We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

It's just a simple blood test but apparently some of the babies blood mixes with yours so it can pick up any genetic abnormalities with around 99% accuracy. I wouldn't need the nhs tests then. Results take about a week to come back. Not sure I can persuade dh he seems pretty adamant and I don't really want to push him into it if he really doesn't want to know.

stealthbanana · 25/09/2016 12:57

lucie! So pleased to see you over here. Fx everything continues smoothly

As you know I had the harmony test (well it was the panorama but they're basically the same thing). You could always ask your consultant/whoever gets the results back to black out the line on the report where they tell you the sex but hold the results in your file so if you change your mind a week later you can find out. It's definitely worth doing just for the certainty on the chromosomal aspects though - knocks one thing off the list you have to worry about in amongst it all

sammy 💐

hp sending HURRY UP BABY vibes your way.

Thanks stealth yes I definitely want to do it as want to know asap so if everything is ok like you say it's one less thing to worry about. That's a good idea to ask them to hold the info on file incase we change our minds. Anyway I shouldn't even be thinking about this yet as I have such a long way to go and lots to get through first. I try not to think ahead too much but sometimes it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement Confused

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2016 13:30

Lucie. How old are you? I'm 43 and just had results back and all clear

Sammy. Sickness is awful and think with twins and identical ones you get more hormones so feel worse

I feel bad enough with one bubs tho as was so sick from early on I did wonder if embroyo had split into 2 but scan showed not

Said it before but rest and sleep really help with sickness with HG

lucieloos · 25/09/2016 13:34

Blonde, I'm 37, I know it's not mega old but I just worry about everything. I don't seem to have much luck and if there's a small chance something could go wrong it will probably happen to me!

Blue2014 · 25/09/2016 14:01

I had the harmony test Lucie, we chose to find out the sex and they do it to test for additional chromosomal problems that are gender specific.

also helps to know he's a boy now I'm finally getting brave enough to decorate the nursery! I'll be 34 weeks (all being well) before it starts to be decorated, I can't imagine what it must be like to be an instadiffer who feels carefree enough to just buy baby things really early on!

Blue2014 · 25/09/2016 14:02

Ps Lucie, can I be nosy, is this an NHS bfp or a Reprofit one? Smile

kiwiblue · 25/09/2016 14:12

Welcome Lucie, I also remember you from when I was on this thread the first time Smile Huge congratulations, and fingers crossed for you.

I think the sickness kicked in for me around 6 weeks... even though it was awful it did make me reassured!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2016 14:13

It's not mega old but understand the worry

Friend had a downs baby at think 34. They didn't do the test so had no idea till her baby was born

Also Havnt brought anything baby wise tho 13w

lucieloos · 25/09/2016 14:59

Thanks blue, do you just get the results emailed in a report or did they ring you with them? This an nhs bfp but we have 4 frosties in Brno. 2 of which have been tested and found to be chromosomally normal.

Thanks kiwi, I remember you too Smile Hope all is going well.

Blonde, one of my friends who was 32 at the time had a trisomy incompatible with life. The NHS missed it and they had to have a termination at 28 weeks, it was horrendous which is part of the reason I want everything checked as early as possible.

loopylou1984 · 25/09/2016 15:10

We went to a bootsale this morning and bought a few baby grows and now I feel terrible like I've jinxed us or something Sad

Blue2014 · 25/09/2016 16:55

Oh sammy, I know that exact feeling, it's awful isn't it. But remember a babygro won't make any difference to outcome (and instadiffers do it all the time!)

Lucie - they phoned and emailed with the results, I didn't answer the phone as I wanted to be with DH when I answered. Congrats on the NHS bfp Smile

lucieloos · 25/09/2016 17:00

Sammy, I know how you feel too. We don't dare even talk about it at the moment. Like blue said though it isn't going to change anything and I'm sure all will be fine now.

