This is my 3rd pregnancy. It has felt totally different to the previous two the whole way along, and now I'm 40wks but haven't felt any movement at all for 12hours, and she's been slowing all week. The other two came at 38wks. Husband is not home and I have no one to leave kids with if I went to a&e/antenatal ward. If something had gone wrong would there be any signs? Ive not had a show, or any bleeding, but have had a bit of standard looking discharge. I just can't shake the feeling something isn't right.

Just seen your post re the ward, ring back and say that you are not hapoy to wait, either that or do you have a community midwife? Maybe she may come out if she is on call?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/09/2015 20:53

Honestly I'd still go in - it's only a suggestion. Too bad if they're busy! Just say you were concerned?
But good that you've felt some movements, that's encouraging isn't it?

blaeberry · 10/09/2015 20:53

I went up to the hospital with my two dd due to Lack of movement and they both turned out fine. However, a friend did the same and was only just time to save the baby with an emergency CS (so quick it had to be under a general). So while I don't want to scare you, you do need to be checked and don't let a busy ward put you off.

onthematleavecountdown · 10/09/2015 20:54

Saying the ward is busy is not a reason to tell you to wait a bit! Reduced movements must be taken seriously. Please please make sure you go tonight. I've personally seen the horrendous outcome when the woman decided she would wait till the morning. Make sure you tell them the baby has been getting slower over the week as well.

Datschi · 10/09/2015 20:55

Just wanted to send my best wishes.

Don't be fobbed off, you need to go in ASAP tonight for a trace.

My friend went through similar and ended up with a shock emergency c-section there and then and thankfully a healthy baby at the end.

alltheworld · 10/09/2015 20:55

Just go, they can't diagnose over the phone.

ThomasRichard · 10/09/2015 20:57

Tough cheese if they're busy. Please go OP.

Bunnyjo · 10/09/2015 20:59

OP, ring them back and explain that with the reduced movements all week, followed by this prolonged period of non movement, you think it best you come in now to be checked over.

Telling you to wait as they are busy is extremely poor advice.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/09/2015 21:00

Yeh, MNers are shit hot on this stuff - unlike UK maternity services. Hopefully they'll catch up soon. But meanwhile listen to excellent advice here, and go in to be checked out x

slithytove · 10/09/2015 21:02

Don't wait and see if there is more movement.
Dd had small movement for three days. When I went into labour, her heart couldn't cope and she died.

Had she been delivered sooner, we would have a 3 year old asleep upstairs.

Sorry for being the doom mongerer but nothing is worth not getting checked.

UnbelievableBollocks · 10/09/2015 21:02

That's surprising. When I called in about reduced movements they got me right in to monitor. Especially so close to birth.

fastdaytears · 10/09/2015 21:02

Not your problem if they're busy is it? Make a nuisance of yourself or better still get your DH to. Cake some more sugar for you since baby seems to like it!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/09/2015 21:06

slithytove Sad Flowers

Hippymama · 10/09/2015 21:06

I would definitely go and get checked. Can't believe they told you they were busy ?? terrible

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 10/09/2015 21:07

Ring them back and tell them that rcog guidelines say after two hours of reduced movements you should be checked. Ask why they're not following guidelines.

RockerMummy184 · 10/09/2015 21:07

We're very busy so just wait...that is very bad advice!! Once you've been checked over and reassured that everything is fine I would be making a complaint!

Let us know how you get on.

DragonsCanHop · 10/09/2015 21:09

Busy! Get yourself down there and on a monitor Flowers

Frecklesandspecs · 10/09/2015 21:09

They often go quiet before labour. Got 3 also myself. Try not to panic but go get checked just for reassurance. Seem to remember my last going very quiet and going to get checked too x

Frecklesandspecs · 10/09/2015 21:12

Don't ring. Go in. They always fob U off on the phone.

alltheworld · 10/09/2015 21:12

Show the midwives the thread. Not blaming individuals here but the UK has a terrible record on this kind of thing

Want2bSupermum · 10/09/2015 21:12

Just please go to the hospital. My friend lost her baby at 38 weeks earlier this year because she didn't act on instinct and was fobbed off with 'we are busy so please wait until the morning'. A midwife coming to your house won't have the right equipment to properly check on the baby nor can they do anything if there is a problem.

I am sure all is fine but you need to err on the side of caution.

goldglittershitter · 10/09/2015 21:13

Busy?!?! Oh that is awful. Ignore that crap n go down there, OP.

goldglittershitter · 10/09/2015 21:14

Oh slithy am so sorry Flowers .

BoffinMum · 10/09/2015 21:18

I would go to A and E right now, in fact I am surprised you are not there already.

Battleshiphips2 · 10/09/2015 21:19

To be honest I don't think they like people coming in at evening/nighttime. In my last pregnancy I was bleeding bright red blood and cramping, they told me to come in the morning as they wouldn't do anything overnight. I would just turn up if I were you. Pretty shocked they didn't tell you to come straight in! Flowers Hope everything is ok.
