Found out I'm pregnant yesterday but slight bleeding

I'm very happy with the news ☺️
Also confused and worried. I had what I thought was a period - started 31/1/16 and enough to wear a tampon for 2/3 days, mainly brown blood but tampon was soaked. I then started to bleed on Sunday night- red blood but small amount. Don't normally bleed between periods hence the pregnancy test yesterday. Rang 111 and saw my gp who took bloods yesterday and more bloods on Thursday to measure hcg levels. I'm so worried. Woke this morning and no more blood overnight, I have sickness and mild cramping.the period before the brown one started 5/1/16. Pregnancy test shows 1-2 weeks (but that's from conception).anyone else had this and all turns out ok?

You dont know for sure yet so there is nothing wrong with hoping. Xxx

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 12:46

Omg- levels have increased. From 78 to 136 since last Thursday. I'm happy but so confused

That's positive news. Still got fingers crossed for you xx

kirinm · 15/02/2016 12:53

Have they ruled out an ectopic? I know that sounds really negative but your levels aren't doubling. Did they say anything at all about it? Is the next step more bloods in a couple of days?

I ask these questions as someone who has had an ectopic.

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 13:17

Yes they have mentioned ectopic, I have no pain.. So have to wait.. Again.. Bloods on Wednesday morning.

Do they not check for an eptopic pregnancy in the ultrasound? Is your tummy pains low and to one side or is it just overall cramping? Im speaking as someone who has never experienced this myself bt my friemd sadly had one xx

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 13:28

I'm not sure if they can see on ultrasound? I don't have any pain at all

I think HCG levels need to be quite high to see anything on the ultrasound. With my ectopic pregnancy my levels didn't get higher than 300 but they also didn't go down. I ended up being treated by something called methotrexate which meant I didn't have to have surgery. I had no pain either.

Try not to worry, it'd they've mentioned it, that means it's at least in their minds so you're in the best hands possible. If you were to start experiencing a lot of pain obviously call them.

Lizzie1988 · 15/02/2016 13:51

That's really good news that they have increased!! Xx

What rollercoaster! Flowers

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 14:05

I'm still hopeful.. Trying to distract myself..

Spoke to my manager at work and had to be quite strong with her. I said I don't feel strong enough at the moment to be at work but will be back very soon. Said worried re more bleed. I'm more so worried about the stress my job brings.
I know she has sickness reports etc to worry about but she told me to wear a pad. I'm upset. Aibu?

LynseyH5 · 15/02/2016 15:35

That's a really heartless response and I can only imagine she's never experienced something like this herself. Would your doctor be willing to sign you off for a week? That way she can't hassle you and it gives you peace of mind that you can rest. I think being at a stressful job whilst your feeling as you do will only stress you further. Explain all this to the doctor and hopefully they will help xx

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 16:49

The thing is - she has been through it herself a long time ago.. Although older now and very passionate about her job and more so the stats? 😳 Not sure. I'm already planned to be off until next Monday after tomorrow.
On a positive note I still have symptoms. I want to feel hopeful but swing...

There would have been a time I would have gone. But something is holding me back- I know how stressed I felt last week at work.. Maternal instincts I think.

OP posts:
LynseyH5 · 15/02/2016 18:12

I know what you mean about wanting to be hopeful but keep swinging between emotions. I'm the same, the symptoms I had with the BO is what I've had this time so was straight out panic, now I've not had anything for 2 days so the hope is there...still got to wait til midday Wednesday!
I think your boss must have hardened herself up because to go through it and not show empathy for you is really sad. I think the time off will do you good, time out is needed unless of course you get to a stage where you'd rather stay busy.
Are you having another scan at all? Xx

RogerTheTodgerDodger · 15/02/2016 18:56

Bleeding doesn't always mean bad news. I had painless bleeds from 6 weeks to 25 weeks ranging from light brown spotting to horrendous flooding bleeds with fist sized clots, and baby was always fine! Scary as feck, but he continued to wriggle away in there! So, try and focus on the symptoms you have and on the increased hcg levels... Flowers

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 19:31

Thanks Lynsey and Roger.
I feel very pregnant still. Suddenly very tired too.
Your post reassures me Roger. I'm so scared.
Fingers crossed the hcg level rises again on Wednesday..

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 19:34

Lynsey. They said bloods on Wednesday- depending on outcome another scan next week

OP posts:
LynseyH5 · 15/02/2016 20:19

Both our appts are on Wednesday then, my scan and your bloods, fingers crossed for us both. Keep your head up xxx

RogerTheTodgerDodger · 15/02/2016 21:00

It's terrifying even if you have a normal pregnancy! Will be watching to see how you get on OP x

Applecrumbling · 15/02/2016 22:05

Yes fingers crossed Lynsey. Another day closer nearly.
I've analysed so much but nothing can change it. I was surprised my hcg levels had increased. I'm holding onto that and my symptoms. Feel alone- seen no one since this morning

OP posts:
LynseyH5 · 15/02/2016 22:25

That's not good, you need to have someone with you. Even if it's just an hour for a cuppa. Have you a friend to call? Being on your own will only give you more time to think and that's not always a good thing! I'm now holding onto the fact I've had no spotting for 2 days. 1 more day to get through... xx

Applecrumbling · 16/02/2016 08:11

Same here Lynsey. No spotting since the bleed on Friday- now Tuesday that's got to be good along with hcg levels rising and symptoms. One more day to get through. I'm taking my son out today 😀
How are you this morning?

OP posts:
LynseyH5 · 16/02/2016 08:26

Morning :-)
You sound much more positive today! I hope you have a lovely day with your son. I'm also taking my boys out, a 2, 3 and 10 year old. Must be mad! I dreamt about bleeding last night which was horrible, but in real life, still staying clear of any blood or spotting. Keep thinking this time tomorrow I'm going to be a nervous wreck because at 12, I'll find out our fate xx
