We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Must be something in the water. We put our house up for sale yesterday! I've made sure my husband knows I will be sitting on my fat pregnant bum doing nothing but shouting orders in between mouthfuls of icecream. (I'm not overly keen on moving- does it show?)

I've only got some buserelin and cyclogest left. I've checked dates and they've still got over 2 years. We are planning to try for a sibling, so just keeping it for now.

Is anyone else getting headaches? I seem to get a couple a week- not really had them before. Paracetamol doesn't shift them.

Borisisback · 28/09/2016 09:49

I've got some half used meds left over from ivf the pills I'll keep the injections I don't know what to do with...

drink I got loads of headaches and I was told to drink loads by the midwife (seems to be her response to most issues). The headaches have eased off in the third trimester (finally).

MPP81 · 28/09/2016 12:52

Hello all!

I'm still religiously stalking on my phone in between unpacking boxes etc!

Blueroses it must have been very difficult to hear the outcome of the tests and post mortem, but, as you said, a relief to have answers. I am thinking of you xx

Lucie!! Im so thrilled to see you here :) I have been keeping up with your news from afar and thinking of you. I've never heard of the harmony test. Is it something which you get done privately? Apart from absolutely shattering tiredness I havent really had any symptoms, so I'm not much help there I'm afraid.

Drink How did you find coming off the progesterone after? I am 10 weeks today and on the same dose as you, and my clinic have said to drop to have dose at 11 weeks and then stop at 12. I am also terrified about this!! On the headaches, I have been having them, but then I got them regularly at AF time so they arent really that unusual for me. They do scare me though, especially as I sometimes get cramps at the same time.

Congratulations on your little boy Kate!

Jenbot how was your scan today?

Boris I cant believe you're 32 weeks! Thats flown by (from where I am anyway - bet it hasnt for you!)

Stealth Congrats on putting in the offer on the house! I'm with you on the multiple life changes stress! We got married in May, had IVF in August and moved home in September! Poor DH even took on a promotion in work. How either of us are still standing seems like a mystery to me at times.

Itsme Glad the scan went well for you!! :-)

Can I ask, how many early scans has everyone had before the NHS ones? I had my private 'viability' (hate that) scan at 6+5 and was going to wait til my NHS 12 week scan on 18th October, at which I will be 12+6, but I am quite nervous and was wondering if its worth booking a second private scan or if I should just chill out and wait. Any thoughts gratefully recieved!

Hope everyone else is ok :-)

lucieloos · 28/09/2016 13:05

MPP, I've been wondering how you've been getting on!! I'm doing ok thanks I've had some mild AF cramps on and off the last couple of days which worried me a little bit but apparently dr Google says its normal! I'm planing on having my first scan on the NHS at 7w5d and then if that goes ok I will book another private one with babybond at 10 weeks and have the harmony test at the same time. The harmony is a private test. It's not particularly cheap but I just want it done for peace of mind.

Can I ask those that have had scans around the 7w5d mark were they internal or external ones?

MPP81 · 28/09/2016 13:12

Lucie I am still getting those AF type cramps now, on and off, and I also consulted Dr Google quite extensively! Everything points to them being normal so I am trying not to worry. Is babybond better to go to than CRGW for scans? If I booked another scan, I think I automatically would have booked there and not considered anywhere else. I'm still so undecided. I'm sorry but I cant help with what they would have done at 7+5 as mine was earlier and was internal.

lucieloos · 28/09/2016 13:19

MPP, I'm sure if you could get in with Jodie at crgw then it would be fine to go there. I've just had mixed experiences there as I've been going there so long and I would rather get my scans done somewhere else at a dedicated scanning place and they also sell all the extra pics and souvenirs etc lol. They have a place on Newport road and are meant to be very good and have all the latest state of the art machines which are very clear. It works for me as they can do the harmony test there as well.

MPP81 · 28/09/2016 13:33

Thanks Lucie, I'll take a look I think. :-)

Borisisback · 28/09/2016 13:48

Lucie - my scan was external at 7 weeks 4 days - very civilised :)

I also had lots of random cramping through the early stages - it was the only symptom I had until I was 9 weeks. Id say try not to worry but that would make me a massive hypocrite.

I only had the one scan before the nhs scan mpp and I was bricking it inthe run up to 12 weeks. If Id had more money I would have booked more scans.

Some kind Bugger just left me stranded in the tesco car park by parking so close to my car that I couldn't get in (being slightly routund at this point I couldn't even climb in from the passenger side). He recognised that he had parked so close but wasn't in the least bit fussed or apologetic about the inconvenience it caused me. Obviously no one told him you don't mess with a pregnant woman. Thank god I'd bought kitkats.

Borisisback · 28/09/2016 13:49

hp thinking of you....

stealthbanana · 28/09/2016 15:39

mpp my viability scan was at 7+3 and was internal. I then had a scan at 10w and had the panorama (harmony) bloods done at the same time. Didn't have the 12w scan until 13+4. But I am under private care so you get a fair few more scans.

boris hope you made it out ok. That sort of thing enrages me at the best of times. People are so inconsiderate.

hp fingers crossed things are happening for you!

OP posts:
Grumpelstiltskin · 28/09/2016 16:31

Lucie I had internal scans for both the 6+5 viability and 9+3 reassurance ones I booked through my clinic. MPP I wanted a 9 week one too as that was when I found out last time I'd had a MMC. It's definitely a long panicky slog to 12w otherwise!

Check all of you and your new houses (tbc) out! Hope it all goes smoothly.

kiwiblue · 28/09/2016 16:36

MPP I had a scan at 7+4 and it was internal- seems it's different for everyone! Mine was NHS, I showed up to my EPU as a walk in appointment. I have a private one on Friday (11+5) and am terrified!

