We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Thank you Kate, that's lovely. I'm still reading, and mentally giving thumbs up to all the good news, scan updates etc. I'm still blogging and trying to make sense of each day. Keep well everyone xx

loopylou1984 · 30/07/2016 18:18

Wizzi - glad he spotting has stopped, but sorry for the thrush. Can you take the normal treatments while pregnant?

Tilly - glad you're on the mend.

Hopeful - good luck for Monday! Where are you off to on holiday?

Blueroses - I think you're doing amazingly, take care.

We're planning on telling our parents our news tomorrow. They know about our fertility treatment, although don't know we have had another IVF. I feel like I want them to know but j dong want to make it a huge deal. I'm not quite sure how to start the conversation as I also want to tell them to be cautious and not too over excited. Xx

Wizziwoo · 30/07/2016 19:59

Think the parents will get excited regardless sammy . I had to tell my parents as I was in hospital and my Mum was panicking it was something worse ( like the big C) so they have known since 6 weeks. Maybe just say we had a little help to get pregnant so still cautious as it's taken so long so appreciate keeping it between us for now as I'm still being closely monitored??

Yes can take the normal pessaries just nothing oral ... Honestly I'm so pumped with drugs I don't think it will make a difference!! How long is everyone on the cyclogest for? My doc said 8 weeks only but then the consultant said best to keep it up for 12?.. I have serious hairy face issues though so the sooner I can stop the better!

Hopeful good luck with the scan, holiday sounds like bliss!!!!

blueroses hope you are doing as well as possible. Will have a read of your blog now, apols, think I missed a page. Take care of yourself xxxxxx

loopylou1984 · 30/07/2016 20:15

They've known about the previous IVFs, just after the event. I want to tell them before sickness hits too badly as I don't want them to worry I'm ill like your parents did! I also feel like they deserve to know as they've been in this with us, emotionally and financially, all along. I know they won't tell anyone. Don't know why I'm nervous really. I guess it's our special secret at the moment and a little part of me doesn't want that to end.

More pessaries? Just what you need! Lol. My clinic said 12 weeks for my progesterone. I'm on Lutigest rather than cyclogest but assume it's the same.

Wizziwoo · 30/07/2016 20:18

Blueroses I'm in tears here...what an amazing blog, your little boy is perfect and I can't even come close to imagining what you are both going through. I think you are inspirational and you write beautifully. Look after yourself and DH xxx

HP07 · 30/07/2016 23:01

Blueroses I'm still thinking of you and yours. Xx

HopefulKate1980 · 31/07/2016 08:06

Blueroses you are just amazingly strong. My heart breaks for you and I hope there is happiness around the corner for you. Life just doesn't make any sense at times. Sending you so much love.

Good luck for today sammy.

Off to Croatia on Tuesday. Panicking about scan on Monday. Trying to relax and believe the world will finally give us a break.

Lots of love to everyone.

Xxxx

loopylou1984 · 31/07/2016 09:58

I think I jinxed myself. I've so far spent this morning trying not to throw up my breakfast and folic acid. Bleugh.

Hopeful - I have everything crossed for you for tomorrow. Croatia will be amazing, enjoy!

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 31/07/2016 12:58

MrsChris Congratulations!! What wonderful news - double the love!

HP Glad to read that you're on the mend, though the choking sounds awful. I hope it stops sharpish.

Hopeful Good luck with your scan tomorrow, and your holiday sounds lovely!

Sammy Enjoy telling your parents, I'm sure it'll be very emotional for you all x I hope you managed to eat your breakfast in the end :)

Wizzi Great news that your spotting has stopped, and hopefully the thrush clears up quickly. Re. the progesterone - I was put on it for 12 weeks.

Tilly Glad you're on the mend as well, and good luck with your upcoming appointments.

Zenzie I live on a pacific island (sorry about the vagueness but there's only a smallish expat community here - I'm not trying to sound odd!)

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

loopylou1984 · 01/08/2016 12:48

It was very emotional, lots of tears.

I think I'm in to the morning sickness phase now, purchased some acupressure bands which must be taking the edge off as I can at least function unlike yesterday, but finding work so tough. How do you all get through it?

I'm so grateful to be having these symptoms, but it doesn't make continuing like a normal human being any easier.

Zenzie · 01/08/2016 15:58

Oh no Sammy, poor thing. I still seem to be avoiding the sickness, thank goodness.

Genghis - fair enough! Sounds a bit idyllic though.

Today I told my boss that I'm pregnant as we were discussing a development which assumes that I'm in the office for all of 2017. After her long history with infertility (she has one daughter through IVF but went through around 5 years of IVF for a second before stopping for good relatively recently), I felt pretty awkward (who wants to be baby bombed by an employee) but she was thrilled. It was lovely of her. I feel better she knows, especially as she was aware of everything, when my transfer was etc.

loopylou1984 · 01/08/2016 17:35

Zenzir - wow, tough conversation. Glad she was happy for you :).
Where are you now? I'm 6+3 today.

