Welcome aboard ladies - bumps big and small :)

Haha broody, that's a very good point!

I have heard about that llama, not sure what to make of it all to be honest :(

OP posts:
mrsdiddlydoo · 31/05/2015 16:22

Waves to Mary and fizzie!

llama no idea how I'd cope without cbeebies ... And iPlayer for that matter!

Going to have a moan now i'm afraid. My sinuses have been giving me hell for over a week now and I'm tired of it. After a busy trying to be normal yesterday type of day, I have been suffering today. Can barely move off the sofa. Ds even brought me the thermometer when I said mummy feels a bit poorly. A sneaky chip buttie didn't even help. Before I get too much more oh woe pity me... I dared think my boobs are starting to look slightly bigger and my tummy might be growing slightly and i'm the cow who is stick thin and doesn't have one. Clearly now I think I've doomed everything. Fingers crossed my scan date arrives this week.

cloudjumper · 31/05/2015 17:20

Diddly - if you can get hold of it, try NeilMed Sinus Rinse. Amazon sells it, I tried it when I had bad sinusitis a few years ago. Weird at first, but oh, the relief! Can't recommend it enough.

ImnotawitchImyourwife · 31/05/2015 19:33

Oh great, something else to worry about!

My normally pretty kick-ass, if I do say so myself, immune system has taken a hammering this pregnancy (I'm sure it's got something to do with the extra progesterone the consultant has put me on) and I've been getting every bug going. Over a period of four weeks I had two colds, a stomach bug and a vicious ear infection that resisted antibiotics and had me pretty much bedridden for a week. I was taking a full daily dose of paracetamol for the whole of that week. Normally I'd just put up with pain and wouldn't take it unless I absolutely had to, despite being told it was totally safe, but I was in agony and counting down the hours to each dose. Now this research comes out Confused

Congratulations, Sunbathing on the arrival of your baby.Such good news!

It seems that for every study that tells you one thing (the paracetamol) another will say the opposite. I took paracetamol in all of my previous pregnancies : had three very healthy boys.

I have certainly had my eyes opened to the fact that studies vary over the last few days. The scientific literature about yolk sac size is all so different. One study says that anything over 5.5mm is consistent with poor outcomes, then I read that 6mm is the threshold, then today, a more recent study said that anything under 7 mm is ok, then again another study says, as long as it is not misshapen, under 8mm is nothing to worry about.

It has me so confused. Then there's all the anecdotal stuff online. Many women have stories of having enlarged yolk sacs, the biggest one 8.1mm, and having perfectly healthy babies. But for everyone of those stories, there is a story of someone with an enlarged yolk sack who miscarried.

Ultimately my enlarged yolk sac is my story and it could turn out either way.

I have decided to try and wait till 9 weeks to get an ultrasound, as it will give a good idea of where I am at. I believe if all is well at 9 weeks, then there's a very good chance I will not miscarry.

By my dates, I will be 8 weeks tomorrow, but by the ultrasound I would be 7+2. I think my dates are pretty accurate as I was charting, so if I wait till sometime next week, I will have a good idea of what's happening.

For now I have resolved to believe I am pregnant and will try to enjoy it as much as I can without thinking too much about the future.

I have a mountain of marking to do to keep me busy today.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

cloud - when are you going on holiday? I hope DS's birthday went well.

gingerbreadmam · 01/06/2015 07:18

gum i had a 9wk scan this time due to a bleed (i really didnt want one as so scared of them after mmc). the midwife told me once they have seen a healthy beating hb at 9wks there is a less than 5% chance of mc. she basically implied it is very rare to mc after that if everything is well (or maybe thats just how i took it) but i would wait until then like you suggest if you can as you will feel more reassured Thanks

Thepurplegiraffe · 01/06/2015 07:21

That sounds like a really good plan Gum. I had a reassurance scan at 9 1/2 weeks and thought it was a good time to do it. The last thing you want is another scan with so much uncertainty.

Treaclepie19 · 01/06/2015 10:28

Definitely a good plan gum, I definitely felt more positive after my 9+5 scan.

OP posts:
Raffertys · 01/06/2015 10:48

That's a great idea gum. This early pregnancy lark is so bloody hard isn't it? I will have an early scan at 8 weeks this time, but like gingerbread said, I'm shitting a brick about it already.

pizzakat · 01/06/2015 12:20

9 weeks is a great idea gum I was also told stats of a MC drop massively after that xx will keep everything crossed for you!

Hiya to everyone joining us, just caught up after weekend away seeing OHs family... What an experience and unfortunately not a great one! Got very upset when we announced pregnancy and OHs uncle exclaimed "what, again?" And started laughing... Compounded by the fact one of his relatives had just miscarried last week at 6 weeks Sad felt absolutely awful for her once we were told and wished I could teleport home...

