Sorry - forgot to say I have a 10yr DD..

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2017 17:56

What a crap gp. 10days????

Anyway welcome and congrats

Teaspoon74 · 16/03/2017 18:16

Hiya Canrt! I was told to contact the local widow ferry team directly to register and arrange first scan. Didn't see GP did much later.

Cake I think it is about risk factors. I had some extra scans (42 and high BMI) but when BP showed in green and weight dropped they have reduced scans!

Blondes how're you doing? The 40/40 stillbirth thing has been mentioned to me a few times. Apparently double the risk for over 40s if you go to term - up from 1% to 2%.

Dee sounds like crappy timing. If the pregnancy weren't a factor, would you be concerned/ upset? I know so many couples who've found the strain of pregnancy intolerable with an already strained relationship I suppose one way of looking at it is whether now is better than in 3 or 6 MK this time? Or do you think you'll fix it?

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2017 12:14

All good here tho still waddling and sore feet

Yes higher risk when 40/40

Teaspoon74 · 17/03/2017 15:59

Ladies, a question: I recently got food poisoning from a high street chain who sell ready lunches. They admit they did wrong (crustacean allergy - crustacean contamination in soup - hospital and hives and vom and baby panic). The lunch cost £9.

They started by offering to gift me a spa day to say sorry, and now they've offered to buy me "something for the baby" as a good will gesture.

If you were me, what sort of thing / price range would you be asking for??

booox · 17/03/2017 17:22

Hello, may I join the thread?

I'm 40 and almost 6 weeks pregnant, #2. Hypothyroid so battling with gp over raising levels! Now agreed though.

Feel like I've been hit by a bus after two days at work!

booox · 17/03/2017 17:23

Congratulations to other newly pregnant ladies!

Teaspoon74 · 17/03/2017 17:42

Congrats Violet!

damppatchnot · 17/03/2017 20:00

Feeling slightly worried
50 in a few months
Had my last child at 40 conceive very easily
Was in a new relationship last autumn and on pill but discovered i wasn't taking properly when i stopped taking it in new year (relationship ended xmas)
periods have been every 28 days since age 13 but none since dec

no sickness (i had hyperemisis with 3 children) or sore boobs but weight gain on tummy and very very tired

doing test tomorrow 😫

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2017 20:37

Violet congrats

Damp patch - possibly menopause but if no periods since then , then do a test asap

Teaspoon - hmmmm depends what the cost of spa day was and what you are willing to accept

Go high and they can barter

Teaspoon74 · 17/03/2017 21:37

Damppatch - better to know than not. Fwiw my best mate, when I found out I was pregnant and started getting angsty over age (42), told me she'd had a 52yo mum to be in the same ante natal class as her!

ChristmasSeacow · 19/03/2017 20:58

Damp what was the result of your test?

Blondes aren't you in your last couple of weeks now? Do you have a date for induction /CS?

Hope everyone is doing well. I am 26 weeks tomorrow, pottering along

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/03/2017 22:55

@seacow, i have 10 days tomorrow till i pop

ChristmasSeacow · 20/03/2017 08:08

Gosh, that's nothing! Quick, go to the cinema while you still can! Wink

Bloopbleep · 20/03/2017 16:40

Does anyone else experience pregnancy rage? It comes from nowhere and I end up in such a bad mood. It never happened before pregnancy but it's a weekly occurence recently.

Gizmojo · 20/03/2017 17:05

Yes, bloop, I'm the same - completely irrational fury from nowhere. Same here, never had it before being pregnant. Did you get your results back yet?

Gizmojo · 20/03/2017 17:05

Also, hi to the new ladies!

CANRT · 20/03/2017 19:16

Hi back Smile
How is everyone getting along? I am 5 weeks along and still haven't seen a GP. Just picked up a form from the surgery which says I should self-refer at a choice of 3 places but not sure where to go.. I'm on some anti-epileptic drugs so I need to be consultant-led from quite early on so I need to choose somewhere but I can't ask anyone for advice. I'm in SouthEast London if anyone's from around this way?

Bloopbleep · 20/03/2017 21:39

Glad I'm not the only one gizmojo - it's eased off slightly this evening. Hopefully that's it as I'm not usually a ragey person.

My bloods were fine but I've been told to keep an eye on things as it can change quickly. Because my Hands and feet haven't been itchy they're not so worried so that's good.

How are you?

ChristmasSeacow · 20/03/2017 22:11

I do have the occasional rage - not weekly but still. Poor DH usually bears the brunt of it!

CANRT I am London (NE) but a number of my friends, and just last month my SIL, had babies at kings and had pretty good experiences. SIL's delivery was a bit hairy, baby needed resuscitating, but the team were brilliant. Another good friend had a straightforward c section but baby ended up back at kings A&E a few months later with rectal bleeding. Turned out to be a very rare complication that was potentially life threatening but it was diagnosed and treated very quickly. It was touch and go but he was fine, to the paediatricians' great credit.

Neither much enjoyed being on the postnatal ward because of noise but that is true everywhere I'm afraid!

Teaspoon74 · 20/03/2017 22:24

Hiya CANRT - am also SE London . I chose to get my care at St Thomas' in Westminster. Went to QE in Woolwich for my first scan but I just got the sense they were a bit too under staffed, plus a friend's experience there was not great... am consultant led (due to age - 42) and the consultant and team at Tommys have been great.

Bloop re rage - only On public transport!!

Blondes counting the days? Not long now!!

Thanks for thoughts on the goodwill gesture - have shared our outstanding JLP gift list so now I wait ;)

ChristmasSeacow · 20/03/2017 22:38

Teaspoon the same friend who had the second baby at Kings (the one with the life threatening complication) had her first at Tommys. She raved about it but that birth was private so don't know about NHS. I am sure they'd be good though. She was then nhs at kings because by then she had a giant mortgage so no second private birth for her!

Let us know what you get from your gift list from the naughty high st chain (am very curious to know who it was!)

Teaspoon74 · 20/03/2017 23:17

Thanks Christmas. Had to go to the private bit of Tommy's (12th floor) to do the paperwork for the Verify (like Harmony) private test. Looked v nice!! I'll be in the pleb bit downstairs on the 7th floor ;)

And it's one of this e chains people joke about not being allowed post Brexit - that help? ;)

Canrt · 21/03/2017 09:02

Hi all, thanks for the info..

Teaspoon - I am further SE than you I think - my 3 options are 1) Princess Royal Uni Hosp in Orpington 2) QEH Woolwich and 3) Darent Valley Hosp in Dartford. So no St. Thomas for me - I'm too far out. Had 1st DD at QEH - it wasn't brill but I think as I'll be having a planned CS (complications from DD birth 10 years ago and I'll be 45..) QEH may be ok - if I can afford a private recovery room.

God this is all so scary. Anyone else not feeling like it's 'real' until the tests are all over? Although obviously I've got a long way to go..

Xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2017 09:08

Darenrenth valley sometimes comes up on local fb site. Meant to be good

I'm kent to at Pembury. All rooms are single tho not private so I don't have to pay

What gift are you getting teaspoon

I have confined induction day but not writing it on here as many of my local friends know I'm blondes and don't want to give them a date as will hassle me lol
