chandlerlierswinging thank you for the reassurance. What are anti-emetics? Keeping everything crossed for your scan on Monday.

obsessedlex that’s tricky… hope OH learns to be more patient. Going back to your scan… most EPUs offer reassurance scans for women who’ve suffered previous miscarriages. I found mine reassuring.

keys27 WOW – huge congratulations! Ad so early to find out the sex. Keep us posted regarding her heart.

threefairies ‘a wiggly little baby’ –what a lovely image!

bower fantastic news – hurrah!

I spent an hour or two with my head down the loo last night. Have resorted to travel sickness bands – they’re actually really uncomfortable! Has anyone else tried them?

My OH is cruising for a bruising at the moment – said something last night about ‘trying to be disciplined about what I eat’. I sometimes wish he could experience how I feel (physically and mentally) so he’d be more sympathetic!

One week today until my next scan… and aforementioned OH is away for the week so will be home solo. Not looking forward to it tbh.

Eastend2015 · 19/02/2016 13:30

Turi- I found travel sickness bands quite helpful for MS but didn't wear them continuously as they were too uncomfortable. Taking a bottle of water everywhere, sleeping lots and keeping an eye on my blood sugar also helped- I carried a few 10p bags of Haribo around for emergencies and even now don't go anywhere without some food stashed in my handbag. DH was a bit unsympathetic to start with but he soon loosened up when he realised me munching away was better than me moaning about feeling sick!

Turi1983 · 19/02/2016 13:50

Eastend2015 I feel like my blood circulation is being cut-off! Haribo is a good idea... I'm eating very two hours at the moment. Going to be the size of an elephant at this rate Blush

dobbythedoggy · 19/02/2016 15:23

turi sympathy to you struggling with the sickness. I was sick when pregnant with dd, but this time was a whole different board game; wasn't even head down the toilet it was head in a sick bowl. By week 7 I ended up begging the gp for meds; I was given a drug usually used to treat nad hayfever which took away the worst of the sickness. Have been sicky throughout, but was at a managable level to stop taking it when I got to 13 weeks.

Don't worry about what you're eatting, just do what you need to get you through. With dd I was stuffing my face with cherrios constantly, going through a big pack in a couple of days. This time mini babybels seem to take the edge of most sick feelings now I'm in the later stages.

I found sea bands really helpful both times, ended up wearing them constantly and having dents in my wrists when I eventually braved taking them off!. If you're finding them helpful it's well worth looking at the different makes as some do different sizes. I got a slightly larger size in lloyds pharmacy with the actual seaband brand, but have seen sized ones on amazon when I looked up pregnancy pops. I think lots of the generic ones you can get are aimed more at children with travel sickness so tend to be on the tighter side.

Congratulations to all those with positive scans.

And congratulations on you little girl paws, I know it's impossable not to worry but really hope the potential heart problem turns out to be nothing. A lady in the us on the march thread was told her baby had calcuim deposities on the heart at 17ish week mark. She was scaned again at 22 weeks and the problem had resloved itself.

Bump has started to engage now. Bh have steped up a gear and getting lower back ache on and off. Me and midwife are both hoping it might mean his thinking of making an apperance sooner rather than later.

Lucinda15 · 19/02/2016 15:45

Hello all - been a bit busy and haven't had a chance to properly catch up yet, but wanted to wish bowser huge congrats on lovely scan today!! Flowers
Hope everyone else ok.
I am 5.3 not really feeling any symptoms and getting nervous!! Know it's early days but some reassuring morning sickness or something wld be great (sorry turi I know u probably think I'm mad to wish for it! Hope u get some relief soon, heard acupuncture great for morning sickness...)

Lucinda15 · 19/02/2016 15:46

(So sorry I know lots is happening with everyone but I haven't had time to comment!! Sending everyone lots of hugs!!)

Turi1983 · 19/02/2016 15:48

dobbythedoggy thank you for your kind words. I will see if I can find some larger sickness bands.

I'm not actually being sick that often - which makes me feel bad for moaning! - but feel nauseous all the time. And my stomach is churning too.

I normally eat organic, lots of veg, healthy carbs like quinoa, wholegrain rice, etc., no gluten or refined sugar etc.

Right now, I just want white carbs, toast, cheese, crisps and chocolate! Proper stodge!

Lucinda15 · 19/02/2016 16:03

turi dnt feel bad for moaning....last pregnancy I had I was never sick but had awful awful nausea 24hrs a day. And I strangely had an insatiable hunger. So I was eating and feeling sick all the time. It just felt like torture. Bleurgh. I sympathise. I hope u get some relief soon x

Northernlight22 · 19/02/2016 16:10

My midwife yesterday told me in the first trimester it's most important to stay hydrated and just to eat whatever you can to get by. I'm pretty much living on toast at the min.

LynseyH5 · 19/02/2016 16:47

Hi all. Midwife has got me an appt at the epu for next Wednesday at 11.30. This time we will know for sure what's happening. Terrified now.

Turi1983 · 19/02/2016 17:02

LynseyH5 my heart goes out to you. This time of 'limbo' is just awful. We will keep you company and keep you strong.

