I never thought I'd reach this stage.
I'm absolutely shitting myself re: labour so thought I'd be happy that it seems to be taking as long as possible. But NOOOOOOO.

I am 40+6 today and I have had enough. Have tried raspberry leaf, OJ, spicy food, walking, bouncing/sitting on ball, nipple stimulation Blush and everything else that's been recommended, and I've not even had a single Braxton Hick. No twinges, nothing. Junior is still squirming up high against my rib cage, despite being 3/5 engaged and in a 'good position' (according to the midwife). It's like he's too comfy in there and doesn't want to come out!

I'm booked for a sweep on Tues- which I was hoping to avoid- and then induction on Friday if that doesn't work (it won't). I can just visualise myself having to spend the whole of next weekend in hospital on a fucking drip before having to have a C-section because the little (not!) bugger still won't come out of his own accord.

I was expecting to have felt something by now! Has anyone else gone into labour with absolutely no prior indication/symptoms? Please give me some hope!!

BORED OUT OF MY MIND.

Been here since 1, just hanging around in maternity inpatients. Not even been monitored yet. No more 'contractions'. Gah.

Grumplestinkypants · 21/08/2015 15:53

Mind if I join you ladies, I am 41 tomorrow.
I already had a stretch and sweep this week but apparently, even though I was 1cm dilated, my cervix was too long and thick to do a sweep. Trust me to have stupid lady parts.

The midwife said to wait a full week before doing another one as there was likely to be so little progress, so I am sat on my ball again until Tuesday, which feels like an age away.

How long before they decide that my body doesn't have a clue what it is doing and they induce me?

Packergator · 21/08/2015 17:17

Still waiting. Over four hours in hospital with no contact with midwife...no monitoring, induction not even started. I am in a foul mood! All the other 3 women in this room have been monitored and induced, I don't know why they're ignoring me! Feel like crying, we're SO BORED.

blowinahoolie · 21/08/2015 17:58

Ahh, I'm a bit deflated now, thought you'd gone into labour and would have had the baby Pack. Apologies! Hope it kicks off for you tonight. You honestly have my sympathies.

I know this third baby of mine will be like this in a week or two....they just don't like budging!

Packergator · 21/08/2015 18:31

Well, I'm currently lying fanj to the wind waiting my first internal exam and the first dose of prostaglandin. At least they gave me dinner first...! ????

lindsay982 · 21/08/2015 19:09

Hi ladies. I'm delighted to tell you that Euan Stewart Wilkinson was born today at 12.13pm weighing 8lb 5oz! Confused You were totally right skeppers/gator he's plumped out perfectly and looks more like a two week old than a wrinkly red newborn. I'm biased of course but I think he's perfect! Grin

Rosenwyn1985 · 21/08/2015 21:05

Congratulations Lindsay! He's gorgeous!

Seriously hope things get going soon packers! I'm now booked in for induction Sunday and hoping they don't leave me sitting about. We have to be there by half seven in the morning! My poor aunt having to get up at the crack of dawn to take our little one on her only day off!

Ledehe · 21/08/2015 22:31

Hi hope I can join in, 40+3 here and utterly fed up. 14 days over with dd1 9 years ago and had a traumatic birth following induction and was hoping to go naturally this time. Had a sweep day before due date and nothing! Think it'll be induction again for me which they have agreed to do on Monday at 8pm. So I do have an end date in sight!

justabigdisco · 21/08/2015 22:49

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for you all but I'm not pregnant any more either.. Got to hospital at 17.45 and baby girl Alice born at 20.19. It was fucking hard work but she is beautiful SmileSmileSmile

holdmyhand123 · 21/08/2015 23:10

40 + 10 today.... And not pregnant anymore either. Went to hospital in tears yesterday after a week of constant pain and no sleep. The consultant arranged codeine and a sleeping tablet for me with plan for induction this morning. However, it seemed that I just needed the sleep because my waters broke all by themselves at 5am, with contractions starting at 5.30. My little girl arrived quite speedily into a birth pool, at 9.25am. Completely smitten. She was worth the wait (and was my biggest as well as being "later" than my others by 2 weeks - 8lb 11 oz!)

