Hi Again

Your probably all in bed now.

Firstar-What you are not feeling radiatingly beautiful and glowing in Pregnancy?

Sorry to hear about your backache, can you get some gentle massages, are you overdoing it lifting, sitting or anything? that relaxin hormone is pretty strong, can make injuries out of all most nothing. I ended up with physio in last pg from doing too much tile cutting, physio told me to stop mosaicing as my back was a mess, mainly sholder blade.
Thanks for asking I am quite well, a bit tired again, but going to bed early is great. I can't believe I'm only a couple of weeks behind you due 15th Aug, it felt like forever between your BFP and mine, weird. I find I'm on high after dr's visit for a couple of days and then worry again. I have no appointment this weeek!!!
I have been enjoying buying pg dress and swimwear lately for holiday in fiji in April, I wamt to try to look like that glowing pg women

Mump and Purple -look forward to the good news of your scans

Good MMorning everyone ,

Good Luck to those with scans coming up!

I am feeling really well ,i am 16 weeks now!!
had a bit of scare over the weekend with really painful pains in stomach, we even went to A&E as i was in so much pian, turned out to be a gastro virus which has thankfully cleared but they gave me anthore scan just to check the baby and all is fine ( that is 6 scans in total now ) babe has grown so much and they think it is a ....................boy

that will be 2 little men i will then have, family that i have told seemed dissopinted but i dont care as long as it comes out healthy and well im not bothered, but then none ofthem know what it feels like to have lost one!

Must say that i just cant wait for August!!!!!

Firststar - cant belive you are 20 weeks, as uki said it seemed liked forever before me you got your BFP - Half way there!!

T4T - you little man sounds fab xxx

Uki - hope you are coping in the heat , and Fuji, you lucky lady, im off to butlins in July

Hi to everyone else xxx

gemmamc · 07/03/2007 09:34

Dearl all, as I said in the due in Oct thread, I had some preliminary good news yesterday. My early scan at the EPAU (I am 7+1) went well, there was a heartbeat (amazing thing to see!) and everything looked right for the dates. There was also CL cyst, but I was told it's small so no need to worry...

hearbaceous - welcome!! Please don't say you're ancient...as I am only a few years younger than you and that would make me quasi-ancient

Well, I can also tell you that a good friend of mine had her first at 39 and half and her second at 41 (a home birth as well)! Both healthy. She was super lucky as she had no m/c and also no early pregnancy symptoms..I am a bit envious in fact, but it's all very encouraging. I also know other women in their 40s who just had their first child. I don't know them well, so I don't know whether they had m/cs before their successful pregnancy - it is quite likely, I would think, but they succeeded in the end....

In any case, the best of luck to you. Keep us posted..

Uki · 07/03/2007 09:50

hi Again
I'm actually feeling a bit awake tonight. So I can chat yay!!!!
Firstar - Are you really only going to take 4 months off when you have baby? I think that will be really hard. Can't you just scrape by with less money in the household or go back part time? we live on less money now but it is suprisingly easy, when you don't go out for drinks, dinners, movies, etc, all a bit hard with baby.

Pink-sorry about your stomach bug, I hate stomach pain, i had bad indigestion again 2 nights ago, not fun.
big boy-who knows yet could be a big girl couldn't it and 2nd babies are bigger arn't they, are you going to confirm at another scan. We are going to find out but it's not certain either is it?

Gemma- beautiful news congrat's

Uki · 07/03/2007 09:57

Hi Herbaceous- Welcome, sorry I didn't see your post. I think you have a great chance with this prengnancy you are being treated and have seen hb. I'm sure you have plenty of good eggs left, as you know m/c arn't just age or many of us wouldn't be here. I heard somewhere that some people m/c before period because of bad chromosones while others take a little longer to realize, not fun, but statisticly we all have a chance iykwim.

Mumpbump · 07/03/2007 09:58

Morning all! Dh is away and I was up to give ds his milk at 05:00 and then up for the day at 06:00 so feeling slightly jaded...

