I am 43 and currently pg with DC2, due early January. I thought it would be nice to have a thread for the pregnant ladies of 'older vintage', similar to the 40+ ttc thread, for advice, support and the occasional moan.

Congratulations Ellie. So sorry to hear about your losses. Many of us here are having successful pregnancies after losses so hopefully this is the one for you. I have a friend who always knew she was pregnant because she got thrush every time. Could it be that? Sounds like cystitis too with the burning but if your urine is ok I'm not sure. Might be worth a chat with a pharmacist. Natural yogurt is supposed to help.
Have they found a reason for your losses?
It's a great feeling isn't it Isla? The end is in sight.
Dh spent yesterday evening scrubbing the pram & car seat that have been in the loft. He also found one of those enormous laundry bags full of white newborn clothes so we are all ready to go. I must confess it made us both a bit nervous to have everything in sight. The worry that something could still go wrong is definitely there. I can't believe how tiny the clothes look!

mooncalf · 05/11/2015 09:23

Thanks brooke - it really makes a difference to know we can all help each other :)

Congrats ellie - lots of us here have similar history of m/c, so do understand the stress you are feeling! I definitely got the increased white discharge (is it leukorrhea?), which can feel uncomfortable, but if you are having the pessaries, could it be them causing the burning? I've stopped mine now (hurrah) but I think they can irritate...

grizzer you sound like you are all ready to go! House far along are you now (sorry don't seem to be able to keep information in my head at all!).

Ellie2015 · 05/11/2015 10:09

Thank u Grizzer. I applied greek style natural yogurt (low fat Wink) and it just helped me so much with the burning! How long u leave the yogurt on for? Yeah it doesnt look like cystitis. Could cyclogest cause this burning sensation as it rather felt like an allergic reaction to be honest. Having said that i have used it for last 4 nights with no issues?? Delayed allergic reaction?? I'm very allergic type person that why asking..anyone had similar experience??

Ellie2015 · 05/11/2015 10:14

Mooncalf yes that's what exactly i was wondering! How far are u in ur pregnancy? I dont have leukorrhoea but yes bit increased clear discharge ?? Acidic causing this burn

U have hemorrhoids. Does anyone think i could still have the pessary back passage to rest front passage for few days??

So how far along are you in your pregnancy? How nice u're off this disgusting pessary!

Grizzer, yes looks like you are all set now. How lovely! xxx

Grizzer · 05/11/2015 10:15

I'm 30 weeks Moon. Just getting organised because we're on half term this week. Next holiday is Christmas so I don't imagine there will be much time for scrubbing prams & washing clothes then. The only concern is where to put everything now! It's all in the middle of the kitchen floor at the moment.
6 weeks of work to go - the countdown is definitely on Grin

mooncalf · 05/11/2015 10:38

Ellie I'm 14+5, and I have mild hemorrhoids and I did alternate between front and back - I didn't find that they aggravated it really, but found then sometimes uncomfortable to put in... I did get used to them though, and they stopped burning. Best thing I guess is to ask the person who prescribed them to be sure...

grizzer 30 weeks is definitely on the homeward stretch!! I guess you are basically off from Xmas then. I can't imagine thinking about prams yet!

cloudjumper · 05/11/2015 11:41

ellie Progesterone pessaries are well known for causing irritation and spotting, it could well be that. I would use the back door for a while to see if it gets better (but do go to the docs if they don't to rule out cystitis, even if it doesn't feel like that!). I used the pessaries during the first trimester and found it much more comfortable from the back.

Starting to think that I should probably pack my hospital bag, eek! Seems so early, given that I will most likely have the ELCS, but still need to be prepared. So will get DH to get stuff from the loft... and extract the pram and car seat from the cupboard under the stairs! I have no PJs or nighties, currently sleeping in DH's t-shirts, but should get something more 'decent' for hospital, I guess...
I will also have to tell DH that he needs to stop drinking Grin, in case there is any emergency in the evening/at night. Looking forward to that sadistic, moi?, he's been enjoying his tipple a bit too much for my liking recently.

That sounds like a good plan *Cloud jumper and *mooncalf. 30 weeks and 14 plus are such lovely milestones. I hope I get there too this time. Fx.

Ha ha thats hillarious Cloudjumper. ???? Yes good idea to buy something 'decent' for the hosp. Do u think DH would function differently if he stops drinking. I would doubt that with my DH Wink..men!! ?? So glad to have found u ladies xx

mooncalf · 05/11/2015 18:29

Hello... Well we got our harmony results, and they came back as the high risk (99% chance of downs). Shit.

I'm... Ok. In bits, obviously, but hubby is being incredible - if anything I am sadder on his behalf as he so wanted this and doesn't have any children. I mean I wanted it too, but not in the same way. I don't know if this makes sense.

Referred to prenatal med clinic, amnio prob booked for Monday, though we have the weekend to decide what the hell to do.

I guess its time to head over to the other threads on here about downs and so on... Kind of don't want to bring the thread down with this, when everyone's news has been so positive lately!

I've had better days, I have to say :(

cloudjumper · 05/11/2015 18:34

Moon so so sorry to hear this, of course you should mention it here, that's what the thread is for! Wishing you lots of strength in this difficult time and that you can make a decision that is right for you ThanksThanksThanks

oh moon. I want to bundle you up in a massive hug and make things better for you. I am so sorry. Unless it is too hard for you to be here, then please don't go. We are here for you, we 'know' you and care about you. Wishing you all of the strength in the coming days and weeks to make whatever decision is best for you, and sending you so much love xxx

Grizzer · 05/11/2015 21:47

So sorry to hear your news Moon. We are here through the good & bad so please don't feel you are bringing anyone down.
We are here to support you through the next step & whatever decision you & dh come to. Lots of love x

brookeberry · 05/11/2015 22:01

moon it sounds like you and dh are strong and you will come to the decision that is right for you. You are never bringing the thread down. I think we all know that this is a rollercoaster of a time in our lives and we are all here to support each other. Much love xx

EagleRay · 05/11/2015 22:16

I'm so very sorry Mooncalf - as the others have said we are all on this journey together, and here for each other in the good and not so good times. I'm glad your DH is being supportive, and hope you get the practical help and advice you need asap. Remember ARC too are very good, and hopefully you can get through to them on the phone if you need to talk things through with them.

