We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

I have heard about nipple stimulation too!

Stealth I think you are right about the drowsiness. I have been having 1 or 2 naps a day which I couldn't do if I was at work properly.

You really do not have long to go before you are off. Are you having an induction ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2016 11:51

Must be lucky. They don't make me extra drowsy tho often stay in bed till noon as the quieter and stiller I lay the better the rest of the day is

Yes nipple tweaking is the way to go. Yourself or partner massage and pull nipples. Meant to send signals to brain and uterus to start contractions

Grumpelstiltskin · 23/09/2016 12:21

Good luck HP! Hope the baby comes sooner rather than later. Nipple twiddling for you it is then!

Stealth, vixx, Sammy, blondes massive sympathies to you regarding ongoing sickness. Don't know how you do it day after day. Flowers

Exciting about mat leave plans, stealth. My company are being oddly proactive and are already recruiting for my replacement in Jan, which makes me feel a whole other layer of 'jinxing it by telling other people' nervous. I'm only 19wks!

Blueroses so sad to hear your update. I'm glad you have answers and some closure but it's just devastating that it was something you couldn't have known about previously and therefore treat. It's so unfair. I hope that you and DH are doing ok. Xx

stealthbanana · 23/09/2016 16:15

Gosh - bed til noon! Naps! I'm still at full tilt at work so really it's usually a 8-8ish day + evening functions - occasionally I'll grab a power nap in my office but that's it. Am really looking forward to starting to slow down as I'm so tired. But just grinding through.

vixx - I haven't made any decision about birth yet. Tbh I haven't even decided whether I want a c section or a vaginal birth. I have my first midwife appointment in a couple of weeks, am guessing they will raise it then. Certainly my consultant has said that he considers my pregnancy to be entirely normal (bar the extra growth scans for the low PAPP A and hypermobility combined) so I'm not sure why they would be saying I needed inducing at this point.

grumpel great that your work are being proactive. Mine, as predicted, are being useless - so am just doing it myself. And 19w! Fantastic news. Are you having our anomaly scan next week?

OP posts:
Grumpelstiltskin · 23/09/2016 16:42

Ugh no, anomaly scan is late at 20+6 so the week after next, sadly!
Stealth, your workload is making me feel sleepy. Hope you get to slow down soon.

stealthbanana · 23/09/2016 17:13

Ah. So much waiting! Are you feeling movement yet grumpel? I find that a bit reassuring.

Yes I'm completely over the work thing. My boss is putting me forward for a big new opportunity (basically to run part of my company that would be merged with another company and then we'd take it public and list it on a stock exchange) and it's great but he keeps referring to "my personal situation" and I just don't think it's sunk in that I WILL be off work for 6 months! And in the meantime I've got this crazy relentless schedule. Gah!

loopylou1984 · 23/09/2016 17:39

I'm working full time too stealth, it's really tough. Trying to stay up past 8.30pm is impossible.

I'm not planning on quitting the meds yet, possibly not at all if I'm anything like you girls Confused

I have scans at 16+3 then every two weeks from then. I guess 20+3 is still the anomaly (hate that word) scan. Xx

Smurfy1981 · 23/09/2016 18:12

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2016 10:38

See you are a cm. I'm a maternity night nanny and yes I sleep when baby does 😴😴😴😴😴

Jenbot78 · 24/09/2016 15:34

Thanks for the warm welcome and the encouragement. Is helping me see the light at the end of the tunnel. Still knicker spotting like crazy and getting anxious every time my boobs feel less sore. Have a scan on Wednesday (will be nearly 8 weeks) and wondering what we will see! Keep thinking what if nothing is in there lol! So exciting for you ladies who are near the end, does it get any easier?

Blue2014 · 24/09/2016 18:29

I'm still knicker checking and will be 30 weeks in a few days! But, yes it does get a little easier Smile

HP07 · 24/09/2016 19:11

The weirdest part is when you get to my stage and you start checking and hoping you might have had your bloody show! Until now though I have been checking daily for the whole pregnancy due to a stressful start and repeated bleeds. I find it gets a bit easier when the baby is moving regularly but I do get stressed sometimes in the morning when the baby hasn't woken up yet and you need to feel the first kick or wriggle of the day to reassure you.

Blue2014 · 24/09/2016 19:31

Oh I feel exactly the same in the mornings HP! Smile good to know it's not just me

I'm nervously popping my head in here to say hi. I know lots of you from the infertility boards and also recognise some faces from when I was here back in March / April but sadly had an ectopic. I am now pregnant again but only 5+2 at the moment which I know is sooo early! I had some betas last week which went really well and trebled in 48 hours and I got my 3+ on the digi this morning so there's nothing left to do now but hope that all goes well until my scan which is 2 weeks Wednesday (7+5). I've been through countless rounds of ivf to get this far and with the ectopic pregnancy last time where we went to our first scan and nothing was there I'm terrified that something will go wrong again. I was hoping I could share the journey here with others that understand. I don't have any symptoms at the moment apart from increasingly sore boobs. When will things like tiredness / sickness kick in? I'm half wishing for them just to make it all a bit more real!

Blue2014 · 25/09/2016 10:23

Lucie!! Hi, welcome back, great news on your bfp.

I never really got the tiredness. Sickness kicked in from about 7 weeks but was really on and off for the first few weeks, as were sore boobs.

HP07 · 25/09/2016 10:33

Hi Lucie, I remember you from way back this year. So glad to see you are here again and wishing you lots and lots of luck with this pregnancy. :) xx

lucieloos · 25/09/2016 10:46

Aww thanks both.

Blue, sounds like I still have a bit of a way to go before getting any real symptoms then.

Hp, so lovely to see you here again and your baby is due any day! Wishing you lots and lots of luck and hope everything goes smoothly with the birth. Does birchygoo post here anymore?

loopylou1984 · 25/09/2016 10:51

Waves to Lucie!

Nausea kicked in around 7 and a half weeks, tiredness around 9. Still waiting for the sore boobs! Lol.

I'm having a rough morning here, nausea big time even though I've taken my metoclopramide and I've got to face sainsburys in the next 30 minutes.

On the plus side my neighbour has just offered her old changing table for free, so all being well I'm going to get it from her after the 20 week scan and paint it up! Project! Xx

lucieloos · 25/09/2016 10:58

Aww sorry to hear you are feeling rough Sammy! I can see you've had a hard time of it. I hope it starts to pass for you soon. That's fab about the changing table. Are you going to find out the sex of the twins?

I'm quite disappointed it takes so long for the symptoms to start haha!

loopylou1984 · 25/09/2016 11:23

Lucie I felt the same as you, then they came and I wondered what I was thinking. However days when they were better I wished for them back! Lol.

Yes we're going to find out, fx at the 16 week scan! Xx

lucieloos · 25/09/2016 11:27

Aww haha yeah I bet when they do come it won't be so great but I just want to know something is going on in there! I think I'm going to get the harmony test at 10 weeks if we get that far which screens for downs and other trisomys as I'm terrified now that at my age there could be something wrong. If you get that done they can tell you the sex at 10 weeks which I think is amazing but dh wants us to have a surprise Confused

loopylou1984 · 25/09/2016 12:43

At our 12 week scan the sonographer said she thought it was boys, but we're taking that with pinch of salt!
What's involved with the harmony test? I'm sure you can talk your DH round to finding out the gender! Xx
