We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Hi, I have used lactulose throughout my pregnancy and it has been a life saver. Also eat a lot of prunes. I think that the iron in the pregnancy vitamins as well as everything else mean it has been more than needed for me!

MrsChrisPratt · 23/07/2016 08:06

Hi All, for the second day running I've woken up to spotting on my liner. I get up at 6 to put in my pessary and there is nothing there then go back to sleep and when I wake up the second time there is a little blood. Trying hard not to freak out as I know it can be quite common but also can't stop the little voice in my head which is saying 'I knew this would happen, you were stupid to think it would work, of course it's going to end ' Sad any advice much appreciated

HopefulKate1980 · 23/07/2016 08:20

Ah mrschris I can imagine why you are worried but could it just be a slight scratch on your uterus from putting in the pessaries?? At any time like this, call the EPU. If they think you are being fussy, don't worry, it's your right to worry. Sorry can't be any more help. Xx

loopylou1984 · 23/07/2016 08:24

Mrschris Sad
How many weeks are you? Xx

MrsChrisPratt · 23/07/2016 08:28

I'm only 5+4. I spoke to my consultant yesterday who said rest, continue with pessaries and hold off my Clexane for now. Haven't rung the EPU yet, I don't even have details for it.

Borisisback · 23/07/2016 08:35

MrsChris spotting does seem to be relatively common. If you are worried call your dictirs abd ask to be refered to epu but the general advice seems to be spotting without pain is ok, but spotting and cramping / pains is to be worried about.

loopylou1984 · 23/07/2016 08:47

I had bleeding around 4 weeks for about 4 days. My clinic said EPU wouldn't scan me until 6 weeks. They did a blood test to check hcg followed by another 3 days later to check it was rising. I understand the fear. I just spent 4 days laying on the sofa. Wishing you loads of luck. Flowers

I worry a bit about how active I've been so far. 7+1 today and it's not like I'm a very sporty person - quite the opposite! - but we moved house in the week leading up to otd and it's been busy with unpacking, work, hospital visits for my daughter and general running around. I haven't rested at all! Today I was running around the shops for seven bloody hours! Viability scan on Monday and very scared it'll all come back to bite me. 😢

Mrs Chris, definitely rest and keep an eye on it. Good luck.

HP07 · 23/07/2016 09:17

MrsChris I had lots and lots of spotting in the first half of my pregnancy. It's not always bad news but it is scary as hell. Nothing I can say to make it any better I'm afraid, as with most things in pregnancy it's out of you control. Good luck, hopefully it's just your highly friable cervix having a little bleed. X

MrsChrisPratt · 23/07/2016 12:56

Thanks all. I read that 50-75% of IVF pregnancies will experience spotting so trying not to happen. It seems to be prompted by the pessaries, although that could be a coincidence, but I am hoping that maybe they are just irritating my cervix a bit. Dh and I are binge watching a box set today and trying to relax and my clinic have bought my scan forward a week so it's this Wednesday rather than next. Can't do more than that so just a case of wait and hope for now.

HopefulKate1980 · 23/07/2016 13:24

Sounds lovely mrschris. Hope you have a nice rest. Best of luck for Wednesday!! Will you be 6 weeks by then??

zenzie - I wouldn't worry. Isn't exercise in general encouraged? I've been really pushing myself with walks and been working long hours but maybe I should be taking it easy?? Have you been advised to rest?? We are going on holiday in 10 days so hopefully that will be the complete rest I need.

I keep freaking out about the thought of going on holiday and miscarrying when I'm there. I'll be (or should be) 9 weeks when I go and 11 when I get back. We haven't got as far as 11 weeks before so I can't get the fear out my mind....

And then there is the anxiety about going through airport scanners.... Will the anxiety ever end?! Xx

Zenzie · 23/07/2016 13:27

Yes Kate, I guess exercise is good. I'm thinking more of just the lack of rest and relaxation,i seem to be constantly on the go. Haven't had a holiday since May 2015 and that one was exhausting! I need a week on the beach (but that's not scheduled until October).

I hope you can enjoy your holiday! Anywhere fun?

