So I'm 39wks today and randomly panicking about where I'll be when my waters break Hmm

OP posts:
ApollO88 · 01/11/2015 18:13

i was in bed which had an expensive purpose purchased mattress protector. Water started to "go" at 4am in the morning, i shot out of bed to run to loo as i felt like i was wetting myself.... waters flooded the hallway carpet..... that was an expensive mistake. should have stayed put and just changed the sheets instead of the carpet!

TheTravellingLemon · 01/11/2015 18:16

About to be sent home from hospital because my waters weren't about to break Grin.

I'd gone in because I had some meconium in waters, but as they were telling me that it was impossible ad my cervix was shut there was another huge gush (sorry), meconium and all.

WelliesTheyAreWonderful · 01/11/2015 18:18

In bed! Had a protector for the bed but didn't even need it, it came in little gushes rather than the waterfall effect you see on tv! Maternity pads did just fine.

CormoranStrike · 01/11/2015 18:21

First time in hospital after about six hours of labour, just before he was born.

Second time in the dining room, serving ds1 his rea. Went to hospital six hours later for a check up, no signs of labour, but kept in cos the waters had gone. Labour started around half one, DD born at 3am.

Wolfiefan · 01/11/2015 18:21

Both times my waters went not long before I started pushing. I was in a hospital bed.

welshHairs · 01/11/2015 18:21

I was in hospital nearly fully dilated when it suddenly gushed out. Mine was more like a water full.

welshHairs · 01/11/2015 18:22

Waterfall*

ALongTimeComing · 01/11/2015 18:22

In my kitchen! Bloody good thing as it was a proper flood.

Susiesue61 · 01/11/2015 18:23

Once In bed slightly, then massively as I went to wake DH to say I thought they'd gone Blush With number 3, during labour, huge gush all over the floor!

MarvinKMooney · 01/11/2015 18:23

Dc1: waters broke in hospital as I was about to start pushing.
Dc2: tidying away dc1's toys: whoosh. Dc2 arrived an hour later Confused

mamapants · 01/11/2015 18:23

In hospital both times. One as the first step of being induced for medical reasons, second was as I was pushing to give birth.

SomeonesRealName · 01/11/2015 18:24

Bouncing like mad on a birthing ball in our front room hoping to bring on labour. They didn't gush out everywhere though it was just a little squirt and then gradually more.

Etak15 · 01/11/2015 18:24

First time I was in bed Asleep - I shot up too made it to the bathroom without too much mess I think then contractions started shortly after the next 3 times waters didn't break until I was in hospital and it was time to push.

Sighing · 01/11/2015 18:25

At 38 weeks dc1 I woke up (6am ish) and there was a slight trickle. By the the i got to the bathroom i had damp pants but dry pj's.
At 38 weeks dc2 the waters went during birth - that was more spectacular, still didn't go beyond the pad thing the midwife put down when monitoring my contractions.

Buttercup27 · 01/11/2015 18:26

Mine was a proper waterfall the first time, as I stepped out of the birthing pool it was like a scene from the exorcist as the shocked me projectile vomit everywhere!
The second was much less dramatic and was in little bits in a hospital bed at 4am as I was in for High blood pressure.

MrsMillions · 01/11/2015 18:27

Hospital both times here too. With DD1 MW broke them for me when 9cm, DD2 broke them herself whilst I was pushing, she arrived maybe 10 minutes later.

poocatcherchampion · 01/11/2015 18:28

Once in a birth centre and twice on the operating table. Thry didn't go without a fight either...

DorothyBastard · 01/11/2015 18:29

DC1 - when I was nearly fully dilated on the hospital bed
DC2 - they didn't go. DS was born 'en caul' with the waters still in tact around his head. The midwife broke them after his head was born to encourage the last contraction so the rest of him would come out. It's meant to be lucky for him Smile

MyNameIsSuz · 01/11/2015 18:30

I was lucky, mine went over the toilet! Got up for a wee at 3am, just as I was standing back up I heard an audible pop. Then I stood up to see what happened and soaked the floor... but it was the bathroom tiles, so no biggie. Doubt I'll be as lucky this time!

DisneyMillie · 01/11/2015 18:30

On the sofa after I coughed - thought I'd wet myself at first Blush

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 01/11/2015 18:30

Mine gushed straight in the face of the doctor, poor soul was drenched!! The shock on his face was priceless!! He was about to break them, bit went on their own ... Wink

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 01/11/2015 18:31

In hospital (ARM)

In birth pool

Presumably in pool but didn't notice them.

Other than waking in the night cos they go it's fairly rare for them to go as the first sign of labour. That's a film plot thing.

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/11/2015 18:31

On the antenatal ward about 15 mins before DH was about to be sent home

EatSleepTeachRepeat · 01/11/2015 18:31

Mine started when I woke up - like a see through period: Stuck a pad on and went out wedding dress shopping and bridesmaid dress shopping with my mother and chief bridesmaid, changed pad several times through out the day but didn't even have a twinge or any other feelings.

Once we had dropped off bridesmaid I said to my mum "Can we stop by the hospital as my waters have broken" queue total melt down and hysteria from my mother and a night spent in the hospital with DS being born by EMCS at 9:30 that night.

Still managed to find and buy the bridesmaid dresses!

MrsTatum1980 · 01/11/2015 18:32

They never did! DP point blank refused to believe I was in 'proper' labour until DS came flying out still tucked up in his water sac (is it a 'caul?!!) Apparently he'll never drown and he had a lovely complexion because of it Grin
