I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hello All.
I love Ealli's idea of a bathroom fully equipped for the HG sufferer! I certainly don't think the mini fridge would be too much. I'm thinking a small TV or tablet to watch loads of Netflix (for those who can manage screens), would be another good addition. I found Netflix on the IPad in bed in my darkest days a godsend.
Icant, so sorry that you've been admitted again. I truly think you have borne the pain and suffering with enviable stoicism and good humour. I so hope for a breakthrough for you. X
Spandau, how are you now? Hanging in there?
Cola, sorry to hear about recent bad days. As Lucinda says, once you've begun to have some good days it's generally a sign of more to come, even if these are interspersed with relapses.
Special, are you now recovered from your fall? Hope you aren't feeling too daunted by the upcoming move.
I continue much the same: tired and nauseous but generally not more than 1 vom a day, and sometimes I'm lucky enough to skip that too. Somebody at work yesterday said I was looking "bonny", and I've certainly got a pretty massive bump, so I guess I can't complain. Keeping on with one Ondansetron a day for now.
I hope Barmee, Reebok, Shoop, Madrigal, Peppa and everyone else are OK. I know it's not always easy to post, but always thinking of you all, and to my fellow 24/25 weekers (Reebok, Icant, Spandau), I keep on thinking of how far we've come.

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 20/01/2016 19:21

kayme and ruby so close now! I LOVE the verbal picture of your husband doing a Gandalf :) Aren't children such charming creatures ....

barmee how are you doing?

peppa eat and drink as much as you can now. Specially leafy greens if you can. Stores up the reserves for the coming weeks, and no harm done if it's not necessary.

special hope you're okay - best of luck for friday! goodness me what timing, moving house when you have HG. The private loo sounds rather cosy though, if a loo can be such a thing :) Regarding slipping and bumping your backside, as others have said I think it really has to be quite a hard bump to cause the possibility of trouble, unless your cervix is already seriously weakened (I think they call it incompetent cervix!)

amysmummy and racheljayne how's it going?

MoP it sounds like you're managing, even if it's not fun exactly. HG is a bastard for draining energy

Icant still hoping and wishing you strength and a lot of good luck ... and most of all, good hospital treatment! You're having such a time of it :(

spandau havent heard of a link with diabetes myself, but anecdotally there seems to be a disproportionate number of people with HG who are prone to migranes and / or cystitis... you've just had a UTI havent you! I love the idea of being able to feel the push of individual limbs ... both mine just wriggled and that was that.

cola glad the cyclizine is helping. If the sickness/vomitting does get worse, there are other, stronger meds but cyclizine is a good one.

BarmeeMarmee · 20/01/2016 19:32

Hi everyone. Thanks for asking after me - sorry I'm still not posting much. Struggling a lot at the moment. Finish work next week but wish I could have finished already! In a lot of pain with SPD and also getting tightenings etc. Midwife has told me to keep my legs together until 36 weeks, lol. Am 33 weeks tomorrow. Managed to go to work without any of my tablets today so feeling absolutely horrendous now. Have taken some ondansetron since getting home so hoping that will help soon.

Sorry so many are still suffering so badly. Icant I hope you manage to see everyone you need to somehow.

Reebok how are you doing today?

Cola and Special booking in appointment somehow made it a bit more real for me!

MoP can't believe you're 24/25 weeks now. Stupidly it seems to have flown-not that HG ever does!

Ruby, Amy, Spandau how are you all doing? And everyone else?

Waves to MotherHen and Ealli - hope little Ealli is giving you some rest!

amysmummy12345 · 20/01/2016 19:52

Hi all, sorry to hear all those who are suffering haven't had any respite 😞 thanks for asking once and barmee just trundling along at the minute. Still having episodes of nausea but vomiting had definitely taken a back seat! 20 weeks tomorrow! Come on ladies, we can do this!!

LucindaE · 20/01/2016 19:53

BarmeeMarmee 'Midwife has told me to keep my legs together until 36 weeks, lol. ' Ha, Ha, there's nothing like Hyperemesis for making one say, 'I've got a headache, darling' every night, anyway...

Reebok · 20/01/2016 20:06

Thanks for asking after me barmee. Haha! That comment made me smile!

I'm surviving. Hg is just a part of life now...the daily medication...the pukes...the nausea...I don't remember life without it in all honesty! DD actually reminds me to take my morning dose of meds...she's clearly use to having a sick mummy. I asked her for a cuddle yesterday At bedtime and she told me no mummy...your belly too big! What a charming 2 year old.

