KitKat ? I liked that bit about the poppy seed too! About worrying, I caught myself doing it earlier and then thought, actually, I am going to worry about this precious person ALL her/his life so I?d better get used to it!

Fettle ? it was lovely to have a long post from you. I am sure you are scared, I just cannot imagine what it must be like to lose a baby, I guess everything I?ve read on here makes me guard my excitement a bit. Poor Abwah, horrific. I think my boobs are less sore today but maybe I am just getting used to them feeling like this. It?s sweet the name you had for DD, I like it, I always thought ?foetus? was so clinical and was surprised to see it meant ?little one?.

I?ve been looking at baby names ? only girls at the mo. I?m adding Misty, Esme, Morgan and Sherilyn to my ever expanding list (Ava, Eva, Mia, Leah?). I read so many of the names and think I cannot call my child that because someone else has or I knew someone I didn?t like with that name

KitKat30 · 01/02/2007 14:12

Oooh I like Esme! I'm having terrible probs with girls names, just can't think of any that I like! Boys names, no trouble at all.

Might have to steal Esme MrsMcJ

MrsMcJnr · 01/02/2007 14:15

DH is so set on Xavier or Issac that I don't even think it's worth me looking at boys' names.

You're welcome to borrow Esme!

conkertree · 01/02/2007 16:27

ooh kitkat can you share some of your boys names cause i can only think of about 3 that i like

BabyMadwithBump · 01/02/2007 17:06

greedyforbabies · 01/02/2007 19:59

oh my god! dont start talking about names! i dont like to think about that yet! everytime i start to think of names or what i will do about work, i stop myself cos i dont want to get carried away yet.
i cant wait to tell my ds too whoever said that! my dd is too young to understand, but he will, and i will get millions of difficult questions to answer from him!

fettle · 01/02/2007 20:36

Evening all - having a bit of a wobble this evening and DH has gone out, so thought I come and see if anyone was around?

Greedy, it was me who is looking forward to telling DD - I don't think she's really old enough to understand either, I managed to get into a discussion about what gears are for in a car on the way home from work with her today - she's only 2 (well 3 in April, but still...) I don't know how gears work, but she wanted to know. Then we had to go through it all again while she was procrastinating about going to sleep tonight!! [did you like my long word, have I spelt it right!!].

I've got a pharmacology degree, so as an old landlord said to me at university, I do drugs?! Surprised he let his house to me after that!!

Do still use my degree, but not to do research anymore - work in industry. You seem to have lots of degrees! Chiropractor - is that where you have crick people's backs back in - I couldn't do that - hate the sound of bones cracking!!

Right, going to get some supper, as I have to keep eating even if I feel low.

By the way, we only had girls names chosen before we had DD, so luckily we were right in our guess that she was a girl, or else we would have had a nameless wonder for a few days!! however, I'm with Greedy, too early to even think about that for me at the mo with this one!

x

Bodkin · 02/02/2007 08:08

Hi all - Fettle, hope you're ok, sorry no-one was around for you last night. I didn't realise our DD's were a similar age - mine just turned 3 in Jan. It's a lovely age don't you think - they're just so full of life and chat - exhausting at 6.45 am , but otherwise hilarious.

LissieLou - I have seen a few of your threads over the last week - sounds like you have been having a really tough time - how are things for you now?

Greedy - you are a woman of many talents! A scientist and a chiropractor..... what made you decide to give up the drugs, so to speak, and start on the backs?

Hey Ready - lovely to see you popping in - I really hope that things happen for you soon, we NEED you on here! I have been having a bit of a lurk on conception, but not for the last couple of days - you're coming up to crunch time soon aren't you? Fingers crossed and double crossed.

Kitkat - sorry to here about your MS, not long to go now until you start to turn the corner and feel more like your old self again - I think it was at about 13/14 weeks for me.

Had a MW appt yesterday - a load of bloods taken etc. But heard the heartbeat!!! Somehow I was more thrilled about that than the 12 week scan. It just seems so much more real when you can hear that bumpetty bump next to your own thuddump!

Sending hugs to everyone who is at early stages and feeling a bit wobbly. I'm wishing for healthy happy pregnancies for us all.

