DS is still ill with this cold so another day in. Plus need to do icing for Christmas cake & start writing my before baby list.
19 days until next scan now so it's coming up fast.

INeedNewShoes · 21/12/2016 10:10

Lynsey - to put it in perspective the pushchair is the only thing I am buying (and I think my parents want to contribute). Everything else, including all clothes, moses basket, toys, steriliser, blankets etc. are all being passed on to me from friends so the pushchair is the only thing I'm spending money on.

Its the lie-flat car seat that makes it expensive but because I will need to do a 300-mile journey on my own with the baby at 3 months its a necessity and they cost a bloomin fortune!

I would like the Jane Matrix 2 car seat which is £250 on its own. Its around £100 cheaper than the other lie-flat seats and it converts to a normal car seat so lasts longer than standard carrycot type carseats. To buy a travel system that includes the Matrix is around £600.

I also walk a lot so I'm after a pushchair with the type of wheels that can cope with paths/tracks. The cheaper pushchairs I've looked at online don't have robust enough wheels (or are plastic so are very bumpy).

If anyone can suggest an alternative that might fit the bill I'd love to spend less money!

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 10:27

Lynsey my travel system was the same price but I got it even cheaper because I accepted it being delivered in a dirty box! I'm hoping to use the sling wrap thing for the first little while anyway. Dolerite we've bought the angel care monitor. We had one for dd and it saved her life at 8 weeks when she stopped breathing. I wouldn't be without one!

doleritedinosaur · 21/12/2016 12:18

whatser that's so terrifying for you, glad the monitor worked. Must have been awful for you both.
Really hope your family has no problems this time around.

ineed sounds like you've done loads of research & robust tires are a definite must. Hope you can find the right deal.

Sainsbury's sale has started online but a lot of stuff is out of stock it seems so hope they add to it. Their baby gros are lovely.
I'm hoping Boots doesn't start before Christmas Eve.

Sah1987 · 21/12/2016 12:30

Afternoon ladies,

I've been lurking last few weeks as not had much to report except my growing bump.
I have my anomaly scan (at 19 weeks) on 29th.
I'm thinking today I might need something before that.
I've had a near on constant stabbing pain in my groin area for the last 2 hours. It doesn't feel right, but I don't know if it's just growing pains? Confused

purpleviolet1 · 21/12/2016 12:33

Lyndsey and whatser please tell me about these travel systems you have got! Which ones are they? I can't see myself using them much so don't want to spend lots of $$$ really. Like you would rather spend on other products

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 12:58

This is the amazon link to mine:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B015D428UC/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I was looking an 'Amazon warehouse deal' came up advertising the same travel system but with a box that 'didn't meet Amazon's usual standards' and had a £50 discount. When it came, the box was dirty Hmm. The items were brand new and still in the original packaging. I'm so pleased with it. It is really lovely and much easier to put up and down than the really expensive one I bought for dd.

jpeg28 · 21/12/2016 13:12

We are the same newshoes... going for a lie flat car seat as my OHs parents and family live in Devon (we are in Brighton) so I am anticipating lots of driving!
We are looking at the cybex q Aton car seat and the kiddy Luna one. Can't find anyone to actually look at them though! Want to test out how heavy they are.

whatser that sounds so scary! I think I'll get one of those monitors!

In terms of sales... boots had a few clothes half price yesterday but not a lot. Asos has started and lots of maternity stuff in the sale!

purpleviolet1 · 21/12/2016 13:13

Looks amazing! Thanks for sharing
Do you think it could be used for a girl?

Has anyone experienced this? When I walk it feels like the womb is tender, that's the only way I can describe it. Don't know if it's just the ligaments and everything stretching/ soft

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 14:50

I think so - we are having a girl so I think it will be fine. I'm not massively into buying gender specific colours anyway to be honest. I think the pain you are describing sounds like stretching. I've had it on and off throughout x

LynseyH · 21/12/2016 15:36

Copy and paste this item number into ebay and you'll see the one I bought. Now sure if the colour I bought will be what shows but it's a link! ( 131760548223 )

I didn't mean to offend anyone earlier so I hope I didn't? I love pushchairs but quite honestly just don't have enough money to buy the more expensive, this one was too good a deal to miss.

whatser your deal was great. We have a shop near to us called Jolly Tots and they do 'factory seconds' but usually it's just the box that's no good there too. I've stayed away so far as I want to buy everything!

I like the idea of the Angelsounds monitor too, which is the best to buy? They vary so much when I put it into Google, I don't know which one would be best?

jpeg28 · 21/12/2016 17:41

There is an angel sounds monitor on offer in mothercare...

http://www.mothercare.com/sensory/angelcare-ac1100-video-movement-and-sound-baby-monitor/374073.html#q=Angelcare+monitor&lang=default&start=3

Seems so expensive even with the discount! They have cheaper ones. What do people recommend??

lynsey you didn't offend me Smile I'm stupid spending so much on a pram when I could end up not liking it!!

knorrig · 21/12/2016 18:09

Hey All,
Just catching up, thanks for all your reassurances after my scan, nice to know it's normal!
Yesterday I went back for another scan (13+3) as they couldn't do measurements last week.I had to go in 3 times as it was sat upright first two times! They said Michal measurements look fine but I'll hear via phone if bad, letter if fine....they've told me they can't do bloods as because it started as a twin pregnant it would skew blood results! But there are other tests they can do if bad. Not sure if I should push for other tests anyway.
We've told both sets of parents now, there were tears and happiness all round which was lovely (but scary at the same time now it's not our little secret now!)

Exciting you're all looking at pushchairs and travel systems etc...looking forward to getting to that stage, won't let myself buy anything yet.

Glad everyone is doing well xx

knorrig · 21/12/2016 18:10

Obviously that's meant to say nuchal measurements not Michal!

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 18:35

I don't think people are mad for spending more on a pushchair, I did last time. Mine as £600. But, dd hated the pram so much it was barely used. I ended up being one of those baby wearing mums that people in AIBU ridicule. This time I'm being a little more cautious with the pram but spending the money elsewhere. I've spent a small fortune on a couple of different wraps instead so will 'wear' the baby for the first few months anyway. Dh has even bought me a kangaroo pouch hoodie!
I haven't bought the video version of the monitor, just the breathing monitor. Dh is a techie and insists they are easily hacked and refuses the have one. (Not sure why anyone would hack a baby monitor, seems mad to me, but not worth arguing about with dh when I'm not fussed anyway). Ours was about £50 on Amazon. I'll post a link in a minute. The night dd stopped breathing I picked her up and she was floppy. I blew in her face and bounced her in my arms (I probably shook her actually- that sounds awful) and it took what seemed like an age for her to start breathing again. The doctor found nothing wrong with her at all ad9 I'm sure they thought it was a blip with the monitor but I know it wasn't. They really are worth every penny.

Whatsername17 · 21/12/2016 18:37

This is my monitor. It's gone up a bit - I think dh might have bought it as a black Friday deal.

MrsAlanPartridge · 21/12/2016 18:47

Just checking in at 10+1 here. Had first MW appt- was relieved she is lovely and laid back, hurray! She will come to me to do booking appt, bloods etc and is putting a dating/nuchal scan in. Still trying to relax here, but with excited kids and Christmas, at least it provides a lot of distraction.
The pain you are describing sah1987 could be SPD. I had this in all my previous pregnancies. Speak to your MW.. Smile

jpeg28 · 21/12/2016 18:53

Thanks whatser... that seems much more reasonable!
