Eek mslad, I'm sorry I missed your post!
How exciting :)

Thank you Boozle, yeah scans are just worrying! Worth it for the relief but I was tempted to walk out before hand :p

Welcome bythesea! I remember your name from mc threads. So pleased you're hereSmile

Fantastic news treacle. Really delighted all is well. Your movements will step up soon enough and you'll be feeling limbs poking your bladder and see bottoms in your side before you know it!

Nice to see you back gingerSmile

Thepurplegiraffe · 12/05/2015 08:45

Fantastic news on your scan Treacle, you must be so relieved.

So sorry about your job Pizza, what a shock. Hope you can find something else.

Mslad, good luck for Friday, we will all be thinking of you. I had an elcs last time and the people in the room were so good at putting me at my ease that it really wasn't as bad as I expected. DH and I just talked rubbish until dd arrived and that seemed to work pretty well.

bythesea82 · 12/05/2015 10:28

Thanks for the welcome everyone Smile

Good news on the scan treacle, always a relief!

pizza sorry to hear about your job, what horrible timing. I hope you are able to find something else.

mslad good luck for friday.

Littlelady33 · 12/05/2015 11:43

Welcome bythesea I remember you from mc boards so happy to see you here! Oh pizza that's horrendous, what awful timing is there any pay out at all?

pizzakat · 12/05/2015 12:54

Thanks everyone hugs

They've finished me immediately, via my Mum (couldn't even call me themselves)

An absolute cowboy outfit to be honest, no pay out no nothing. Just sitting revamping my CV and trying not to throttle a friend on facebook telling me selling juiceplus will solve all my problems Angry

But remaining positive and focusing on all the happy things to come x

Phryn · 12/05/2015 14:49

Hello ladies Smile

Sorry for being lame and not posting for ages. I've had a bonkers last month in work with a D&V bug and a chest infection one after another for good measure!

I'm finally on mat leave and am 36+3. Feeling much better for it but definately slowing down and feeling more tired.

Welcome new ladies - lovely to see various names I recognise from other threads

Pizza - so sorry for your work stress - really hope something better and brighter comes up soon.

Yay mslad! Huge good luck for Friday!

Whoop for good scan results that have come up recently.

Kind person updating the stats list (so sorry - your name has vanished from my goldfish brain) could you update me?

  • I'm now 33!
  • I'm also a few places lower than I should be with my due date of 6th June. Rather shocked about how high up I am now!

Lovely sunshine here in Brighton - hope it's shining on you to wherever you are. Smile

thesmallbear · 12/05/2015 17:42

Yay! I'm the kind person Phryn. Of course I will update you Smile

I'll do the next stats update when we have news about baby Mslad Smile

Were any of you given a pink tablet (painkiller) when you had medical management of your miscarriage? Does anyone know what this is? I'm a bit worried it was pethidine. I was violently sick, so I don't want pethidine in labour if that's what caused it. It did nothing for the pain either - it was excruciating. Not sure if the vomiting was caused by the painkiller or the pessary, but very keen not to repeat the experience!

Phryn · 12/05/2015 18:25

Thanks smallbear

I don't know the answer to your pink pill question sadly. Hopefully someone will be along in a bit with more info - or could you ask at your next midwife appt?

Mslad · 12/05/2015 18:52

Thanks everyone for your good luck wishes. I still cannot believe I'm this close to the birth.

smallbear sorry I can't answer your question either, but I'm sure you will be able to find out what the hospital gave you. I'd second Phryn and suggest you ask your midwife. I've never had pethidine, but have heard it can be quite an unpleasant experience.

Yay for maternity leave Phyrn

Good to hear you're remaining positive pizza difficult I know Flowers

Gr33dyeggs · 12/05/2015 19:06

Good evening! A quick question..... I'm still getting odd sensations in my right side and more recently it feels like I'm being prodded with something hot there. Any ideas? 16 week Midwife appointment friday can't come soon enough!

gingerbreadmam · 12/05/2015 19:30

is it your side or boob? i had this in my boob couple of weeks ago.

i have a quick question too. if i take a deep breath it is almost like something is pushing against my diaphram. i get an uncomfortable sensation in my mid to lower back too. obv after mmc any niggle is a worry so any reassurance is appreciated. kind of feels like trapped wind or needing the loo but it isnt.

cloudjumper · 12/05/2015 19:31

I think pethidine is an injection, not a pill, I doubt that they gave you that. In any case, it should be all in your file, so they can look up what exactly you had.

thesmallbear · 12/05/2015 19:56

It's just someone on another thread said she'd had a pethidine tablet when she had her medical management. It got me thinking because I heard it can make you sick. I've Googled in and it seems you can get it in tablet form.