I'm thinking of you x Flowers

Ellie2015 · 05/11/2015 22:26

Mooncalf, I'm so so sorry to hear this. Can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through. I have only known u for a brief time but still i can say i would miss a wonderful person if u leave this thread. May God give you and your husband all the strength in this indescribably difficult time xxx

mooncalf · 06/11/2015 08:26

Everyone, thank you so much, it really helps to not feel so alone with it. I really thought before that I knew what I'd do, but its just not that easy a decision when it comes down to it.

Grizzer you said before that after one scare you did go on to have a downs baby - house did you decide, did you know you would go for it anyway? Would you do it again? Not sure if you even want to answer those questions, and maybe this is not the place to ask, but I do feel as if I 'know' you guys and its daunting to ask a while bunch of new people...

Anyway, I'm off for now, lots of reading up to do today!

I guess I have lots of reading to do today, and thinking about what happens next.

Grizzer · 06/11/2015 16:30

Hi Moon, of course it's ok to ask. I have pm'd you.

Sezramum · 06/11/2015 17:12

Hi Moon. I am sorry to hear the results of your Harmony test Flowers. You must have so many things to think about at the moment and it must be very hard for you. It sounds like DH is fabulous so I am glad that you can support each other through this. We are all here for you as well. Sending virtual hugs your way. x

Grizzer · 06/11/2015 18:03

So, John Lewis ad. Who cried? Come on ladies, admit it Grin.

hebs72 · 06/11/2015 18:07

Moon so sorry to hear that. Whatever you decide to do, it must have been a shock for you. Please don't go if you don't want to - when I got my initial 1:4 scan result, I did lots of reading, and I still don't know what we'd have done. So do use us as your sounding board / venting / ranting / crying group if that helps.

mooncalf · 06/11/2015 18:54

Ladies thank you so much again - what would we do without this place? Now, to add an extra dimension to things I have norovirus D: Son had it early in week, so I am blaming him! Dr had given me an anti emetic and I can drink a couple of sips of fluid and keep it down, for which I am most grateful!

Ooh haven't seen John Lewis ad yet, but I always blub. Last years was terrible for it... I will start now if I think too hard about it!

X

EagleRay · 06/11/2015 19:12

So sorry you're poorly Mooncalf - the very last thing you need right now

Re John Lewis ad - I refuse! Stupidly watched last year's one in the office - BIG MISTAKE

Ellie2015 · 06/11/2015 22:03

Hi ladies, i'm getting more and more concerned now..i have been having spotting since we found out bfp (5 days ago). Initially i thought implantation bleed but now am concerned esp when i saw a bit of fresh blood on tissue everytime i went to toilet. I am also having 4/10 kind of on and off heavy feel/pain on back. Really really bloated. Bled a bit from piles too on the tissue. Oops..i am a walking bundle of issues! can any of u reassure me on this as i do not want to worry.. Also has anyone of u has experience with hemorrhoids..i know most of u will say it happened during later pregnancy but for me it happened after 22 weeker abortion and has stayed since and bleeds on and off..:(

Moon, oh u poor thing! Norovirus is a hell..hope u keep ur self well hydrated xx

cloudjumper · 06/11/2015 23:15

Moon Insult to injury for you, poor thing! Hope you feel better soon, norovirus is evil.

Ellie sorry that you are having to deal with yet another worry! Try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know!). Bleeding, spotting, bloating and cramping are all very normal pregnancy symptoms that lots of people experience! But of course it's worrying when you've experienced mcs before... With this pregnancy, I've had all of the symptoms you have listed. Spotting/bleeding from week 5-6 till 10, and I was so worried! But all still going fine so far.
I've also suffered with piles, but nothing worse than itching - I would go to the GP got this ASAP, they will give you something, no need to suffer in silence!
Please also remember that you are more prone to bleeding because you are on aspirin - I'm on both aspirin and heparin, and even a small scratch requires a plaster these days! Also, if you are on progesterone, that could well cause the spotting! Have you tried using the 'back door' for the pessaries? I found that much better, and it might actually help with your piles (lubrication effect...-my constipation only started when I stopped the progesterone).

Just watched the John Lewis ad and yes, I blubbed. Like every year. Will have to make sure hat DS is not around when I watch it...

Ellie2015 · 07/11/2015 12:48

Cloudjumper, thanks so so much. Strangely i tried back door for the progesterone last night and yes touch wood, it was good ....SmileSmile this morning (sorry tmi i know!). I actually had opposite things like it can trap ur wind..worsen the constipation etc etc but it indeed felt like lubricant as u said! Touch wood, no spotting today and only tiny bleed from piles. I'm still having burning sensation around vagina so i have sent a swab, waiting for results. Natural yogurt is working like a miracle drug for it..ooh never like yogurt as much before Wink. I have been to GP and given canestan but its doing nothing. Gp can not think of anything for the piles. My stools are normal on Fybogel and i have lactulose already prescribed but i'm not needing to use them. I feel like a local anaesthetic would be the best way forward but cant use that sadly :(

Hope u all have a lovely weekend xxx

Moon you are in my thoughts and prayers xx
