Sourdough- oh yes when, I used to get thrush alot a few years ago, I cut out yeast products and haven't had it for years till now. although now i eat them again, I especially think I ate alot over easter hot cross buns, pizza, turkish bread, and wore non cotton pants, not helpful

Daisybump · 11/04/2007 12:50

hi guys.....good to see some new faces and see that the old ones are doing OK.

Re thrush....cutting out yeast is definately the best way to go. I used to get really bad thrush infections, but due to being diagnosed with coeliac disease, now eat very little bread products and haven't had a recurrence in over two years.

For all you newcomers, lots of congratulations.....it feels like ages since I was in your position, but it does get better, and there are lots of success stories on here....i'm now 31+3 after 2 consecutive mcs....so sending you all positive vibes.

Now that Littlefrog has had her baby, (lots and lots of congrats there too btw ) I think I must be the grand-dame of this thread now.....

All hail queen daisybump!!! Can't wait to get to that stage!! How encouraging for all of us!

I went for my glucose tolerance test this morning and it went fine. Only a little niggle was that when the lady gave me the drink-thing, she said that it would make the baby very active due to the amount of sugar in it. I then started to get paranoid because I couldn't feel anything - I wish she hadn't said it to be honest! Have felt a few little flutters since then so I'm sure its fine. I felt OK physically while I was in there, reading my book but as soon as I left, I felt really awful. I've now got a really bad headache and feel hungry but sick (had to starve from last night). I'm quite sure the headache is just because I couldn't have my morning cup of tea. I'm nibbling on as much as I can so hopefully I'll feel better in a while.

Oh, the joys of pregnancy! At the same time, I still love being pg!!!

Thank you firststar, I am currently enjoying a lovely ham sarnie! (feel a bit guilty because dh is clearing out under the stairs while I put my feet up!).

I've been feeling lots of movement for the last week or two but lo has been a bit quiet the last day or two. I'm going through the usual inner battle of "its still very early, it won't be regular yet" against "is everything OK" and then back to "don't get yourself worked up about it" and around and around. I really am OK but her comment didn't help me this morning! I've decided I've got to forget she said anything, otherwise I'll get myself in a state!

Hi all,

We had a wonderful holiday in Dubai - very, very hot though - I just slouched around! I also had a bleed while we were away - not enough to bother medical insurance etc., but enough to make me very scared! Anyway, I got in touch with the hospital on Tuesday morning when we got back, and they referred me to the GP, who listened in - I heard my baby's heart beating ... a very teary moment! It took her ages to find it though - that was horrible!

Anyway, for someone who's only 15+2, I have a huge bump! I was wearing my normal clothes until 20 weeks with ds - I'm glad I bought the bumpbands - they are an absolute lifeline!I can wear my ordinary clothes - and if I venture into maternity trousers, I wear it to hold the d*&n things up!

Hi to everybody - love and congrats to all those who have had good news - whether it be scans, or dates!

purplelostprincess - about the physio thinbg - your GP is talking absolute bo!!ocks! Every maternity unit has an obstetric physio attached to them. Get on to your midwife and demand a referral to them. You can't go through the pregnancy in pain with clicking hips and things. I suffer with coccyx pain (after a skiing accident when pg with ds), and have got the first twinges of spd again now - I'm going to be asking for a referral myself when I see the midwife next week.

Mumpbump & firststar - I admit to feeling very very fat right now! I'm not big enough for it to be really obvious that I'm pg rather than have been eating too many pies, but I feel like I'm waddling - the spd and coccyx pain do that to me!

jossie & strangetown - welcome - hopefully your stay will be long and uneventful ... knicker checking is obligatory when doing the purgatory that is pg after mc!

littlefrog - congratulaions on the birth of your son!

Right - off to play with ds!

love to all.

hi all,
I already said it on the October 07 thread, but I also wanted to announce that I had a scan yesterday (12 weeks) and everything was fine....

Quite a relief, although I know I shouldn't be too complacent as things can still go wrong. But at least I've passed a major milestone and I know for sure the pregnancy has progressed much much further than last time (m/c at 9 weeks). I also have my first appointment with the midwife today...

thanks!

you know, I was soooo stressed before getting there and when I was called in, and so was my husband (both about whether the LO one be alive and well, but also because they were also doing a nuchal test at the same time...) that I didn't feel that happy when I was in there - just a bit relieved every time the sonographer made a positive comment on what she saw, and when I heard the hb of course. At one point, I turned to look at my husband and smile at him, but his eyes were fixed on the screen and he was looking very concentrated and worried...

the happiness sort of grew throughout the day, when the adrenaline went away and we fully realised what happened...and that we were finally able to tell people I am pregnant!!

gemmamc...glad your scan went well and I hope you can relax a bit more....according to Prof Regan, the risk of mc after 12 weeks is less than one percent. sending you some virtual (((((((((hugs))))))))) to help keep you sane!!
My DH and I cried our eyes out at our 6 week scan and again at 10 wks, and again at 13 weeks. By the 20 week scan we were just in awe.

