Spotting, cramping, "is my clearblue digi accurate?",* viability scans, measuring behind, measuring ahead, high hcg, low hcg, morning sickness, lack of morning sickness, anomaly scans....

That's right, folks, it's the place where scanxiety really means something, where the feeling like you're always going to be on the wrong side of statistics nevers go away, and where moments of sheer terror are par for the course ...it's pregnancy after infertility.

Join if you want to hang out with a supportive group of women across all different stages of pregnancy who can't believe they got here and are hoping like hell its all going to be ok.

Is so good to hear I'm not alone with this anxiety and fear of jinxing it! It makes me feel a lot better. Still haven't told anyone at work or in wider social circle even tho I'm 13 weeks now! Is like I daren't get everyone excited in case something goes wrong. Will have to do the big reveal at some point, my clothes are getting tighter...

kiwiblue · 05/11/2016 08:59

I'm exactly the same too. I'm 17 weeks and only told work last week (helped I was away from 12 to 15 weeks!) I found it totally bizarre to tell them. I also keep adding "hopefully" at the end of all sentences about it. Very sadly, a lady at my work lost her baby after 20 weeks, and I think people at work are now a bit more aware that this can happen. We told most of our friends last week and I was touched by how happy they were for us, even though most of them didn't know about our struggles. We're a bit more open now though so tend to say it's been a long road to get here.

Sorry I just got back from work trip and I'm on phone so can't scroll back for personals but hope you are all doing OK and have a lovely weekend.

tigerdog · 05/11/2016 18:08

The fear never leaves does it? Glad to see so many of you are making progress towards the end goal of an actual baby. Seems so far away right now and still impossible to imagine.

Thanks for all the reassurance and positive thoughts. Just to update quickly, the spotting stopped after 24 hours. I think I must have read the entire internet in relation to spotting, which did not help. Am slightly less freaked out today but very very nervous. Still away at the inlaws but home tomorrow and scan booked for Monday.

Hope everyone is having a lovely bonfire night. I'll mostly be trying to keep the dog from freaking out about any fireworks, poor love!

Wizziwoo · 06/11/2016 09:42

Tiger glad to hear spotting stopped, I had it for 2 weeks from 7 -9. Terrified and didn't sleep a wink but was reassured it was pretty normal once it was brown. Just the embryo burying in nice and snug so the MW said.
Now have the joys of ligament pain, could hardly walk the last few days with a jabbing pain in my groin. Called my midwife who advised going to to the GP, he said.with the weight of the bump that's quite normal these days apparently. Still doesn't stop me freaking out.Another week another challenge.
Likewise DH really positive about the whole pregnancy, 'eye on the prize' and all that whereas I can't see past tomorrow. Now he's talking about getting the nursery sorted... eeeek!!! Maybe I'll just do that Scandi baby in a box thing which seems to be all the rage...

ellesbellesxxx · 06/11/2016 10:47

Hello ladies,
Please please can I join you here? I still feel like a fraud!!!
We had IVF and had our viability scan this week - I am 7 weeks 4 days with twins... and obviously terrified.
I am deeply envious of people who can take their fertility and babies for granted... each day we get through feels like a milestone!!!!!

loopylou1984 · 07/11/2016 06:45

Welcome Elle's - I'm expecting twins too!
This was my third IVF and two embryos were put back however we've ended up with identicals so must have lost one embie and the other one split! Brilliant group here, we'll see you through :).

We have our 20 week anomaly scan this morning. Scanxiety central here :(. Xx

HopefulKate1980 · 07/11/2016 07:07

Hi ladies
I haven't logged in for a while but just wanted to say good luck for this morning Sammy!!!!

Welcome to all the newcomers!!

Nearly 23 weeks here and he is growing nicely. Still fearful but trying to focus on getting to Xmas as the next hurdle when all being well I should be roughly 30 weeks (can't bring myself to do the calculations for fear of jinxing it!! Madness!)

Anyway just wanted to send you all my love. I'll catch up on all your news later.

Good luck Sammy!!!!

Xxxx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 07/11/2016 08:08

Welcome Elles, and congratulations on the twins!

Good luck this morning Sammy - will be thinking of you.

Hi Hopeful, wow 23 weeks already, though I'm sure it has dragged for you.

Wizzi your pain sounds terrible - how far along are you now? Did the doctor recommend anything?

Great news that your spotting stopped Tiger and good luck at the scan.

lucieloos · 07/11/2016 08:37

Good luck this morning Sammy the worry never ends does it!

