Blondes To be fair it's nice having the extra care. It's helped reassure me after 4 mc's after DD. And my experience this pregnancy compared to my last one in London (different area now) is much better. Finally starting to relax and "enjoy" it a bit more now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/12/2016 22:51

4mc. That's tough 💐💐

So they should take care of you !!

I thought London would have been good with specialists etc

Where are you now, that gives better care , if that's not outing yourself?

Womble75 · 09/12/2016 23:01

I'm in deepest darkest Hampshire now lol. Couldn't be more different. I was in SE London with DD and had a horrendous time.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/12/2016 23:04

Yah for Hampshire. Glad having a better experience

I can't fault the NHS care I'm getting in Kent

staveleymum · 10/12/2016 08:53

Hi there everyone

I've just peed on a stick (to rule it out) and there's a double pink line! Shit... Not planned but wasnt taking precautions as I am 44 and a half and really 'didnt think it would happen to me'. The pregnancy line is a bit blurry/smudged but its there.

I already have a DS8 and DD6 and were not planning on additional kids. I'd had the implant 3 years ago due an earlier oops but mc at 7 weeks but it didnt agree with me so had it removed after a year and then thought with a bit of abstinence on key days I'd be okay. AF a bit erratic but put it down to pre menopausal symptoms so was a bit unclear of dates (obviously).

Ironically it is almost 3 years to the day I discovered I was pregnant last time (not drinking over Christmas). I cant even begin to get my head round this let alone tell my DP.

Congratulations to all other forty plus of you on here, showing that we are beating the odds!

ChristmasSeacow · 10/12/2016 10:30

Hi Stavely, that's a bit of a shock! How do you feel, deep down, about another one and how will your DH react? Your head will be full of it all, I am sure!

Nice to see the thread a bit busier and glad the rest of you are doing well. I am feeling very jolly today - got the Harmony results yesterday, which was quicker than I expected so I didn't have a chance to get on tenterhooks. Results all within the normal range so low risk for the three trisomies (1:10,000). Yay!

We also found out we are having a girl! I find it a bit strange to know at 11 weeks, before the world even knows we are expecting. My head wants a girl, as I explained before, but my heart didn't mind which. Slight twinge that my favourite boy's name is no longer needed though although DH would never have agreed to it anyway

ChristmasSeacow · 10/12/2016 10:32

Bloop I am indeed very glad to have my scan before Christmas. I would have had to tell family then anyway as the not drinking would have raised all sorts of questions! Are you going to tell people or try and wait?

What is your due date, btw?

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/12/2016 12:51

Stacey. Wow. Congrats yes a shock - what has dh said

Sea. Fab news harmony back ok and yah for pink 💓💓

Bloopbleep · 10/12/2016 13:50

Congrats staveley! Welcome to geriatric's corner ;)

Seacow - how lovely to find out you're having a girl!

I think all my closest family already know and as I don't drink anyway that wouldn't be a problem but I'm struggling to eat anything and as people seem to think it's a day you eat until you explode (don't get me started on the politics of this!) that will be hard.

My due date is 02/07 but I've been told I'll be given a section (can't be induced) a week or so before that so end of June. When s gour due date?

MrsAlanPartridge · 10/12/2016 14:02

Tentatively joining.. I'm 42 and 8 weeks pregnant. Trying to stay positive, which is quite hard as had 2 MMC a couple of years ago. This will (hopefully) be our 5th child. My symptoms appear to have abated over the last few days, so I'm struggling with distracting myself. Not got a booking appt for another 2 weeks..

mightymouse76 · 10/12/2016 17:01

Afternoon all,
Congratulations Stavely and MrsAlanP!
And Christmas on your harmony results. Same stats as me- good feeling!

I'm feeling positively geriatric today. 17w tomorrow and for the second time this week I've fallen asleep for two hours in the afternoon (1st one so I realise this is a luxury those with existing DC's may not get!)

Still super nauseous every day too. I'm now trying (hard!) to see this as a good sign, as you know how madly anxious I am about this working out, but wow, I've become spectacularly crap at everything!! Award winning, no less. Today I have folded some washing, made mental lists, and made some spicy bean burgers that I couldn't bring myself to eat. That is all.

Roll on Xmas when I can go to DPs mum and dad's and revel in being totally smothered with care for 4 days. Normally find it a bit too much. This year I'm positively gasping for it...!

perfectpanda · 10/12/2016 21:45

Hello. I've been lurking around this thread and just have to say hello after reading staveleymum's post. My situation sounds so similar - 2 dc age 8 and 6, 44, miscarried 3 years ago, and been a bit haphazard with contraception because. .. well because 44 year olds don't get pregnant do they?! Anyway I'm a few weeks further down the line and had 12 week scan last week, waiting for harmony test results. Was feeling fairly crap about it all, because I've psychologically and practically really moved on from the baby bit. But the scan helped enormously, lovely to see the baby. I'm still not ready to go public though. It's been great reading everyone else's stories but I really feel for all those with terrible nausea and vomiting.

