I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Welcome frog tho arriving in at 20w does mean I'm now 6th on the list being shoved off my throne 😬😬

What's your dd?

Luckily I have not pissed myself yet .......

The missing was good. Omfg !!

Havnt gone off anything in particular that I've been sick with. Apart that I avoid rice now as horrendous. Know I keep saying it but seriously the worst thing ever to sick up

I'm still drink water and odd cup of black tea. All other liquids seem to reappear - strange how diff we are

Rubens or lucozade does not appeal at all.

Baby (work) fed and asleep. Bubs (mine) seems to have settled with heartburn thank god

Will glug bottle when home

Southlondon321 · 11/11/2016 07:32

Haha four! You are so right! When I was sick in the bin yesterday I took a sip of water, got in the bus and did a whole day of work before realising brushing my teeth would have been hygienic!
(We can watch missing btw the plot twisted again!)

Southlondon321 · 11/11/2016 07:54

Sorry I miss so many messages. It's my blimin phone. Good luck today everyone!
Lucinda - before I was really bad my GP said it was normal and to see how it goes. Then I went back and another GP made sure I had done everything in NICE website, including stupid wrist bands and ginger biscuits (I'm gluten free!! I have bigger problems if I eat a biscuit lol!) -I hadn't seen nice website, just pieced stuff together and had the acupuncture needles in my chest too. I burst into tears, held down a sick and she took me seriously lol. Had to go back to GP 1 to refil cyclizine this week and he suggested I reduce tablets. It's so annoying because no one wants to take tablets if they didn't have to and I f I could stomach it I would have those posh vitamins that do everything but they make me so sick (thinking about them makes me want to gag!!) so it's constant decision bashing from medical people. Plus I find that there is no formal support in early pregnancy which is when your sickness is the most shocking and unexpected... they don't care you are pregnant as not expecting a positive outcome until later on. It's so weird. I really appreciate NHS but I don't see the support there in early days.

Have good days with no rice, your sugary drink of choice and no-sick happiness! It's Friday!!

Southlondon321 · 11/11/2016 08:08

Also to above .... in my ignorance and desperation I was even searching online 'how to mentally overcome morning sickness'... because there was no one saying to me that 'it can be bad (and worse!!)' anyway... just remembered that and thought to share!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/11/2016 08:12

DONT reduce tablets You will suffer. Or I always do. I pop down to two a day for a day or two and then bleug .......

peaceloveandbiscuits · 11/11/2016 08:56

Good so far today. I have had a shower! Couldn't stomach the thought for a few days Confused I was sick once during the night (mucus and bile, yay) but nothing so far today. I've had my cyclizine but not taking my other meds until I've made it through the morning danger zone!

Hope everyone has good days.

babyand · 11/11/2016 09:03

Morning ladies,

Going back to the doctors today. My normal doc is out u till Tuesday she is so nice. The only other gp in the practice is a man who told me I was not sick just pregnant when I was pregnant with dd so not holding out much hope for him changing my meds :(

This is really getting to me mentally! I wake up in the morning and my belly flips and I get a deep sense of regret :(

NerrSnerr · 11/11/2016 09:12

Baby I know the feeling. I had a good cry to my husband this morning after I was sick for the third time. I'm also back to the GP. Hoping to see one of the nice ones.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 11/11/2016 09:21

Totally with you on the regret front. I think I was happy about being pregnant for about five minutes before the memories came flooding back. I considered terminating this and my most recent pregnancy because of how I feel/felt. Don't feel ashamed of feeling or thinking that. It's horrendous that we have to just get on with things when we're so unwell - take pregnancy out of the equation and no one would make you suffer like this without a lot of care and attention!
I feel stupid complaining because I feel like this was self-inflicted. But it's still shit.

Southlondon321 · 11/11/2016 09:23

Don't leave docs u til they sort you out. I am so angrey that docs have all this power which is ultimately damaging their patients.

Having one of those mornings that would be funny if you weren't us .... thank god for my pregnant friend on the exact commute.

Southlondon321 · 11/11/2016 09:24

^thank goodness

CastleFeck · 11/11/2016 10:14

Hope the Dr give you some better meds Baby and nerr. I'm so sad that doctors have this attitude. Don't ask them, tell them what you want!

Sorry your dad lunch came back up Blondes, you must be due for a long period vom free now. I find the further I get the bigger the breaks between vomming.

LH hope you haven't sustained any toilet injuries

Welcome frog, sorry you're still ill at 20 weeks. I'd try different drugs if I were you. Also:
Puke into a bucket while sitting on toilet reduces pee problem.
Cup-a-soups (chicken)
Lucozade sport
Ice lollies
I eat a lot of crumpets, not sure how helpful that is to others though.

Housework, no way. Thank goodness my mum has looked after us for the last 3 months otherwise we'd be infested. Happy Friday pukey peeps, another week nearly done.

