dino thank you. All are up and about so safe to say he's feeling better! All 3 were early! My eldest by 5 days and younger 2 by 6 days. I'm hoping to carry on the pattern!! The idea of going overdue is not a pleasant one. I saw a friend go a whole week over and she was so miserable.
I might have a nosey on H&M too as I'm struggling for trousers. My favourite pair split :-(

Morning all, just thought I'd check in!! Grin

I'm now 37 week and never in a million years thought I'd get here!

I've had to have growth scans at 33 and 35 weeks because my bump isn't growing quickly enough for their liking but it doesn't seem to be impacting on baby at all - he's growing ok and their estimating a weight of about 6 1/2 lb. Midwife is coming out to the house for my check-up today so I imagine I'll be up the hospital again tomorrow for yet another scan! Every time I see her I end up in the hospital!

lynsey I didn't know you were planning a home birth. Same here - today's appointment is hopefully when I'll get approval!!

MoonlightMojitos · 18/12/2016 08:46

Ooh lynsey good idea for the new bump pics, can't wait to see them!

Unfortunately I do have to brave the shops today to get a few bits and bobs! Hoping time get there for when they open at 10 and get in and out and be done with it.

Congrats Carrick! glad to hear all is ok and I've read that growth scans can be notoriously off anyway? Fx you get the all clear today for the home birth :)

Has anyone gone for a tour around hospital birth unit? Mine do tours but I don't know whether it's worth going or not as I've already decided I will definately be choosing there. Is it still worth looking around?

Whatsername17 · 18/12/2016 09:04

Anyone else experiencing leaking, sore nipple and ewcm? Didn't get either with my dd so it's all new to me! 35+2 today. I'm wondering if baby is going to be early as I'm carrying quite low. I probably ruefully saying that if I go over! I had a scan at 32 weeks and all of the measurements she took put the baby ahead and the computer changed the edd from 20th Jan to the 12th but the sonographer didn't say or change anything on my notes. I don't know. I'm getting nervous because I don't want to go into labour over Christmas!

DoubleCarrick · 18/12/2016 09:05

Here's my 37 week bump pic - I'm always happy to share a bump pic Grin

I don't know why they keep measuring me tbh, it's getting annoying. The hospital parking is shocking. It's good to know he's doing ok in there though

Morning everyone.

whatser I've had colustrum since 18 weeks so for ten weeks now & the one is set off by newborns crying which is fun.
My midwife said it doesn't mean anything about baby coming early just means the breasts are ready for what they need to do.

I'm a 12-14 in bottoms ineed & the M size are more than stretchy. They're really great for when I eat loads as well haha.

Aww so around 39 weeks for you lynsey DS was 3 weeks early so don't want this one going too close as it's near his birthday.

moonlight I had an unscheduled tour last night haha, I would say if it helps go. You'd know where to go when the time comes & find out about parking/where you'll have the baby so see facilities.

Aw Carrick cute bump pic! Hope you get your approval.
I'm really hoping my placenta has moved for my home birth but it's awkward.

Here's mine, bump is moving this morning & didn't wake up for my 5am breakfast this morning so that was good.

I've missed a lot! So lovely to read lots of happy news though.

Good idea about the bump pictures. I'll add mine later when I'm dressed. Christmas hols have started and I plan to make the most of it as I'm starting to realise next year will be very different!

Lynsey Carrick I would also like a homebirth. Do either of you think it's a bad idea for my first? I got very upset earlier in the week because I told some colleagues about my plan and they basically told me not to be silly and it was too dangerous. It has planted the seeds of doubt now, which I really didn't need.

Moonlight I went to look round the local midwife led unit and will try the hospital delivery suit too (although I thought I read they don't do tours.) I think it's worth a visit so you know where you're headed.

With my anxiety of hospitals if I end up in either I will really need to know where I'm going. The MLU was lovely and although I could see that my anxiety levels went through the roof as soon as we went in. BlushI'm going to ask if we can go back a few more times to make it more familiar but my gut feeling is I will be happier at home for as long as we can manage.

I need to start thinking about packing bags and a huge list of other things... the 30 week deadline has passed and its all getting very real.

