We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Fab news on the heartbeat ghenghis

sammy sorry to hear you're not feeling well.i found the only thing that made it even semi bearable was taking anti emetic drugs. Don't be afraid to ask for them if you need them - they are safe.

debie yep I still check for blood every time I go to the loo. Old habits!

Meanwhile my morning sickness has returned with a vengeance! Can't believe it. Am 18w and thought I was over the worst of it but no - was up all night last night being sick and the constant nauseous feeling has returned. I think I must be due a growth spurt as my hunger has returned too - am expecting bump to pop any day now!

Hi everyone!

Sorry for being slow to post. Had a manic last week at work and we are now in Croatia for two weeks. I had my scan yesterday at 8w6. Strong heartbeat and consultant happy although I was unnerved cos they couldn't measure him or her properly as she was all curled up. It freaked me out cos it was around this time that things started to go wrong with my most advanced pregnancy, no 2. He has put me on steroids as a precaution. Is anyone else on those??

Congrats on your scan genghis

Hope you feel better soon Stealth. That's tough! You'd think you would be past the frickin morning sickness by now! Good sign though. I'm suffering too but at 9 weeks that's usual I guess.

Debbie I check and scrutinise my knickers every single time! It's the curse of 4 miscarriages for me but I am hoping praying this is a healthy one. How far along are you??

Xx

loopylou1984 · 02/08/2016 21:47

Stealth - I won't, don't worry! At the moment it's just a low level nausea (with the exception of about 2 hours Sunday morning which I spent feeling horrifically sick). This evening it seems to have gone.... Which you'd think I'd be pleased about, but now I'm panicking about ET symptoms have gone!
Stealth sorry you're feeling poorly again. Do you still have meds left?

Kate - hooray for a good scan. Have a wonderful holiday! Xx

Smurfy1981 · 02/08/2016 22:05

Kate pleased u had a good scan, hope u are able to relax and enjoy ur hols x
Im feeling really crampy- and a bit paniky!! I am 13+3 today x

HopefulKate1980 · 03/08/2016 07:57

Thanks girls. The suggestion that your skin is more sensitive to the sun in pregnancy is definitely playing out for me. Jesus Christ! I spent 4 hours in the cloudy sun yday with factor 20 on and my chest has already turned brown. Gonna have to cover up today. I've got a few mossie bites too that worry me but I'm just going to avoid being out at night. Poor DH! No sex and now this...

Smurfy do you think it's your uterus stretching or is it more intense? Hope they ease off soon.

Stealth hope you're feeling better and sammy hope you are feeling worse (if that makes sense!!)

I'm in the same boat. Awful sickness yesterday and today nothing and I've gone to the loo very easily. Worries me but guess I need to be grateful for an off day.

Sorry if TMi but has anyone else started to produce stuff from their nipples? I'm 9w1 and last night I noticed dried creamy stuff around my nipples. My boyfriend licked his lips, I thought it was gross!!!

Smurfy1981 · 03/08/2016 14:56

Been to PAU thismorning and all is absolutely fine- got a cheeky extra look at our wee teddy bear. Midwife thinks that its is my bowels causing the pain and told me to try and eat a fibre rich cereal once a day and plenty fruit and veg (which i am struggling with at the mo lol!)

Wizziwoo · 03/08/2016 20:27

Congrats on scan hopeful, great news..and enjoy the holiday!

Debbie guilty of the knicker checking too. Feels like sometime I've had a discharge and there's nothing there...huge mindfuck if you ask me!!

smurfy have you tried Tesco Irish section for Tayto? I'm sure I've seen them..spent half my childhood summers in Ireland and lived on those bad boys!!

Stealth sorry to hear the MS has returned, fingers crossed its just a growth spurt

Midwife appointment went well, nice to be treated as a 'normal' and not an infertility case anymore. Looks like I will have to get dating scan at around 14 weeks which isn't so bad as it's far enough off. Other than that still feeling sick as a dawg and constantly tired. Work is so tough, I keep nodding off in meetings and had to escape to the loo for 40 winks today it got so bad!!! Any tips on beating tiredness that doesn't involve eating sweet stuff or anything that will make me barf?!

loopylou1984 · 03/08/2016 20:46

Hopeful - hehe, thanks, I was feeling nauseous again all morning. It's seems to go off after I force myself to eat something carby at lunch. I'm a bit obsessed with mash potato.

Smurfy - glad everything is ok with you. Lovely that you got to see baby again.

Wizzi - pleased your appointment was good too.

I'm so tired. All the time. Work is horrific!

Zenzie · 03/08/2016 21:58

I hear everyone about the tiredness thing. Last night we had a friend over for dinner and by 9.30 pm I wanted to kick him out. At 10 I was making desperate throat-cutting gestures at my husband.