Hurry up to other babies

Packergator · 21/08/2015 23:24

My waters have literally just broken! Shock Though I'm convinced the midwife thinks I've just pissed myself...

No contractions as yet though. Could still be a long night! Sad

justabigdisco · 22/08/2015 02:00

Good luck skeppers/pack - hope things are going ok for you. Am knackered now but my girl has other ideas- just wants to be cuddled! Smitten EnvyEnvy

justabigdisco · 22/08/2015 02:01

Congratulations Lindsay and holdmyhand!!

InTheory · 22/08/2015 02:38

Hello newbies! Keep faith it will happen!

Congrats Lindsay and disco, lovely names. Hope you are enjoying new born cuddles.

After my sweep I was roughly 24 hours from my first contraction to my wee boy George being born yesterday afternoon. He is just perfect at 7lb 9. Currently pretending to breast feed but he is more having a bit chew on my poor nipple.

Fingers crossed for everyone else. Hope things are happening for you skeppers!

InTheory · 22/08/2015 02:39

Oops and congrats to holdmyhand too! I had a birth pool birth too, it was just magic!

justabigdisco · 22/08/2015 03:08

Congrats intheory!

Come on skeppers, we're rooting for you..!

Spitoon · 22/08/2015 10:51

CONGRATS ON THE NEW ARRIVALS!!!!!

I am in labour...but my contractions are 10mins apart an just period-like back pain at the minute, bearable, so I guess I am in for a long ride!

Packergator · 22/08/2015 15:54

Well done and congratulations to everyone who has coaxed their reluctant offspring from their wombs...I am currently hooked up to epidural, syntocin and a trace monitor and am about 2 hours away from an EMCS as I've been stuck at 8cm dilated for the last 6 hours, but feeling surprisingly chilled about the whole thing! (Because=NO PAIN!) Grin

justabigdisco · 22/08/2015 16:27

That's only 2 hours til you get to meet your baby packers! Go you!

lindsay982 · 22/08/2015 17:25

So many babies on 21st August! Congratulations ladies - you are all awesome. packers hopefully you are making progress and will be meeting your own bundle of gorgeousness soon. Once she/he arrives you won't care how they got here!
And good luck to the newbies on the thread.x

Packergator · 23/08/2015 06:10

FINALLY at approx. 7.30pm on Saturday baby Rufus (all 8lb 11 of him) was dragged kicking and screaming into the world by a pair of rather terrifying forceps!

My waters broke at around 11.30pm on Friday following an induction pessary. I then started having contractions and was admitted to labour ward at 2am. Labour proved fruitless...got as far as 8cm then stopped! Was put on drip and epidural administered- another 4 hours and I was fully dilated but baby still not shifting! He was facing the wrong way up.

Was prepped for theatre and told they'd try to turn baby, then attempt forceps delivery, then a c-section if all else failed.

Fortunately they were able to turn baby and the forceps delivery worked. It was a bit brutal to watch (i asked if they were carving a turkey!) but did the job. The hospital team were fantastic!

He's taken to breastfeeding like a natural which is such a relief to me. Everyone comments on a) how much hair he has (thick, black, curly) and b) how big his feet are! (They are weirdly big...)

The nicest thing has been DH's reaction to him. He's absolutely smitten! He could hardly tear himself away after partners visiting last night! Too cute. SO happy it's over- just looking forward now to my first sleep in 48 hours!

Spitoon · 23/08/2015 06:30

Congrats!

I've been in stop-start labour all weekend...getting really disheartened as the pain feels so productive at the time- breathtakingly sore contractions and then they just stop :( Nowt since last night.

justabigdisco · 23/08/2015 08:33

Ah, congrats skeppers/packer! Sounds a lot like my first labour, except I wasn't induced. Good news is it's easier next time round! Rufus is a great name. Well done you!

Welcome to other pissed off overdue ladies - not long to go now!
