Good luck with the scan small!

Sourpuss123 · 29/05/2015 15:23

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I haven't contacted the EPU yet. I know they won't do a scan unless you have had three mc or are bleeding. TBH, I am a bit paralysed with fear at the mo. I would love an early scan if it was going to be good news, but not sure I could cope just yet with a bad one. Head in the sand won't make this go away though. Not sure what to do.

Hugs to all who need them Flowers

treacle, could you possibly be having issues with your gallbladder? You're very young for it to be flaring up but it's a well known issue in pregnancy. I had to have mine out when DD was 18 months and was shocked to hear it was probably pregnancy wotdunnit.

Really short-tempered today. Chewed someone out for deeming a particular high chair dangerous - er, it's the one I have and DD has never come to any harm because - shock - I use my bloody common sense. Also irrationally irritable with people due the same time as me who are buying the entirety of Mothercare when they have at least 13 weeks to go and probably won't use half of it. And even if they do the shops don't shut after you've had your baby! Admittedly this is DC2 for us but we didn't go crazy first time either. I bought a breast pump when it was actually needed. Ah well. If they want to haemorrhage money that's up to them. And breathe...

Had my uterine doppler scan on Wednesday and everything came back fine - no notching or excess resistance. Phew! And found out we're having another girl, which I'm secretly over the moon about (nothing at all against boys! I just never really imagined having one). Feel like I live in the doctors/hospital at the moment - doppler this week, consultant next Thurs, glucose test next Fri then the week after a meeting with the birth afterthoughts midwife to go over my notes from DD. I do feel very well looked after, at least.

Possibly commander, i hadn't thought of that.

Dh's mom has gall bladder cancer though and hers is more to the right, mines been right across the middle. Don't know if that makes a difference?
I'll keep an eye on it, it's not been so bad the past couple of days.

I'm probably one of those people, over prepared by buying everything :p
For me it's helping it to feel real, plus I just like buying things.
Also, come July we won't be able to afford it as I'll move to half pay.

commander, oh I am so with you on the irritability, especially with women who are intent on buying everything they could ever possibly need in the first whole effing year! Calm the fuck down, people! I've lost count the amount of times I've said that actually when the lo is here and dh/dp is back at work, it is the highlight of the day to go to a few shops for something, have a browse and a lovely cup of coffee and slice of cake in peace (if baby drops off to sleep of course!)

CommanderShepard · 29/05/2015 16:36

I will confess to having bought nappies but they were cloth from the NCT sale so not really the same. Hospital stuff I don't plan to think about til at least late July and to be honest we're 20 mins walk from the hospital so actually needing a fully stocked bag is pretty unlikely. DH used to walk up in the mornings with the nappy bucket full of laundered nappies ready for the day's bottom-related activities Grin

Everything I've bought so far has actually been for DD - eg a buggy board and a big girl bed. But most of her stuff was second hand from a friend, so we're already cheap as fuck frugal when it comes to these things.

It's also still so hard to get out of the mindset of being pregnant but not necessarily having a baby at the end of it. She says, with DD2 playing hopscotch on her bladder...

treacle I can say with absolute certainty you are not one of the people ;) my gallbladder pain was on the right, too, so maybe not that. Omeprazole/lansoprazole are a flipping revelation when it comes to stomach pain, if they'll prescribe you that.

broody I hear you on that - ah, the days when I didn't have a self-propelling tornado to manage in the shops! Grin

broodylicious · 29/05/2015 17:00

Absolutely agree, envious - treacle, we are worn out with toddler shit so have probably forgotten the excitement we had last time! Xx

Littlelady33 · 29/05/2015 17:12

My baby buying just hasn't been very practical... I think that bottles nappies etc can be picked up so quickly I can't face storing them in advance in my teeny North London flat! Things That are Not Practical but Are Cute however - always room for them. Bootees, couple of little hats... They've been little treats to myself every time a scan goes well! I don't care if they are impractical and he never wears them I just love looking at them. 32wk check up all good here, nice strong heart beat and my low blood pressure has risen so much as to be almost normal. Still practically fall over every time I stand too fast though.

Haha thanks ladies :p

I'm aware I'm a little baby mad.

My stomach pain isn't as bad, think it's worse when I have coffee?
I'm not surprised anyway, how stressed I'm getting trying to sort maternity pay while off sick it's ridiculous.

I have sooooo much baby stuff as mil is a car boot queen. Sometimes wish she wasn't so good at it and I got to choose my own cute babygros but it has saved us a fortune so can't really moan much.

Some of my antenatal thread had their hospital bags packed in January. I kind of felt like if my baby arrived that early I'd have better things to worry about than whether I'd packed enough maternity pads but I guess it's nice they're excited.

Talking of which maybe I'd better sort dd an overnight bag in case she has to go on a last minute sleepover this weekend!

I have been buying too.... I am starting my hospital bag too. But I only have 1 full pay left, then a 90% pay and then I am onto SMP. But I'm only buying for the first 3 months. Then bubs will write an extremely practical letter to Santa (I can stick a bow on a high chair and say it came from Santa right?) I only spent £60 at Aldi but I did get reusable nappies and a travel cot

Broody big hugs!!!!! Missed you all Grin xxx

Metalhead · 29/05/2015 20:11

Welcome brummie, fx this one is your sticky bean!

I think I might have a sinus infection, I've had a cold now for a week and it doesn't seem to be getting any better; my nose is still blocked up all day, I've got tons of thick yellow snot (sorry TMI) and awful pressure around my forehead. I'm so sick of feeling ill and not being able to take any proper drugs! Sad Ok, self indulgent rant over now.

Treaclepie19 · 29/05/2015 20:14

You've made me all teary brummie xxx So lovely of you to remember.