Boris that's so rude, you'd think they'd apologise!

Stealth update on the aspirin for flying, my GP said there isn't strong evidence for it and everyone has a different opinion (like you said with your consultant vs obstetrician) but she wouldn't specifically recommend for me. Just going to take all the normal precautions and hope for the best.

I've also had a lot of headaches and think it's related to thirst, so interesting that some of you have too.

Hp hope you're doing OK!

kiwiblue · 28/09/2016 16:37

Oops I mean Lucie not MPP re scan, sorry!

MPP81 · 28/09/2016 17:08

Thanks for your comments everyone.

Boris its the money thats stopping me more than anything. It doesnt seem alot in the grand scheme of things, next to the thousands on IVF, but as we've just moved etc, the purse strings are a little tight and I can't decide if its worth it or if I'm just being impatient!!

Grumpel I'm sorry to hear about your previous mmc. The panicky slog to 12w is horrendous. I cant wait to get there.

Vixxfacee · 28/09/2016 17:56

I had a scan at 5 and 6 weeks (due to spotting) which was internal. The viability scan at almost 8 weeks was external. I started taking my shoes off and the nurse said no it's over the top leave your clothes on!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2016 18:07

3 internal scans before 12w nhs scan which was done at almost 13w

Milk - you are moving? And if do a fet then probably be progynova and then pesseries week before do fet - as you know I got mine off go for price of prescription when doing cycle 4&5 and then free via being preg for the 10w after

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2016 18:08

Guess depends on area if external or dildo cam

HP07 · 28/09/2016 18:17

Thanks guys. Nothing is happening at this end. 8 days overdue now! Tomorrow is another attempt at a sweep, we shall see how that goes.

Boris my husband keeps telling me that I should put a sign on my car saying pregnant lady. Please don't park too close! Alternatively do you know if you are allowed to par in mother and baby spaces when you are heavily pregnant?

HP07 · 28/09/2016 18:18

*Park

Borisisback · 28/09/2016 18:38

HP - boo for baby overstaying hope the second sweep works!

If I go back to our local tesco when it's busy I'm definitely going to think about parking in the parent and child spaces - it's pretty obvious Im with child now - even if child is internal!

Blue2014 · 28/09/2016 19:43

I parked in a mother and baby space this week. I'm not huge but my feet are killing me and my back is sore, I bloody need to be closer to the store than someone with a 10 year old does! I was ready for the challenge if it came, don't mess with the pregnant lady!

hellotreeshellosky · 28/09/2016 20:28

Hi all, I have been keeping up and tried to post a couple of times but having issues logging in. Lots of lovely bfps lately, welcome all!

blueroses I'm glad you have answers but I'm so sorry you had to lose your beautiful boy to get them. Still thinking of you.

HP hope baby makes an appearance soon. Lots of countries would say you are only just due! Sometimes I think due dates just add to the stress. Hope all goes well.

I am about 26 weeks, baby is growing well according to serial scans, so far so good... Getting lots of movements. I am feeling fine but starting to find work very tiring and looking forward to the end in 10 weeks or so! Loads to do in that time though... We are also having building work done in our house so I can relate to those with a lot going on...

Incidentally, my 8w scan was internal.

The only thing I have left over is a few utrogestan pessaries and a ton of applicators! I found it easier not to use them. Any use to anyone? It feels like such a waste to throw all that plastic away.

drinkyourmilk · 28/09/2016 22:11

MPP81 my clinic just told me to take full dose of cyclogest until 12 weeks then stop totally. After speaking to others who have had ivf I ended up titrating down over the course of week and stopping a few days after 12th weeks. I did get some cramping which worried me, but it stopped after 3 days.
I had a scan at 5 weeks at my EPAU due to cramps and bleeding and my viability scan (hate saying that ) at the clinic at 6+2. These were both internal. I then had a private at 10 weeks (external) before my 12 week NHS scan. I'll be having at least 1 more private before my 20 week scan too (probably 2 as both sets of parents want to see and they do not get on). I'm incredibly anxious (as I'm learning we all are! ) and I'm going to have as many scans as it takes to get me through the first couple of trimesters until baby starts kicking.

My headache hasn't left for over 24 hours now- I'm going to have to cave and take more paracetamol. I keep eyeing the ibuprofen box up! Would one dose hurt? I'm still drinking my 2 litres. Maybe I need more. I find it hard with the nausea though.

HP I can't believe you are still going. Hopefully tomorrow's sweep will start things. If not you'll have an induction booked in so at least the will be a definite date.

Blondes Yep, house went on sale today I'm told. I've yet to look at pictures. We are currently in a 1st/2nd floor maisonette. So no outside space, and nowhere to bring pushchair into house-would need to stay in the car. We've also got an upside down house, so our living room is top floor and everything else bottom. Meas leaving baby for a cup of tea etc which freaks me out atm. Apparently you can't borrow as much once you've a child either- and if possible we want a 4 bed, so moving it is. I'm not happy about it, but it's necessary alas. Means I'm just a bit more overwhelmed than normal.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2016 22:38

Bless you - all good reasons - happy house hunting

Mmp - I also cut down gradually. Tho my clinic advised that. Half dose for a week then stop at 12w tho I did take till had my
NHS dating scan

Hp I would def park in baby and parent spaces if heavily preg

HP07 · 28/09/2016 22:39

They really do say that it should be paracetamol only and no ibuprofen so I wouldn't take the risk if I were you. I know it is tempting as I've been poorly a few times in the pregnancy and would usually down everything on offer. Hope your head feels better soon.
