We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

OP posts:

It's crazy isn't it boris, I know my trust are hyper sensitive to IVF but on the plus side it has meant extra scans and I don't mind that bit of extra reassurance. I moved house whilst pregnant and my old trust had nothing in place for IVF pregnancies only 30 mins away from each other!

Consultant said she offers induction because of anxiety and risks after 40 weeks.

I will look into it more because I have read a few things like you are more likely to have interventions (forceps etc) and more likely to have drugs with an induction. But at the same time you will do anything to get the baby here safely.

Blue2014 · 15/09/2016 21:37

Induction is also supposed to hurt quite a lot more Confused

Vixxfacee · 15/09/2016 21:44

I don't think you can have a water birth either?

hellotreeshellosky · 15/09/2016 22:33

Where I work it depends what type of induction. We can continuously monitor in the pool so we can offer water for certain inductions.

I am ' high risk ' because of issues with my previous pregnancy, previous CS and ivf. My area does offer induction at 40 weeks (at least some consultants do) but I won't be accepting it. It is certainly more painful for most women and can lead to further intervention as you say.

The way I look at it is... I will not accept recommendations because they are offered to all women in a certain category. If cons can explain to me how my individual risks can be mitigated by an intervention I will consider it. As it is I am taking all the scans and appointments for now and if all is well at the time I am considering home birth. Dunno how that will go down but the midwives are supportive at least.

loopylou1984 · 16/09/2016 06:28

I'm high risk because of mcda twins, but no one seems to really care about the IVF.
We're consultant lead and have first app with them at 16 weeks 3 to go!). We also have fortnightly scans from 16 weeks! Xx

Borisisback · 16/09/2016 07:23

Sammy are you that far on now? Have you told people?!

loopylou1984 · 16/09/2016 08:14

I'm 13 weeks today Boris!

loopylou1984 · 16/09/2016 08:16

I'm 13 weeks today Boris!
And yes, we've told everyone. Feels so weird!

Blue2014 · 16/09/2016 15:14

That's great news sammy Smile

The good news for me today is that the consultant doesn't think I need to take Fragmin after all Smile

loopylou1984 · 16/09/2016 17:40

Thanks blue :)
I have today got my prescription for aspirin due to high pre eclampsia risk, a repeat of my anti sickness as I still need them and a prescription for some thrush cream ... Oh the joys. Still, at least they're all free! Lol. Xx

Blue2014 · 16/09/2016 17:55

... There's still piles to come sammy Blush

loopylou1984 · 16/09/2016 18:36

Oh dear Sad
Lol

Smurfy1981 · 17/09/2016 20:26

Does anybody else find shaving their legs horrific??? My legs are sooo sore afterwards 😡😟

loopylou1984 · 17/09/2016 20:49

Now that you mention it, me!
I thought it was just because I'm not having my baths as hot and so had some goosebumps when my legs were in the cooler air...

Borisisback · 17/09/2016 21:44

I'm now finding reaching my legs to shave is a mission!

loopylou1984 · 17/09/2016 21:55

Haha Boris!

drinkyourmilk · 17/09/2016 22:00

Hi ladies.
I'm 11+5 following my first round of ivf.
I am terrified of stopping my progesterone pessaries. I'm on 400mg 2x day.

Please reassure me it'll be ok! Sad

Borisisback · 17/09/2016 22:17

Drink - I stopped at 12 weeks. I went cold turkey and had some withdrawal side effects. I would now strongly recommend stopping slowly if you can by reducing the dose. Clinically there seems to be no real risk of stopping after the 7 week Point or even earlier. 11 weeks is perfectly safe.

drinkyourmilk · 17/09/2016 22:22

Thanks Boris, I really appreciate the quick and honest answer.
I also apologise for the abrupt intro of myself onto the thread. I've hit 'mad obsessive panic' I'm afraid Blush

I'm 39, we've been trying for nearly 10 years and have frustratingly been told we have unexplained infertility. I'm in absolute shock we've fallen first try (though at 7.5K I'm relieved!).
I've been on a couple of antenatal threads- and everyone is lovely- but I don't think they understand what infertility is like. (God willing they never will!). I'm not going to relax until my baby is in my arms.

Blue2014 · 17/09/2016 22:40

Drink, I was also terrified of stopping so I looked into the research which actually says that there isn't that much evidence to suggest they help! That sounds like an odd way of comforting you but essentially it means it's your body holding onto this baby and not the pessaries. My clinic advised dropping down to half a dose for the last week to manage any side effects.

Welcome by the way Smile I know how scary and unreal this is. I'm currently 28 weeks and have only just started really posting and I'm only just allowing myself to believe this may actually happen

drinkyourmilk · 17/09/2016 22:51

Thanks Blue Smile
I'll have 17 pessaries left after I officially finish. I think doing an extra half week will help ease my anxiety.

My husband is being amazing and tolerating all the inane verbal worry (there's alot- believe me!), but it's nice to speak to others who feel the same.

Borisisback · 18/09/2016 07:35

Drink - I hear you and many congratulations.
Make yourself at home here - you've found your peope
