Hi there... I've been lurking but reading.

43 and 22w with DC3 (DD is 6 and DS is 4). I started the pregnancy with a BMI of nearly 36, and now down (in spite of pregnancy) to 34. Still going down, although the bump is growing. I'm thoroughly sick of feeling sick though. (The doctor is not worried - I've got enough fat to keep me going.)

I'm just tired tired tired and worried (which I assume is pretty normal). Full time job, two demanding kids (today is the last day of school holiday, YAY). We moved house at the start of February, and there is still loads of work that we need to do. On Good Friday my DP was hijacked while using my car (fun living in Jhb). He was ok, and the car was recovered, but there is a mass of admin to get through (insurance, making sure the 'stolen' code gets de-registered from the police system. I don't feel like getting arrested for driving my own car... I couldn't get a 20 week scan, so I'm not sure if everything is OK with the pregnancy. I have a scan two weeks from now, so I'll get the normal developmental stuff, but not the special insight into all the other organ-related stuff.

I'm generally positive, but at this stage I would like to hide away, and get an army of people to pamper me.

CityMole · 04/04/2016 10:30

notsoold hello, we see you!
AnUtterIdiot welcome! try to relax- once these initial horrid worrying weeks are your under your belt (which will be in no time at all) you'll feel much better

Marquand that sounds incredibly stressful! What is healthcare like out there- can you get a private anomaly scan to put your mind at rest? Just remind yourself that the odds are massively stacked against anything being wrong, and the vast likelihood is that everything is fine! Not only is this true, but it is pragmatic thinking- no point worrying over what you cant change, I guess, pet! Flowers

I have a growth scan later this week. I'm 36 weeks and I've not actually seen my midwife in 4 weeks- is that normal? I feel like they've forgotten an appointment or something, but maybe not! Baby's movements have changed in the last week. I can tell he has less wriggle room, but MY GOD when he kicks, he KICKS. Despite thinking that I have vice-like kegels, I pissed myself the other day, which was great fun.

Another two weeks of work left, and hopefully I'm on course to get everything finished up in time project-wise, so that I can relax and enjoy a bit of time off.

Do we not have some people on this thread due to graduate in a week or two?

And how are the recent babies doing? We need some updates!

brookeberry · 06/04/2016 10:58

It's induction day today! I think I've been lucky that the pregnancy has been stress free and I've been fairly calm, but now . . . . starting to feel just a little nervous. It's such a lot to take in. Never had a baby before, never been in a hospital bed before . . . The appointment is at 2pm and I wish I was there, the waiting is making me jumpy.

Hope everyone is doing well and welcome to the newbies Smile

Marquand · 06/04/2016 11:25

Good luck brooke! This is just the beginning of a very exciting journey.

CityMole · 06/04/2016 11:46

Blooming69 · 06/04/2016 22:02

Hello! Congrats to all the new graduates, I hope you all have happy & healthy pregnancies. Brooke, a great big squeeze for you - it'd been a long time coming, sweet lady, and your baby is almost in your arms. Good luck Thanks

Here is my little boy, Ezra, born 10 weeks ago. We are slowly growing out of reflux (horrendous) and the memories of my pain-wracked, torturous pregnancy (SPD, crutches, excruciating vaginal varicose veins) are fading fast.....yep! you guessed it...I'm already broody for another 🔫

eagle looking good for a coming baby!!!!

EagleRay · 09/04/2016 13:10

Hoping Brooke is ok and will be back soon with good news..

36w yesterday but had MW appt and measuring 38w. Crapping myself as building work nowhere near finished but have managed to buy a cot.

Today's mission: hospital wear which isn't made of a hideous fabric or costing a fortune!

rider1975 · 10/04/2016 14:07

Just wanted to say hi in this thread. I'm 3+2 weeks so just missed my period on Monday. I miscarried 18 months ago and have no other children. I'm 41 now and extremely paranoid that I'll lose this one. I know you shouldn't think negative thoughts but the fear of going through the grief again is terrifying. I have all my fingers and toes crossed. I had some weird pain in right ovary area esp on sneezing when it became sharp. Not a pain generally but an awareness and discomfort. Seems to come and go. Does anyone know what the earliest available scan on nhs might be? I had my fertility tested in August 2015 which came in rather low but the scan also showed a "shadow" in my uterus. It was never resolved at the time. Thanks for any advice.

