God I'm so sorry I was so excited to find this thread that I rushed into mark my place without reading the last page. So sorry for the heartbreaking things that are happening. I feel very insensitive. X

Grizzer · 11/03/2016 20:58

Don't feel bad Kafe, we do have lots of positive stories on here as well as some heartache. You have every right to feel excited. Good luck on Monday.

Kafeeundkuchen · 11/03/2016 21:07

Thanks Grizzer, just read about Declan he's gorgeous! Congratulations!! X

notfromstepford · 12/03/2016 03:29

So sorry to hear fragile and ooharm . Thinking of you ellie and glad to hear you're getting better mrslebon

Well Alfie arrived on Tuesday afternoon weighing 5lb 10oz which was bigger than they thought and I was back home Thursday.
I lost a litre of blood and had v low blood pressure but seems to be sorting itself out now. All went well and doing well after elcs although hurts like a bastard when I laugh or cough!
Alfie was born with teeth coming through which was a shock and is making breastfeeding pretty painful when he decides to use my nipples as a teething aide - ouch!
Hope the attached pic works. Will catch up on the thread next week. Take care ladies x

Ahh Notfrom, I can rest easy now! I was starting to worry. Beautiful boy, congratulations. Teeth?????? Ouch! Xx

brookeberry · 12/03/2016 11:22

notfrom he's absolutely gorgeous, congratulations!! I love the name Alfie.

Welcome kafe Smile There has been bad news this week, but there are lots of positive things happening too. Congrats! I'm sure you will be treated well. I'm 42 with DC1 and I've been treated extremely well. I'm 35 weeks now (how did that happen?!) The dating scan is such a milestone - I wept!

Hope everyone is doing okay Flowers

mrslebon · 12/03/2016 13:14

Congrats notfrom - Alfie is gorgeous! Know what you mean about coughing or laughing with a scar, not to mention having a poo!

Kafeeundkuchen · 14/03/2016 09:19

An hour til my dating scan. I was really excited last week but this morning I'm really nervous- tmi but I keep having a nervous tummy which is no good for keeping a full bladder! I had a dream about the scan last night and the lady said everything was good- hope it's a good omen! 😁

brookeberry · 14/03/2016 11:29

So normal to be nervous kafe Let us know how you got on!

Oldbird41 · 14/03/2016 11:49

Is this thread still going on? I'm
41, just found out I'm
5 weeks pregnant. I already have 2 children (8 and 6 ) eldest has special needs. Pregnancy not planned and now terrified of chromosome problems. Stupidly read all the posts on here and now in tears over one lady's result. If this pregnancy has problems we will not be able to cope with two disabled children, crossing everything and praying ( not even very religious ) x

Sheera41 · 14/03/2016 12:05

Good luck Kafe, I was originally old bird, keep changing my user name, not been on mumsnet for years!

Kafeeundkuchen · 14/03/2016 13:48

Thanks Brookeberry, Hi Sheera, congratulations!

My scan was really good (apart from thinking my bladder would burst lol!). 2 arms, 2 legs a lovely heartbeat and Nuchal translucency of 1.6 which my consultant says is good and well in normal. So relieved! Baby moved about, opened its mouth and 'waved!'. Aw it's made it very real. Also they moved my due date to 16th Sept so I'm now officially 13 +3. DP thinks we're team blue and I think we're team pink. Tbh I am just happy to be having a healthy strong baby! 😊😊😊

Kafeeundkuchen · 14/03/2016 14:32

Thanks Brookeberry, hi Sheera!

Everything went really well, the scan shows that baby is happy and healthy and my consultant is efficient but very nice! He said the Nuchal translucency at a 1.6 is good and well within normal so that's happy news! I'm now dated it's 13+3 weeks so my official due date is 16 September. Can't believe how anxious I'd got, my blood pressure was high and then when they did it it an hour later it was within normal think it was due to the anxiety LOL!. So after several hours in hospital mainly waiting for appointments and back and happy and have the rest the day off so I'm sitting watching a bit of trash TV.

Kafeeundkuchen · 14/03/2016 14:34

Sorry managed to post that twice!! 😁

CityMole · 14/03/2016 14:45

What a relief Kafe! Hopefully you can relax now and enjoy the next stage of pregnancy Smile

notfrom he is absolutely wonderful, well done! I didn't know that newborns sometimes have teeth

oldbird, welcome!

Sheera41 · 14/03/2016 16:34

Kafe so pleased for you you must be sooo relieved, I'm going to inquire about harmony tests as per advice on another thread! So glad to have found you all and hear your stories!

Sheera41 · 14/03/2016 16:35

Ps I'm the same person as old bird, keep changing my name, pregnancy nerves/ brain!

CityMole · 14/03/2016 16:47

sheera (princess of power!) stop changing your bleedin' name Grin

Just so you know, there are a some other non invasive tests like harmony, e.g. the panorama test- if you google 'NIPT' you'll be able to learn more.

here's a link to an article that the portland published- www.theportlandhospital.com/uploads/maternity/harmony_test.pdf

Our test cost us about £500 I think, but I've seen some places offer it for as low as £350- depends where you are in the country. big cities with more competition in the market seem to be at the cheaper end of the scale.

Sheera41 · 14/03/2016 19:13

Thanks Sheera from now on! ( yep princess of power ) Getting my head around this 40 and pregnant malarkey, lovely to hear all your stories. Going to ask about private tests. Here we get the nucal fold measured as part of 12 week scan, alongside bloods taken, would harmony be any different to this? Assumed I would have to have cvs or amino? Supposed to be getting a new bathroom fitted today and it's all gone tits up, trying hard not to stress about that as it can't be good for the baby on top of all other worries X

brookeberry · 14/03/2016 19:41

Great news kafe! Glad it went so well today - it's such a good feeling Smile

Welcome sheera. Don't worry so much about your age! Im 42 and 35 weeks with DC1 and all is well. Midwifes don't even raise an eyebrow now about over 40s. And congrats!

Kafeeundkuchen · 18/03/2016 09:54

Hey, is anyone else s teacher? And has anyone been given an exemption from ofsted (definitely not being selected to be observed) due to high risk preg (40 and obese) due to stress and raise in blood pressure it entails? I've just requested and had a reply saying HR will meet me to discuss. Really nervous! 😕

Grizzer · 20/03/2016 18:32

Delayed reply Kafe! I'm a teacher but I've never heard of pregnancy excusing you from Ofsted. I would imagine the belief would be if you are able to work you are able to do all that your job entails. Is Ofsted imminent? I would just try to treat it like a normal day. It shouldn't provoke panic & loads of extra work. Unfortunately it's the culture of fear we work in that makes us feel we have to stay up all night planning lessons! Did you speak to HR?

Melinda76 · 20/03/2016 19:42

Hi everyone I've not been on here for ages sorry.
Just wanted to post an update, I went into labour 8 weeks early and had a beautiful baby girl weighing 4.1lbs, bit of a shock! She's in the neonatal unit which is a big learning experience but doing really well.
Smile

Arborea · 20/03/2016 19:47

Congratulations Melinda, hope the little one makes it home soon Flowers

Kafeeundkuchen · 20/03/2016 20:50

Congratulations Melinda!

Grizzer, I spoke to my gp and he's given me a 'fit note' stating I can be at work if excused from 'ofsted related work' due to stress affecting pregnancy. So relieved! We think we have ofsted imminent and we diefontly have a 'Mocksted' (just as stressful!) after Easter so I'm just really relieved! My gp is fantastic! Smile