Firststar - I have asked my dad if he wants to come since he is a bit gooey about all things baby... 4 months is not a very long time. Can you really not afford to take some more time off? I ended up with a £3k overdraft last time which I'm still trying to clear, but the bank were pretty relaxed about it as they understood that it was because I was on maternity leave and that I would be earning again afterwards. I went back to work just before ds turned 6 mo and hope to take a bit more time off this time around - although looking unlikely because of finances. Babies are still really hard work at 3 or 4 months - the majority don't sleep through the night, as in properly through the night, until about 5 or 6 months - so going back to work that early will be very challenging, I would expect. Uki's suggestion of part-time is a good idea...

Uki - I am so envious of you going to Fiji. What I wouldn't give for the opportunity to laze around somewhere warm...

Pinkranger - glad you just had a tummy bug. I think 2 boys would be nice, but think my parents are quite keen for us to have a little girl this time. As you say, provided the baby arrives in one piece and is healthy, I really don't care...

Princess - I am surprised they don't give you the nuchal fold scan as a matter of course in Kent, but I know they are really strapped for cash. My mum is in the Kent & Sussex and she was concerned about being there because they are so skint. Definitely worth paying for the assessment and the opportunity to see your baby, imo.

Gemma - think I said congrats on the scan result on the other thread, but since my memory is cr*p, congrats here as well!!

Hello to everyone else... It's so much easier to keep us with this thread on a daily basis. I'm off for a long weekend skiing, so goodness knows how I'm going to catch up after 4 days away!!

Firstar-sorry for hassling you, you sound guilty enough already. Grandmothers are great though, my mum worries and dots on ds more than me she is a real worrier though.

Mump-have a great weekend skiing? where are you going? Don't worry we will fill you in when you get back.

Mumpbump · 07/03/2007 12:06

Firststar - that's great that your mum is looking after your lo. Much better than having to ditch them in nursery as we had to. We don't have any extended family living that near to us unfortunately.

Uki - I'm off to Chamonix where my sister lives. She says there has been snow so hopefully we will get some decent skiing in. I was keen to do some cross country, but I think I'd pass out so have decided to stick to downhill instead! My sister's fretting about whether it's a good idea to ski at all, but I said at this stage, if I fell, I can't see it would do any damage and I shall just take extra care. Can't remember the last time I fell over anyway!

Chamonix....Fiji.....I'm dead jealous ...Of course, I am off to Boston for the easter long weekend, but Boston, Lincs, not Massachusets! DH is working there and usually comes home weekends, but this is so DS and I can see where he works and check out the relocation potential.
Mumpbump, my best friend went skiing when she was 12 weeks...don't think there are any medical reasons why not as LO is well cushioned, but have you discussed with your GP/MW?
hi Herbaceous, it sounds like it's been a long haul for you. wishing you all the bst with this one and a much waited positive outcome. You must be a very strong person to have gone through all of this and I take my hat off to you. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh, and 41 isn't that old!!!...I'm 38 so well into the geriatric mother bracket too...and I must say feeling my age and some more at the moment (26 weeks so knocking on the door of the last trimester)
Firstar...I've also been wearing a support belt and think its wonderful and that they should be included in the bundle of notes you get from the midwife!! Re your maternity leave, my advice would be wait and see how you feel afterwards. When I had my DS I was a single mum and had planned on going back when he was 18 wks due to the financial situation, however it is surprising how little you need to get by (I'd also started stockpiling nappies so I didn't need to buy any for the first four months) When it came to the crunch, I couldn't leave him at that age and ended up taking a couple of years out! Had to finally sell my flat to finance it, but don't regret it for a minute. This time, I@m planning on a a year off, so bub will be about 9mo when I go back. We're taking a payment break from the mortgage for 6mo to allow this to happen, but after that....gotta go back. Trying to work out the minimum no.of hours I can work to make the figures stack financially, but money matters aren't my strong point>

what a windbag.....have the rest of a nice day

ejt1764 · 07/03/2007 13:58

Mumpbump - enjoy your skiing!

Not much news from me today - I think I may have gone and got myself into an argument with someone on another thread - it's the first time I've done it, and I feel really anxious about it - how dull is that! Mind you, it's on something I could bang the drum about all day ...

