I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
links.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi Sleepy! Yes, I don't know where I'd be without this thread, it's a lifeline. It's really wet and cold here today too- I wore my winter coat into work this morning! Sorry to hear you're suffering today Sad. Hopefully the lack of swab results so far means that it's the news you're expecting? I know what you mean about the amount of time spent with HCPs, I was taking to a manger at work today and said I'm happy to just be out of the house for a reason other than seeing the doctor! I seriously don't know how those of you who already have children manage to keep going- I'm in awe of you all, genuinely.

The spa day voucher runs out when the baby will only be a month old so I think I really need to use it before it arrives unfortunately. Worst case scenario I'll just offer it to one of my aunties and they can keep my mum company for the day. It would be nice to be able to do it though! It's so strange that things like this make me anxious now when I would've loved it (and not thought twice about going) before- now I just keep thinking about what the heck I'll do if I'm halfway through a facial and need to be sick, or if I'll mange any of the lunch. Or how I'll cope with the food smells from everyone else's lunch! It's not worth stressing over but it is a shame.

LucindaE · 31/05/2016 19:15

Just dashing on to symapthise with mrsmonkey for being admitted. I hope you're feeling better for the fluids. What were your ketones?
Interesting its been cold and rainy in other parts of the country; for once, here in Wales, it isn't raining when it's dry elsewhere.
Rae Whatever Victorian genteel women wore when pregnant...Hopefully, they left off their corsets.
almondbutter I hope you get more effective meds soon.

Back soon.

Sorry, SleepymrsE it was Rae who told that story about her tolerance over the ginger recommendation. With you its Sadcommiserations for having to spend more time in in hospitals.

Thanks sleepy: I am already on Omeprazole but think you're right that my acid puking is reflux related, especially since it's first thing in the morning. I seem to have extra vicious reflux; there's been no small amount of coughing up ick into tissues and spitting far too much only for mouth to refill again with saliva immediately. I might ask GP to bump up reflux meds before we try anything different on the food/nausea related puking.

Hope you're all having restful nights on your respective sofas/beds/armchairs.

icklekid · 01/06/2016 05:28

mrsmonkey sorry to hear you are back in hospital hope you already feel so much better for it though

almond does sound like reflux medication needs reviewing hope thwt makes a big difference soon

rae really hope you can make the spa day- especially if just with your mum. I went to one a few months ago and just to have a child free day to relax, swim, use the slumber lounge (if they have one of those definitely have a nap!) And relax in was amazing. I was sick a couple of times whilst there (and lunch was a mistake) but so worth it just for a day away. I didn't attempt any treatments though just a good book/magazine!

sleepy mr tumble doesn't seem to have the same magic as peppa, paw patrol or raa raa at the moment (top 3 favourites 😉) however any tv is better than none! Hope you manage to slow down- I've started to get tightenings which are similar to braxton hicks I think but even getting them now whilst lying down after a good night's sleep! I know how hard it is to do less with a toddler but think we just have to lower expectations (I like to think of it as preparation for baby being here!!)

Sorry to anyone else rudely forgotten... yesterday I had was really down all eve. I went to pregnancy pilates class, which I really enjoyed last pregnancy. I spent most of it feeling sick, dizzy and generally pathetic. I'd spent the day with mil and ds slept for 3h (until I woke him!) So I'd had a lovely chilled day (other than making small talk with mil for 3h!!!) I just felt so pathetic and whilst the teacher was fine and really understanding it really got to me. Dh tried to understand but just said I would have a better day tomorrow...I'd hadn't been a bad day so at 9pm I came to bed! I've woken up feeling ok just nervous as got plans to see a friend but not sure if ds will nap whilst out and there were about 8 noisy builders at our house yesterday and probably the same today. Need it to be sunny so I can go for a walk and find somewhere quiet to sit whilst he sleeps, however woken up to grey clouds everywhere 🙁 I just feel fed up with how debilitating hg is. Everyone keeps saying pregnancy is flying by now but I just feel like it's never ending and 3 months is a long time to have left! Sorry to moan- I'm normally quite a positive person but feeling fed up!

icklekid · 01/06/2016 05:28

And that ended up being a ridiculously long post...sorry ladies!

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 07:02

Thanks ickle, fingers crossed! I'm supposed to have a facial, massage and manicure... Hopefully my HG will improve enough. I'd like to go as it was out Christmas present from my dad. And I need a break! Sorry about your Pilates class. Good news about your DS and his epic nap though- I hope the same happens today. I know exactly what you mean about pregnancy dragging. No advice, just sympathy. I hope you have a good day today Flowers

