I can't sleep, I can't walk, I'm subsisting on a diet of bread and Gaviscon, I don't own a single item of clothing I feel comfortable in - absolutely nothing fits me. And if one more person asks me when the 'twins' are due, I'm going to punch them (I feel like screaming: THERE IS JUST ONE IN THERE, THIS IS WHAT BEING 9-MONTHS PREGNANT LOOKS LIKE!)

Everyone else I know who is pregnant seems to be sailing through the experience with smug looks and serene smiles and can't seem to understand what on earth I'm complaining about. There must be some more fed-up pregnant women out there? Anyone fancy joining in with my rant?

Something gave me a start earlier today. I had been wondering if all my pelvic floor exercises were working - I now know that they are. Thank God and all his angels.

jamtartandcustard · 08/12/2015 18:55

Ah well you never know, with my last after I had an internal the contractions became so much more intense. Bit either way it sounds as if your baby will be here hopefully by breakfast tomorrow.
My Braxton hicks are still ongoing and becoming more regular but no more intense. I don't think I'm anywhere near giving birth get but I think my body is getting ready. I am aware it can still be another week or so. But at least the end is in sight and hopefully baby will be here before Christmas Day Xmas Grin

Wishful80smontage · 08/12/2015 19:07

By breakfast tomorrow
That would be awesome if so but think it might be longer I'm uncomfortable to its not got to really painful yet.
A much more pressing matter for me is the lady in the next cubicle's dp who has been doing the most grim noisest burps and farts all afternoon its really getting on my last nerve now! I'm going to have to say something if he doesn't shove a cork in both/either end soon!

jamtartandcustard · 08/12/2015 19:13

Well it obviously depends what time you have breakfast Wink
Oh dear she sounds delightful! Oh you've just reminded me of why I've been pushing for a homebirth - no mixed wards. Surely visiting hours are up soon and he can bigger off home? Men are such delightful creatures

Wishful80smontage · 08/12/2015 19:21

Not until 9pm! There was a fart from the cubicle across not long ago- if this turning into some kind of competition I'll be going home!

strawberryandaflake · 08/12/2015 19:47

Hahaaha Wishful! That will probably be me soon. I seem to have lost the ability to control my tummy noises. I woke the OH up last night with a noisy trump and he blamed the dog. That made me laugh so much I woke him up again with the giggles. He must think I have lost it.

Wishful80smontage · 08/12/2015 22:18

It was semi amusing earlier at this point I give in :( the husbands have not been booted out yet the midwife keeps coming to nag me to go to sleep?! I'm in pain and its stupidly noisy in here not much threat of sleep anytime soon:(

MaisieDotes · 09/12/2015 02:18

How are you doing wishful?

Hope you're ok and are getting some sleep.

justanothermummy2b · 09/12/2015 04:22

Really hoping things have progressed for you wishful! And that you've been moved to a delivery suite at least, early labouring on a ward was not my favourite bit of the induction process the first time around! Hope you aren't there for long!
Been up all night with a poorly DS who is reaching some pretty impressive temperatures, so needless to say when I finally managed to get to sleep about an hour ago I was woken up some blindingly agonising contractions. So far this has resulted in DH and I having a blazing row because he doesn't grasp the fact that DS needs to go to the doctor today - temperatures of 40C means he has more than just a cold and we can't just drop him off at nursery until a family member can get him this afternoon like we planned because he is sick...
After telling me I'm 'being hysterical' and 'everything will be fine' he's gone back to bed! Angry
So I'll just go into labour by myself here then! Someone remind me why we need any men at all? I'm tempted to take myself off to hospital and see if they won't let me wallow in a birthing pool somewhere and let him wonder where the hell I am when he wakes up... Although the fact I am on the birthing ball thinking I deserve sainthood for putting up with this probably means this is yet another false alarm!

jamtartandcustard · 09/12/2015 05:23

40c???? Eeek phone 111 and see if you can get an ooh appointment. It could just be a cold he's coming down with but that high could cause a fit so he should be checked out

justanothermummy2b · 09/12/2015 07:06

Thanks jam we've managed to get it down to 38 (thank goodness for calpol!). Still super high but our GP is usually really good with same day appts so I'm going to phone and see if they won't give me one this morning ASAP - especially as it looks like I am in actual early labour... Brilliant timing eh?!

mrsleomcgary · 09/12/2015 07:41

All going on today eh justanother? Good luck today, keep us updated with everything.

Hope things have progressed wishful, even if it was just farting husbands being kicked out!

Nothing happening here beyond waking at 6am after a dream I was in labour, even that wasnt sumple and I had been stuck at 6cm for 24hrs Angry. My nana, who is 86,was admitted to hospital yesterday, shes had diarrhoea and stomach pains since the weekend and wouldnt tell anyone because 'if mrsleomcgary goes into labour her mum will need to take dd1,and I dont want to cause a problem with that'. Eventually my papa,92,phoned me to let me know when she was in the bathroom and couldnt stop him! OOH dr came round and sent her to hospital to stop the diarrhoea, avoid dehydration and check her liver function. Shes of the generation that panics shes going to 'make a nuiscence' and actually makes herself worse! 3rd hospital admission in a year that could have been avoided if she had 'made a nuiscence'. Today will be spent trying to organise care for my papa who really cant be home alone.

jamtartandcustard · 09/12/2015 07:54

Oh bless you mrsl, I hope your nana recovers quickly.
How you getting in wishful
Good luck justanother. Yes babies have the best timing don't they?
Well I woke up really hungry so had breakfast and immediately brought it all back up. I wasn't even feeling queasy. And I've just had a bout of Diahorrea. Trying to work out if my body is clearing itself out or I have a bug. Have the midwife this morning so hopefully ar can give me a bit more of an idea of what's happening

Lillylou1991 · 09/12/2015 10:22

Hows it hoing wishful?
I hope everything is ok with your nana mrsl
justanother what timming! How you doing?

