We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Blueroses - I'm glad you have answers.
That's a scary thought though, I didn't even know what was something that could happen. Will you be on bed rest when you're pregnant again or is the stitch enough to carry on s normal?

I'm nearly 14 weeks now. How is it everyone else's pregnancy seems to fly by but my own is moving at a snails pace?!
I'm still have to take the anti nausea meds, I tried to come off them with disastrous consequences! Lol.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2016 10:02

Hi all

I'm blondes and 43

10yrs ttc and 4 failed private ivf and the 5th worked

Still don't believe it and still wary

Now 13w today 💓💓

Had 4 scans so far just to check and see and hear baby to reassure myself and DF

Have hg tho mild compared to some. Tablets help. Have good days and bad but nothing like w4-8 when was being sick 12/15 times a day or retching

Vixxfacee · 22/09/2016 10:13

Stealth glad to see he's doing well and is big and strong! Grin

Congratulations Kate another boy!

Blueroses Flowers I hope you get some peace from what has been said. How sad that it can only be discovered afterwards. So sad for you, your DH and baby Jovan.

Blondes! Glad to see you are here. 13 weeks already. Everyone's pregnancies seem to go so quickly but mine. SAMMY I can't believe you are 14 weeks as well!

I'm 22 weeks today. I still knicker spot constantly. He has days where he doesn't move then days like now when it's constant. Belly has suddenly grown and movement is all over now rather than the low kicks previously.

HP good luck! How exciting.

Hi to everyone else. There are so many of us now Smile

Blueroses99 · 22/09/2016 10:33

Sammy I'd never heard of cervical incompetence either until a mumsnetter mentioned it a few days after Jovan was born (it explained so many things that I was already convinced in my own mind that it was the cause). I was too early in the pregnancy to read about birth or signs of labour, but one is the release of the mucus plug 'the show'. If I'd have known that what it was I would have been at the hospital sooner. It wouldn't have made a difference to the outcome but I would have avoided the delay and extra travel on the day. Some people on forums have bedrest, but not everyone does, and also some have progesterone supplements, it think it depends on the type of stitch.

Thanks Vixx. Sound like you've got a wriggler!

Welcome Blondes.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2016 14:08

blueroses I have just read the whole thread. I am so sorry for your loss of your son Joven (beautiful name) and have donated on your link - and yes that term 'late miscrartuage' doesn't do justice. much love 💐💐💐💐

Blueroses99 · 22/09/2016 15:14

Thank you so much blondes, that's such a lovely message too. Sands has been a lifeline for us.

Blue2014 · 22/09/2016 15:41

blueroses - I don't know whether it's too soon for me to be sending such messages but I thought you may want to know. We have a new member of staff in our office who talks of her 3 children. I found out this week that her eldest son was born at 22 weeks and did not survive for the same reason as your son. Firstly, it was nice to hear of her speak of him but also, she now has two sons in their 20's born after her first as, for her, treatment once the hospital were aware was relatively simple for her following pregnancies. I hope this is you one day Flowers with love as always x

And hi blondes, welcome Smile

kiwiblue · 22/09/2016 15:50

Hi everyone, great to hear you're all doing well- you all seem so far along now! Hp so exciting, good luck!!

Blueroses I'm glad you got some answers and that it was the best possible outcome for you. Thinking of you, as always.

One of the women at my work recently lost her baby. She was past 20 weeks and an anomaly was picked up at 20 week scan. It's so sad and scary. The one positive though is that it's really making miscarriage much less of a taboo at my work, and I hope, making people more understanding. I confided in two colleagues and one of them mentioned to me how two others had told her they had also miscarried. I feel much less alone now and realise I'm not the only person who has been struggling. So I hope this will mean people (me included) feel they can be more open about it and get more support.

I'm nearly 11 weeks. Couldn't get an NHS scan before I go on holiday (I'm away from 11+5 to 15+1) so having a private scan next week at 11+5. Will be a bit of a scary day as I miscarried at that time last time and am also going on a 30 hour flight later that day!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2016 16:47

Do you have to fly?

I'm going on holiday at the weekend and doing 4.5hr flight. Clinic gp and obstetrician all said fine to go but they wouldn't advise much longer flight then what I am doing

I'm on aspirin heparin injections and been advised to walk about - drink water and wear flight socks

kiwiblue · 22/09/2016 18:42

blondes I've been told it's perfectly fine. Just to wear compression socks and keep hydrated. I'm not considered high risk and not post IVF, maybe that's why.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2016 20:13

Glad to hear it :)

Think as I'm old, ivf and had a dvt 10yrs ago I'm Considered high risk :(

Safe flight and lovely holiday x

stealthbanana · 22/09/2016 20:30

kiwi I've flown loads (and long haul too) during this pregnancy. Absolutely no reason to worry about it. Compression socks & baby aspirin plus staying hydrated and moving around a bit are all you need. (And even the aspirin is debatable - my IVF consultant said take it, my obstetrician said don't bother).

blueroses am pleased you have some answers in terms of what happened to Jovan. I am so sorry. Would echo what the others said - cervical incompetence with the proper monitoring and a stitch is very manageable, and I'm sure you will one day have a baby in your arms. It's just such a shame you had to lose Jovan first to know there was a problem. Flowers for you and big love xx

vixx so pleased all is well and that you've finally popped. How's the nausea? Are you back at work?

sammy I'm going to be on the anti emetics til the end now I think. Too risky to try to come off them again!