KitKat30 · 02/02/2007 09:20

Morning everyone - hope you're all OK this friday morning?

Hi girls - Hope everyone is well and happy this morning (its very sunny here in Edinburgh!)

Such good news from you Greedy! I can imagine you wont be totally happy until Monday, but its such good news so far.

Fettle - Sorry that you were having a wobble, hope it helped just typing some of it out on MN, and I hope you are feeling a bit better today. I think it is so funny your DD was asking about gears in your car. My DS is only a month younger (3 in May) and he shows very little interest in things other than cars / trucks / buses / tractors / bin lorries etc (do you see a theme ).

So, I think Bodkin, Firstar and me all had midwives appt's yesterday. I had a student in with the midwife and it took her 3 goes to get blood and was moving the needle about in my arm to find a vein (ouch!) - the midwife took over and got it first time - I did feel a little worry for teh student. I also heard the heart beat which was lovely and re-assuring. The student tried first but couldn't find it so that did nothing for my nerves!!!! I guess they've got to learn somehow eh?.

As the midwife had read my notes she knew about the problems with my last pregnancy and I think she could tell I was anxious about everything because she said, hopefully after the anomoly scan I can relax and start enjoying the pregnancy. She was so kind i have to confess I started crying (well shed a few tears, not sobs) - I then told her about the headaches which she thought may be stress related and have got to say I dont have one today...

How did your appt go Firststar?

Re names: I like Ruby for a girl and James for a girl, but I'm thinking that Ruby may be getting a wee bit popular. I also think there is a childrens programme called Max adn Ruby (Max if my DS's name!).... I may have to go back to the drawing board with that!

I hope you are feeling better MrsMcj!!!! Hopefully we can meet next week for lunch and chat [SMILE]

Chooster · 02/02/2007 11:20

Ooops, obviously James would be a boys name, not a girls...

Also, I'm still trying to hide my pregnancy at work (I'm 16 wks on Sunday) and I dont think its working. 2 people yesterday asked "are you PG?" and then some random man this morning asked when the "happy day" was? My boss is very work focussed but even he may have spotted something. My trouble is when I lost my last baby at 21wks I had the awful job of telling people that things hadn't worked out and its just an awkward difficult situation for everyone. I really wanted to avoid that this time until I'm sure its all OK. Guess not though...

KitKat30 · 02/02/2007 11:47

Hi Chooster - glad to hear you're feeling a bit more positive about things. Nice midwives and nurses always make me blub too!

It's really difficult to know when to tell people at work. If all goes well with the 12 week scan I think I'm going to tell people after that. I'm really close to the people in my dept and it just feels weird keeping quiet about something which is such a major part of my life. (I have told my boss though - only because I needed time off for various appts!)

But having said that I completely understand your hesitance - there's always the horrid 'what if' questions which go through your mind. But then, if something did go wrong - god forbid - I'd probably have to tell them anyway... aargh! I dont know!! No advice - just incessant rambling. I guess only you will know when you're ready to tell people.

Incidentally, I've got my booking in appt with the midwife very soon - do you think DH needs to go? I was thinking not - I imagine it's just routine bloods and forms etc - nothing that he needs to be there for. Is that about right?

BabyMadwithBump · 02/02/2007 12:35

KitKat30 is it your first app with MW if so she'll want to ask him his and his family's history, DH had to go though his mums children as one was borm with CP and another died after being born at only 28 weeks, and so on and so on! Also she asked him of any illness's he may or may not have had! Hope it goes well for you!
Babymadxx

Chooster · 02/02/2007 12:48

Hi! babymad's right about history although my DH hasn't been with me at any of my booking in appt's - I just knew his family medical history. In his case its quite simple are there is no history of anything bad. I guess it depends if your DH would have anything to discuss about medical history or if its just a "everything's fine" answer. He wouldn't miss much if he doesn't go.

How's your sickness babymad? Are you doing better now?

KitKat30 · 02/02/2007 12:56

Ahh ok - thanks for the tip. Will leave it up to him - and if he cant make it, will just quiz him re family history! Thanks guys.

Hi firststar - a list of questions would be great thank you, but only if you have the time? I dont want you to have to spend ages writing everything out!