Still battling with the journey to work...counting down until my next midwife appointment so I can have a day off. 26 weeks on Friday! We have definitely come far MOP!

Spandau sorry to hear about the uti.
Special did you have a fall? So sorry to hear about that!

Icant you poor poor thing. I wish I could help you in some way.

Hope everyone else is doing ok or at least surviving....you have made it through another Hg day ladies. We can do this!! Love to all xx

Reebok · 20/01/2016 20:15

By your way, did two have her baby?

MotherofPearl · 20/01/2016 20:16

Reebok, your DD's comment made me smile, as did Ruby's DS! Walked my DD and her friend to school a few days ago. They're 7 and just starting to get embarrassed by parents. My DD said, 'Argh, mummy, your tummy is so big so can't even do your coat up', and her friend chimed in with 'yeah, and the way you try to make it close with that belt thing just makes it look like a DRESSING GOWN'! Confused

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 20/01/2016 20:38

two hasn't posted, so hopefully she's in the post-delivery haze of happy newborn, soreness and relief that she can eat again :)

reebok actually a few people have said that it's paradoxically helped to consider HG-life as the new normal and resign themselves to it for a few months. Then any gain is a positive.

BarmeeMarmee · 20/01/2016 20:43

Sorry just popping on again to ask a question that by now I really should know the answer to! The midwife said when I saw her on Monday that baby is very low down and has written in my notes 5/5 engaged. Does that mean fully engaged or not at all?

spandau1980 · 20/01/2016 21:03

Fully engaged .. which is good means heads in right place ect ect.. thing is don't mean baby ll come instantly but probably getting ready to how far are you 33 weeks ?? If anything happens now baby ll be small but healthy ...
I wouldn't worry though you ll probably become over due lol so the HG cam drag on a bit longer for you ;)
That ll be also why ur spd is really painful :(
Xx

spandau1980 · 20/01/2016 21:04

Oh and why ur getting the tightenings all perfectly as it should be barmee
..
Your doing great !

spandau1980 · 20/01/2016 21:11

Sound like a friggin midwife dont I. .. that's having 4 babies already for you ;)

I'm 25 weeks tomorrow MOP can't belive it but I'd love to be 35 weeks to be honest ...
Been a rough road and it's only gonna get tougher ...

Dd is being so good about us being stuck in more due to pelvic pressure .. spd back pain ect she deserves a medal too.. love her to pieces ..

Baby is kicking me like mad a s I type... she's a crazy baby lol... oh yes once a meer I can actually feel hands and feet towards end and push them out the way ect ... crazy :s

I can't I think hospital wull be your 1st home til baby arrives ... mega pants.. I had to do 3 weeks straight at end of twin preg as wasn't allowed to raise my blood pressure .. strict bed rest it was sooooooooo dull and that was 3 weeks ! How long have you done now you poor thing ??

I keep telling myself it ll all be worth it ... but it does take a till on your mental health this being ill malarkey

15 weeks to go ......... I remember itching to get to 15 weeks pregnant at 7 weeks preg when I first joined here !!!!

Hugs to all

Another 24 hours down

BarmeeMarmee · 20/01/2016 21:27

Thanks Spandau. I thought that was it then started to question myself. I'm sure you're right-bet I'll go overdue, lol!

eallison88 · 20/01/2016 21:29

spandau look how far you've come! I could feel limbs,it was lovely. My midwife even commented on the size of my baby's feet. I distinctly remember being relieved that they come last! And he does have massive feet; we've never had a problem keeping socks on!

I think glittersgold was the twin pregnancy. And someone is due on Aug 1st, maybe glittersgold?

barmee so close! Spd is so horrid, not what's needed when you've got hg to deal with as well. Carrier bag on cat seat was good for me,yes it made me look like I didn't trust my bladder, but it made swiveling to get out of yhe car easier!

reebok at least a big belly means your getting closer to evicting (lovingly) your littlest one!

Everyone, you've done another day; well done!

MadrigalElectromotive · 20/01/2016 21:35

Thanks for asking after me. I am struggling on - still suffering with daily voms and horrible nausea and trying to cope with being back at work on a phased return. Can't believe how tired I am!

Still, I'm over 21 weeks now, so over half way there, and it isn't as bad as it was in the early days.

