I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
links.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

lovely to hear coldplay went so well! :)

RaeSkywalker · 19/06/2016 20:52

Oooh Lucinda! A Velcro cake you say- I will definitely have a look for one of those later.

ickle so glad you had fun! Hope that your DS let you get some rest. Goodwood is this coming weekend- I realised that in my original post I said 'this weekend', because I am an idiot. I will let you all know how it goes this time next weekend though!

... Goodness I've said 'weekend' a lot in my post!!

LucindaE · 19/06/2016 22:20

Very quiet on here. Despite it being Father's Day, I do hope everyone isn't overdoing it, says Mother Hen.

Yes I thought the same lucinda!

Well despite my mum being adamant I was to rest sunday she then suggested I come with her, ds and dh for an afternoon out. I had a lovely time but tired as a result. Sickness wise however this weekend has been much better...have managed lunch both days...going to go to gp anyway but where as on Friday I thought I would have to get signed off now I'm not sure what to ask for...maybe just rest today and attempt work tue/wed.

rae sorry for getting date wrong hopefully this time next week you will be feeling much better! How was sickness this weekend?

Thanks seaeagle still can't get over how good they were to be honest!

Hope everyone else is ok and had good weekends.

LucyHMK · 20/06/2016 06:47

Rae, Lucinda, yes they do! You can also get wooden Velcro veg & a knife set so you can prep the veg & mini Waitrose packets & tins. We also bought my 'nieces' (they aren't, I'm just 'Aunty Ooucy') mini Fortnums tea caddies. I would say that's even more embarrassingly middle class, but I'm not sure that exists in Winchester! Ha!

ickle so glad you had a great time. It's nice to feel like you've managed to do something normal. Quite the achievement.

We went all the way to Suffolk (7 hour round trip) to surprise FIL with a lunch out yesterday, managed half a main course, and get this: pudding! Then managed to feed the horses without gagging. Something is definitely happening here, I'm really hoping IT is beginning to ease off. Think I can feel the baby too, my tummy started fluttering around when I started my fish & chips yesterday. It's a bit early (14 weeks on Friday), but I was told I might feel things quickly being pregnant so soon after the surgery. Exciting! We were a hiccupy little thing during the scan, so perhaps we were over excited about lunch (that's dad's baby for sure!!).

Hope everyone has a nice/manageable/not-horrendous Monday.

RaeSkywalker · 20/06/2016 07:20

ickle I'm so pleased to hear about your lunches! I've been ok this weekend, was quite bad on Friday night but have been ok since. So so tired though!

Lucy I need to start researching fake food more! Your weekend sounds lovely. You were in my neck of the woods! It's so lovely when you feel the baby moving- I think mine started at about 16 weeks. It doesn't stop me worrying though- I'm currently freaking out because I haven't felt mine yet today!

SleepymrsE · 20/06/2016 08:20

Very quick message to say, well done ickle on Coldplay - so glad you had a good time. I was busy working all day on Saturday and then out with the in laws yesterday. Think the HG is def improving, have stomached a few cups of tea this weekend and managed chicken dippers and some wedges yesterday (still one the beige spectrum but better).

Well done to you too lucy, and those first flutters are such a lovely feeling. They are still fairly pleasant at 24 weeks but know they'll start to get painful soon and should make the most of it.

Right, at work so better crack on - it's another very busy week so roll on Sunday and then it's birthday preparations and big boy bedroom decorating.

mrsmonkey14 · 20/06/2016 08:55

Morning all, it sounds like there's some faint chinks of improvement from lots of people - hurrah!! I also feel I've turned a bit of a corner - I feel like it's taken me a really long time to get back to my 'normal' since being admitted a couple of wks ago. But since Friday I've managed to eat and keep food down - nothing spectacular, but just the standard fare of cereal/toast/cheese sandwich etc and consequently feel SO much better. Ketones slightly raised this morning as I've definitely been overdoing it this weekend (hides from mother hen), but DH was away sat night so I was alone with DD, and then we had her little friend's bday party yesterday.
Excellent that you made it to Coldplay ickle and fingers crossed for goodwood this wkend rae.
Toy food sounds good for 3yo, transport seems to be popular at that age too - so matchbox cars, construction vehicles etc. My niece is 3.5y and has moved on from Lego duplo (the toddler one) to more grown up Lego, so that could be another option?
It's lovely when friends pass on baby stuff, I will have to decide after this baby whether to start giving away baby things after she outgrows them... Or put aside for no.3?!!!!!!! (What am I thinking! DH is quite certain that 'we' can't go through this again)

Waves to everyone, it's raining again here and I've a quiet day as DD off at childminder so going to rest lots, my beautician lady is coming later to do my nails and a pre-birth wax (!) but that won't be too taxing! (And she is very accommodating of need to vomit mid nails etc 😊)

