Hi Bloop
Unfortunately the high street isn't great and not much selection- most maternity clothes are online. New Look, H&M, Debenhams and Dorothy Perkins all sell a limited amount in some stores, but a bigger selection online. if you look at their store locater online it should tell you which branches do.
Mothercare and Peacocks also do but imo Mothercare is not exactly great.
Next are exclusively online also.
I bought most online from ASOS and new look. If you order in your usual size you should be ok - I'm in my third trimester now and ordered a few more things in a size up but only because I seem to be gestating a baby elephant.
New look is good for reasonably priced staples and always have offers on. To be honest most of my maternity clothes have come from there. True to size and decent quality.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2017 09:47

A lot of mine come from George /Asda. I hate shopping so so online and order variety of sizes and styles and send back 95% - but keeps my local delivery man in work 😂😂

I did buy a bundle of maternity clothes off eBay as stingy begrudge buying clothes I'm gonna fit into for few months and hopefully never wear again - think was £20 for 5 tops so £4 each where as many shops are least £10/15 for one top

I live in maternity leggings. Brought off amazon. Bloody comfy

Have in black blue and purple

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2017 09:48

Oh ffs 😡😡

Anyway they are lovely 😍 Have pjs and nighties from Asda. Think £10 each - and nice designs

Bloopbleep · 08/01/2017 11:11

Thanks I'll have a look on websites and see who's nearby- I can't afford to order loads and return the ones that don't fit as my measley job was cut by 50% time and money recently. I don't need tops as I wear huge tshirts anyway. I'll go check out the leggings on Amazon. Thank you

ChristmasSeacow · 08/01/2017 13:47

Maternity clothes are such a pain! I have just ordered done from Debenhams and gap - mostly basic tops and trousers but ivei gave to send some back, a bit of a pain.

I got a few things from jojo maman Bebe last time round and thought they were better quality than a lot of other stuff at the same price point. Got a couple of basic black skirts and some wrap tops for work and they lasted really well. I will be wearing then again his time round.

The thing I found hardest was jeans. Never did find a well fitting pair of maternity jeans, that was a real source of irritation and expense last time as I tried lots!

Bloopbleep · 08/01/2017 19:35

Just discovered new look leggings onlyngo up to size L which is 14 at largest. They must expect fatties don't get laid or pregnant or something. A friend linked to Yours who start at size 16 and their prices are ok. I'm a 16 so will look at them. Asda were sold out of everything I liked in my size.

Womble75 · 08/01/2017 19:46

Bloop I'm a16/18 and they fit me perfectly. Come right up over my bump.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2017 04:02

Have 28w scan today and Glucose and consultant

No food since 1030pm last night till about 11am this morning

It's 4am and fed baby and I'm bloody hungry. Coz my body knows I can't have it. How will I last another 7hrs till allowed to eat :(

Womble75 · 09/01/2017 05:29

Blondes I had mine last week. Have a few sips of warm water see if that helps.
I wasn't allowed to eat from 8pm and I'm never usually hungry at night but for some reason I was starving that evening lol.
You will be fine - once I had the glucose drink I felt better. Even went to sleep in the 2 hour wait - luckily they had put me in the tv lounge on my own but had no idea I was that tired until one of the HCA's woke me a bit panicked as she thought I had passed out Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2017 05:58

I would love to sleep. But have scan and consultant inbetween
I may be sleeping once home 11/12 😴😴😴😴

It's annoying as normally not hungry and it's Sod's law coz can't eat 😉😉

Gizmojo · 12/01/2017 08:20

Hi ladies. May I join you? I'm 42 and 13+5 with my first, after a miscarriage last summer. Am already getting bored of medical types mentioning my age (and my BMI, which is...not perfect either), like I can suddenly change it at this stage! You'd think they'd never seen a slightly tubby, over 40 pregnant before Grin. Still, they've not made me consultant-led, so it can't be that alarming...

Teaspoon74 · 12/01/2017 10:30

Hey Gizmo - welcome!
I too am a 42yo 1st timer. 22wks. High BMI. TBH I'm kinda glad that I'm consultant led. The MW gives me lots of non answers to my questions whereas the Dr just tells me how it is. I find the no-nonsense approach of DrH really reassuring ;)

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2017 11:24

Hi gizmo. Congrats and also first timer after 5ivf and 29w preg today and I'm high risk as geriatric 🙄 Ivf dvt and slightly plump lol

Am consultant led and fine with that as have 3w scans and checks

Btw the Glucose test was awful. Gagged big time on it and kept down for 2hrs then threw it up as have hg and was sick all afternoon

But results clear :)

ChristmasSeacow · 12/01/2017 16:20

Hi gizmojo, I am nearly 42, second timer and high bmi. 16+3. Have been referred to the consultant but mw says he will probably bounce me back after one consultation.

