Something not right... Stillbirth?

This is my 3rd pregnancy. It has felt totally different to the previous two the whole way along, and now I'm 40wks but haven't felt any movement at all for 12hours, and she's been slowing all week. The other two came at 38wks. Husband is not home and I have no one to leave kids with if I went to a&e/antenatal ward. If something had gone wrong would there be any signs? Ive not had a show, or any bleeding, but have had a bit of standard looking discharge. I just can't shake the feeling something isn't right.

Well the movement does slow down when there is less room. But I think you absolutely need to be seen to make sure. Is there really no-one who you could ask? If not then I would take them with you, and hopefully you will be in and out quickly . I hope all is ok.

PotteringAlong · 10/09/2015 20:20

Any change of movement needs to be checked out. You need to call and be seen. Can your DH come home?

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 10/09/2015 20:21

You need to get checked this evening. Either call someone to babysit or tske the kids with you to the hospital (ring them first though).

Jellybean100 · 10/09/2015 20:21

Movement does not slow down. Mothers instinct is often the most reliable thing and you need to ring the antenatal/assessment ward or whatever is the correct area for your hospital and be monitored. You have absolutely nobody to have your children? Not even a friend? Just imagine if it was worst case scenario and your children are sat with you in hospital. Not ideal. Sort child care and ring please ASAP... Let us know how you get on xx

First of all keep calm. There is lots in the media about still birth at the moment (eastenders) which may be making you panic. Call the midwife at the hospital and explain your fears then I want you to make a really sweet drink, grab some chocolate and eat it/drink it. Then lay down on the sofa. You should feel that little baby move (with maybe a few prods from yourself) after the sugar rush. Remember the movements will slow down the bigger they get but always go with your instinct. Do you have a neighbour that could sit with the kids if you did need to shoot up the hospital?

PeppasNanna · 10/09/2015 20:22

Get yourself checked...

Agree she ime home or take them with you and I expect you'll be seen straight away. Always best to check

Twolefttoes · 10/09/2015 20:22

There is a lot to be said for mother's instinct. Sorry i don't want to scare you, it may well be nothing but please ring the hospital now and go with your children if you have to.

ifiwereuidhatemetoo · 10/09/2015 20:22

Massive load of cross posts there!

stillnotjustamummy · 10/09/2015 20:22

Thanks, I've asked husband to come home, he thinks I could just see a midwife in the morning. This pregnancy was so unexpected and has been so different all the way through and I've never really believed I would be lucky enough to have 3 healthy easy pregnancies so maybe I'm just being paranoid.

You do need to get seen tonight. Is there absolutely nobody who can watch your dc?

Flambola · 10/09/2015 20:24

Movement does not slow down. This is poor advice. It changes, but it doesn't slow. Get yourself checked out as soon as possible.

alltheworld · 10/09/2015 20:24

You need to go now with the kids if necessary. Show dh this thread.

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 10/09/2015 20:24

You probably are just worrying but you need checking tonight Flowers

stillnotjustamummy · 10/09/2015 20:24

StrawberryLeaf · 10/09/2015 20:25

Babies movements don't reduce with less room, they might just feel different.

I'm sure allowed be ok but you must get checked, call your hospital.

stillnotjustamummy · 10/09/2015 20:25

Thanks for handholding

I felt the same with my third, all the way along I felt as though I had 'pushed my luck' and that I surely couldn't expect 3 healthy kids. My third was actually the easiest birth and has been the bonniest little lass.

ThomasRichard · 10/09/2015 20:25

Call the delivery suite. Then call a family member/friend/next door neighbour to sit with the kids while you go & get checked out.

RevsDeCub · 10/09/2015 20:27

Hope you're ok OP. Please go and get checked tonight, even if there is nothing wrong there is no use you worrying!
Just phone triage & see what they advise.

Bin85 · 10/09/2015 20:28

Look at Count the Kicks website
But go in and get checked first please

Jellybean100 · 10/09/2015 20:28

Please don't leave it until the morning. If you haven't felt any movement in 12 hours that's long enough. When babies are in distress they reserve their energy by not moving. By the morning that could be too late. Never put things like this off especially when you have a "feeling". Xx

PacificDogwood · 10/09/2015 20:29

Do get checked, as others have said.

Sugar rush is not a bad idea; you could also try a big glass of a cold fizzy drink or ice cream.
I always used to poke my bump hard when the baby in question did not oblige with regular movements.
V best of luck - holding your hand Thanks

goldglittershitter · 10/09/2015 20:30

Hope everything is ok, OP. Sure it will b but definitely needs checking tonight for peace of mind.

Keep us posted n take care Flowers .

coveredinsnot · 10/09/2015 20:32

If you haven't felt any movement at all for 12 hours you absolutely must be seen asap. Don't let your dh fob you off! It's so worrying when things like this happen. Really hope all is well and will come back and check to see how you're getting on Flowers
