She always seems to be in the wrong position to scan Confused

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2017 20:28

I get extra scans coz of age dvt and ivf but looked through scan album and I have had lots of scans and pics

Does anyone else have /had lots of scans due to age /high risk ?

I have an album of scan pics. From the . (Dot) of embryo on et day to all the scans

5/4 private little sac
7/1 private heart
10 NHS
12 NHS
16 private
20/4 NHS
22/4 NHS
24/4 NHS
27 NHS

Had to have 3 attempts to get all measurements so went back 3 times

Then have booked in

28/4 NHS
30/2 private 4d
31/4 NHS
34/4 NHS
37/4 NHS

That's a lot of scans 😱

Floozie66 · 03/01/2017 21:13

46yrs and 32 weeks now . Feeling exhausted!! Not sure if thats age or just pregnancy related. Anyone having any additional care - my trust offers 2 growth scans at 30 and 34 weeks ...

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2017 21:22

Floozie. I'm 43 and almost 28w and shattered

I get scanned every 3w

UKrider · 03/01/2017 21:50

May I join? I just squeak in I hope. Baby is due around my 40th birthday. First pregnancy for me and for DH too. We met later in life and got married in June. Happily surprised to find I got pregnant sooner than we thought due to our ages

I've had a scan and bloods today and put at 13+2

We paid for NIFTY at 10 weeks and results have come back low risk for everything so pleased.

I've read the last few months of this thread. It's lovely to hear all the stories (and reassurance!). Advanced maternity age is written all over my notes :(

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2017 21:59

Welcome uk :)

I have geriatric over mine 🙄

Tho does mean I get extra care and scans so TBH I'm
Happy with it

UKrider · 03/01/2017 22:43

Thank you!

My midwife said if I get dated one week later I'll have to go under OB for the extra care. I can see why that might be a bonus.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2017 22:52

Consultant care is a bonus for us oldies

Means extra scans which for me as took 10yrs and 5 private ivf to get bubs , I'm not prepared to take any risk and will follow them to the letter - so reassuring to have extra scans etc

If they say have a cs I will. Would prefer not to but if they advise then a reason why iyswim

Think the only diff is you cant have a water birth or birth centre

TBH neither appeal to me anyway 😂

Helbelle75 · 03/01/2017 23:01

The only thing that's been said about my age is to take aspirin. Other than that, no extra care or scans at all. I assume that's good and they're not worried about me or baby.

Womble75 · 04/01/2017 09:35

Hi everyone hope you all had a good Christmas! Welcome to all the newbies 🤗
Been a bit quiet - ended up in hospital with gallbladder issues just before Christmas and been a bit out of it. Upshot is got to have it out once baby arrives and on restricted diet ☹️
Had growth scan yesterday (28+2) due to my hypothyroidism. The little pickle is extended breech and his head is on the 95th percentile and he Is weighing 3lbs already 😳 seeing consultant next week and praying he turns soon!! If not I'm assuming a cs might be on the cards which I'm not too chuffed about as was determined to have a more active birth this time but hey. Another growth scan next month so will see where we are then I guess.
GTT done yesterday as well so waiting to see if all ok. Also had midwife appt who was adamant he was head down, obviously not! TBH she's a bit useless and I'm happy that I'm actually under the care of a consultant midwife as well. Saw her just before Xmas to go through previous birth (notes finally arrived thanks Lewisham 😒) and what happened/ went wrong and it gave me a lot of closure to find out I wasn't being silly - lots of avoidable issues and she was appalled at the care I had. Meeting again to go through plan for this time and feel so much better they will be prepped and aware of my history.
Finally dawned on me he's arriving in a matter of weeks so better get my ass in gear and sort stuff out. Looks like newborn stuff will be not needed so been looking at 0-3 instead. By the looks of things am gestating a small elephant 🐘😳

Teaspoon74 · 04/01/2017 14:33

Floozie & Blondes am 42 and 20+6 but already so so tired all the time!

Hiya UKRider - congrats!!! Haven't yet seen older or geriatric as such, but conscious that's why I'm being consultant led - which am more than happy with! MW is lovely, but doesn't really answer questions with anything more than "everyone's different" whereas I get the detail I need from the consultant!!

Hellbel- I'm on aspirin too. And need to self inject after 28wks until 6wks afterwards - sthg to do with age and BMI. Terrified as hate needles!

Womble- made me laugh out loud!! Good luck with the not so little one and glad things are going well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/01/2017 17:24

Helles. That's good then. I'm also on aspirin but assumed as had dvt

Have been injecting since 12w. Legs all bruised :(

Womble sorry to hear been poorly :(

I have 28w on Monday and was 2,4 a few weeks ago so assume will be heading up to 3lbs. Eekkkk

Pmsl at small elephant. Have they given you a rough weight at birth yet ?

Bloopbleep · 04/01/2017 17:51

Hello & happy new year!

Why will you have to swap to injecting? No one mentioned that to me yet. I'm on aspirin and extra folic acid (5mg) - I was told I have to take these until I give birth - and I get two extra scans at 30&36w due to age and thyroid probs.

Teaspoon74 · 04/01/2017 18:28

Hiya Bloop - the injections are apparently in addition to aspirin and start at wk 28.

ChristmasSeacow · 04/01/2017 18:39

Injecting aspirin - really?! Shock

ChristmasSeacow · 04/01/2017 18:42

Sorry, didn't refresh to see teaspoon's message. What are you injecting, if I may ask? I'm a bit further back than you guys so just wondering what might be in store.

Bump has popped out a bit this week. I still mostly just look fat but i can tell it isn't just my normal fat!

Womble75 · 04/01/2017 18:53

Blondes nope didn't give me an estimate but another scan next month and I've booked a private 4d next weekend so will see what that turns up. I was more shocked at the head size. My eyes are watering already... although DD was estimated to be a big and she was bang on 8lb but that was all guesswork as didn't "qualify" for extra scans then.
She was a long baby but he seems to be a big lad all over... 😳

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/01/2017 20:16

Fragmin. As I had a dvt 10yrs ago

Had since 12w and will have think 6w after bubs is born ESP if have a cs as movement will be restricted x

Teaspoon74 · 04/01/2017 21:33

Christmas - think it's dvt related, can't remember what the drug is ;). Not for everyone, but I think both myself and Blondes are / will be self injecting Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/01/2017 22:38

Have you had a dvt tea? Or is you're a precaution due to age /bmi?

Not the most flattering pic. I ended up moving to thighs as hated bump /bubs being bruised :(

ChristmasSeacow · 04/01/2017 23:48

Geez, that is fairly dramatic Blondes !

Teaspoon74 · 05/01/2017 00:03

Poor you Blondes! Am terrified of needles and will admit to being a bit anxious about this!

Bloopbleep · 05/01/2017 10:50

Your bump matches your top blondes - I had to inject biologics in my stomach until 18months ago so I don't envy you having to do that. I'm hoping I don't have to inject again :/

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2017 14:18

It's not nice and some sting or bleed if hit a muscle plus 99%bruise as you can see
Tho now thighs look awful as wanted a non bruised bump

But

If injections once a day and bruising keeps bubs and I safe then happy to do it iykwim

Think worked out would be almost 200 jabs up to birth and then maybe another 42 after if cs

Bloopbleep · 08/01/2017 00:02

Where did you all go for maternity clothes? My waistline is getting a bit tight and nowhere in real life seems to do maternity clothes. I've no idea what size I am after being so sick so I don't want to be buying online and sending back.

I'm a slob mostly so legging etc should be fine altho I have a wedding the week before I'm due in the summer and that's a whole other problem!