Ellie2015 · 10/04/2016 20:23

Hi Rider congratulations. I have been in ur position multiple times so I can feel your pain and anxiety at this time. Most likely, from what you have described, it appears that your pain may be due to 'corpus luteum'. Some times the round ligament also gets stretched esp when u r sneezing and can give you such pain. None of them are abnormal. I wouldnt worry unless u start getting excruciating pain or bleed or feel unwell with it.

The earliest scans in NHS generally starts from 6+ weeks but sometimes they do do a day or two earlier due to anxiety factor or to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

I hope everyhing goes well with you this time.

Brooke i logged in today to mumsnet only to see your BA. I have read some previous posts and I know u were induced couple of days ago. Hope u and baby are fine. Pls do drop in a line to keep our mind at rest. Thinking about u and wishing the best xxx

City how are u? U mus hv reached 'term' this week. Lol that was funny re pee'ing! Hope ur midwife appt went well.

Greatergood such a lovely bump! Hope you sorted out ur mat leaves.

Blooming Ezra is soooo gorgeous! Lucky you!! Already set for another one?!! ;)

Wishing best for everyone xx

rider1975 · 13/04/2016 23:04

Small update here - I went to an NHS walk in centre because of the lower ab pain who sent me to an Early Pregnancy Unit who did a trans-vaginal scan. Everything as it should be for 5+ weeks. The scan was done on the NHS. They have asked me to come back in 2 weeks for another scan given my previous MC. There was no reason for the pain - all pelvic region was fine save for a fibroid - apparently very common - they said pain is pretty normal unless sharp.

Dixxie · 14/04/2016 08:52

Hi everyone, joining up as I got a BFP on 43 birthday! Only about 5 weeks pregnant, lots of symptoms (swollen belly, sore boobs, heartaches, dizzy & insomnia last night). Feeling v anxious about getting to 12 weeks, even considering finding a private doctor (my NHS Gynae was lovely but literally retired yesterday, first one to treat me with respect and be so positive about my chances, I have just had tubes flushed). Any tips? I'm caffeine and booze free, eating lots of fruit and veg and trying to sleep lots...

TheGreaterGood · 14/04/2016 09:53

Morning all,
All well here - 27 weeks today! Mat leave all sorted with holiday added at the start and end. Last day 22nd June and am already counting down. Got a new MD (who I'll be reporting into) starting on June 1st so a bit concerned that I won't have the chance to impress him/get to know him before heading off and that might not stand me in good stead on my return especially if I want to talk about flexi/part time. Otherwise am kind of already counting down.

Hi rider - glad all is looking good for you. I also have miscarriages before this pregnancy...the early days are tough but I found early scans very reassuring so glad you've got another booked. Take it easy.

Dixxie - congratulations! What a lovely birthday pressie. Ah, the waiting...the days seem soooo long don't they? I'd say that if you're anxious and can afford it (£50-80) it's worth shelling out for a private scan at around 8 weeks (when you're likely to get the reassurance of seeing a heartbeat and knowing that the chances of MC after that are very low). Otherwise, sit tight, don't panic (says queen of all the panickers) and try and do stuff to distract yourself from the wait.

Grizzer - Declan is adorabe - so smiley and cute! Cannot wait to meet our boy now.

Kafee - I've been afflicted by the dreaded heartburn for the last few weeks too - horrible isn't it? I take 2 rennie about an hour after every meal and at bedtime which seems to help...although I sometime munch them in the middle of the night too. Not sleeping well between weeing, heartburn and the baby having a good rummage around at 3am!

Eagle - not long now then!? Think you might be early? I think I'm measuring a bit big too - is it anything to be concerned about do you think? Really hope the building work gets sorted soon...and if you find hospital wear that fits the bill, please let me know!

Sending everyone positive thoughts and happiness. x

EagleRay · 14/04/2016 11:02

GreaterGood early delivery prospect terrifies me as everything still in chaos. Baby is expected to be big, given scans and family history (DD was nearly 9lb and 11lb-ers common in my family).

Re nightwear, have ended up buying odds and sods off eBay - one dressing gown and 2 nighties. All Mothercare/Blooming Marvellous brands. They've got some reasonable deals on the MC website too, inc robe/nightdress sets. All 100% cotton too - v important as hospitals are HOT.

Will need nighties initially due to catheter but got some maternity yoga pants too.

Re pants - got 2 sets from Primark - lovely high waister in cotton/ Lycra and another set in some sort of sporty fabric - they were c comfy last time as the stretchier they are the more they cling rather than cut in!