TMI possibly but I've just massively freaked out after catching up on posts reading not to DTD before 14 weeks?! Never been told this before, just "did it" for the first time in a few days, went to the loo and a little lump of clear jelly like discharge appeared, followed by pinkish tissue...

Google has assured me not worry and that its in all likelihood normal but my relief from scan last week is disappearing fast

gingerbreadmam · 01/06/2015 12:25

raffertys ive got my 20wk one wednesday and still feel same way its flipping awful. everyone else is excited so i have to kp putting on a brave face Confused

my dp is worse than me so cant even share my anxieties with him as it just spirals massively. cant wait till 9am wednesday when its all over and done.

Raffertys · 01/06/2015 14:03

Massive hugs ginger. You were a huge support to me on the mc boards when I was under an old username. It's so lovely to hear you're approaching your 20 week scan. I will be thinking of you x

Fizzie100 · 01/06/2015 14:15

Ginger hope all goes well on Wednesday for you. I am so nervous about my scan. Despite seeing heartbeat at 7+5 and 9+4 I can't help worrying that something bad may have happened since. I'm 11+5 today. Help...

bythesea82 · 01/06/2015 14:39

mrsD hope you start to feel better soon and also get your scan date.

Re: paracetamol, I quizzed the consultant I saw through A&E after my 3rd miscarriage about paracetamol and he was really pretty adamant that it was fine and unlikely to cause problems but to take sparingly and only if really needed which seemed pretty sensible.

sun congratulations Grin

gum hope you're doing ok.

ginger big hugs, until 2 hours ago I was in your shoes!

Just had my 20 weeks scan which I was really dreading. People kept saying how exciting it was and I just kept thinking how many people I would have to tell if something was wrong. Anyway, it was all fine which was a massive relief. 21+4 today so nice to have tipped the half way mark and know everything is fine.

fizzie do you have your scan date?

gingerbreadmam · 01/06/2015 14:47

thanks ladies. congrats on the good scan today, did you find out the sex?

i know i panic about everything. i hope everything is fine and at that point i can start to relax.

its silly really isnt it. i just stood up and my tummy feels like its stretching bump is getting so big. going by that everything must be going fine in there but just cant help but worry.

fizzie i know the feeling but im sure 12wk scan will be fab!

Fizzie100 · 01/06/2015 15:18

Thanks ginger and yes Bythesea my scan is Wednesday afternoon. Trying to tell myself that after seeing heartbeat at 9+4 the chances of All being good are high. Seeing my parents this weekend and desperately want to give them good news. X

gingerbreadmam · 01/06/2015 15:22

sonographer told me at a 9wk scan i had if all is good at that point it is unlikely to change so im sure you will be fine fizzie altho if ur like me saying that to you probs wont help at all haha!

happygojo · 01/06/2015 15:29

Pizza if DTD caused MC then no-one would ever have babies! A lot of 'preg after MC' ladies don't but I think that is more to do with how vulnerable we feel. Also I have had ZERO libido since POAS. It is more likely that your cervix was a bit irritated and it isn't anything to worry about.

Yay for good scan news and good luck to those with scans this week

Metalhead · 01/06/2015 15:48

Congrats on your scan bythesea!

I had my 12 week one this morning and all was well, we got a good long look at baby as he/she was being very awkward! I kept on having to wiggle my hips and the sonographer was jabbing my tummy with the probe as the little pickle just wouldn't get in the right position for the nuchal measurement. Got there in the end though (and then it took the other lady four attempts to take my blood!). Baby was measuring 4 days ahead of my dates this time so my EDD got moved forward, even though I'm pretty sure the original date is more accurate as I know when I ovulated.

I guess I'd better start believing that this is actually happening now...

bythesea82 · 01/06/2015 15:57

metal great news Grin
I had to do a lot of the hip wiggling as well, not dignified in my opinion!!

fizzie good luck for weds.

ginger no, decided not to find out the sex. Part of me was keen but DH was keen to wait so we went for the surprise option.

gingerbreadmam · 01/06/2015 17:37

pizza i wasnt aware of the no sex thing but at my booking in apt the mw casually said well you wont be dtd if youve mc before. i dont know if she meant out of fear or because you shouldnt and never questioned it tbh.

the discharge etc sounds normal though i wouldnt worry.

lovely hearing the good scan news. my baby was same at my 12wk scan so had to go back few days later to get the little wriggler properly!

aww a nice surprise well that will be fab. we are finding out but only cos i insist on being organised iknowiknow Grin