DoubleCarrick · 18/12/2016 11:13

This is my first baby and I'm hoping for a home birth. I think the stats are something like 4 in 1000 poor outcomes at hospital vs 9 in 1000 for first time births at home. Equally, first sign of problems and they will send you in. I think around half of first time births planned at home end up in hospital - mostly because the mother changes her mind. Equally, if you plan a home birth, stats suggest that even if you do end up in hospital you are a lot less likely to have c sections. When you ring the labour line when you go into labour as well as eventually having two midwives at home with you which I bet you don't get in hospital, they also inform the ambulance service who basically put an ambulance on standby for you. I'm five minutes on blue lights from hospital and even in the case of an emergency c section scenario it takes 15 minutes to prep for theatre so there won't be much difference.

Any time.someone tells me I'm brave I just say "no I'm not, I'm a chicken and hospitals are too scary". It's a lie but it shuts people up.

Plus - the idea of my own space, my own music, my own candles, my fire, etc... Sounds like bliss and I feel it'll calm my nerves.

Do what's right for you and no one else

Naschkatze · 18/12/2016 11:33

Thank you Carrick. My midwives have been very supportive so far so that helps. I might use that line - it's true for me! It's not even so much giving birth in hospital I'm worried about, it's being made to stay afterwards and DH being sent home that terrifies me. You read so many awful things about postnatal wards; it doesn't always sound very relaxing or helpful for recovery! At the moment I'm trying to stay positive that everything will stay straightforward and if things don't go to plan then the hypnobirthing I've been practising will at least help me feel calmer.

Here's my festive bump at 30+2! Happy Sunday everyone.

doleritedinosaur · 18/12/2016 11:55

Nasch this is the book I read in planning a homebirth & it has interesting facts plus about how in hospitals labour can slow down especially if the mother gets worked up.
It's The homebirth handbook by Annie Francis

The Homebirth Handbook: How to have your baby calmly and safely at home www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1785040243/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WzNvybTQB6A2E

I'm on my phone so link might not work.

It's not biased & just informs you.

& double you're right you don't get 2 midwives unless you get into difficulties or are consultant led.

I hope you both get the births you want.

These bump pics are cute. Mines dropped but is my second.
Going for the roast now & in laws are behaving so hopefully meal should be good.

doleritedinosaur · 18/12/2016 12:05

Oh forgot to say this is my second & had horrified reactions off people when I said about home birth even though they're the same people who will call the nearest hospital a death trap & just a Morgue.

I know I'd be more comfortable at home even though it's possibly been taken out of my hands.

My friend sent me the Friend's GIF of "no uterus no opinion" to show my consultant in a few weeks which has made me remember it's my body & to laugh haha.

Though OH did then veto Phoebo as a middle name.

Whatsername17 · 18/12/2016 12:29

Dolerite thanks for that - I'm really hopeful that what it actually means is that my boobs will work this time. With my dd, I never got anything like this and was diagnosed with primary lactation failure. This is all looking so positive. I'm grateful for formula- it saved my dd's life. But, I really want to have a positive bfing experience this time!

Whatsername17 · 18/12/2016 12:33

Here is my bump (with added cat! He loves my bump and constantly wants to snuggle it!)

Naschkatze · 18/12/2016 12:43

Thanks Dolerite I'm going to order that book today. I like the homebirth.org.uk website for stats and facts too.

Cute picture Whatser, my cats like cuddling on the bump too now! That does sound positive. TMI - I was a bit alarmed when I got out of the shower last night to see my boobs leaking drops of liquid but a quick google said it was likely colostrum. I'd been irrationally worrying about being too small to breast feed (always been very small chested) so it cheered me up a bit! BlushGrin

jpeg28 · 18/12/2016 13:09

Just catching up...
Alb glad your scan went well! I really hope everything will be ok for you this time.

Netflix can you just drive everywhere so that you have a no drinking excuse??

Whatser it's so close now!! Hope you have a relaxing two weeks off!

Glad you're ok dolerite, it's always better to be safe and get checked out I think.
A friend of mine thought she was having braxton hicks and didn't want to cause a fuss and go in, she ended up giving birth on her own at home at 33 weeks.... so I'll definitely be getting myself to the hospital if I'm ever worried!! Lovely bump too!!

Moonlight I'm glad you're doing well. Wedding was great but such a struggle when you're not drinking and barely know anyone!! OH made up for my not drinking though!! I did make it to the end which I was very happy about but I felt so fat all day compared to all these skinny ladies in lovely dresses!! Back home for the night tonight then off on our little early babymoon tomorrow!