Welcome elles wow another with twins! Congratulations!

Wizzi, hope the pain has eased off a bit now.

I have my harmony results this afternoon I'm so so nervous! I don't know how I'm going to bring myself to look at them!

HopefulKate1980 · 07/11/2016 08:49

Good luck Lucie!!! Excuse the ignorance but what are harmony tests? Is it the more accurate version of what you get on the NHS for Downs etc?

Xxx

lucieloos · 07/11/2016 09:47

Thanks Kate, yes it screens for downs, Edwards and patau syndrome whereas the NHS only does downs. It's more accurate than the NHS and can be done sooner. Checking my email every 2 mins now!

tigerdog · 07/11/2016 10:00

Good luck sammy! Hope all is well.

Lots of luck to you too lucie.

Thanks for sharing your experience wizzi, and good to hear your spotting was just normal. The ligament pain sounds rough though, hope it eases off.

Hi elles, glad you've got past that first scan and exciting that it's twins. My clinic is making me wait until 7+6 for my viability scan, but after the spotting we are going for a local one this evening as I've been really struggling.

RoseBud2016 · 07/11/2016 10:29

Good luck Sammy and Tiger with your scans today. Keeping everything crossed for you both.

Lucie best of luck with your results! Do you mind me asking, did you do the harmony test through Babybond? Or another company? How much did you pay?

lucieloos · 07/11/2016 10:41

Good luck tiger, I think it's a good idea to get an earlier scan and hopefully put your mind at rest.

Rose, yes I went through babybond. It's was £399 incl a scan so not particularly cheap but totally worth it.

stealthbanana · 07/11/2016 10:51

Good luck sammy & tiger for your scans, and lucie crossing my fingers that your harmony results are comforting!

Hi to everyone else, hope you all had good weekends

OP posts:
RoseBud2016 · 07/11/2016 11:20

Thanks Lucie I thought Babybond was the cheapest, when I briefly looked.

That will be the next thing I'll arrange if my scan on Thurs goes ok. So scared.

lucieloos · 07/11/2016 11:32

Yes I would recommend it Rose. This whole process is so scary isn't it. It seems it's one thing after another really. If these results come back ok then I have my 12 weeks scan a week tomorrow. Good luck with your scan.

MPP81 · 07/11/2016 14:30

Good luck with your scan Sammy! Everything crossed for you!

Lucie, have you had the harmony results yet? Everything crossed for you too!

Welcome Elles and congrats on your exciting news of twins!! :-)

lucieloos · 07/11/2016 14:40

MPP, haven't had anything yet Sad I emailed them and they just said they would send it through as soon as they get it from the lab. Hope it's still going to be today. The wait is agonising. It's been 9 days now and time has gone so slowly!

MPP81 · 07/11/2016 14:44

I bet! That must be really frustrating! Hopefully you'll hear by the end of the day!

MPP81 · 07/11/2016 14:45

Oooh, just realised, I didnt say good luck to you too, Tiger. Hope all goes well for you!

kiwiblue · 07/11/2016 16:13

Thinking of sammy and tiger, hope all went well.

kiwiblue · 07/11/2016 16:28

lucie I thought the NHS screens for all three syndromes- Downs, Edwards and Patau? That's what I was told by my hospital, that they would screen for all. I ended up having the regular screening done privately because we were going away but otherwise I'd have had it through the NHS. Do correct me if I'm wrong!

Kate I believe the Harmony test is a chromosomal analysis so is more accurate than the combined test used by the NHS.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2016 16:52

MY NHS was for all 3. Mw explained it all and I had to sign a form saying I agree to having the tests

On phone so can't name tag but welcome newbies

Sorry about bleeding (tiger I think?) and horrible not knowing till next scan

How was scan sammy today 20w

Think we will always worry during preg as taken so long to get here

Have 20w scan next Monday. Been a long 3/4w from private 16w scan we did

lucieloos · 07/11/2016 17:13

Sorry kiwi I think you might be right if you combine the nuchal with the blood test but they aren't as accurate as the harmony. The NHS missed edwards syndrome in my friend and it wasn't picked up until she was 20 something weeks pregnant. She had to have a termination at 28 weeks so I just wanted to get the harmony ASAP.

Just got the results back and all 3 trisomys are low risk less than 1 in 10000 for each or 0.01%. Such a relief the waiting for scans and tests is agonising in this process! 12 week scan a week tomorrow and then I might actually start to believe this is happening!