I had a blistering headache yesterday - all day. DH was dispatched to the pharmacy to get something - anything to get rid of it - I can't take paracetemol at the moment as I just throw it straight back up again. Anyway, he came back from the pharmacy with some nux.vom - the homeopathic rememdy. The pharmacist in tesco's pharmacy is also a trained homeopath, and suggested this for my sickness and the headache - and by jove it worked! I took it as directed, every 30 minutes or so and not only has the headache gone, I've not been sick this morning! Here's hoping it lasts!

love to all my fellow knicker checkers - going to go and sort out my seeds - I haven't done anything in my garden yet and I need to get the veg in!

ejt1764 · 07/03/2007 14:04

Daisybump - we're doing the payment holiday on the mortgage too so that I can take a goodly amount of time off - I figure that this is the most expensive time of our lives, and that if we're a bit poorer for a while, we'll survive - but after going back to work when ds was only 5 months old, I realised that I had to take more time for a second child.

I went skiing too when (16 weeks) pg with ds - and loved it - until I had a fall and got medivaced home - I didn't do any damage to ds at all - just torn the ligaments in my knee... no regrets though!

I seem to be upsetting people all over at the moment - on another board I post on, one of the girls has posted to ask everybody's opinion on skiing when pg - I and one other were the only ones to say go for it - and now everything I post on there gets greeted by a stony silence. Don't think I'll be posting on there much longer.

Going to take my guilty feelings out on my garden.

I'm in a slightly similar ski-type situation. I've got to go to a congress in Cannes next week. Very nice, I'm sure, but it's going to be a lot of standing up, and a lot of pissed bores in pinstripe suits. I know, logically, that going there won't affect the pregnancy in any way, but I'm still rather nervous. If something does go wrong, it will go wrong in France, away from boyfriend, doctor, etc.

It also means I've got to come clean to my boss, who is also going, as I won't be able to get away without drinking (and sloping off to the hotel at 7.30 each night) otherwise. Gah.

Daisybump - I wish I was strong. I feel scarily attached to this one already.

firststar - thank you - I tend to be a bit too eager to please at times - and then get upset if I upset people.

herbaceous - welcome (sorry not to have said it before!) If you don't want to tell your boss, could you make it into some kind of lent thing - 'ooh, I've given up alkifrol for lent' kind of thing? Good luck ...

right, definitely going out to sort out the seeds now.

ejt1764 · 07/03/2007 14:30

firststar - tbh work don't really have any say in it - if your baby is due after 1st April, you're entitled to 9 months paid mat leave and another 3 months unpaid if you want.

Repeat after me: 'staffing issues are not my problem' - I went back under duress when ds was only 5 months old because my boss laid a big guilt trip on me (I'd started going back into work for 1 afternoon a week when ds was 8 weeks old, but that's another story) - and it was far too soon ... I know every woman is different, and everybody's circumstances are different, but you have to decide in conjunction with dh how much time you take off. I would seriously advise thinking of the maximum time you think you would want to take off, and seeing if your circumstances will permit it, rather than coming at it from the other way.

working families have good up to date advice ...

Mumpbump · 07/03/2007 14:43

Firststar - if you think they won't be chuffed about the maternity leave, wait until you have to take time off to look after a sick child!!

I have just calculated that I have taken 5 days of my annual holiday so far to look after ds and my mum. My mum said she would help look after ds when he was ill so I could avoid this, but guess where she got her bug from??? Oh the irony!!

I've got a pretty gross question. Just now, the brown spotting has turned into sort of fleshy brown flecks. What the blazes is that?

Mumpbump · 07/03/2007 15:24

Don't know, but I would suggest you ring the EPU at your local hospital. Our one is very helpful and I am sure they get asked lots of random questions. My understanding is that dark discharge is old blood and so less of a worry than fresh blood, but probably best to get it checked out for your own peace of mind...

herbaceous · 07/03/2007 15:25

I had a scan yesterday, and everything was fine, with a strong heartbeat, right size, etc, so I'm not too worried. Who am I kidding...