Fingers crossed everyone has a better week.

icklekid · 20/06/2016 09:45

Well ladies very sick this morning and went to gp (booked last week as wasn't well) he insisted I take 2 weeks off work. So gutted after such a long slow return. He then wants me to only go back to do handover rather than properly work...fed up doesn't begin to describe how I feel but I know it is the right decision. Dr also more concerned that I've had + ketones for several weeks, I was thinking didn't matter unless ++ but if no better by wed will be back in hospital...🙁

Builders should be all done by wed and then decorating done by the weekend (dh taking Friday off) so fingers crossed will be all done by the end of the week...phew!

mrsmonkey fingers crossed you continue to build on feeling well. Enjoy nails and wax (crazy lady!) I may book a haircut to make me feel better.

sleepy well done on beige fest that is all I could contemplate too...

rae ikea does nice baskets of pretend fruit and veg which is fabric not plastic which I like!

lucy well done on long drive and for starting to feel a bit better. Enjoy early kicks. Mine are definitely painful now so enjoyed less. My mum couldn't believe how strong they were- she could see from across the room!

mrsmonkey14 · 20/06/2016 10:04

Sorry to hear GP advice wasn't what you wanted ickle but definitely sounds like excellent advice - I know you love working but please try to enjoy a bit of a rest, sounds like you're still doing too much - get those ketones down if you can! Sending hugs.

We've just bought DD the IKEA fruit and veg and it was a big hit! (Naturally DH went alone to IKEA with my list. I don't think I would have made it round the store!)

icklekid · 20/06/2016 13:16

rae since I'm not working thought I would do some cake research for you!

RaeSkywalker · 20/06/2016 13:50

mrsmonkey I'm so happy to hear that you're feeling a bit better. Good luck with the waxing 😁

ickle thank you for the research! I'm so sorry that you've been signed off again, I totally understand how frustrated you must be. It does sounds like it's for the best though. You need to look after yourself Flowers

I definitely need to get to IKEA soon!!

LucindaE · 20/06/2016 20:34

Icklekid Sorry you have been laid off- a little hen must have dropped a word in the doctor's ear, I think [winks]. Glad you had a nice time with your mother.
Lucy Those tea caddies sound nice. I felt movements somewhere round thirteen weeks - everyone said it was impossible, but definitely a fluttering.
Rae mrsmonkey and everyone - that fabric play food sounds a great idea. I've just remembered how my DD loved wooden bricks, too.
Great to hear SleepymrsE and mrsmonkey feel a bit better...
Apologies if I've rudely overlooked anyone...

SpecialStains · 20/06/2016 21:56

Hello, thanks for the gift advice. I'm looking at some food/cooking playsets now!

Ickle Glad you had a good time at Coldplay, but I'm sorry you've been signed off.

MrsMonkey Glad you're feeling better and that the beige food diet is at least keeping stuff down.

Lucy Enjoy the fluttering feeling. Kicks in the ribs and headbuts out the stomach aren't quite so pleasant!

Waves to everyone else. Only two more days at work to get through. I'm struggling a bit, and looking forward to some time off.

icklekid · 21/06/2016 04:49

2 more get ups special you can do it! Hope they are nice days not full of the stress of trying to get everything done!

lucinda hmm it did look like he knew why I was there before I arrived...🤔 scary that my ketones have already dropped (after being trace/+ for weeks)!

rae we're getting ds the ikea toy kitchen for his birthday so need to drag dh there too...he did manage to realise suggesting I go by myself wasn't a realistic idea! Unlike b&q where they took pity on the heavily pregnant lady looking at tub of 10l paint! Not sure ikea are quite so helpful with lifting boxes etc...

Ds was a pain last night refused to eat, just wanted to play. I was not feeling well and dh was no where to be seen. Eventually I told him to come and spend some time with his son and that I shouldn't always have to deal with him all the time. I know I snapped, I know he's probably annoyed. He bought me flowers as he knew I was feeling miserable and stayed in rather than going out still watched the football and I probably wasn't grateful enough. However I do think before dc2 comes he needs to realise that things will need to change! Right sorry 4.30am rant over! As you were...

LucyHMK · 21/06/2016 15:51

Oh no, ickle sounds like you're having a rubbish week. Try & make the most of the time away, stressing about it won't help. Maybe doc read these messages!

Weekend exploits have exhausted me. Finished work early yesterday & burnt out today. I even slept most of the way to Suffolk in the car. Feeling very odd, sickness seems to have been replaced with a hit-by-a-bus level of tiredness. Better than the 24 hour sickness, but still unpleasant. I also keep hiccuping constantly so I can't stay asleep - baby takes after me there!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Lucinda, you're right, definitely was something - even if it is 'too early'. The fluttery has eased off since yesterday, the baby must have moved. Special, Sleepy those big kicks sound painful!

