Secur - are you going to try and finish at the end of this week then??

This heat is killing me - glad I'm not on a hot tube/stuffy office. I'm sooo sweaty and as red as the angry face.

It's all go here though - contractions still here but very infrequent. And I've just seen 2 blokes trying to break into the flat opposite. They ran off and so I am waiting to be interviewed by the police cos I got a good look at them. Hope they don't expect be to go down to the station! They may get more than they bargained for

Afternoon,

Still here and still not in labour!! Last night had another few hours of oh, sore back, maybe this is it (a bit like everyone else by the sounds of it) and then he-haw!! For the last 2 nights have done as Mears suggested to you Monkeygirl - and have woken up gutted both mornings at 7.30 - bugger !

Got an ante-natal check tomorrow at the Hospital as I will be 1 full week over then and then back again on the Thursday to get 'clerked' for a c-section next Monday - ahhhhhh! I really, really don't want another section - but looking on the bright side it looks like something is starting to happen and I do have another 5 days to get things shifting (if we write-off today) so please send me all you labour vibes - maybe I should go and ask the girls on the July thread as it is still a bit earlier for most of them......!

Anyway sorry I am so self-absorbed but have now run out of time and need to go and fetch DD a tad early from Nursery as she has the Dentist.

xx

Gomez - you can have lots of my labour vibes but hope you don't mind if I keep some back...

I know the reality is different but I'm beginning to think wistfully about a cs. But 5 days is plenty so I reckon you're in with a good shout yet...let's have a race hee hee!

Cavy · 13/06/2004 17:23

Karen, MG: I am excited for you! But glad it's not me. I'm doing ok still being pregnant, even in the heat.

Question: next week, when I would be 40wks+6days, the kids (age 2 & 4) are due to go on a zoo trip with playgroup. The playgroup staff are happy to take my 4yo alone, but would want a parent along if 2yo goes. Round trip it's about a 5.5 hour trip, on the coach.

Options:

  1. If I have the baby by then, I don't go and DH goes instead (easy).
  2. DH could just take the day off and I'd stay at home, most the day off without demanding kids.
  3. Actually I'd like to go if baby hasn't appeared. But playgroup are obviously nervous about me doing so! My other labours were preceded by on-off contractions for 1-3 days before, so I don't expect anything to happen suddenly this time, either. We don't have a car, so I can't go separately. If things did happen suddenly, I could call an ambulence to cart me off to hospital... Not worried about that, except I really wanted a homebirth this time!

What should I do? Go or plan that DH is taking them?

Skara · 13/06/2004 17:41

Cavy, I'd let dh take them, relax and enjoy a bit of peace, speaking as another parent of 4 and 2yo

Can't believe I leave you lot for a short while and come back and you're all threatening to pop all over the place - hope I don't stop all these potential labours by appearing, seeing as Jude and I seem to be some kind of curse on the rest of the June babies!

monkeygirl · 13/06/2004 20:52

Cavy - I can't believe you are even considering going - you are a brave brave woman. Needless to say I would not go and let dh go. Don't know about you but I was actually feeling fine until these last dark long days - stay at home and relax cos you might not get the chance for a while again. You can all go to the zoo another time together!

Skara - I'm beginning to think you're actually making it up that you've had a baby - I don't believe anybody on this thread is actually having a real pregnancy .

I had a good morning but am back to feeling like a zombie. Contractions are starting again I think. But that don't mean anything.

Littlelamb - forgot to say - if you want to share the gory details, go ahead! If you can't do it here, where else can you do it. I sure will!

Good luck all tonight.

MG- Same here I have walked round town with DH and had some slighlty stonger contractions.

MW came out to me today and I explained to her what they were like and she said that it soulnds like I am getting ready and it shouldn't be too much longer. heres hoping

Secur- I have enjoyed going swimming when I can be bothered, I have taken DD with me each time maybe I should go by myself, at the beginning of this pg I told mysself i was going to go swimming everyday after dropping DD at school. yeah like i was ever going to stick to that anyway

I had a good nights sleep last night we bought a big fan and put it at the bottom of the bed and i had it on all night. The only thing was i just turned the alrm off this morning then went back to sleep, (something i have never done on a school day ooops) Luckily woke up at 8 and shot out off bed to get DD up and washed and ready, then do breakfast and make her pack lunch but told DH he would have to get up to take her to school as I wouldn't have time to get myself ready aswell in 30 mins. All was well though by 8.30 DD had had breaky and a drink, washed got ready had her hair done and was on her way to school.. I did feel guilty though as she was still probably half asleep bless.