Purple...I felt the first definate movements at 16 weeks but I'd been having lots of flutters since about 14 weeks...then it all went quiet for a few weeks, but that was around Christmas, so I was probably just too busy to notice them....now i get prodded and poked from morning till night...this is a very active baby, much more so than my DS. Still can't quite believe its going to happen, and going to happen soon...DH and I were in a flap about it at the weekend.

I'm off on maternity leave now and today I've washed a load of babygros and blankets, and was weeping gently as I hung them out to dry. I keep on looking at the line and going all gooey....dont you just love those pg hormones.

I know what you mean about being prepared firststar......it was nearly two years ago that DH and I first talked about another baby....it's been a long time coming, this LO! But, it's still quite scary and I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself. With DS, the nursery was all prepared at this stage and my hospital bag was packed....all I was waiting on was labour itself. This time around, I've taken a far more measured approach....not wanting to jump the gun I suppose...the pain of the mcs is still there and still raw [nervous smile emoticon]

Ouch about the SPD Firststar...I had some achiness in the pelvic region at about the same stage you are at and some shooting pains going up and down stairs, but it has got much better recently. I got a lightweight support belt, which i wore for about a week, and have been sleeping with a pillow between my legs which has made a huge difference to night-time comfort levels. I also saw a physio who has given me some really good exercises...I hope it gets better soon.

ejt1764 · 12/04/2007 19:49

the spd is back with me already too ... am feeling very sorry for myself - especially as I suffer with coccyx pain too [ouch emoticon needed here!] I'm going to be asking for a physio referral on Monday when I see the midwife.

gemma, I'm so pleased for you - our dating scan was a real hurdle - well, you know, I was in tears all over everybody before and after ... the tears did mean though, that when I phoned about the bleed on Tuesday, the lady on the phone remembered me!

I have bought nothing for this bean as yet - after ds was born, I was adamant that I'd never put myself through that ordeal again - so sold all my maternity clothes and all ds's newborn clothes as soon as he grew out of them ... it does mean I get to go shopping though!

I told ds that he was going to be a big brother after I went to the hospital on Tuesday - he was pretty cool about it for a couple of hours - then he started to ask questions, and hasn't stopped since. He's started telling everybody he sees: 'My mammy has got a baby in her tummy and I'm going to be a big brother' - it's very cute. He keeps coming and giving me a kiss and a cuddle, then he has to give my stomach a kiss and cuddle too .... aaah!

mad4girls · 12/04/2007 20:23

hi guys

i hope you dont mind if i join u and pop in every now again 2 dd's 7 and 4 1 mc in between and 1 since in 2004 got bfp 3 wks ago and incredibly worried and nervous more so than any other pregnancy,

think its because it took so long to get pregnant again and its been so longed for im ultra paranoid its going to go horribly wrong

i hope im in the right place and not just gate crashing on a private thread appologies if so

fettleandminifettle · 12/04/2007 20:57

Hi All

Just checking in after my holiday - hope you are all well.

Mad4girls - welcome - this thread will really help you through these worrying first few weeks - we've all been there. TBH, I'm nearly 16 weeks, I'm still knicker checking everytime I go to the loo! Don't suppose that the worry will ever completely go until we hold our LOs!

good luck with everything and keep talking, don't bottle anything up, that's why this thread is so supportive!!

All well here - had a phone call from the Dr's surgery last night to be told that i'm anemic, which may explain why I'm still so tired. Been prescribed iron, which hopefully will make a difference. Also has folic acid with it - does anyone know if I can still take my sanatogen pronatal which also contains iron and folic acid, or should I stop while taking the iron tablets?

anyway, take care all
xxx

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 21:34

hi fettle.....the folic acid shouldn't be a problem, but I would check with your doctor re the iron...i suppose it will depend how low your iron count actually is. I now too mush iron is a bad thing, but not sure how much is too much in pregnancy.

Hope you are nice and rested after your break.....I was away visiting family in Scotland, then spent the Easter weekend with DH at his weektime residence nr Boston, Lincs (he works away through the week and is home weekends). The sun shone, we all had a great time, and DS was on top form.....a lovely way to start my maternity leave.

Welcome mad4girls and big congrats on your BFP. This is definately the right place for you....I would have gone loopy if not for the comfort and support from this thread. Lots of sticky dust coming your way

Daisybump · 12/04/2007 21:36

LOL...check out the spelling....I think I'm suffering from water retention of the fingers.....or the brain

That should have read "I know too much iron...."