Rae I kind of want to play kitchen now!

LucyHMK · 21/06/2016 15:53

Oh, and MrsMonkey IKEA are very accommodating to sickly pregnant ladies. I'm afraid to say I know that first hand!

SleepymrsE · 21/06/2016 16:59

So, two days of reduced tablets to 3 a day has resulted in me feeling sick again today. Suffered last night with heartburn induced, sudden wake run the bathroom vomits. As well as nausea today, the swelling in my feet/ankles/legs has returned and I think little ones is under my rib causing me to be really uncomfortable (DS was breech until 36 weeks and it was so uncomfortable so hoping this one won't be the same). How am I only 24 weeks, my due date seems like forever away right now.

Sorry for the woe is me post. Sorry to hear you're feeling really tired lucy, and sorry that you've been signed off ickle but it does sound like you need the rest.

Hi to everyone else. Sorry for lack of personals.

SleepymrsE · 21/06/2016 17:01

Ps enjoy the countdown to mat leave special, can't say I'm not jealous right now.

RaeSkywalker · 21/06/2016 17:58

Special hope your 2 days go well!

ickle at least you got some flowers I guess Sad As for getting help, I asked someone to carry a load of files for me at work the other day. It feels so weird having to ask!!

Lucy I am exactly the same! So tired my bones ache! I've just woken up having slept from about midday Blush Thought that this must be a normal pregnancy thing but my Mum was horrified and said most women have lots of energy in their second trimester, so I reckon this must be another lovely benefit of HG too Hmm

Oh Sleepy I'm so sorry- can you up your dose again?

LucindaE · 21/06/2016 18:21

Lucy Hiccups like that sound awful - I think they're really painful if they go on too long. I think the awful fatigue you and Ray are expereincing is a side effect of Hyperemesis, unluckily. One of the many...
SleepymrsE Oh dear, waking up to a bathroom run is not nice. I hope baby turns round, too.
icklekid OH probably needed this fact emphasizing, though it's nice he bought you flowers.
SpecialStains How was today? I hope everyone is coping.

icklekid · 22/06/2016 04:09

lucinda thanks dh obviously got the hint as was much better with ds today 😉 he did then proceed to make me feel bad for being tired when painting this eve but I just ate an ice lolly in response to that!

rae I am the worst at asking for help, especially at work! Many times people have offered and I still find it hard to say yes! Sorry to hear you and lucy are struggling with tiredness. I don't think everyone gets that surge of energy in 2nd trimester and logically with hg you are not taking in enough food to give you that energy really...that's what I presumed anyway!

sleepy I know that feeling of due date feeling forever away. Im nearly 30 weeks now and still feels like an uphill battle... hope you have increased medication again and that it is helping. I've got awful cramp in my leg-get it when dehydrated, oh the irony! Look after yourself!

special one more day!!! 🎉 hope it whizzes past and then you can relax and enjoy maternity leave!

Lying here listening to a huge number of birds singing, feeling baby kicking and despite nausea and everything aching am feeling grateful. Thank you all ladies for being such an incredible support. Dh always jokes about how much I am on mn but I genuinely don't know how I would have got to this point in my pregnancy without being able to share and know others understand. Thank you all!

LucyHMK · 22/06/2016 10:27

The reduced tablets idea is not good. I take back all the 'I've not been sick'-ness. Now tired and sick. Yucky.

Is it just me that secretly hates (just a bit) friends who keep telling you that you'll have loads of energy soon. No, I don't. And can I nap now, please.

💤🤒💤😷💤

Reebok · 22/06/2016 10:45

Hello everyone. I'm not to sure if anyone remembers me. I was a member of this group 7 weeks ago. Things have been difficult. DD2 has had thrush (so have I) and been diagnosed with reflux. DD1s reflux has gotten worse and it's possible she may have a hiatal hernia at the age of 2 causing the reflux. No sleep to say the least.
To those of you who do, you are always in my thoughts. Remember to take one day at a time and each one brings you closer to the pink castle.

To those of you in the worst of it, remember to take it easy. Sod work if you haven't already...take the drugs...please don't feel guilty. I highly recommend omeprazole for reflux and ondansetron for the sickness (just invest in suppositories and enemas for constipation).

This too shall pass (something I try to remind myself of as I battle with two infants with reflux).

Waves to mother hen, ealli, meerka, ickle, special, mrsmonkey, mrsamerica, Rae, sleepy, fresh and everyone else. Sorry not to mention everyone by name.

icklekid · 22/06/2016 13:01

Waves at reebok I'm really sorry to hear that things are still difficult. Both thrush and reflux are horrible for babies (and you!!!) Seems totally unfair that dd1 can also still be suffering...they say bad things come in 3s so surely you are done now!!! So kind of you to pop back and say hi, I think I will find it hard to stop popping in too...hopefully only 10 weeks to go!