Reebok · 21/01/2016 07:37

On way to work and baby gave such a big kick that you could see a limb..:made the woman next to me jump and I had to reassure her and say 'don't worry...it's just my baby moving...human I promise.' Baby seems to be pushing up to my ribs...aggravating lovely reflux. I honestly can't wait to stop working...I'm back to full time...5 days a week and it's killing me! 2 weeks and 4 and a half working days until half term...

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 21/01/2016 09:49

heh, human not elephant? :)

KOKO, though I truly have no idea how you manage it. Will of steel, you have

LucindaE · 21/01/2016 11:10

Reebok MotherofPearl spandau Ican't BarmeeMarmeeand all those battling on and still suffering to various degrees in the third tri, I am in awe of you all. MotherofPearl I hope no more first thing bile dashes, at least? Grin about LO's comments.
Reebok Lol about baby kicking another commuter out of the way! We haven't hear from TwoDrifters which I hope means that she is so busy and happy she has overlooked it. No doubt she'll be in touch in due course.
eallision Ah, yes, GoldGlitter with the twins. Ah, August.
Waves to Meerka and everyone.

Madrigal Oh dear, missed your post, and that doesn't sound good at all. Have they tried all meds on you, as that sounds so debilitating? It's so disappointing for people when this last on and on. I hope you are one of the twenty-two week people for Hyperemesis packing its bags, and leaving (save for residual heartburn, which few people seem to be able to avoid).

RubyReins · 21/01/2016 11:47

Hello all! Well I am a vision of pure loveliness... I have barely moved from my sofa in a week and have been dozing and spewing and groaning becomingly. Very crampy now and I have been sick in my hair. Cramps are I know a good sign and all being well the sprog will be here within the next fortnight. Have a hospital appointment later so I am bringing my best scary lawyer face so that I can better argue against the GD diagnosis (blood sugar levels are all under 4.8 irrespective of the time of day and on no medication so I am baffled). I deliberately gorged on white bread and cheap chocolate in a bid to test the diagnosis earlier in the week. Bad me but they pissed me right off last week.

DS (5) has been a hoot to be fair. He has assigned himself the very important job of ordering the "goodest" Chinese food for me when I come home from hospital with the baby. He has been writing menus Grin

DH staged a proper intervention over my work too - genuine Gandalf-ness. Got colleagues involved and everything. He is a teddy bear but old ladies cross the road to avoid him so he is capable of being a wee bit scary!

Sorry to see that there is still so much barfing going on but another day closer!

Happy thoughts (and other worthy supportive "you can do it" pish!) ladies!

LucindaE · 21/01/2016 11:53

RubyReins Much sympathy to one suffering until the end. I have never known how people keep their hair out of the way. Glad that you are coming up to your time, and OH has been supportive in the best way he knows...

OP posts:
RubyReins · 21/01/2016 17:27

OH has been fab as has DS. Back from hospital - GD not a concern but they are now worried about my god awful ketone levels. They have been at 4 for ages but whenever I raised it with the midwife or doctors I was told it was because I was sick... Hmm I was asked today in a somewhat accusing manner why I had never raised it before! I find these appointments so frustrating!

squeezed · 21/01/2016 18:00

Sorry to have a rant. Such an awful day at work travelling a fair distance to a really stressful meeting. Sitting in really uncomfortable chairs has aggravated my Spd. Didn't eat anything or drink much to reduce the liklihood of throwing up. Was treated with very rude disrespect by a witch of a woman, and because of her position there is nothing that can be done. Had to vomit before the meeting and afterwards. Now I'm at home in tears waiting for Dh and DD to come home so that I can have a cuddle. Why are people such arseholes!

eallison88 · 21/01/2016 18:11

ruby how frustrating for you to have consistently raised and issue for it to he ignored, then blamed for not raising it! I'm sure you have them short shrift! On the plus side they've let the GD go....!

squeezed that sounds like a positively horrid day. Sending positive thoughts your way - hope you get your cuddle soon!

My wee man had his 16 week (yes, he's that old already!) jabs yesterday and they've really affected him. Constant fever since, despite calpol, and he's crying, whingy, won't sleep properly, won't feed properly. Very exhausting for me, and he seems to be thoroughly miserable. It's this new Men B vaccine -tho I suppose feeling crap for a few days is better than Men B! My poor wee man :(