Hurrah for good scans for all.

stealth thanks for the reassurance- that really helps Smile

HP07 · 22/09/2016 21:27

Hi Guys, the sweep failed today. My cervix is completely closed and posterior so the midwife said it is unlikely that the baby will come imminently. More waiting before we meet baby HP...

stealthbanana · 22/09/2016 21:31

ahhhh hp! Was going to ask how the sweep went. Fingers crossed you have some movement soon. Such a shame. Was the sweep itself ok? Did it hurt? crosses legs tightly

kiwi Smile my first flight was 5 days after ET and I fly at least once a fortnight. All good!

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 22/09/2016 22:13

Stealth I am still sick.Trying to cut down to 1 tablet. How about you?
I am back at work but totally skiving. I was saying to dp earlier that my head isn't in it. I've been working from home (said lightly) and will just lie on the sofa watching the baby move. I've been waiting so long for this that it feels like nothing else matters.

Not sure if that's normal but count down to January for maternity leave!

Ah HP that is frustrating. What is the next step?

HP07 · 22/09/2016 22:36

I have to go for another sweep next Thursday if no baby by then. If there is still no progress they will start the motions for induction on Sunday 2nd.

The sweep/cervical examination wasn't too bad. It wasnt comfortable by any stretch but it was over quite quickly as the midwife couldn't bring my cervix forward and said there was no point on keep trying. It was like sharp stabby pains to the cervix but I breathed through them and it was ok. I have a terribly low pain threshold as well so if I can manage I'm sure others could. I have been bleeding since and having some light period type pains but nothing else has progressed and obviously I don't expect it to at the moment.

Vixx I hope the sickness starts to improve. I get what you mean about being consumed with thoughts of the baby and stuggling to concentrate on work etc.

stealthbanana · 23/09/2016 08:11

Gosh the waiting must be making you crazy hp! Glad the sweep wasn't unpleasant.

vixx sorry you're still ill. Me too - I'm taking 2x pills (metaclopramide, have stopped the cyclizine) and am still being sick but only 1-2 times a day at most - some days not at all. I think I'll just stick here until the end now.

Know what you mean about work! I'm really trying to focus as I've just realised I've only got 12 working weeks left and so much to do Shock. It creeps up on you!

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 23/09/2016 08:52

Stealth I've tried to cut down to 2 metoclopramide but by day 2 I'm usually feeling horrendous :(. I just want an easy pregnancy after the struggle to conceive, is that really too much to ask?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2016 09:06

I don't dare cut down sickness tablets. On max dose. 3 a day . On cyclizine after recommendations on another thread

I feel a lot better - have good days and no sickness and bad days when sick 1-2 times a day. And occasionally a really bad day when stay in bed all day feeling total crap and retching and being sick

I don't want to go back to feeling shit all day every day and not being able to keep anything down

It is save to stay on max dose all preg. Went on them about 9w

stealthbanana · 23/09/2016 09:40

sammy I stopped them altogether for 3w which I think readjusted my dosage. It wasn't a good idea Grin Doctor has said it's perfectly safe to take up to 4 a day so if I have a bad day I'll occasionally take an extra in the afternoon if I can keep it down but 2 seems to be ok. Don't forget you've got double the amount of hormones!

blondes that's exactly it - good days and bad days. Sadly you can never predict which is which. Horrendous!

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 23/09/2016 09:56

HP sorry if this is a silly question but have you tried all the methods that they say? Hopefully things will get going before next Thursday! It must feel like forever when you are at the end of your pregnancy.

Stealth how comes you stopped the cyclizine? I am a bit like you I have come to accept that this is part of the pregnancy!

12 weeks until maternity leave, wow. Have you decided how long you are taking off yet and the babies name?

Sammy I agree with stealth you should stay on. Sickness is horrendous and if they are working then stick with it!

Blondes glad the cyclizine is working for you. My sickness was at its peak between 7-15 weeks and then I cut down to 2 tablets a day.

HP07 · 23/09/2016 10:07

I have tried a lot of things already. Pineapple, kiwis, some spicy food although I'm not a big fan of curry or anything too hot, walks, bouncing on the birth ball, raspberry tea leaf. Sex is quite uncomfortable at this stage so it's just not happening but did try it last week ;)

If you have any other suggestions I'm open to it. I have blitzed the whole house several times over and all that did was give me a really bad back each time from over exertion.

stealthbanana · 23/09/2016 10:36

vixx I found the cyclizine made me feel really drugged up - tired and woozy and sort of hot. (Maybe because it's an antihistamine? I don't know.) It started to settle down but then I stopped it. Given that the metaclopramide seems to be adequate I'd rather stick with that and up my dosage than go back on the cyclizine. Just a bit easier to function at work etc!

Yes 12 weeks to go - I'm going to leave at 38w, take a week of holiday and then officially start at 39w (which is Christmas Day!). Haven't decided on names yet. I'm going to take 6 months off.

Hp the book "expecting better" says the only thing shown to actually work is nipple stimulation