Thanks everyone for your kind words... planning chips for dinner! Wink

Lucinda15 · 19/02/2016 17:26

Thinking of u lynsey I know these next few days are going to be long and hard for u. Sending a huge hug xx Flowers

LynseyH5 · 19/02/2016 17:38

Thank you! I feel better knowing what the next step is now, I just really hope everything will have turned around by then and baby has played catch up but I must admit I'm not confident x

chandelierswinging · 19/02/2016 18:06

Turi Anti-emetics= anti-sickness. My vomiting (and nausea) got so bad around 6/7 wks that I couldn't keep anything down, was dehydrated and becoming very poorly. My GP was amazeballs- I was close to hospital admission- and he gave me drugs that brought the voms/nausea down to a more manageable level. It didn't completely go (and I'm still vomiting once a day and nauseous, particularly when hungry) but it allowed me to function at least. I didn't have sickness that bad with either of my DCs or in the pgcy that ended in mc, so it was a huge shock! The best advice I can give you is to try to find what helps you, however random it might seem, and keep on with that until it no longer works and you need to find something else! I had a phase of tonic water, which turns my stomach now, and one of cloudy lemonade. I also found that carbs (crumpets, mash, bagels) were a saviour when I couldn't face "real food". I echo the small snacks regularly, and whatever fluid works for you, little and often. And, if you're struggling, seek support from an understanding GP. One drug worked for me for about 2/3 weeks but didn't touch me at the 10 week surge! I was then put on another drug, which did its' job but meant I was sat on a toilet rather than face in it for 24 hours so I stopped it and went back to the other one briefly. As I said, I'm still suffering, but it's more like when I had my youngest and is manageable, if a right pain in the arse!! little unpleasant. GP said to me it was a good sign for the pregnancy, which helped me through some dark days.

That was long! Blush

chandelierswinging · 19/02/2016 18:08

Lynsey Flowers Thinking of you. Lots of people have been through this on here (and elsewhere on MN), with different outcomes, so there's lots of sympathy and understanding for this awful limbo you face. Thinking of you and hoping for the very best for you.

chandelierswinging · 19/02/2016 18:10

Dobby Almost there! How exciting. Wishing you all the best for these last few weeks. Keep us posted!

Apols for the multiple posts... On my stupid phone!

sundayraspberry · 19/02/2016 18:36

I go AWOL for a few days and you've filled 4 pages!!

Congrats to all who've had positive scans, keys faries and bowser, made me smile to read about all these wriggly babes.

Hope the finish line is approaching dobby, you sound ready to get this show on the road! We'd welcome any other helpful tips for coping during 3rd trimester.

I also had a ' trace' of uti at 16 wks Sophia but midwife thinks the testing strips are unreliable and was happy to leave it at that seeing as I had no symptoms. I just drank plenty for a few days and couldn't see any trace when I tested urine again at work.

Also thinking of you lynsey. Have you a date for next scan? I only had to wait 5 days between mine when I mc'd and that was agonising enough xx

sundayraspberry · 19/02/2016 18:40

I should have my 20 wk scan in the next fortnight but can't make my original appointment so waiting next week to see where they can fit me in, just a bit stressed about rearranging it and also getting some pre- scan jitters! Can't feel any movement yet which I know is normal but can't help worrying a bit.

keys27 · 19/02/2016 19:08

Yay bowser I'm so happy for you I knew how anxious you was. The risk goes down so much now and your nearly hitting 12 weeks. Hope it's put your mind at ease a little.

lynsey hand holding with you Hun this must be such a difficult time for you. Hang in there Hun. All of us here have been through what your going through now and it's horrible. Hoping Wednesday comes round really quickly for you.

The sickness issue I can't really help with as I haven't really been sick however I always feel sick and the sweets it's an excellent idea. I have the strawberry mint chewing gum or I find soda water really helps. The only thing that don't make me feel sick to eat is noddles tuna mayo or. A salmon sandwich such a wired thing as it normally wouldn't even cross my kind.
Sick bands etc I don't have a clue about either. The mini haibos are a fab idea. I really hope it gets better for you soon. Just feeling sick I can't cope with let alone what some of you guys have been through and going through.

Oh wow sunday nearly 20 weeks nearly half way there :). Are you going to find the sex out? I keep thinking there going to tell me it's a boy now as they guessed so early. I never settle me I'm always finding something to think about lol.

chandelierswinging · 19/02/2016 21:46

Sunday I didn't feel any movement with my second until about 24 weeks. I was totally shocked because PFB had been walloping me since 15 weeks! Turns out that my placenta and baby's position (as well as scarring) had a lot to do with it.

Katy4111 · 19/02/2016 22:00

Hi all, got a doctors apt on Monday cause still need to be referred to midwife. Because my last pregnancy ended in mc will I be able to get an early scan? I'm 6+4 now. Thanks

LynseyH5 · 19/02/2016 23:02

Thank you keys and chandeliers. Your support through this has been lovely and much needed. There has been so many kind words sent my way from many different ladies. I feel like I've had a renewed sense of hope. No idea why I just hope I'm not setting myself up for a fall.
Sundayraspberry, I have my next scan sorted for 11.30 on Wednesday. I feel really hopeful but scared. Then as I'm typing I feel hopeful this awful sense of dread washed over me. I know that's cos I so want good news and the thought of bad is terrifying. I'll be in the same place as I was when I found out I'd had a blighted ovum so guessing that's not gonna help the nerves any!

LynseyH5 · 19/02/2016 23:04

Katy it depends where you are I think to how they treat you. My epu didn't want to know even though I'd had a mc before. They are finally letting me go in after some arm twisting from the midwife. Some areas have walk in epu clinics, others have to be by referral only. Talk to your gp or midwife and express any concerns you have x

keys27 · 20/02/2016 07:06

Sorry chandilier I read and run good luck for Monday Hun. I can't believe we're all hitting our 12 weeks. Looking forward to hearing your news wishing the weekend Anaya for you. Xxx

Hi katie congratulations on your pregnancy. If you explain to the doctor how anxious you are from your last experience there's a high chance there refer you for an early scan but every doctor is different I'm only going by my lovely gp. Hope you get to see LO soon and are reassured xxx