My friend had her baby yesterday a little boy 9lb 7oz. I am so excited and can't wait to see him but will have to wait until I go up north.. But hey then we will be able to coo over each other DS

I went swimming on sunday. - the life guards looked a bit worried when i waddled in!

it is so nice & rel;axing though even if i am slower than all the OAPs in the pool!

went out for a meal last night with some NCT friends.
Curry is on the menu tonight.

I know 2 people now who have had their babies early - overtaking me in the race

reckon I am gonna be late as well - sometime late next weeks just as my ds sitter goes on holiday!

Hope everyone is coping ok in the heat - DH got our big fan out of loft & paddlin gpool is full!

Just checking in...Seccur that swimming sounds blissful - I kept meaning to go and did take both children a couple of times early on but that's not really the same! Have to say though that 75 lengths sounds like some kind of nesting thing to me - in fact I bet my midwife would say that your baby was slightly out of line and that your compulsion to go swimming has moved it into a good birthing position

MG he is real, honestly . Had a thai curry last night and he was a bit more rumbly in the night than usual, dunno if it's coincidence or not - mind you it could have been yesterday's heat, he was zonked for the whole day and I was sweating most unattractively. However I am pleased to announce the rebirth of my ankles

I'm convinced you're all going to give birth on the same day and I'll be sitting here typing to myself!

Swimming gives me heartburn this pregnancy, how's that for a disincentive!?

Problem is, if I don't go to the zoo next week, and the baby hasn't appeared, what do I do with 5-6 hours all to myself? It's been so long since I had a big chunk of "me" time like that, I don't know what I'll do! Suggestions please???

Dossing on the Internet not to be on the list, though, I do that too much, anyway!

monkeygirl · 14/06/2004 14:25

Checking in, still pregnant I'm afraid and contractions have pretty much stopped. But I still like I have a cannonball pressing against my pelvis area and it's really debilitating now.
Secur - I was so disappointed yesterday. I saw the police out the window but they didn't even come round, which was strange cos, as far as I can work out, I was the only witness who got a really good look at them. Just another unsolvable attempted break-in to them I suppose. And I was looking forward to a nice uniformed man coming round to spice up my dull days at the moment, sigh...

I am so impresssed by all you swimmers. Secur - to me 75 lengths is superhuman even if you do normally do 150! Sounds like your body is getting ready. I think walking usually sorts me out. Until last weekend I was doing between 12-20 miles a week but I have hardly set foot outside the door in 4 days now! Today I have to start the nursery run again and am dreading it, even though I shall probably drive, cos I am really so so sore and feel so heavy.

Gomez - how was your mw appointment? I'm seeing mine tomorrow so hope she is as optimistic as yours.

Skara - ok I believe you then about Jude . But he does sound like a dream baby so far - lucky you.

Me and dh finally drew up our separate names list last night and I have talked him out of George as a first name. But we still can't really decide on a first name and will probably wait until db is born now, as we did with dd.

Have you lot all decided then?

Cavy - I dream of all that time to myself! Relax! Doze, read a novel or a magazine, pamper yourself a little, daydream, phone some old friends, go for a walk alone, put together a photo album or memories box, bake or cook something special for when everyone gets back, put together a special tape of 'happy' music...ooh I could go on and on....

Secur - even the postman is beginning to look quite attractive to me at the moment . Have got to get out more...

George reminds me of someone not so nice I'm afraid, but that's been the problem with a lot of boys names for me - have met too many geeks and freaks obviously!

Did your chosen name turn out to have Welsh roots then?

cathncait · 14/06/2004 15:57

Hi all. I'm still here too. 4 days to go and I'm sure the heads not even that far down so....noo nee noo. (thats me singing away for another 2 damn weeks no doubt!).
I have to say I don't envy all you girls being pregnant in summer. Its winter down here (and we have mild winters too) so I'm sure that its much more comfortable. As for all this exercise you girls are doing - are you trying to make me feel bad??? I find it hard enough to get up off the chair. Have taken some short walks but that is it for me. too knackered I'm afraid.
So will someone please have a baby soon???? Has anyone had any news yet? c'mon June!