ChristmasSeacow · 10/12/2016 23:25

Bloop I'm due 29 or 30 June. No idea yet whether they'll let me go the distance - I did with DS but was only 37 then Wink. We will be pretty much in step all the way.

Mighty rest assured I am also hopeless. I have been completely unproductive for the last 2 months; consequently I am feeling rather stressed about lack of Christmas prep and the fact that the house is getting cluttered and a little out of control. I main yo DH about it and then have a nap Wink

Welcome new people. Panda I know what you mean about moving on. This is my second child and very much wanted but not necessarily expected (difficulties in the past) and we have a much bigger gap than I would have planned. So although we've gone into this consciously, it is not without a slight gulp at going back to the baby days just as we are getting back to an easier and more rested life!

ChristmasSeacow · 11/12/2016 08:34

I have come out in loads of spots Angry

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/12/2016 09:27

Mrs Alan. Welcome and congrats

Panda. Congrats as well and yes seeing baby on the scan makes all the diff

Did you have harmony as the 12w measurements and blood test showed high possibility - or you did it to reassure yourself being geriatric

Be interesting if you get told that much. I get told all the time and over my medical notes that I'm geriatric ....... I'm
43 and first preg that has taken 10yrs and 5 private ivf

Christmas. Boo to spots

BeamReach · 11/12/2016 09:34

Hello new people..... Seems a lot of us have been coma ugly a bit by surprise.... I am still adjusting after a surprise positive 2 weeks ago (previously told it was unlikely I could get preg and the 2 years that had passed since that verdict surely did not improve the odds!) ....
This will be my first.... I am happy and terrified in equal measure, having grieved the news of my barrenness deeply and emerged from the other side......

A scan on Tuesday (about 8/40) will hopefully help me adjust and it feel more real (please let there be a heartbeat and the dates align.....) .... The absolute joy among my friends and family (it being an unexpected first) is buoying me up.....

BeamReach · 11/12/2016 09:36

"Come as a bit of a surprise" not "coma ugly".... What is wrong with my phone???

shirkingworking · 11/12/2016 10:55

Hi all - gosh, a real mixture here of first timers and unexpected surprises (or both!). Yes, pregnancy spots are really really annoying. I've also got them about 6 months after giving birth each time - that's annoying too. Panda - I am in similar shock.... took me ages to persuade DH to have number 3 and it is just about getting easier with her now she's nearly 2 (numbers 1 and 2 are super good and in junior school now). Now pregnant with number 4 - if it sticks. One night of not being careful! I know we're extremely lucky to get pregnant so easily but it really wasn't what I wanted at this stage. But I could never terminate (am v pro choice but know I couldn't manage it psychologically) and I'm sure I'll love baby number 4 as much as the other 3 even if I am totally shattered and look/feel like I'm in my 50s when the baby arrives rather than 40s. (Suspect I already do...). Back to the EPU tomorrow to check it's progressing as GP was worried it was ectopic because I had a positive test 'too early' by my dates. (Only DTD once so I'm certain of that even if I can't pin point conception...!)

perfectpanda · 11/12/2016 21:09

My hospital offered me harmony on the nhs as my risk was between 1 in 100 and 1 in 500. I was much closer to the 500 end and was quite pleased with result as it meant I got the test for free!

I've been 1 in 8 on previous pregnancy and things went very wrong so I feel pretty calm about this result. And waiting for results is a good excuse to not tell anyone and pretend it's not happening for a bit longer!

I have told a few people though, and they've been lovely, and so far, no raised eyebrows about my advanced age.....

perfectpanda · 11/12/2016 21:11

And my first pregnancy symptom was a load of zits - so my sympathies christmas!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/12/2016 21:58

Fab panda to get on NHS. Didn't know they did that. Friends have paid £400 for it

And I'm 43 and first bubs - you are a year older and on no 3. Don't worry 💐💐

shirkingworking · 12/12/2016 09:39

Good Panda - glad your hospital did that. I got Harmony last time too (I was 39) as part of a research project and will get it again this time if I get that far.

Blondes - I know a few people who had their first in their 40s. It's really common now. Anyway, we'll all live to 100 now our medicine/health is so much better...(?)

BeamReach · 12/12/2016 09:44

Midwife cancelled on me this morning for booking appointment....now it is all happening tommorow.... Private scan in AM.... Midwife in PM ..... At least DP can be there for both now (though was rather hoping to get all my neurotic questions answered without him earwigging!).....

Bloopbleep · 12/12/2016 10:15

Beam they rarely allow partners in at the booking appointment at least they haven't at any of mine

Bloopbleep · 12/12/2016 10:16

Hello all new people!
