39 weeks... and I'm done! Anyone else due soon and fed up? Rants welcome

I can't sleep, I can't walk, I'm subsisting on a diet of bread and Gaviscon, I don't own a single item of clothing I feel comfortable in - absolutely nothing fits me. And if one more person asks me when the 'twins' are due, I'm going to punch them (I feel like screaming: THERE IS JUST ONE IN THERE, THIS IS WHAT BEING 9-MONTHS PREGNANT LOOKS LIKE!)

Everyone else I know who is pregnant seems to be sailing through the experience with smug looks and serene smiles and can't seem to understand what on earth I'm complaining about. There must be some more fed-up pregnant women out there? Anyone fancy joining in with my rant?

Congrats mrsleo, gorgeous name, love Edith! Hope all goes well in the next few days and weeks xx

Congratulations to all the new arrivals (and their mums!) I've been lurking but am now sufficiently advanced and fed up to chip in.

I'm only 37+6 (with my second), but due to "advanced maternal age" (I'm 41, FFS), my consultant has told me I WILL be induced at 40 weeks exactly, no ifs or buts. And I'd really rather not be induced! Midwife is planning to do a sweep just before christmas (38+5) and a week later (39+5) in the hope that gets things moving, but I've never heard of anyone having such early sweeps and it working.

DD1 (now nearly 4) arrived spontaneously a week early, so I'm hopeful this one will get her skates on, too, especially because we now have childcare for DD1 in place (granny down from scotland), plus DH is about to be on holiday for 2 weeks (followed by pat leave), so this would be a great time to think about showing up...

The weird thing is that a few days ago I felt like I could go into labour at any moment - massively uncomfortable, SPD meant I could barely walk, BH all the blooming time, weird twinges, reflux and terrible sleep. And then today, it all feels like it's receded. I can breathe again, I've got more energy, even the SPD seems to be a lot more manageable. I even found the energy to clean the understairs cupboard.

I really hope this is my body just taking a breather before the big push, rather than settling in for another few weeks of being a hotel...

DimlowChips · 17/12/2015 12:14

I'm going to join in now. 38+1 and can't sleep or move due to SPD, my husband has been sleeping on the sofa for weeks because of my snoring when I do manage to sleep and I'm feeling generally fed up Confused

I had really hoped DC1 would be here before Christmas but in really not seeing that happen now. I've also started getting texts from random people asking how I'm 'getting on'

Congratulations mrsl
Still pregnant. Midwife attempted a sweep yesterday but couldn't get far enough up the cervix but gave it a little stretch anyway. Have another sweep booked on Monday. Fingers crossed that one works x

DJ, I hear you. I was like that for weeks too, on and off, even went to hospital with suspected membrane rupture, turned out I was just particularly disgustingly oozy that day. I was classed at advanced maternal age as well, and I was 35 when I conceived... Really think they should base that on a genetic age not a chronological age. I still get ID'd!

Well done MrsL! Also love that name. Have lots of snuggles with your bubba and be waited on xxx

Hi ladies. Congratulations on all the new babies. I'm 37+2 today and I'm booked to have an ELCS at 38 weeks because we are having boy/girl twins. So just 5 days but it feels like an eternity.

I haven't had a show nor have I had any real sign of labour starting. I'm so fed up. I can feel my skin stretching to breaking point and my feet are constantly swollen. I have no appetite and when I do eat, I feel sick. I can't sleep because as the consultant charmingly informed me, my uterus is pushing against my ribs and it is worse when I'm lying down.

SweepTheHalls · 18/12/2015 13:52

Finally finished for maternity leave, 38.5 weeks and oh so ready for slowling down!

Lillylou1991 · 18/12/2015 21:34

bluishskies that rib pain was the worst! Really got me in the end when all i wanted to do was lay down or lean on DH for a cuddle and i couldnt cos of the pain. But i cant believe im saying this but... all forgotten about the second i got my first cuddle!
strawberry how you doing with your lovely little boys?

strawberryandaflake · 18/12/2015 22:01

My little boys are totally delicious. Hard work but they are getting the routine now son it's getting better. They still have the personalities they had in the womb, one a wriggler, the other a sleeper.

My tummy has gone down loads and still no stretch marks so I am chuffed about that. Still a bit sore from the stitches but it's not that bad. How's Jam doing?

Persephone76 · 21/12/2015 08:49

I finally had my baby girl on Saturday morning, 7 days late. All happened v quickly in the end, woke at 2 with a twinge, which had happened all week, but couldn't get back to sleep. It all ramped up v quickly, got to hospital at 5 and was 9cm. Had her at 6.45am! She's a big girl - 9lb 8oz!

FellOutOfBedTwice · 21/12/2015 09:04

If it's any consolation my daughter was born at 39+4 so you might get lucky and it will be out soon.

bluishskies · 21/12/2015 09:24

Congratulations Persephone!!

I woke up at 3 am with the most intense crotch pain I've ever experienced. Couldn't roll over and sitting up makes it so much worse. So I'm lounging in the bath for the time being until I feel brave enough to try to get dressed.

These babies have 2 more days until eviction day and I highly doubt they will come before that. So I need to grin and bare it.
