Cloud that's so frustrating, and I bet they won't make an appointment directly with them either. You could try to make one through your GP if you're still having no joy? I feel cross on your behalf ??

Treaclepie19 · 02/06/2015 17:05

How annoying cloud! I hope you manage to get it sorted.

Sunbathing don't feel you have to go, we still want you around :)

I was achey after scans metal.

Glad they've sorted that for you brummie :)

I'm having pain where my appendix scar is today. When I move. I'm guessing it's stretching pains.
Also spent about 20 mins at my mom's with the gas cooker on and unlit, needless to say it worried me. Even though I was in the other room and baby gets all the good bits from me.

Hi ladies,

I've not been posting much recently cause I'm finally a bit more relaxed. 20wk scan a week tomorrow Grin

And my daughter knows she going to be a big sister. Thought we'd been so careful not to discuss in from of her, She's only 2.
But she was telling everyone in nursery that mummy is making her a baby sister. She's very cute about it all

broodylicious · 02/06/2015 17:44

cloud, keep on at the hospital for your appt. It's what I had to do because my last mw for my previous pregnancy was absolutely rubbish. The hospital was ace though and she waded through the stacks of paperwork she had received and found me, then called me back within 15 minutes to give me a date and time. Cannot fault that service.

mrsdiddlydoo · 02/06/2015 19:01

Hope your scans go well tomorrow cherry and boozle. Am I missing someone? Apologies if I am.

Lots of Angry on your behalf cloud. I'm hoping my appointment turns up this week.

Good luck with tomorrow's scans. No news here. Yesterday I felt things might be happening then it all eased off and hasn't returned
Sweep tomorrow then induction on Thursday though. Still feels a bit unreal!

Topsy34 · 03/06/2015 06:13

sunbathing i dont think there is a normal pattern for movement for everyone, each baby is different. As long as you get to know your babys movement, any change from that, whether an increase or decrease.

I volunteer for a charity called 'Count the Kicks' and their web site is really good for info. Aimed at pregnancies when kicks are established.

On another note, i am 16 weeks!! Hooray! Oddly, my morning sickness seems to have kicked back in, no where near as bad but i feel sick the minute i get out bed, and then better once ive eaten. Got my 16 week appointment today.....deep breath and calm! Im going to ask to hear the hearbeat today

broodylicious · 03/06/2015 08:25

topsy, count the kicks is an amazing charity. I've been on the website loads and made all the girls on my AN thread aware of it. There was a story locally about the campaign had saved a baby's life. Enough said, I think...

cherrylola · 03/06/2015 08:57

Can someone tell me how to join the Facebook group? Think I've missed the details and MN on iPhone is sooo crap! Haven't slept well this week, scan tomorrow. Eeeeppp!!!

Zeuxippe · 03/06/2015 09:43

Hello, can I join please? I got quite emotional when I found this thread as I recognise some of the baby mummies like bump kitty from when I joined before past mcs...Been down the acupuncture and chinese medicine route this time, hoping it will swing the odds in my favour!

I'm ten weeks today, my stats are
Zeuxippe DD1, 4 MCS, EDD 30th December.

Congratulations to everyone on their pregnancies and best of luck Flowers

cloudjumper · 03/06/2015 10:43

Hi zeuxippe welcome to the thread! Here's to an uneventful 6 more months... We are almost EDD buddies, I'm due on December 28 (well, at the moment I am anyway, it'll probably change when I get my 12 week scan).

Speaking of 12 week scan, I just managed to get through to my midwife team office, and they promised me that they would send the paperwork over to the hospital today, so that I can get my scan appointment as soon as possible. I'll believe it when I see it... It is such a shambles - the villge where I live is equal distance to 2 hospitals, so we can choose which one to go to. The problem is that all the midwives who cover the village are affiliated with one of the hospital, but not the other. Guess which one I'm going to - yep, the other one. So they often don't really have a clue of how things work at this hospital, or -like here- things fall off the radar, and generally, I sometimes feel they don't seem to care as much as if you'd be going to the other hospital (which they obviously think is better). Sigh...

Metalhead · 03/06/2015 10:58

Shit, shit, shit! The hospital just rang to tell me I've got a high risk of Down's - 1 in 85. Was not expecting that at all, the nuchal measurement was only 1.7mm. My head is spinning, I have no idea what to do now... Sad

Zeuxippe · 03/06/2015 11:07

Hi cloud jumper thanks for the welcome Smile it's lovely to find someone with such a close due date! The scan situation sounds really frustrating. I guess you just have to keep pushing from your end if the midwives aren't sorting things?

Metal head how awful, I can't imagine how you must be feeling. What are your options, is there any chance you could get a harmony test done which I think is lower risk than other tests?? Thinking of you

metal Poor you, your head must be spinning!

Did they give you the break down, ie what brought the risk up ? The Down's risk is calculated as a combination of your age, Papp-A levels and beta-HcG levels in your blood. It might be worth trying to find out, which one of those is the 'odd one out'.
1:85 sounds really scary, and I am sure that the hospital will discuss the options with you. You can look at having at CVS or amniocentesis, which are obviously associated with a small risk of mc, or possibly look into getting the Harmony test? You'd have to pay for this, but it is very accurate, without the associated risks of the invasive procedures.

And lastly, maybe you can find some comfort in the fact that, if you look at it the other way round, a risk of 1:85 equals to a 98.8% chance that everything is fine.

Littlelady33 · 03/06/2015 13:04

Hugs metal that must be very worrying. I had the harmony test at 12wks (my hospital is trialling it for free) and would recommend for the piece of mind? Have they talked you through testing options?

CommanderShepard · 03/06/2015 13:24

Big hugs to you, metal - to put it another way, 1 in 85 is a 99.988% chance of it not being a problem. But I know how scary it is to think that something could be wrong, and my heart goes out to you Flowers

gingerbreadmam · 03/06/2015 13:33

oh metal i hope you are ok. as someone else said if you look at it in another way its not the worst odds but i know that wont stop you worrying. thinking of you.

i have just had my 20wk scan this morning and it didnt go very well. baby has a slight curve to its spine, two club feet and the right leg hasnt developed properly. the curve and club feet alone wouldnt be a worry but as we have all 3 things i have to have an amnio to check for chromosomal things (have completely forgotten the word sorry). the dr doesnt actually thing it is chromosomal so i am clinging onto that with everything i have for the timebeing. petrified of amnio too and the mc risk.

on the plus side everything else was good and healthy and its a boy!

Metalhead · 03/06/2015 13:55

Thanks all. I'm trying to stay positive and think that, as you say, it is only just over a 1% chance that something's actually wrong, but it's such a shock to be told you're considered 'high risk'.

cloud I did ask for the hormone levels and what worries me is that my hcg was through the roof at 9.12. Even if it turns out that baby doesn't have any chromosomal problems, that can't be good surely? And it's hard to find any information on what could be causing it to be so high.

Anyway, we have decided to go for the Harmony test first as I don't want to risk causing the mc of a potentially healthy baby. Got an appointment at the Portland Hospital on Tuesday morning. Obviously if that comes back high risk as well then I'll have to have an amnio...

ginger I'm sorry you've not had a good scan and have to have an amnio as well. Fx everything goes well and the results come back clear. Are these things that could be fixed with surgery or something else if it's not chromosomal?

happygojo · 03/06/2015 14:04

Ginger Flowers I am sorry to hear the scan didn't go as well as you hoped. Babies are very resilient creatures FX your results come clear.