I just managed a ham sandwich which is an achievement! X

Borisisback · 01/08/2016 18:55

Zenzie - glad you have a boss who gets all this.

Sammy - sorry for the sickness. Your conversation with your parents must have been amazing but emotional - how wonderful for them that you can give them this news.

Smurfy1981 · 01/08/2016 19:41

Omg i feel soo bloated 😟

Wizziwoo · 01/08/2016 19:50

sammy dry crackers and flat ginger ale help keep the sickness at bay. Difficult if you are in an open plan office munching on dry crackers - I have found a few hiding spots where I can quickly devour one! Main thing I find is not to get too hungry...so little and often. Weird one because I never thought you could feel hungry and sick at the same time!!

Nice to have an understanding boss zenzie, glad the chat went well.

Very envious of your Pacific island living Genghis!!

First midwife appointment tomorrow, which will be strange as will have to go over the whole OHSS saga. Just hoping she doesn't offer me another scan straight away as I feel like I've been scanned to date already at just 8 weeks!!

loopylou1984 · 01/08/2016 20:18

Wizzi - I know what you mean. Nauseous and hungry are a very strange combination. And not good strange.

Thank you, will try the ginger ale. My go to at the moment is salted pretzels.

How many scans have you had already?!

Boris - everyone cried including BIL!

Smurfy Sad

Smurfy1981 · 01/08/2016 20:22

Sammylou i ate oatcakes dry, and also found diluting orange juice to drink helped me- not sure if it. Was the sugar in it gave me a wee hit???!

DebieS · 01/08/2016 22:06

Please tell me I'm not weird......

Does anyone else make random trips to the bathroom just to check they ain't bleeding? I'm 9weeks+2 and find I do this everyday. It's like a habit I have now. TMI I have been getting discharge from the start and keep thinking I'm bleeding so run to the toilet like 10times a day.

It's taken us 10years TC so maybe I'm just being overly concerned.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 01/08/2016 23:22

Ha - yes Debie I do! I sometimes wonder if I'll ever get to a stage in this pregnancy (all going well) that I won't be worrying and panicking.

Sammy I'm glad your announcement went well - sounds like it was really moving. I'm with you on the feeling awful, and the strange hungry/nauseous feeling. To add to that we have a guest staying with us and I'm finding it hard to pretend all is well when all I want to do is curl up on my bed.

Zenzie That must have been a hard difficult conversation to have so I'm glad it went well for you.

Good luck with your midwife appointment tomorrow Wizzi!

I had another scan this morning - 6wks - and saw a heartbeat! My doctor was like 'From now on we will treat this like a normal pregnancy' and I felt like saying 'No, please don't'. It all feels rather scary!

Zenzie · 01/08/2016 23:40

Debie, I'm not really checking for blood any more but I definitely have a much increased amount of discharge. Gross. I remember that from my last pregnancy too.

Any cravings anywhere? Probably not if you're nauseous. I could eat oranges all day.

Sammy, today I'm 8+4. Eep! Another scan next week and then I transfer to another team.

Borisisback · 02/08/2016 06:46

genghis so pleased for you how exciting.

debie I'm now 24 weeks and still go and check for blood, but not so often now - force of habbit after cycle watching for so long.

loopylou1984 · 02/08/2016 06:54

Ghengis - horsy for the heart beat! I'm over 6 weeks but my scan is not until Tuesday 9th! I'll be 7+4 then!
I hear you on the pretending to be fine pain. Work is awful, and last night my neighbours asked me to babysit their toddler so her mum could go to the hospital to meet their 3hr old baby... How could I say no?

Smurfy - thanks for the tips, I might try the OJ thing. It always worked for me on hangover nausea!!

DebieS - you are not along there. I too am getting a lot of discharge (not sure if it's the pessaries or me) and am off to the loo like a shot when I feel it. I did have bleeding at 4 ish weeks though so I'm probably more paranoid than most.

Zenzie - I'm very jealous of your orange craving. Wish I had something I really wanted. I'm going to lose weight at this rate!

loopylou1984 · 02/08/2016 07:12

*hooray not horsy!

Smurfy1981 · 02/08/2016 08:24

Zenzie- thats funny- i have just suddenly taken a wee liking to oranges the past few days lol!!

DebieS · 02/08/2016 09:04

Cravings.....

I'm craving Tayto crisps (from Northern Ireland) and I now live in Essex and can't get them anywhere. My family have been given a deadline to post me boxes over lol.
Also strawberries and yoghurt which I can't seem to get enough off