mrsmonkey14 · 01/06/2016 07:57

Morning all
almond I meant to say you want something for the acid as well as an anti-emetic (as sleepy advised), but I've just seen you're already on omeprazole. For some reason I've been prescribed ranitidine rather than omeprazole, the rest of you seem to get given omeprazole, just mentioning in case worth trying ranitidine instead, or perhaps adjusting your dose if GP agrees.
ickle sorry you had a bad evening and experience at pilates, I really understand. Do you generally feel worse in evenings? I do and no longer go to an evening class - it means I've missed lots of pilates lately due to holiday/DH being busy on a sat morning, it's a shame as I need it for my pelvis pain, but I darent risk the evening class. Is there a daytime class you could try? I hope things feel better today, it's completely natural to have these days where we feel miserable. Hope weather perks up for you too so things are easier with DS. It rained loads here yest and in the morning DD was looking sadly out into the garden saying 'slide! Garden! Wheeee! Oh no! Raining.' 😊 Poor thing we've just bought her a slide and she hasn't been on it yet.
Update from me, I'm back home, came home late last night as wanted my own bed, ketones were still +1 and they ideally wanted them at 0, but midwife rang consultant and he said I could go if I felt OK, esp as have apt with him later today so they'll check me again. They told me to bring overnight bag just in case. I obv felt a lot better so said I'd leave, but I probably should have stayed as I felt so weak even just leaving hospital to get to the taxi. Tested ketones this morning and they are back up to +2 but I've had a long sleep so guess to be expected? On a mission to drink as much as poss this morning. Wish I could stay in bed all day but have my scan booked so need to go to that.
Thank you for all the good wishes, to be honest it was a relief to be in hospital as I felt so dreadful, I had my own room so it was quite calm and peaceful and I managed to doze a bit.
The good news is I don't feel at all sick this morning (I hope not famous last words!).
Slightly stronger waves to everyone! Xx

mrsmonkey14 · 01/06/2016 10:15

Wow amazing! Beautiful baby girl amys! Well done you and how amazing of DH to deliver her. Hope you are all recovering ok. Much love xxx

almondbutter · 01/06/2016 11:06

amys she is gorgeous, congratulations and what a story. Thinking of adding a car or journey inspired name at all? (Now trying to think of one...)

amysmummy12345 · 01/06/2016 11:36

Haha Carrie for dual carriage way 😂

SleepymrsE · 01/06/2016 12:17

Huge congrats amys - she's so gorgeous! She looks a good weight too. Well done you on a very quick labour and delivering in the car. Now all you need to do is enjoy all the snuggles and all the food you can now once again eat.

MotherofPearl · 01/06/2016 12:34

Amys, what exciting news, many congratulations! I'm so thrilled for you, and what a sweet poppet she is! I love the dramatic birth story, although it must have been pretty scary at the time. Enjoy every moment of the newborn snuggles. FlowersFlowers

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 13:01

amys that is such wonderful news! What a beauty. Huge congratulations to you. I hop that you're feeling ok.

mrsmonkey I hope that your scan and appointment go well and you can stay home! If I go back in again I will be desperate to avoid more overnights.

icklekid · 01/06/2016 13:18

Huge congratulations amysmummy so relieved that hg is over for you! What a dramatic birth story...also laughing at Carrie! Glad you didn't have to wait to long. She is so beautiful thanks for sharing.

Had a nice relaxed morning and ds is napping well despite builders being noisy. Should mean I will get through the day as long as dh isn't too late back!

eallison88 · 01/06/2016 13:54

amysmummy well done you!!! Of couse she made an exciting entrance after the dramatic pregnancy she's given you!enjoy baby shnuggles and the food!

mrsmonkey th sugaryou the drink the better. Don't bother with water (unless it's all you can manage),it won't help with the ketone very much. Sugary drinks will
The juice from tinned peaches (along with the peaches) was good for me,so that might be worth a try

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 14:03

ickle well done to your DS! Grin

Northernlights123 · 01/06/2016 16:24

Hi all
New to the group
15 weeks and suffered from HG from week six.
Need advice re screening results. Did hyperemisis skew your screening blood test results at all?
I'm very high risk for downs as a result of screening blood test as part of combined test. Waiting for harmony results.

X

MotherofPearl · 01/06/2016 16:25

Also meant to say sorry to hear you've been in hospital MrsMonkey, that is really rubbish, although as you say, the best place if you're feeling really bad. IV meds and rehydration make an enormous difference. How are things now?
Ickle, so sorry to hear that you're feeling down, although totally understandable. Time feels like it stands still during an HG pregnancy, although it does pass of course.
Thinking of you all. I keep up with the thread but don't always get the chance to post! 3 children is more work than I anticipated!

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 16:43

Hi Northern, welcome. Sorry that you're suffering.

My screening results came back low risk so I haven't looked into it much further- a consultant did say early on that HG might indicate 'a problem' with the baby but was very vague and I chose to ignore him! Someone more knowledgeable than me should be along in a bit to help. Flowers for you- it's the understatement of the century to say that it must be are really worrying time.

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 16:43

Mother lovely to hear from you. Hope that you and yours are well.

Northernlights123 · 01/06/2016 16:57

Thanks Rae. Yep I'm in a bit of a state. Get harmony results tomorrow.
Thanks for responding xx

Nuttypops · 01/06/2016 17:13

I haven't popped in for a while, but reading is always a welcome diversion from the sickness. Thinking of everyone.

Congratulations Amys, what an arrive!

Nuttypops · 01/06/2016 17:14

That should read arrival, sorry!

Northern, I hope your results are back early tomorrow and all is well.