Gr33dyeggs · 12/05/2015 20:07

Its in the bump area gingerbread.
You can get random pain in pregnancy - all through with ds I had pains in my rt shoulder/ ribs at the back - perhaps it's similar?

gingerbreadmam · 12/05/2015 20:14

i hope its just random im full on convincing myself theres something going on.

it sounds really silly but i only remember certain parts of my mmc. one of them was this horrible feeling in my back like something was stuck and contractions. this was after i had had failed medical management. now this sensation is making me think its similar to that but really i know its not if you know what i mean. cant help thinking it though.

roll on 20 week scan Grin

broodylicious · 12/05/2015 20:57

How strange, this talk of pethidine - my mum was telling me at the weekend that when she had my sister and I, pethidine was the labour drug. She had it when she had me and said it was the devil drug. She was totally out of it, thought I was a boy, thought my cousin who'd gone to see her in hospital a few days later was her brother...she said she just was off this planet for five days. I'm sure it crosses the placenta too so I was probably a bit groggy as well. Unsurprisingly, when she had my sister a few years later, she refused it! In my list of birth preferences last time (before I knew all of this from my mum), I said absolutely not to administer pethidine and only an epidural if medical reasons.

happygojo · 12/05/2015 21:21

I am a big fan of pethidine, but I wouldn't have it in labour if I could help it. I had it when I was a kid and I damaged my oesphagus and for medical management and I had an injection in my thigh/bum. For my MMC I was just grateful for the haze as I was starting to panic and was in pain. Like all medicine there is a time and a place for pethidine

Welcome to all the new people, this is a lovely thread. Smile

Kep, you asked earlier up thread if anyone had taken aspirin without medical advice? I did, and still do. I read all the research I could get my hands on and knew about the possibility it could interfere with implantation, but I decided to try it so if I had a third early loss, I could tell the miscarriage clinic I'd already tried aspirin.

I've disclosed that I take it to midwives, doctors and my consultant. All midwives were supportive, with the caveat that they couldn't advise me to take it but it wouldn't do any harm. The doctor I saw at EPU was enthusiastic and said she'd have done exactly the same as me. My consultant isn't bothered at all and says that despite my medical history (cancer, chromosome abnormalities and other fun things) I'm not actually in a high risk group for pregnancy where she'd prescribe aspirin, but it doesn't matter at all that I want to take it. I'll have to stop a few weeks before my section but I'm down to taking it every other day now anyway. I took it every day up until 12 weeks.

Obviously it's not recommended to take it without medical advice, but you asked for experiences and that's mine. No-one seems to mind.

I have had a week of worrying. My son's school rang me on Friday to say they think he had slapped cheek (parvovirus). I remembered it could be dangerous in pregnancy and yes, I'm right at the stage where if I caught it, I could potentially pass it to the baby and it could cause problems. The chances are small, but there.

The hospital are testing the last sample of blood they took from me to see if I'm immune. I'll find out Friday or early next week if I have immunity. If I'm not immune, they'll test me again in about three weeks which should show if I caught it. If I did, it's extra scans and checks under Fetal Medicine as there is a chance the baby could develop fetal hydrops and severe anaemia. Sad My friend worked out the likelyhood is something like 8% of passing it on, but I'm anxious anyway so I'm worrying like mad.

I'm booked in for a reassurance scan tomorrow and we're going to find out the sex now I'm 16 weeks, so that will hopefully take my mind off it all.

smallbear checked my boxes from my medical management and I wasn't given pethidene so can't help identify but I know that when I have been given tramadol in tab form I'm very sick but completely fine (and very much appreciated) when given it by injection. This is seemingly very common so don't know if could be the same with your pk that it's just tablet form you can't take.

Thanks for the advice re rash, I didn't go to MW in the end as decided to give it 24 hours being home and rash has now disappeared so I presume I'm fine!

Today's issue is I'm convinced my bump is squint, DH says it's not but I definitely think I'm off centre ??

Good luck for Friday mslad

Gr33dyeggs · 13/05/2015 07:05

What a worrying time somesort. I hope you have a good scan today and baby behaves and lets you know its sex!

cava my bump with my son tended to be off centre towards the end - his back was to the right side.

My son climbed in bed with us this morning and went straight to the bump to give it a stroke. So cute.
