We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

I was with an nhs ivf clinic x

HopefulKate1980 · 10/08/2016 08:59

Morning everyone

Is anyone else having very vivid dreams? It seems my sleeping mind is trawling through every mistake or bad thing that's ever happened to me and making me re-live it! I can't seem to shut the thoughts out. It must be the anxiety of losing this baby. Xxx

Zenzie · 10/08/2016 10:30

Kate, vivid dreams was the earliest symptom of this and my previous pregnancy. A common thread for me is losing or breaking my engagement ring - obviously worries about me and my husband. Luckily we're strong as anything.

HP07 · 10/08/2016 11:14

Congratulations Sammy :) x

Borisisback · 10/08/2016 11:18

Oh yes to the vivid dreams. Crazy dreams. Sadly I cant remember any of them now but I've never dreamed so much in my life.

HopefulKate1980 · 10/08/2016 12:09

Ah glad I'm not going crazy!

How is everyone today?

Smurfy1981 · 10/08/2016 19:09

What are peoples thoughts on herbal tea?

loopylou1984 · 10/08/2016 19:15

Kate - I've had vivid dreams too, so real I've had to ask DH whether they really happened on occasion!

I feel terrible today. All day nausea that just won't shift. I've barely eaten and can't think of anything I could stomach. Am I really going to feel like this for the foreseeable? It's exhausting!

Smurfy - what kind of herbal tea?

Smurfy1981 · 10/08/2016 19:50

Well ive heard mixed reports about using herbal teas during pregnancy- i completelt went off normal tea (i have been on decaf for nearly a year so dont take caffiene) but i had a peppermint tea tnite and quite enjoyed it

HopefulKate1980 · 10/08/2016 20:10

sammy that will be the twins for you?!! Sorry to hear you are feeling rough. I've heard symptoms can be more pronounced with twins. It'll be worth it though. Have you tried gingernut biscuits? I find hot chocolate helps too strangely. Xx

Borisisback · 10/08/2016 21:21

The nhs website has comments on herbal teas in pregnancy. I think it's ok in moderation? I drank quite a few herbal tea in my first few weeks but then went off them.

Grumpelstiltskin · 10/08/2016 21:49

I'm usually a green tea fan but have gone right off it- also now hate peppermint. Have the odd lemon and ginger when I want something hot. What's bad about herbal teas? Thought it was all about not overdoing the caffeine (and avoiding raspberry leaf until the key time!).

stealthbanana · 11/08/2016 00:31

Presumably the issue with herbal teas are that there are some that when ingested in vast concentrations can trigger uterine contractions. I think the amount of herbal tea you'd have to drink to get even close to that is staggering. Plus I think most of the herbs you generally find in standard teas (lemon, ginger, peppermint, chamomile etc) are safe anyway.

I should also say that I think the whole thing is absolute bollocks anyway and made up by well meaning naturopaths who quite frankly invest far too much medical significance into herbs and spices. One of the spices that is meant to be "unsafe" throughout all of pregnancy is cinnamon. I have asked both my consultants about this and they laughed. Plus cinnamon is an extra blood sugar regulator - great for avoiding GD. I ate it on top of my porridge every single day in first trimester.

I have been having bizarre vivid dreams too. They've tailed off now as I think I'm now too exhausted even to dream but I had some amazing dreams.

grump I told work and they were excited for me. They haven't quite grasped what it means in terms of planning yet Grin but we can start that over the next few weeks. Feels a weight off my mind to have told him. I'll still be keeping it quiet from my organisation & my peers (only HR Head and my boss know) for awhile yet but good to have it out there.

Yes to the vivid dreams here as well.

I'm awake again. I fear I will never sleep properly again! Lol! My body is obviously preparing me for night feeds and being up with the baby. Less than 6 weeks til I'm due now. Anyone else up that wants entertaining? ;)

Glad everyone seems to be getting on well. :) x

Zenzie · 11/08/2016 06:35

Oh, HP07, the sleeplessness towards the end of pregnancy is so frustrating! Everyone spends all their time telling you how little you'll sleep once Baby arrives, all you want to do is make the most of it. Argh!

Hmm, I haven't thought once about how much herbal tea I drink. It isn't much, admittedly, but still.

I had my second scan! Very brief and a bit perfunctory (for the doctor, not me) and the heart is beating away madly. On the brief look, I think I could also make out vague shapes of head and limbs. It's like there's an actual baby in there! Feeling really happy and more confident about pregnancy now - 10 weeks tomorrow and I can almost start to believe I'll actually end up with this child.

Still told to keep on the bloody progesterone though "until the 12-14 weeks scan". You better believe I'll be trying for a 12 week scan!

HP07 · 11/08/2016 06:56

I'm almost to the point of thinking that I'll get more sleep when the baby arrives! Haha! And at least I will be up for a reason.

HopefulKate1980 · 11/08/2016 09:45

Ahh Zenzie we are almost exactly the same stage. I'm 10w2 today and have an 11 week scan next week and then all being well, I have my booking appt the next day. How are you feeling? Great news on your scan! V sweet to see it moving around. I'm still not letting myself believe it's real although the sickness is taking its toll now. Yuck.

HP sleep deprivation is the worst! You poor thing. Do you have any option of catching up during the day? Stupid question probably!

Xx

HP07 · 11/08/2016 11:47

Luckily as I'm already on maternity leave I am able to nap in the day although today is particularly busy. Just met the health visitor and have a friend coming over for the afternoon and then I'm out for dinner with my colleagues tonight.

So exciting with all the scans, good luck to everyone that is waiting. :)

winniemcgoogan · 11/08/2016 17:07

im pregnant with my rainbow baby i lost one in 2014 and after that loss i dicovered im infertile i hope i dont lose this baby

HopefulKate1980 · 12/08/2016 09:02

I'm so sorry for your loss winnie. I know that feeling. Welcome to the thread. Xx

Smurfy1981 · 12/08/2016 09:15

Omg i am soo tired today!! I tried my hardest to stay up to watch teamGB in the rugby 7s final to cheer on my pals husband- but zonked out just before it started- im gutted

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2016 09:36

Smurfy I hear you! I was in bed at 8pm last night!
I'm really struggling with this nausea. I'm late for work today because I just can't face the drive in.

It is reducing me to tears and then I feel guilty because I have waited for this for so long and feel like all I'm doing is complaining. Sad

HopefulKate1980 · 12/08/2016 10:40

I feel the same sammy. I have been getting miserable with the nausea / full blown vomiting but then feel stupid for complaining. And then, when my symptoms lessen I go mental and drop down a pit of fear. All entirely rational. Losing four pregnancies though I need to remind myself that it's entirely normal to be mental!

Hope work is ok for you. Your boss sounds tough! Xx

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2016 10:44

I've text her to say I'm not coming in. She hasn't replied. I tried calling and got no answer. I'm probably going to be in trouble.

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2016 10:45

I have the same panic and haven't even had the losses to warrant it. Xx
