I was induced though. And then my contractions started big time.

It was like a movie gush though - not what I was expecting at all!

In bed, thought I'd wet myself got up to go to the toilet and they gushed everywhere all Over the carpet!

Dc1 in bed
DC2 in hospital, as I was pushing.
Dc3 same as dc2.

As a pp said it really is more of a film plot thing that it's the first sign of labour. More often than not contractions come first.

First time in triage after 24 hours of labour, while triage midwife was just finishing the examination and saying I 'might' be able to be admitted. Huge gush with meconium, plus DS's heart rate was up and down, so we went straight to labour ward; DS1 was born about 4 hours later.

Second time they went as I was sitting on the edge of a couch thing in the midwife-led unit. Huge gush again and the relief was immense. DS2 arrived about 20 minutes later.

I was bouncing on my birth ball in the front room. I leapt up and yelped 'There's a breach in the hull!'

DP and my mum just looked at me blankly.

II was 37 weeks and in Sainsbos by the yoghurts, a real gush came forth and II ended up standing in a puddle not quite knowing what to do!
This is years ago so I can now laugh but was mortified at the time. Sainsbos called an ambulance and a nice member of staff sat with me until it arrived. Dd2 was born 6 hours later.
Sainsbos sent some flowers + chocs and then when Id recovered I went to a presentation in the store of a voucher and more flowers and nappies Local press were there cringe and ran a piece about "young Mum almost gives birth in local supermarket"
Great PR for live well pay less I assumed

OP - have you bought a special sheet/are you wearing maternity pads now? I'm nearly 35 weeks and wondering if I should be looking into these...

In the birth pool, the second DD was born.

Dd- whilst running up the stairs at home Blush
Ds1- in hospital restaurant 3 days after start of induction.
Ds2- They were broken just before I delivered him on by midwife.
First two were long trickles rather than full in gush!

In the delivery suite about to get in the bath. I was just about to get my leggings off as well, so that was annoying!

Mrscrim no I haven't but after seeing how many peoples go in bed thinking I'm going to buy a mattress protector tomorrow and I have maternity pads but not wearing them yet... Hmm my DP has shampoo'd all our carpets today, he's now panicking my waters will break on the carpet Grin

Full gusher all over the new floor that my husband has just fitted that weekend because it had been water damaged by a washing machine leak Confused!

I didn't notice, it was during labour and felt slightly damp, midwife confirmed they had gone. So not always a gush. I had one of those pads under the sheet and also sat on one in the car on way to hospital just in case as well!

With dd1 in a curry house. Luckily wasn't overly gushy and I didn't wet the chair. Got the bus home with toilet paper stuffed in my knickers because I was too scared I'd soak s taxi seat! With dd2 I rolled over in bed and heard/felt a clunk. Went to the loo and waters went properly. Both times preceded labour starting. Both babies came quickly. I'm sure you'll be fine.

1 - on the toilet at home with no warning signs before
2 - in bed I heard a pop & ran to toilet shouting at husband "it's go go go!", also no warning before (& no mess on bed)

So I seem to be like in the films!

Another one with a full on gush of them in bed it woke me up at 2am and I had to sniff it to make sure I hadn't pissed myself. Contractions didn't even start for another 12 hours and then was induced to hurry it all up

First time in bed at 4am when I was trying to do the usual 28-point turn. Waters went gradually rather than a gush so no bedding ruined.

Second time in the birthing pool, two pushes before ds was born Smile

Dd1 in the car as I was driving home from picking up dh, heard them pop and they gushed out as I got out of the car.
Dd2 I slowly leaked over a day without realising, I was wearing liners and was paranoid about leaking but didn't really think they had gone til the midwife questioned feeling dd's hair during an examination!

In the last stages of labour with all of them.

With one of them, the MW was going to break my waters to get a sluggish labour to come back to life, but we were home with no amnio hook and not even a crochet hook to be found. And then labour kicked off big time anyway.

There must be something about 4am as it seems to be a common theme!

Hospital both times

I went into labour naturally but waters didn't break on either occasion so I had the knitting needle procedure!

Started trickling at home in bed, small gushes in hospital corridor and gushed like niagra falls when I was on a hospital bed about to be examined :)