Congratulations!

Bloopbleep · 12/01/2017 21:07

Hey gizmojo- I'm sure we've met on the ttc thread. Welcome.

I've not had any negative comments about my age yet but then I keep having to remind them I'm over 40 for my "special treatment" (ha as if)
I'm 16w and fat with bmi of 31 and again no one has mentioned my weight either. I think I must have been really lucky with hip so far

ChristmasSeacow · 12/01/2017 23:26

Bloop you are my twin!

Gizmojo · 13/01/2017 08:27

Hi all and thanks for the welcome! Yes, Bloop I remember you from the ttc thread. Hi again! Only just been brave enough to join other boards, now we've had Harmony and dating scan.

I wish I was being seen by a consultant, tbh. Suspect the fact I'm not is a London thing?

I have heard of the glucose test and been told it's not pleasant but what does it actually involve?

ChristmasSeacow · 13/01/2017 09:13

I'm london Giz. At my booking appointment my midwife said I would not probably not get consultant-led care even with my age - but she referred me because of my bmi of 31ish. She said she would probably get ticked off though!

Bloopbleep · 13/01/2017 17:11

I have consultant care but haven't seen a consultant they just float about for midwives to corner if necessary. Saw a registrar briefly the other day but he was a dickhead (not age related) and my partner thinks it may be because they were at school together but different friends groups. I'd sincerely hope that wasn't the case at our age!

Seacow - twins indeed although I think I may have lost more weight so my I may be less again.

Gizmojo · 13/01/2017 18:53

That's interesting, seacow - my BMI is more like 39! The midwife who did my booking in appointment was...pretty lax, to put it mildly (e.g. Didn't actually test my urine sample, just made up the results!). I wonder whether the next one might change me to consultant-led?

Wow, bloop, yes you'd hope that wasn't the case!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/01/2017 20:50

I was told two /three boxes need to be ticked to red flag and consultant

I tick 4

First baby over 40
Ivf
Bmi
dvt

Scare you are on 2nd baby so assume only tick bmi

Gizmo you tick 2 - over 40 and bmi

So depends on area /consultant. You can ask to be consistent led

From what I gather the only diff is that you can't have a home or water birth

Glucose 28w. No food since 10pm previous evening tho can have water

SO starve till blood test. Usually try to arrange 830/9Am following day. Take blood then drink a cup of sweet yellow Glucose liquid and then wait two hours and retest blood.

Then can eat and drink and results usually following day

So basically 12/13hrs of no food and only water allowed. No chewing gum either

Gizmojo · 14/01/2017 18:51

I guess it depends a little bit when the 12/13 hours are but yeah, doesn't sound like much fun!!

Womble75 · 14/01/2017 20:33

GTT is overnight fasting - my appointment was at 8.15 so nothing after 8.15 that evening and by the time I'd got up got DD to nursery and then to hospital didn't really notice I hadn't eaten. Glucose drink was a bit bleurgh but ok. Fell asleep in waiting room Hmm
I see the consultant Tuesday. Should have been 3 weeks ago but my last hospital took forever to send my previous birth notes. Fully prepared I may have to opt for ELCS this time so trying to get my head round it. On top of everything else I'm now anaemic, gallbladder still playing up and as I have a tendency to pph and bleeds I'm trying to weigh the best option for a safe delivery for us both. Especially as he is breech and looking to be a whopper. So I don't think I will be getting the birth I wanted after DD's horrendous labour but at least I can choose the safest and hopefully the best.
Having a 4d scan tomorrow so quite excited. DD Is coming as she's so looking forward to being a big sister.
Movements are a bit weird this time around. As he is breech they aren't as strong as DD's were. And In totally random places.
He's a night owl like his sister though.
Can't wait for March to get here now. This pregnancy has been so different and so much harder than the last one. There's only 4 years difference but it's really been a struggle. I was so relaxed and enjoyed DD's.
Hope everyone is doing ok!

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2017 00:11

Womble. Bubs is also breech. Hoping she will turn. Don't really want a cs but will do as advised

Enjoy your 4d tomorrow. Well today lol. I've got mine next sat

How many weeks are you? Due date?