Hope your son feels better lynsey and I think that's a great idea about bump pics!

carrick good to hear from you! Glad everything is going well! It's so close now! And your bump is lovely! I'm 22+5 and I look pretty much the same as you! Blush

MoonlightMojitos · 18/12/2016 13:17

carrick hospital parking in general is always awful from my experience, and costs a fortune doesn't it! Our one has just had a new multi storey car park built but we still ended up almost to the top last time, it's ridiculous.

Thanks nasch and dino My scans have been in the building next to birth suites anyway so know where it actually is but I guess it'll be less stressful if you've been in there before and looked around.

Loving the bump pics!

MoonlightMojitos · 18/12/2016 13:25

I posted some scan pics asking people to guess the gender and 4 people have said girl! I don't know if that's just because I said we will have the shock of ours lives if it is a girl lol maybe they're winding me up. Can't wait to find out!

Glad you had a good time jpeg. That's how I felt at my work Xmas do being the only sober one and feeling so frumpy but I'm sure you looked lovely and hormones dont help lol. And Well done to you for staying through the whole thing! Have a good baby moon.

newshoes have you decided on a birth partner yet? I remember a while back you were trying to choose.

MoonlightMojitos · 18/12/2016 13:36

Sorry to flood the thread Blush. Here's my bump pic from Friday at 16+2, was my first time in maternity jeans lol. I didn't expect to show this early especially as it's my first but it appeared overnight some time last week!

doleritedinosaur · 18/12/2016 15:27

Aw lovely bump pic moonlight my friend says her girl is hard work but one of DS'a swimming buddies is a lovely little girl but they seem to be faster than the boys!
Definitely harder work in the teenage years though haha.

Thanks jpeg the midwife said I can come every day with my perfect observations haha. Blood pressure is creeping up as I'm never triple figures but it's still normal so that's good.

Hope you enjoy your babymoon, take advantage of the not carrying around so much stuff!

Awww whatser mine aren't allowed on the bump as they get booted off. They try though haha.

I was worried too as it was really early plus braxton hicks but midwife said it's definitely not a sign of early.

If you want you can start freezing the colostrum which is what I'll be doing in a few weeks time just so it's on hand just incase.

With you & nasch good luck with breastfeeding & ask to see a lactation consultant ASAP they're more clued up than the midwives & can check latch.
I recommend lanisoh & nipple shields. Plus if in doubt boob & cluster feeding although it feels soul destroying does end. Doesn't feel like it will especially when you've had a baby glued to your boobs for 6 weeks constantly but once they've built up your supply it does start to ease off.

Have you both looked at any local breast feeding clinics? You can go before birth or if you're worried afterwards as it's all women who know latches/all the questions.

Also it does hurt, as your nipple is being gummed but that also passes. I was warned before as it is really surprisingly but after 2 weeks stopped the initial latch ahhhh.

Sorry if I've blabbed too much about breastfeeding. I knew DS was coming out at 37 weeks so read a lot about breastfeeding & asked everyone I knew who breastfed. Especially as I'm now in an area with very low levels of breastfeeding where mum's I know weren't given the right advice to help them carry on past few initial weeks.

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon, I'm stuffed after that roast.

INeedNewShoes · 18/12/2016 18:04

I've got bump envy!

I can't post a pic - mine doesn't look nice Sad Why is it that I have two bumps? A lower one that is firm-ish and then a flabbier upper bump. I'm a size 10 on top and haven't put on much weight at all (due to sickness bug last month) but am admittedly not particularly toned.

Please tell me the double-bump effect bugger off? I'm 19+4 today.

INeedNewShoes · 18/12/2016 18:13

There's a useful 'will' missing from just before 'bugger off' in my previous post's penultimate whinging sentence Grin

jpeg28 · 18/12/2016 18:16

newshoes I have that but the other way around! I'm harder at the top end and soft low down where my flabby belly used to be!!

Whatsername17 · 18/12/2016 19:01

No such thing as a bump that isn't perfect! Give yourself a break up until are growing a human!

Whatsername17 · 18/12/2016 19:01

You are^

XxBecxX · 18/12/2016 19:28

Beautiful bumps ladies, so elegant and compact, I'm only 22weeks and I'm humgunus, I think I'll stay this size now for the rest of the pregnancy lol
