We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Oh I would definitely say that would contribute to the pain. You poor thing. Sounds very uncomfortable.

stealthbanana · 01/10/2016 11:05

It's not the worst - just another annoying pregnancy related side effect! Gosh I'll be happy when baby is finally here.

Any update on your imminent arrival? Have contractions started yet?

HP07 · 01/10/2016 11:36

No there is no movement on the baby front. I am booked for induction tomorrow and we just have to wait for the call from the hospital to tell us to come in. Really hoping they aren't too busy otherwise it will be postponed :(

lucieloos · 01/10/2016 13:12

Good luck hp! Can't wait to hear the good news!

I've been reading that prednisone can mask a lot of pregnancy symptoms especially morning sickness. Has anyone taken them and noticed this? Having said that I'm feeling quite queasy today although don't know if I've just eaten too much for breakfast Grin

stealthbanana · 01/10/2016 13:41

Good luck hp! Really hope things are not delayed any further for you.

lucie sadly pred did nothing to help my MS but I do remember it gave me a burst of energy at one point - I woke up feeling a million times better than i had the day before, and then the penny dropped that I'd been on the pred for a couple of weeks at that point. I remember from my extensive googling that it is definitely A Thing.

Good luck HP Flowers

I've also had lots of rib pain :( no idea what causes it but it's painful on my right hand side at times, usually worse by the end of the day. It hurts about where my bra goes, even when I'm not wearing a bra :( the things we deal with!

Jenbot78 · 01/10/2016 16:16

Lucieloos it sounds like we might be at similar stages of pregnancy. I am 8+1 today.

I am really interested in the answer to the steroid question too. I am on 25mg Pred. I am constantly on the lookout for queasiness myself as a good symptom! I had one morning this week where I was dry retching bile, but able to scoff down my breakfast five minutes later. I seem not to feel that great if I let myself get really hungry but nothing like what everyone else seems to experience nausea-wise in pregnancy.

Having done an extensive Google it seems that Pred does mask nausea. I see that it is given to women with hyperemesis gravidarum who can't stop puking.

One thing I could do without is the constant hunger, it is driving me crazy and I run out of ideas of what to eat. I am going to be massive by 12 weeks and it is worrying me a bit. Had a weigh in at the docs who put my BMI at 32, before IVF it was 27!! I am putting some if it down to bloat and the steroids and progesterone but seriously!

Any other experiences of steroids anyone?

Borisisback · 01/10/2016 18:00

No experience of steroids - sorry.

The eating constantly I can empathise with. And I have not found a way to manage it - sorry.

Blue2014 · 01/10/2016 19:52

Midwife said lots of carbs for the endless hunger Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2016 22:05

Yep snacking every few hours to try and keep sickness at bay

tho am losing dinner every night :(

I find bagels are good and chicken cuppa soup

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 02/10/2016 02:20

Good luck HP!

HP07 · 02/10/2016 03:52

Thank you all. I am wide awake. Woke up around 1.30am and haven't been able to get back to sleep since. I know this is not good for the potential day I have ahead but I just cannot sleep. I'm like a child on Christmas Eve! I'm up bathed and dressed already!! I will try and fall asleep on the sofa shortly I think otherwise I'm just going to be shattered. I will be miserable if they postpone the induction today.

Borisisback · 02/10/2016 08:27

Oh HP - hope you got some more sleep and I really hope they induce you today and it works quickly. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers - with your little one.

Smurfy1981 · 02/10/2016 10:00

Ps jenbot when I was going through the cavernous hunger first trimester stage, I found the only food that really satiated me was pastry - either pain au raisin type things or eg spinach and ricotta rolls in puff pastry. Obv not particularly good for you, but there was something about the fat + carbs combo that actually contented me. (Ditto with rice + cheese combos.)

Ladies, I'm here! Ive had the protosin pessary and now it's just going to be a whole load of waiting around! Its so exciting! X

Borisisback · 02/10/2016 14:06

HP - eeek how exciting! Although the waiting around doesn't sound fun - but you are a whole massive step closer to meeting your baby :)

stealth - I've eaten a croissant a day since getting pregnant - it's the best thing ever. Think the salt helps too?

Blue2014 · 02/10/2016 14:51

Thinking of you HP Smile

HopefulKate1980 · 02/10/2016 14:55

Good luck HP. Hope it all happens quickly and smoothly! Xx

lucieloos · 02/10/2016 16:41

Good luck hp hope it all goes well!

Jenbot, I'm a couple of weeks behind you. Only 6+2 today, time is going very slowly! I've got my first scan a week Wednesday. Scanxiety will be kicking in soon. I'm so afraid we won't see anything like last time or the heartbeat will be too slow or something. It would be such an amazing feeling if it went well.

Grumpelstiltskin · 02/10/2016 17:07

Wow, exciting times indeed HP! Hope you're progressing well and tall goes smoothly. Can't wait to hear your news!

Sorry to hear you've been in pain, stealth, though amazing news on hitting 27 weeks.

Got my anomaly scan on Weds so scanxiety ramping up here again. Confused On the plus side feeling lots of movement now at 20w which is ace.

Hope everyone is doing well.

loopylou1984 · 02/10/2016 17:30

Eek HP exciting times! Hope you're doing ok.

Lucie - it does feel like time goes so slowly doesn't it? Fx for a fab scan next week. Xx

loopylou1984 · 02/10/2016 17:38

Grumpel - 20 weeks!!! Good luck for your scan too.

I'm just over 15 weeks today, and feeling lots of stretchy type pains. I've assumed they're normal until now as DH said 'do you think we need to get checked' and now I'm worried. It's not terrible pain though, I can still carry on as normal. We have our next scan a week tomorrow, scanxiety is already kicking in for that!
