I hand a section at 31 weeks, so in theatre. I presume they were suctioned when they made the incision.
Good luck to the op.

Delivery room every time (well actually the last time I had a home birth but you know what I mean) - I was either fully dilated or very nearly there each time before they went.

In the hospital already. My waters never broke for either DS before I went into labour, it was done by the midwife.

I got a strong urge to go to the loo and a feeling of not being able to wait (worse than usual) luckily I was at home as 41wks at this point went to the loo and it gushed out for quite a while so thought i was ok all in toilet so went to maternity unit and while walking along corridor to the room I was examined in there was a huge gush again and it went absolutely everywhere just like in the movies very embarrassing but staff were lovely and we're all geared up to deal with it!!!! I would recommend keeping spare clothes in car to change into if expecting hospital to send u home again like I did as was not even having contractions at this point!! Good luck xxx

First and third time, at home. Second time, Debenhams, but it was my hind waters leaking. Fourth time, hospital. I was booked in for an induction but a sweep set things off.

In bed the first time. In the birthing pool the second time. The bed one was weird because I'd been half dozing at 3 am ish and felt like a tweak and a trickle so leapt out of bed and actually made it to the toilet without destroying anything.

Mine were a big surprise
I was 36weeks and sorting out some work in my office at home late on Sunday night. Stood up from my chair and woosh all over the carpet! I was really surprised as I thought it was far too early. Had to phone work and say sorry I won't be coming in as I'm having a baby.

They were broken for me because I was 10cm and they were still intact.

You'll know it's your waters because they have a distinct smell Grin

DS1 - in bed, slow leak. Went to hospital for assessment and was kept in. Labour began naturally early the next day.

DS2 - ARM on labour ward ready for ventouse delivery :(

DS3 -in bed, slow leak again. Went for assessment and was sent home. Ended up with an induction due to labour not starting on its own. I'd tried so hard to avoid induction (was overdue too) but it was easily the best birth of the three and over quickly too.

I never really noticed at the time as I was about 18 hours into labour, but the midwife broke them when I was in hospital to try and hurry things along.

When I got into the birth pool so I didn't notice much except that the pressure from the contractions got a bit easier. DP noticed though Hmm!!

First time I'd just got back into bed after getting up for a wee. Heard a pop and a tinkling noise. No contractions until after waters had gone.

Second time they had to be broken by the midwife. The relief of pressure was amazing.

If I could choose with this baby I would choose to labour without waters intact.

First time in bed- big gush. Sorted myself out, no contraxtions so went back to bed. 5 mins later I heard a pop and that was the rest of my waters!
Second time they were broken for me at 8cm in the hospital -DS was born 30mins later

I was in bed....
Midwife had told DH and I that sex can be a good way to get things moving...so that's what we did.
I stood up to go to the bathroom and felt a tiny trickle...which embarrassingly, I thought was baby gravy Blush
Turns out it wasn't. My waters had broken...was kind of like a slow puncture on a tyre, was veeerrrry slowly trickling for ages and ages. And then DD moved so she was blocking the tiny hole in the sac! Had to be induced in the end because nothing happened after that!

On the loo on the evening I finished work at 36+6 on a Friday night at 7.45pm ... Halfway through preparing dinner... Heard this loud bang from inside ... Thought the cat had fallen into the bath... Dribbled out water into a pad as wasn't entirely sure!! Then the dribble just kept on coming and coming.......Contractions kicked in by 8.10 pm in a taxi by 9pm...6cm by 10.30pm. Delivered at my birth centre pool at12.21am - dribbling waters throughout until he popped out!

DC1 - broken 20 hours after I was induced. A trickle rather than a gush
DC2 - burst in the face of a MW who examined me at the wrong moment. DS was born about 15 mins later, just as the MW came back in the room having gone to get changed.

A colleague's waters did break at work. I thought I saw a really pregnant person rave past my office but dismissed it as I didn't think anyone that pregnant could move that quickly. Heard the next day that she'd been doing her handover noted to her boss as she was 37w & it was her last day, felt a bit damp, realised what was going on & dashed to the loo, running past my office on the way. Her son was born that evening. Her's is the only one I've ever heard of which was anything like the movies.

I'm another one who popped in the face of a midwife, the feeling of relief was enormous. DD was born 20mins later.
