Blondes - good luck tomoz! 20w scan went well. Front placenta and slightly awkward bubs mean we go back in 2w to check the heart (only visible laterally today).

MrsAlan - blimey!! Good luck with remainder of 1st tri. As a fellow 42 yr old (albeit a 1st timer) I can concur re being fed up. Consutant says all appears well but I'm sure this would have been easier ten (twenty?!) years ago.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/12/2016 18:02

Welcome mrs a. 43 but first timer. You will def know what to expect :)

Tea. Glad scan went well tho naughty baby not showing all. Mine was the same. Took 3 attempts to get all measurements and sex

Oj got bubs turning

OllyPea · 28/12/2016 20:27

Teaspoon that is a great relief for you. Naughty of buns re position but at least you have more confidence now and can rest easy! Re age in pregnancy so far I would say much of what I have experienced was same in 20s and 30s as it is now in my 40s. And when I was expecting #1 at 23 I was petrified and did not have best experience with not so nice MW for a pretty fast and furious delivery. Although I am imagining things won't 'snap back' quite as easily at 40 as they did way back then 🙈😋 I am also defo more worried this time but DH says I have always been same so maybe I forget each time or maybe it's old age 😜
Mrs Alan good luck with rest of 1st Trimester...not much longer to go now! How are your 4 feeling about the addition of #5?!
Although, I am heading for 20 weeks I am still ever so grumpy 🙃My 16 year old reliably informs me that I was same when expecting his bro and sis so now feel very much like a bad mamma indeed 😳

Waterfeature · 28/12/2016 23:23

I was going to pop in to introduce myself (I'm 44 and nearly 6 weeks pg) but I've just been to the loo and noticed some blood... I had a MC 18 months ago so am dreading the same thing again.

Teaspoon74 · 29/12/2016 00:03

Waterfeature - got an EPU nearby? Fingers crossed you're both ok.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/12/2016 07:14

Welcome water. Hope all is ok. Some ladies do bleed and baby is ok. Please get checked out asap - the heart often doesn't show till 6/4 or -7w but hopefully a sac will show 💐

I have emergency/reassurance scan today (which is nice as HOSP looking after me as geriatric and ivf) as if events tue night /wed am - think they just want to reassure me as heard heart and movement yesterday after my panic

OllyPea · 29/12/2016 08:19

Good luck today Blondes - brilliant to have such great medical support and kind team dealing with you. Enjoy seeing and hearing bubba!

Water really hope all is okay with you. As Blondes says bleeding can be normal for many. Crossing everything for you!

Waterfeature · 29/12/2016 09:24

Thanks all. I'm in two minds about EPU because I'm worried they might not see anything anyway so a scan wouldn't necessarily be conclusive. Also, I've got such horrible memories of last time. (Went for the second scan having already MC'd and the nurse said, "So you're here to see how your baby is getting on!" Err, no.) No more bleeding this am thankfully so I'm praying that was it.

Bloopbleep · 29/12/2016 10:48

At 6 weeks does the placenta not start to implant? I'm sure midwife told me that's why I had spotting at 6weeks. Epu would be unlikely to scan then but might take bloods to test hcg progress (needs two lots two days apart) - still worth giving them a call. They may also have you in in a week or two for a reassurance scan if you've had previous mc.

MrsAlanPartridge · 30/12/2016 20:29

Tanks for the welcome! OllyPea , only my 2 eldest know so far.. I really hope I get to tell the younger ones some good news.. just not feeling pg really so taking one day at a time.
waterfeature hi and how are things? Have you managed to get seen yet? I have also had several MC and MMC.. so this is certainly a fraught time. I really hope you're OK.

kwick · 30/12/2016 20:48

Hello ladies! Please may I join you?
I got a BFP today - my second - I had a MC at 8 weeks with last. I am 42 and single. After elation of BFP this morning am now in worrying stage... not sure I can cope with another MC.

ChristmasSeacow · 30/12/2016 23:04

Hi all.