HopefulKate1980 · 23/07/2016 13:41

Oh god you poor thing. How old is your DD? I'm not sure how people handle p symptoms and an actual child too!!! V impressive! Are you sleeping ok?

We are off to Croatia. Funnily enough to the same resort that we went to shortly after being told we've never conceive naturally and slim chances with IVF. I spent most of the holiday crying behind my sunglasses and making jealous eyes at all the pregnant women in bikinis. Hopefully this year we will be going back with a growing bean and loads of hope in our hearts. Xxx

loopylou1984 · 23/07/2016 13:46

Ladies, can I ask something that I'm sure has been asked before? When did you all get symptoms? I'm 5+1 today and have no symptoms. If my hcg has continued doubling then it should be over 800 by now... Shouldn't I be feeling something? Xx

Thom80 · 23/07/2016 13:48

mrschrispratt - to stop spotting I changed from the cervix to the rectum. Sorry if that is TMI. It might be worth a try to see if that stops it.

HopefulKate1980 · 23/07/2016 13:49

Everyone is different sammy. I worry too. My sickness comes in waves, but kicked in around 5 weeks, getting worse now but not unbearable. Tiredness has been with me from the v start. It's still early for you and every body copes differently, from what I've been told.. Xz

Vixxfacee · 23/07/2016 13:54

Mrs Chris I spotted from 3.6 weeks until 7 weeks.

Sammy I think it's still really early to get symptoms. My hgc was 1767 14 days post transfer and I started getting sick (hg) at around 6.4.

Having symptoms really helps with the anxiety! Are you having any breast tenderness?

loopylou1984 · 23/07/2016 14:19

Very minor. Some days breasts feel heavy and tender and other days not! The only thing I have is slight cramping... Which of course could be good or bad!

HP07 · 23/07/2016 14:26

Isn't it odd how in the early stages you want to feel sick, feel uncomfortable, sore boobs something to reassure you babu is ok. Now I'm in the third trimester I am suffering from awful heart burn and would do anything to make it go away!

HP07 · 23/07/2016 14:32

*baby!

MrsChrisPratt · 23/07/2016 14:53

I will be 6+1 on Wednesday, do you think a heartbeat will be visible at that point if all is ok?

I can't switch to the back door unfortunately as I am using Utrogestan not cyclogest Angry

I'm 5+4 today and no sickness really, just a couple of random waves over the last week. I have been alternating between constipation and diarrhea though Confused, I've seen that referred to as 'morning shitness' Grin only other symptoms (other than the ohss) are slightly bigger boobs (not much soreness) and bigger darker nipples...its so hard though, sometimes I think I'm just imagining it all.

Vixxfacee · 23/07/2016 14:58

Mrs Chris the nurse told me that if your hcg is above 1000 then something should be visible on a scan. I had a scan at 5 weeks and they just saw a sac but it was in the right place and the shape was what they expected. They said come back a week later and then the heartbeat was visible.

Sammy I think breast tenderness on and off is normal!

HP the symptoms really do help the anxiety don't they. When they stop even for a day you start to panic. Can't wait to get to your stage!

loopylou1984 · 23/07/2016 15:03

Mrschris - I feel like I'm making the whole thing up. So used to being 'not pregnant' that I can't believe there's any chance of this working out.
My clinic said they can scan at 6 weeks, but prefer 7 as sometimes at 6 you won't see a heart beat. There's a chance you will though, just not necessarily the end of you don't see one.

I've def had constipation followed by what I would call 'urgency' not quite diarrhoea - maybe that's a symptom...

HP - lol. I'd love to have no symptoms as long as I also had Dailey scans to show me all was ok!
I can imagine the late stage is pretty tough, hang in there, you're almost done! Xx

HopefulKate1980 · 23/07/2016 15:10

I'd love some urgency round here!! I do rabbit droppings most days AT BEST. Today was zero movement and my tummy is now the size of a melon. Rock hard and bloated. My boyfriend tried it on this morning and I thought 'if only you knew how blocked up and windy I am, you wouldn't come close....!' Xx

loopylou1984 · 23/07/2016 15:24

Hshsha!
I haven't let DH near me since EC! That's 3 weeks bless him. He hasn't complained once either.
I'm scared I'll start bleeding again if we have sex. X
