We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Combo...

HP07 · 16/08/2016 19:50

Haven't posted much recently but have been reading how you guys are getting on. Congratulations on the positive scans and keeping my fingers crossed for those who have scans coming up. Hope everyone is feeling well?

Im 35w today and saw the consultant who has signed me off. Despite all the bleeding in the first half of my pregnancy, now my placenta has moved up they have officially told me I am going to be a low risk birth and I can have the baby wherever I like. I am going to go for the midwife led unit which is inside the hospital so that I can benefit from the reduced stress and quiet of a relaxing birthing unit but have all the Dr's and medical treatment just down the hall should I need it! :)

Must be some more of us approaching due date from when the thread first started out? It's been a crazy long year but we're nearly there!

Blueroses I just wanted to say if you are reading this that you are still very much in my thoughts. X

stealthbanana · 16/08/2016 20:03

hp that's wonderful news that your placenta has moved. And 35w! Into the home stretch now.

grumpel and boris can't believe people are so rude.

kate my scanxiety is kicking in too and I don't have a scan until next week as am on hols this week. Been cheering myself up by reading about late miscarriages on the Internet...what an asinine thing to do Hmm.

In other news am 20+2 today, my bump is starting to pop and I am in AGONY in my hips and stomach. Mega stretching going on I think. I guess this is what happens when you don't get much bump growth until week 20!

And thanks for all babymoon suggestions. Europe is defo an option, it's just that there are not very many warm places in October! And fear not I will definitely be holidayung after the birth - little stealth is just going to have to get used to tagging along for the ride.

Wow HP great news! Nearly there!

It is my scan in 2 1/2 hours time and I am PETRIFIED. This morning's fears have been about the scan picking up abnormalities or that it has stopped growing or slowed down. How common are babies with abnormalities? I know they won't test for Downs today but they'll be able to see if it is growing normally won't they? If indeed it is growing. Please please please let this work out. I couldn't cope with the pain if this pregnancy went wrong. Please everyone cross your fingers for me. Can't stop feeling sick. Not sure if it is fear or pregnancy.

Sorry for the introspection. So frightened.

Hope everyone else is ok today

xx

HP07 · 17/08/2016 13:06

Hi Kate, Im thinking of you. Yes they will measure the baby today to check it is growing ok. Don't forget that sometimes these things can be a little out so don't panic if it doesn't match exactly with your dates. Good luck. X

HopefulKate1980 · 17/08/2016 15:36

Good news!! We saw a little wriggler with a strong heartbeat measuring exactly right for its dates!! Such a relief. They have also given me anti sickness tablets to help with the nausea so hopefully I should feel ok soon. Such a relief. Thanks for your support xxx

HP07 · 17/08/2016 17:58

Brilliant news Kate. :)

Tacoyaki · 17/08/2016 18:25

Kate that's wonderful - congratulations.

MrsLen · 17/08/2016 21:32

Hi everyone hope you're all well.

It seems like ages since I was last on here but I think I've now caught up with everyone's news. Smile

28+1 today and the weeks are now flying by. Before we know it he will be here!

Hope everyone has a good sleep tonight and no crazy dreams or 10 trips to the loo. Xx

Grumpelstiltskin · 18/08/2016 18:13

Lovely news Kate! So pleased for you. Hope you're now also feeling better for the anti-emetics.

MrsLen congrats on 28 weeks! I must confess that last night I dreamt I had a baby, but said child was actually a large earwig. Went round introducing it to people but no one wanted to hold it. Hmm I hate bugs!

Hope everyone's ok this week. At my end I've now told work I'm diffed and everyone is being lovely. Bet they still wouldn't hold earwig-baby though.

Smurfy1981 · 18/08/2016 18:39

Haha grumpel that made me giggle!!!!

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 19/08/2016 02:36

Ha ha Grumple, what a dream! To be honest, I think I'd pass on holding your 'baby' as well :)

Kate great news about your scan, and hopefully the medication has kicked in already.

HP that's fantastic about your placenta - it must be a great relief. And 35 weeks - wow - I guess it's all starting to feel very real now?

Hope everyone else is doing well? Still feeling really rotten here as well as feeling guilty as I keep having to cancel or postpone meet-ups - I'm sure my excuses are wearing thin. Last night I actually managed to go out for celebratory drinks and was dreading people asking why I wasn't drinking but people kept asking me if I was ill as I looked awful so that worked in my favour - not one question about alcohol!

HopefulKate1980 · 19/08/2016 16:59

grumpel you are funny! your little earwig will be gorgeous!!

genghis I know that feeling!! Remind me how many weeks you are? When are you planning on telling people??

Thanks for all your kind words on my scan. Was so lovely to see. It's the furthest we've ever got so hoping this one sticks!

I've got the dating scan next Thursday when I'll be 12w2. God pray it's still alive and not got any problems. IF all is well at that scan we've decided to tell people then. I've been trying to find dresses today that hide my bloated tummy but I look crap in every single one. My leather skirts (my lovely leather skirts) are well and truly out. It's a good problem to have though!!!

Does anyone know how common it is to discover chromosome problems like Downs and Edwards at this scan?

How is everyone??