Hope you get a good outcome water. It is a worrying time and so few 'clues' to go by as to how things are really going so early on Flowers

Congrats Kwick . I had early mc this summer but was pg three months later (a record for me, took 2 years to conceive my DS 5 years ago) and now 14 weeks. I am still finding it hard to relax and be excited without feeling I am tempting fate but it is a bit easier as time goes on. Those first weeks are awfully worrying though. Fingers crossed all goes well this time.

No news here except we told in-laws about the baby yesterday. They were really shocked (in a good way) because they didn't expect us to have another. Was rather satisfying to surprise them so much!

How goes it Blondes ?

FraggleRock77 · 31/12/2016 13:31

Hello everyone. Can i join the thread. I'm forty in 12 weeks. Long story short: DS1 conceived naturally, born at 29 weeks, luckily a healthy 3year old now. Struggled to conceive again for a while, pregnant then MMC. IUI converted to IVF fell pregnant, MMC. 2x FET no luck. IVF again, no luck. First month after failed treatment fell pregnant! Currently 5 Wks! Had pretty much come to terms with only having one child and now conflicted. On a ton of drugs due to immune issues. Will also need a cervical stitch if i get that far! After trying so hard to get pregnant, I'm now not that happy!

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/12/2016 14:43

All good thanks / bubs cooking nicely and 2.4lbs at 27w - gulps. Don't think I will have a 6lb baby lol

Kwick. Welcome - hope this preg is less worrying for you after last mc 💐💐 and hope you have support as dad not about

Seacow. I also shocked my dad tho only as he thought we gave up with ivf after 2nd cycle failed

Fraggle. Think I recognise your name. How horrible to have 2mc. Hope you are /will be consultant led and looking after you

Must be a shock to conceive naturally after countless ivf tho they do say that happens

Waterfeature · 31/12/2016 17:38

Thanks all for your kind words. I didn't go in in the end. It was only literally a spot of blood, and then a tiny brown smudge, so hoping massively that it was just a blip.

I keep hoping/imagining I feel sick... so silly.

I'm just trying to hold out until the dating scan and trying not to look at mc stats for women my age...

Happy new year to all.

ChristmasSeacow · 01/01/2017 23:30

Excellent news Water. Hopefully just a bit of breakthrough bleeding.

Happy new year to you all, and may 2017 bring lovely babies!

kwick · 02/01/2017 09:09

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Sorry blonde I should have said I am "happily" single - My magic potion was by way of a donor and IUI Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/01/2017 11:33

sometimes easier kwick, no one to rely on apart from yourself

my friend is doing the same next month, almost 40 and hasnt met the right men, but plenty of wrong including marrying one, so shes decided, prob same as you, that this way she will become a mum

Teaspoon74 · 02/01/2017 12:58

Hi Kwick & Fraggle, welcome.

Good news you're feeling a little better Water.

Blondes - at what point can they start giving you an idea of weight? My 20w scan indicated where she sits in terms of average bone length etc but I don't know how that equates to final baby size Confused

Starting to look at NCT classes. Thinking of starting around mid Feb (DD is 16/5). There are two options locally. One a bit easier to get to but in a gated community a short bus ride away and one a bit closer to home but less good for public transport (I don't drive) so it's an uphill waddle or an uber away. Any tips/ thoughts on how to decide from folk who've been before?

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/01/2017 14:39

Tea. We've always been told weight at each scan and length of bubs

this is a rough guide of height and length tho obv all babies are diff

Bubs is slightly more then the above average. Friend baby 6w behind me is always lighter then average

Being scanned next mon 9th and guide says 2.2/2.5 as in between 28/29w and she was 2.4lbs at 26/27

Teaspoon74 · 02/01/2017 17:00

Smashing - thanks Blondes!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/01/2017 20:19

Welcome. When's your next scan and how many weeks? always ask about weight or may be in your notes

Teaspoon74 · 02/01/2017 20:27

Next scan is the second shat at heart and thorax for anomaly - will be at 22 weeks then. I'll ask! Ta.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/01/2017 20:39

Is baby teaspoon not being helpful?

Bubs was the same. Took 3 attempts to get all measurements

Drinking oj hour before worked

Unlike the caffeine and star jumps scan lady suggested