Im not 100% what to do here. My midwife is a big believer in trusting your instint and has been a total saint to me.
I had a very traumatic stillbirth at 36 weeks in 2013 and was told due to complications that ttc again was going to be a miracle so this little guy is our utter miracle.
Overall the pregnancy hasnt been too bad but yesterday and today ive just not felt right at all (a banging headache i cant get rid of. Dizziness and my face and feet swelled up something chronic last night) and i dont know if i should call the triage and get checked because my midwife is off having an operation otherwise id go see her.
Ive just got this overwhelming feeling that hes not longer safe where he is and needs to be safe with me and dh... but at the same time i dont wanna just turn up at triage in distress and annoy everyone :(

justanothermummy2b · 09/12/2015 10:43

Oh lilly if you are at all concerned get it checked out. In the month leading to DS's birth I went to the hospital twice for checks because I was worried and even though it turned out to be nothing the midwives told me that I'd done the right thing by going in, they'd always rather check and be safe. Given your history I'm certain you wouldn't be annoying anyone and feeling reassured that everything is actually ok will be worth it! If your midwife isn't there is there a team you can call for some advice instead?

After getting to contractions 5 min apart for an hour everything has now stalled here. I've just got backache and continuous period-type pain going on. DH took the day off to take DS to the doctor so is now officially on paternity leave and I'm feeling like a massive failure because I'm not in a delivery ward somewhere yelling my head off. This is all very frustrating!

jam hope you are having better luck

mrsleo I really hope your nana makes a quick recovery and your day isn't too stressful x

strawberryandaflake · 09/12/2015 10:45

Yes, call them. Could be a pre-ec symptom and tell them you need to be monitored. Don't take no for an answer. Xxx

Aah mrsl, sorry to hear that. I had both nanas in hospital over last Christmas. Different hospitals. Neither wanted to be there and kept trying to escape by pretending they were fine. Hope it all pans out. Xx

jamtartandcustard · 09/12/2015 11:48

oh lilly def go get checked out. they certainly wont mind with your history anyway.
well baby isn't engaged yet but with it being #4 that might not happen till i'm in established labour anyway but still..... bummer.
niggly back ache has returned and also non-regular bh's but midwife said its all perfectly normal in the final few weeks.
on the plus side though, I have a sweep booked in for next Wednesday. that was what kick started my last 2 babies so fingers crossed baby will be here by the end of next week regardless. I can get excited now!

Wishful80smontage · 09/12/2015 12:11

Hope everyone's doing ok?

Baby Henry arrived this morning :) I'm done it but it was actually ok pain wise

Lillylou1991 · 09/12/2015 12:31

Congratulations wishful !!!!!!! Flowers FlowersFlowers
Enjoy that magical toast, tea and cuddles!

justanothermummy2b · 09/12/2015 12:39

Hurrah wishful!!! That is excellent news Grin congratulations!!!
Hope you and baby Henry are doing well Flowers

I just found a great leaflet on dealing with latent labour (and what the signs are) it made me feel so much better about the stop/start contractions and the fact that although nothing seems to be happening, something is going on!

Congrats wishful

Ok,so one one of two things has happened; I've either peed myself or had a gush of waters,no idea which! Had a thinner than usual discharge all morning, went for a shower to clean up and put in a pad to see what was going on and something came out while showering! No idea where it came from because I was standing under the water, and couldnt smell anything other than my shower gel!? No pains or a show this morning, movements all normal. I need to phone the midwife and run the risk of admitting I peed myself dont i?

Didnt feel like I needed to pee either but I admit i've been lax with my pelvic floor...

jamtartandcustard · 09/12/2015 13:53

congratulations wishful and welcome to the world Henry.
ooo mrsl only one way to find out, give them a call! I know its embarrassing, I had the same with dc2, I had had a sweep earlier in the day, in the evening I had a bath and as I stood up something happened. I cant say what, there seemed to be a gush but it could have been the build up of water behind me (I was quite big and just fitted in the bath). but then i'd have a bath everyday and it had never happened before. contractions started early hours of the next morning. however my waters hadn't gone and were still in tact so I remember having that argument with the midwives who were telling me i'd just peed myself (unlikely, my pelvic floor is actually rather good). maybe it was hind waters, I don't know. all I know was it was something.

jamtartandcustard · 09/12/2015 13:58

ive just read that leaflet justanother. I think that's what is happening here too. though I greatly dislike the way its says the latent phase can last for several days or weeks Sad oh well it will come around soon enough i'm sure

Lillylou1991 · 09/12/2015 16:21

I took your advice lovely ladies, thank you for the push! I went in for reassurance, had a good cry to a lovely midwife who looked about 12 years old. She actually listened to my anxieties and got a doctor who gave me a sweep (ouch Blush ) and has me booked in for an induction tomorrow morning!!! Im now unpacking and repacking my hospital bag in an utter panic!!

strawberryandaflake · 09/12/2015 16:44

Well done wishful! Grin

Mrsl I went to ADAU two weeks ago after I woke up in a puddle. Totally embarrassed when it turned out to be an extra large gush of discharge, not my waters. Wear a pad and give your midwife a ring to test it. Totally gross but better safe.

Just replacing my bag as also being induced in the morning. Going to nip out to tesco to get some cheap loose trousers and bits. I was planning on wearing some yucky nighties and summer dresses as it was so warm but it seems to have turned a bit here. I need to get the OH off the computer and come with me. Sharpening my pointy stick...