Blue, I'm the same I hate people ringing with results I would rather they just email so that I can look at them in my own time when I'm ready. I think all those calls after egg collection have put me off for life!

loopylou1984 · 25/09/2016 18:51

Thanks girls, I know that really. Xx

drinkyourmilk · 25/09/2016 22:05

Welcome to all the newbies. I was very ill for the first couple of weeks after bfp and then it all cleared up. 10 weeks and it came back with a vengeance. I'm now metoclopramide 3x day and just about make it through the day. I'm generally sick during the night, which means I'm running on empty all day.

HP I hope things are progressing and all that nipple tweaking is paying off!

Blueroses I'm so sorry to hear about Jorvan. It's not something anyone should have to deal with. I'm glad the results have given you some comfort. Be kind to yourself.

Zenzie · 26/09/2016 00:23

Hi and welcome Lucie! Would you have been on some ttc threads from about 2-3 years ago, not the "oh fuck infertility" ones? I feel like I remember your name. Anyway, huge congratulations and everything crossed. A good friend had two ectopics from natural conception and then had to have ivf to decrease the risk of more, and had zero issues with her pregnancy.

I had the harmony test, just for screening reasons. We declined to find out the sex. We didn't for our daughter either (I won the coin toss) but the sonographer wrote the sex on a piece of paper and stuck it in an envelope for us. We forgot about it and opened it when baby was about four months old! (It was right.)

HP07 · 26/09/2016 05:37

Lucie no we don't hear much from Birchygoo these days. I hope everything is going ok with her.

I'm still here and still pregnant, now 6 days overdue!

Hope everyone is doing well.

lucieloos · 26/09/2016 11:21

Hp, hope Birchy is ok. She was really nice when I was going through the bleeding and ectopic. Hope your baba hurries up!

Zenzie, hi there, I was on the ttc threads around that time so we have probably crossed paths at some point. My ectopic was an ivf one unfortunately but hoping we were just unlucky and this one will go smoothly.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2016 11:35

The sickness of HG and retching is awful. Medicine does help but doesn't cure

Waves to all

Sure I shall start buying stuff after 20w but as taken 10yrs and 5 private ivf to get here I'm so wary

Borisisback · 26/09/2016 22:16

HP - hoping it all gets moving for you soon.

Lucie! Welcome. Really excited to see you here. Everything crossed for a sticky one. X

We've only just started buying stuff - got a pram today as the first thing we've bought. 32 weeks today..... We have been given lots if stuff tho which is amazing.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 27/09/2016 01:27

Lucie!!!!! Congratulations - I'm so pleased for you, and fx everything goes well xx

HP I hope things start moving for you very soon.

32 weeks already Boris? Gulp, things must be starting to feel real :)

I have a question - if anyone had left over fertility meds, what did you do with them? I have a gonal f pen sitting in the fridge but don't want to throw it out.

Hello to everyone!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2016 08:37

Can you get a refund?

I have lots of progynova and cyglest (sp) pesseries as gp gave me lots but lucky did it on a nhs prescription and as preg this time got for free tho slightly diff as was a fef so no injections

stealthbanana · 27/09/2016 08:48

Is it used or still in the box genghis? If the latter you can probably return it. If not just take it back to wherever you took your sharps. (Which reminds me that I still have all my Lubion sharps to return - will do that when I next go to the hospital.)

boris so exciting that you're 32w. Not long now!

lucie hope everything is going ok and you're managing to control the scanxiety ok

26+3 today. Have bought nothing. Suddenly realised there are only a finite number of weekends til this little bruiser turns up so we better get moving! Am also telling people at work this week, should be fun Hmm Also put an offer in on a house today - nothing like having multiple large life changes going on at the same time

to everyone else

Itsme247 · 27/09/2016 10:17

Exciting stuff stealth! Had my dating scan today, 13w4d and all looking good.

I've been given an enormous amount of stuff by my family, so I don't really need to buy anything apart from a pram...

Thankfully we aren't finding out, so I can buy some yummy newborn outfits suitable for a girl and a boy :)

loopylou1984 · 27/09/2016 16:54

Stealth - we are also looking to move, have had an offer accepted but yet to see ours so I'm with you on the multiple huge life events. We also have to get 2 news cars! Agh!! Lol. Xx