Borisisback · 04/08/2016 09:04

Zenzie I went to bed one night at 9.30 despite a visitor still being in the house.

Does anyone have any experience if managing leg cramps? I woke up screaming and crying last night (poor DH). Any ideas how to prevent / mitigate the risk of cramps?

Zenzie · 04/08/2016 09:19

Oh geez Boris - I've had a few bad ones in my foot already. I used to get them loads before my first pregnancy, then they totally went away! These are my first for years. I think topical magnesium is supposed to be good - you might be able to find a spray formulation somewhere.

HP07 · 04/08/2016 09:33

I don't have any advice on how to prevent cramps Boris but I can fully sympathise. Im also getting bump ache at night at the moment, despite using my maternity pillow. Third trimester sleep is not great! Lol!

Blueroses99 · 04/08/2016 09:40

Boris eat bananas for leg cramps. It's the magnesium and potassium in them that helps.

Borisisback · 04/08/2016 09:53

Thanks all - I'll go buy bananas! Hope you are all ok? Xxx

HP07 · 04/08/2016 09:57

Hi Blueroses, how are you doing? X

stealthbanana · 04/08/2016 10:14

Poor boris!

blueroses just wanted to say that I have been reading your blog and thinking of you often. I've wanted to comment as I can feel how much pain you're in but don't really have the words. But i did want to say that you mustn't blame yourself - I know it's natural to feel that way but really you did everything you could. I hope that the post mortem brings you some answers, and please take care of yourself Flowers

OP posts:
Blueroses99 · 04/08/2016 16:09

Thanks for thinking of me still. I'm having a really hard time, I think the initial shock and numbness has worn off and I'm feeling the grief and sadness very strongly. The funeral will be next week and the debrief following the post mortem will be 21st September. I still feel like I should have been able to do something, anything, differently but will wait to see what the results are. I have no idea how we start to rebuild our lives. In the meantime, I am channelling all my energy into learning to knit and have been making a little blanket for Jovan. It's not much but I feel like I'm doing something constructive for him.

Hope everyone is doing well xx

Grumpelstiltskin · 04/08/2016 22:09

Blueroses I'm glad you're still on the thread - please know we are all here to listen anytime you want to unload. As stealth said, it's hard to find the right words, but I guess I would say just allow yourself to feel all you need to, however long you need to.
A knitted blanket for Jovan sounds lovely. I hope you and DH are looking after yourselves as well. Flowers

Boris hope the bananas have sorted out your cramps- sounds nasty.

Glad the scan went well Kate, great news pre-holiday. So pleased for you.

Great news on the heartbeat too genghis- am with you on feeling extremely unnerved at how all of this is now apparently classed as a normal pregnancy!

Also good to hear baby smurfy is doing well and that in general the knicker-checking and carb-inhaling we're all doing is clearly totally normal behaviour.

Scanxiety (which now handily autocorrects in my phone) is at full pelt here- have my dating scan tomorrow at 12wk exactly. This will be a bad night's sleep!

Crisps and mashed potato to you all. X

Borisisback · 04/08/2016 22:15

Blue roses much love to you. Xxxxxxx

loopylou1984 · 05/08/2016 07:54

Girls I'm panicking. I've woken up every day since Saturday feeling slightly queasy. It's lasted until around lunch time. Today I am feeling fine Confused - is this bad? Where has my queasiness gone???

Borisisback · 05/08/2016 08:02

Sammy - the side effects came and went in waves for me. Try not to worry too much. If you feel really stressed contact your doctors surgery for advice - but I think it's normal that this can happen. Xxxx

Smurfy1981 · 05/08/2016 08:05

Sammy - i had no sickness from last saturday- then i suddenly heaved up quite spectacularly yesterday- it really does come and go xxx try not to stress xx

HP07 · 05/08/2016 08:22

Same here Sammy. I had worse nausea some days than others and it completely disappeared at about 11 weeks never to return.

HopefulKate1980 · 05/08/2016 10:10

Same here sammy! I threw up nine times yesterday and today, it's all quiet except for v sore boobs.

blueroses sending you lots of love. Will be thinking of you during the funeral. Xxxx

Grumpelstiltskin · 05/08/2016 17:27

Same here Sammy- today no mega-hunger, sore boobs or bloat at all, which are otherwise pretty much daily occurrences at this end.
I'm sure all will come flooding back for you in the next few days- in the meantime hope you get to enjoy some food!

Urgh Kate nine times?! You poor thing!

Had scan today- thankfully all is well at 12 weeks and little grump was bopping around in there - so surreal!Had such a surplus of adrenaline afterwards though that I had to sit in a bench outside for five minutes and do some deep breathing.

Hope you all have lovely weekends.
