4d scans look amazing!

geordiemacminx · 29/01/2007 11:39

Meant to say Vio, they have the glider chairs on a website called kiddicare which are supposed to be good for £99..

The only thing is a few people have said that they arent very good if you are planning to breast feed as the arms of the chair get in the way if that makes sense? Other than that though they are suppposed to be great, and lovely for getting the baby off to sleep.

geordiemacminx · 29/01/2007 11:40

Cant belive how much hair your little one has trixy.. very cute, hope mine has hair, as I was bald for months... and dp is almost bald now!!

BEGEMOTH · 29/01/2007 13:18

Hi all,

Just signed up to Mumsnet and came across this thread. I seem to be a bit late!

I just wanted to say to Tallullahbelle re your question about Maryhill, I'm at Woodside too. And the same thing happened to me. Seemed to be sent all over the shop.

Anyway I go to Maryhill now for the antenatal classes and midwife appointments and they've been really good. We got the hospital tour at the QMU as well and it's nice to see the same faces there and in the classes/apps.

weeonion · 29/01/2007 13:46

hi begemoth - welcome when are you due? how are you feeling and what hospital are you attending?? this is just me being inquisitive - nothing to do with this thread at all!! nice to have you here!

Loulee · 29/01/2007 15:52

Hi begemouth! i was just saying earlier I had the same problem a couple of years ago - things obviously haven't improved!

BEGEMOTH · 30/01/2007 09:27

Wee Onion: This will be my first baby. I'm due on 13 April and was initially booked in to Princess Royal but changed to Queen Mum's to be closer to home.
Things have been pretty much "as expected" (nauseous and mad for the first three/four months) but seem to be entering the breathless with hot flushes stage now. At least I'm hoping it's a stage.

A man actually offered me his seat on the bus this morning. I was so shocked I said no. I've felt outsized from about 12 weeks, it's obvious to me, but I must finally be looking pregnant to the outside world.

weeonion · 30/01/2007 10:14

hey begemoth - we are due around the same time - well - i'm on teh 18th april! Race you??????

geordiemacminx · 30/01/2007 10:40

You've been very quiet WO... everything ok?

How was your weekend?

BEGEMOTH · 30/01/2007 12:10

weeonion: the sooner the better at the moment! Is anyone else due in April?

Reading down the thread, Congratulations all you new mothers!

geordiemacminx · 30/01/2007 13:27

I'm due first of May

Vio · 30/01/2007 14:17

i am due 22nd Apr, PRM.

GMM-thanks, think i might get the chair from the website you mentioned.,.good price really.

leahsmum · 30/01/2007 15:48

I'm due 14 February. My dd's birthday is 22 April - nice time to have a baby. She was born in 2004 and the day of her birth was the start of the nice - if thats possible - weather. Got out most days with her in her pram. Oh getting so close now - cant wait to be out pushing my new Lo in my pram again with DD pushing her wee doll along in her pram beside me!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/01/2007 16:28

Thanks BEGEMOTH . I think I will ring Maryhill Centre and see if they will take me on. Thought continuity of care was the whole point of community midwifery teams so think it sucks that have this hassle at a time when have lots of other things on my mind and no energy to deal with life's little difficulties.

BEGEMOTH · 31/01/2007 09:56

Yup. I'm glad it's this side of the year rather than suffering the worst of the bump and hot flushes through the summer. As it is I'm turning all the radiators off at work when no-one's looking.

Tallulahbelle: I felt exactly the same when I was trying to sign up. Particularly because I'd just changed doctor's from the East-End to the West-End with all of the stuff to do for that. Just finding the surgery was a trial. I drove for half an hour back and forward, always seeing it in the distance from another direction, 15 minutes late for app. On the way back realised I really was five minutes away on foot... But once in the loop things got a lot better. There did seem to be so many appointments though. And some in the hospital, some at Maryhill and some back at Woodside. Have you got the blue book, it's proved invaluable in keeping me on the right track because my memory has gone out the window.

Have you had a home visit yet? Is that standard?

trixymalixy · 31/01/2007 10:28

GMM, Apparently I had that much hair when I was born too.

It's so cute, but takes forever to dry it after a bath. He needs a baby hairdryer .

It's so much fun styling it though!!

geordiemacminx · 31/01/2007 10:38

Just imagine all those spikey hair styles... god I am sooooo jealous!! I just know my little man is going to be as bald as a coot!!!

Loulee · 31/01/2007 13:56

begemoth / Tallulahbelle, I had home visits with both my pg's (the first was homebirth, so slightly different, but the 2nd wasn't). As far as i could work out, it depended on the midwife on duty - some found it more efficient to do home visits - and obviously preferred it. i thought the home visits were great - no hiking up to maryhill / woodside - and no hassle if anyone's running late!

I'm hoping i can wangle home visits this time too! - espically since i will be one of those slogging it through the (hopefully) long hot summer in the late stages of pregnancy
Though I'm pretty used to it as dd1 and dd2 were both born in august. Must be the time of year for it!

weeonion · 31/01/2007 15:20

blue book, home visits?? what are they??

had first NCT class last night - quite good but didnt really learn anything new that hadnt heard on here or read about. it was more amusing to see all the blokes reactions tho'!

BEGEMOTH · 31/01/2007 15:26

Loulee: Yes, I liked the home visit I had too. It was very relaxing.

Are you going to go for a home birth this time?

BEGEMOTH · 31/01/2007 15:30

LOL, yes, our midwife had the partners doing their pelvic floors and breathing. I thought they were all very brave!!

What does NCT stand for, I keep seeing it and don't know what it means?

Loulee · 31/01/2007 19:06

NCT = national childbirth trust. They are national (doh!) charity but have local offices all over the country. They arrange antenatal classes for preparing for labour etc - like the nhs classes and they also get groups of women together who've just had babies for tea groups etc. God, that's explained really badly, but hopefully you get the picture. I'm sure they do much more than that, but that's about as much as I know.
www.nct.org.uk/

They also do stuff like nearly new sales etc.

begemouth - no, an elective c- section rather than home birth unfortunately

wo - you mean you haven't got a blue book??!