LightTripper · 11/11/2016 10:26

Oh yes, crumpets are good.

I always found boiled potatoes were terrible to throw up (pity as they feel quite good going down, but just not worth it). I've been lucky enough not to vom rice: sounds like I should keep it that way.

I'm doing well thanks Lucinda. Still nauseous all the time but very mild during the day and a little bit worse during the evening. A bit of retching some evenings (still sometimes accompanied by wee: must do more kegels) but it never feels like it is going to turn into a full vom. I feel so lucky to be one of the ones who is better after 20 weeks, so if I can do anything to support people who are still in the horror stage (without everybody wanting to kill me Blush) then I'm happy to!

Plus not very busy at work and it's a good distraction Grin

babyand · 11/11/2016 12:40

Well ladies after my trip to the doctors I'm currently in the waiting room of the maternity hospital ER. I presume they will just put me on a drip?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 11/11/2016 13:09

Thinking of you baby

CastleFeck · 11/11/2016 13:22

Good luck baby.

user1477229112 · 11/11/2016 13:35

I'm almost 14 weeks now and despite medication I feel my symptoms are getting much worse can anyone who has got past this point tell me when your symptoms peaked ? Feeling desperate despite medication I haven't had any sick days I've had lots of tactical puking in work and do not want to go off but think I'm getting close to it

LucindaE · 11/11/2016 13:47

auberginefrog Welcome. Sorry you are still suffering. It sounds as if you are a veteran, no need for me to ask if you have kesostix. I hope you do get relief at some stage. When suffering I was always wetting myself or the bathroom floor too.
babyand Sorry that you have had to be admitted, though you will feel so much better for fluids. Am I right in thinking they had you on cyclizine before?
NerrSnerr Good luck at GP''s. I hope they give you something more effective. I hope you get relief soon. So discouraging to pass those dates still feeling bad.
Much sympathy to SouthLondon peacelove and all those who had a bad day yesterday. peacelove Congratulations on shower! Grin about 'pulling and peeing'. I remember my DD's love of emptying drawers all round the house. It must be hard to deal with when unwell.
I so agree about how dismal it is to find out how there is no medical supervision until the booking in appointment.
I hope that everyone is coping today. Waves to castlefeck fourcorneredcircle and everyone.
LightTripper It is so nice of you to help others now you feel better yourself.

blondes I so agree about rice. The horror ,thehorror!

user1477 Poor you. What meds are you on? Can they add any? I'm ot surprised you find it hard to work; is it possible to have some time off sick? Sixteen weeks is a lot more typical than fourteen for an improvement on these threads. It was fifteen with me.

OP posts:
LucindaE · 11/11/2016 13:50

user1477 That's 'I'm not surprised you find it hard at work'...

OP posts:
LightTripper · 11/11/2016 13:52

Hi user - sorry you are feeling so rough. Mine peaked before then (probably at its worst about 9-15 with my first p/g and 7-13 with my second, which was stronger but better medicated).

What meds are you on? It might be worth trying something different (either instead of or in addition to what you are taking: most of them can be taken in combination). The only good thing about being still sick late on is I think for some GPs it helps them understand that this is not just "normal" morning sickness.

Can you take some time off work? I found sleep was massively helpful during the worst stages, and would nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon as well as going to bed super early. I know it's not easy but even a week of being able to properly rest might make the world of difference to you.

Southlondon321 · 11/11/2016 14:22

Baby, I am so sorry you are being admitted. It will hopefully help and be the beginning of feeling better. You have likely had rock bottom now. Very frustrating that if you had been taken seriously and looked after properly it wouldn't have come to this. Best of luck recovering nice and quickly.

User, I have similar issues with work. Hope you are entitled to sick pay above statutory, if not it might be worth the question to your management or HR... I am always harping on about value. Staff are of the utmost value so they should have sick etc (unlike my company!!). Also, can they make reasonable adjustments so you can work from home or adjust travelling hours?

Light you are literally the holy grail! Please keep telling us there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm having a nauseous afternoon! Argh! First week working a full week in ages!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/11/2016 15:33

Baby sorry to hear you've been admitted but for the best and fluids will help

For me improved 14/15w tho it's really been last 2w of so that felt OK most days and now 20w so I would say magic no 16/18w

Medication should help so if it isn't then change it

user1477229112 · 11/11/2016 17:03

Can anyone on ondansetron let me me their dose I'm on 4 mg twice per day of the soluble melts !?is this the highest dose xx

LHReturns · 11/11/2016 17:54

Hi User - I am on 8mg tablets 3x a day - dunno if solubles are different - but seems I am on much higher dose?

Been throwing up again today - in my own driveway was a highlight. I must have done something wrong - got complacent or something. Feel very low and fearful of this continuing for a long long time.

Hi to all of you and thank his I have this thread to read and you to talk to. No one else has a clue what this is like.
