Harmony booked for Thursday coming. Does anyone know if it's safe to get the baby scanned twice in one week? Have nhs scan Tuesday the following week, maybe it would be better to put this off for a couple of weeks?

Hi Sheera, I'm not sure but my neighbour is a nurse who used to scan her tummy every week to check her babies were ok - she has 3 beautiful kids, so assume it's fine. You could call the private clinic and ask? Or postpone it for a week or so, guess you don't need the same week scanned...

brooke CONGRATS!!! I'm so glad to hear you had tour little one, even if it does sound somewhat daunting! Hope you're all settling in really well now at home as a family

cloud she is adorable! What a gorgeous girl! She looks so happy and content, can't believe you've been through the reflux hell with her Flowers

Welcome new posters, I hope that your first trimester pans out to be gentle and uneventful!

CityMole · 25/04/2016 17:34

Sheera, you will be absolutely fine with two scans close together, try not to worry, and definitely do not postpone your nhs scan Smile

So, ME. I am due very shortly, but unless baby moves out of its transverse lie, then I'm going be sectioned in the next few days. I'm just working out which day works best for us/ hospital, but it will be Thursday latest. Very exciting!

EagleRay · 25/04/2016 18:10

CityMole been wondering today how you're doing! So 3 days more at the most! Shock

I'm having ELCS a week tomorrow. House still a building site and mobility/energy at an almost standstill.

Waves to everyone else

Sheera41 · 26/04/2016 10:52

Thanks City mole and best of luck for this week, very exciting!

shabbychic1 · 26/04/2016 11:01

Hi all, I had to change my name, I used to be KafeeundKuchen :)
I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and i'm really excited! The hospital says I can find out if I'm expecting a boy or a girl, it makes it seem even more real! Half way through and it seems that 20 weeks to wait is SUCH a ling time, but looking back at people' s posts at 5, 6 , 7 weeks it actually seems to have flown by!
I'll let you know what the results are tomorrow :)

anutteridiot we're bmi twins lol! I'm so glad morning sickness went about week 15 for me, didn't throw up too much but felt nauseous so much, it's not fun! I set out with good intentions of being uber healthy but found chips and sandwiches and basically bad carbs were my life saver.

Sheera41 · 27/04/2016 11:48

Anyone know what is means to be constantly craving salty foods?? I could almost eat the salt on its own, it's getting out of hand. I googled it and all that came up was I was expecting a boy, which seemed a bit random! I have never had a massive sweet tooth but now I've lost it completely, and healthy salty foods out there? Smile

Sheera41 · 27/04/2016 11:49

Meant to say are there healthy salty foods out there? Can 't imagine answer is yes though!

shabbychic1 · 27/04/2016 12:14

Just had 20 week scan- he's a boy! So excited and in love already! Smile all happy and healthy, my bp is borderline so consultant (who's lovely) says to try not to get stressed. I'll try. Had an anxious sleepless night last night and now I'm so relieved, joyful and tired and excited all at once!

Sheera41 · 27/04/2016 14:34

Congratulations shabby chic, boys are fab! I have 2 already! You can relax and enjoy your pregnancy knowing all is wellSmile

Dixxie · 27/04/2016 15:11

Congratulations Shabbychic! You can start thinking of baby names now...

mayhew · 27/04/2016 15:33

Regarding low dose aspirin. It is recommended from 12 weeks for all over 40 expecting first baby. Unless there is a good medical reason not to. You can buy it over the counter. The expectation is that it reduces the risk of high BP small baby and pre eclampsia.

EagleRay · 27/04/2016 16:37

Re aspirin - it was never mentioned in first pregnancy (I was 41) but recommended in second (at 44). I found the bleeding at a drop of a hat and daily nosebleeds a nightmare though so came off it again.

Meanwhile, DD has come down with chickenpox - just what we needed with birth looming Hmm

Dixxie · 27/04/2016 16:54

Sorry to hear about the chicken pox, hope all is well Eagleray. Thanks both for sharing about the aspirin. Were you all to to take it at 12 weeks, or some of you before? Is it recommended in the NHS? Trying to see an obstetrician early to get advice...

leotwist · 27/04/2016 17:30

Hi all! Wonderful to hear such positive attitudes about older pregnancies and I want to be the same way. It's early days for me yet but, after successful egg donation & IVF in USA, we heard last week that I'm actually pregnant (6 weeks).

Tell me, do people on here ever get asked their age outright? If so, how do you respond? Generally, I try not to care too much about what other people think; however, I'm now 50 Shock, which is pretty unusual for a pregnancy. I'm not ashamed (whether of having previous miscarriages, IVF or using a donor egg), but I've already had some shocked reactions and the odd dubious comment.

Unfortunately, even mentioning my age tends to warrant having to explain further but, pioneering though it may be, I don't necessarily want my pregnancy to be reduced to Me-The-50+ Egg-Recipient Champion. Apparently, I only look 40-45 so, despite hating the idea of 'hiding' anything, I'm already considering fibbing by a few years from the start, just for a quiet life... Any thoughts?