Xx

Grumpelstiltskin · 19/08/2016 17:28

Kate I'm sure all will be well, but God knows I understand the scanxiety! I just got blood results back for the trisomy tests (two weeks after dating scan and via post) and luckily am low risk for all. They don't tend to diagnose anything like this at the scan straightaway. If you get less than 1:250 odds they call you much sooner with the results to organise further testing, but even then the odds are still very, very small that the baby will be affected. It's nice that you have your scan so soon though, hope it helps you with reassurance.

Genghis poor you in feeling so pants. I'm with you in sacking off nights out though. All I want to do is lie on the sofa!

Hope your stretching is getting less painful, stealth. Bet you have a lovely little bump by now!

Happy weekend to all. X

HP07 · 19/08/2016 17:45

Nesting, nesting, nesting :)

Thom80 · 19/08/2016 22:43

hp07 - I have been keeping an eye on the thread to see how everyone is doing, but haven't posted in ages due to having my hands full with illness. I haven't had the easiest time. Been in hospital for a while and ended up having an emergency c-section at over 30 weeks. After a time in instensive care our daughter is doing well. She was over 3lbs at birth but getting bigger all the time now!
Hope everyone is well and exciting to hear about the scans.
How are you? Xx

hellotreeshellosky · 19/08/2016 23:06

Congratulations Thom. Glad to hear your daughter is doing well. How are you doing? My DS was premature, I know NICU is tough.

Kate some rare, severe disorders are visible on early scan but the scam markers for Down's are only one part of the picture. If you choose to have the test you would be given a risk factor - if you are low risk no further testing is offered (but if the risk is 1 in 10,000 someone will still be the one), if you are ' high risk ' eg 1 in 50 you would be offered further testing for a definitive answer, which is more invasive. Sorry if you are clear on that already, it's just something i feel women are poorly informed about and it can lead to a lot of stress. In short, it's rare. I'm sure all will be well, the odds are excellent after your recent scan.

20 week scan next week for me Smile Am feeling movements which is lovely.

HP07 · 19/08/2016 23:06

Oh wow. Congratulations on the birth of your little girl Thom. How old is she now? My sister had her daughter at 32 weeks and she is 4 now and amazing. 3lb is a good weight. How are you doing? Are you feeling better?

loopylou1984 · 20/08/2016 06:21

Frequent peeing is no joke is it? I was up 4 times between 9pm and 6am for a wee!!! Xx

HP07 · 20/08/2016 08:42

It's not Sammy and I'm afraid it only gets worse. I was awake constantly between 2.30-6.30am last night because I couldn't get comfortable and I think i probably went about 8 times!

MrsLen · 20/08/2016 08:45

HP was up the same times as have bad head cold combined with toilet and can't sleep now even though i really want to!!

Surely it can't be worse when these babies come. Xx

HP07 · 20/08/2016 09:14

That's how I'm consoling myself. I only had 5 hrs sleep in total so I'd say that's a good practice for when the baby is here. Having worked nights for the past 5 years I'm pretty used to it though, but long term sleep deprivation has got to be rough. Anyway I have no commitments today so I may as well just try and catch up!

HopefulKate1980 · 20/08/2016 16:00

Thanks so much for the advice hello and grumpel. I am still trying to get my head around all of the risk. But I guess time will tell.

I have never heard of anyone finding out their child has Downs at a scan - have you? A colleague of mine v sadly found out her baby had Edwards at the 12 week scan and she had to terminate but I haven't heard of others. I suppose people keep it to themselves as it so intensely private.

Good luck at your 20 week scan hello!. Feeling movements must be so utterly magical! Are you going to find out the sex?

Congrats Thom!!! Pleased your little bundle has arrived safely.

xx

MPP81 · 20/08/2016 17:09

Hello all

Very cautiously poking my head in to join you, if I may. I've been stalking watching this thread for a while to see how Stealth, Boris and Sammy are doing. Can I just say, Blueroses, if you are still around, I have read your blog. You write beautifully and what you have been through is heartbreaking. Thinking of you Flowers

A bit about me - My DH and I have been ttc for over two years. At around the 1 year mark, we found out our issue was male factor (count of under 2 million) and that IVF with ICSI was our best chance. We knew we wouldnt be eligible for NHS help as I have a DD (14) from a previous relationship. We looked into private treatment in this country but it was so expensive we worked out that we could only afford one go and perhaps a couple of FETs if we were lucky to freeze anything. I learned about Reprofit in the Czech Republic from others on the conecption boards, and we looked into it. It was sooo much cheaper and had good results, but we decided to wait until after our wedding (in May) to move forward. After our honeymoon, we started the process, and last week I got my BFP at 7dp5dt. I thought I should wait til at least OTD (today) before popping in here and this morning I got strong lines on two tests and '2-3' on a CB digi. I am 14dp5dt (or 4+5, according to online IVF dating calculators) so we have a long, long way to go but are cautiously optimistic!

hellotreeshellosky · 20/08/2016 22:44

Congrats and welcome MPP81.

Kate i have never heard of anyone being diagnosed with Down's at the 12 week scan. I should imagine that further testing would always be required. I have known many 'high risk' (from scan and blood test) women have the diagnostic test and find out all is well.

We are definitely going to find out Smile we are both control freaks who like to know stuff!
