Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
happygojo · 18/05/2015 11:22

Yeah I know.... I don't even know why I tried! It was more because I am paranoid about weight gain and gestational diabetes (test next week). Especially as I am so hungry. Baby has always been sat quite low and still is so I still have a good stomach capacity, I was almost counting on her moving up to stop me eating all of the food, all of the time.

I am in work for another 8 weeks (including this week) but I am going down to 3 days per week for the last 4 weeks to use up leave.

Re: the tiredness... I am not 'with it' at all. I have just lot all ability to concentrate! Listen to your body Little, pregnancy may not be an illness but doesn't mean it is easy!

Rebeccaelizabethxo · 18/05/2015 11:27

Scan went amazingly ! In there for nearly 30mins because it wouldn't keep still ! So so happy :) measuring 12+4 so 3 days ahead of what we thought. Can't believe this is actually real :)

Metalhead · 18/05/2015 11:34

Great news Rebecca, very pleased for you!

pizzakat · 18/05/2015 11:36

Wow congratulations Rebecca what an amazing feeling, sounds like you're gonna have a little wriggler on your hands!

cloudjumper · 18/05/2015 12:17

Fab news Rebecca

happy Measuring fundal height is woefully inaccurate, you will find that every time someone different does this, they will get a different reading.

I feel so utterly rotten today, didn't even make it into work. Trying to see the positive side of things, but the thought of at least 4 more weeks of this makes me want to cry.
However, I think that part of this is a bit of an emotional crash after the scan yesterday, I don't think that I realised how anxious I had been. Hopefully, I will be more functional again tomorrow.
Got my booking appointment on Thursday. Not looking forward to filling in the sodding forms again for what will be the 6th time!

mrsdiddlydoo · 18/05/2015 13:10

tori hope everything's going well? Thinking of you

cloud I failed work last week and am waiting for a call back from gp. Combination of all day (and night) nausea plus anxiousness is destroying me. I really thought I could hold it together more than this but clearly can't.

Trying not to feel like a failure or guilty but I just need to focus on me right now.

Rebecca great scan news! Smile enjoy the post scan glow!

Phryn got another private one booked on Wednesday. It's horrible not having a properly flushing toilet. Not long to go until you get it back!

pizza I've had some really bizarre mc related dreams lately. Nothing too scary, in fact one involved a big mn mc get together! Hope yours stop soon

bythesea82 · 18/05/2015 13:25

Great news rebecca

mrsD sorry to hear you're struggling, it's such a hard time. Look after yourself Flowers

cloud same for you, look after yourself, not surprising you had that crash with all the anxiety of the scan. When I had my booking in this time, i asked the midwife if we could do the minimum form filling for what she needed and I said I would do the rest at home if 12 week scan was ok. Worth an ask?

tori hope things are going well

Metalhead · 18/05/2015 13:55

I hear ya cloud and mrsd, I'm feeling pretty rotten again today and really wish I didn't have to work! At least I've only got a 3-day week and then we're off on holiday on Saturday.

Yokyil · 18/05/2015 14:12

Ahh cloud right with you. Feeling rough as anything, this all day sickness is only on day 9 and I'm completely wiped out. Not coping great at all Sad

Yokyil · 18/05/2015 14:12

Probably only another 6/7 weeks of it Noooooooo

pizzakat · 18/05/2015 14:31

Need a little bit of advice

Just got back from booking in, midwife was lovely even though I was in floods of tears (found it really difficult being back there)

She did my height and weight which put my BMI exactly on 18, which she didn't like and said it would put me as high risk... So she knocked a CM off my height to make my BMI higher?

I do trust that they know what's for the best but now I'm at home my mind is in over drive :(

happygojo · 18/05/2015 15:39

Pizza BMI is bollocks all in all, I obviously don't know what you look like or how you are built, the MW does. If someone had a BMI of 35 for example, but obviously had a muscular physique (so not obese, just heavy) and the MW added a cm to their height.... I would think 'good on them' I may be out of order here though so others feel free to correct me.

I DO think you need to make sure you are eating a good diet though, and getting 2,000 to 2,200 healthy calories a day, as in fresh food etc, rather than donuts, chocolate and pizza etc if you can, but to be honest as long as you are eating enough and gain the weight expected in the next few weeks and baby is growing ok, I don't think it will matter.

Just keep an eye on it. Baby will take from you all that they need, even if it is at your expense so they will be fine, but you will need to build up some reserves. It is a marathon not a sprint.

If you are anything like me though, in a few weeks you are going to be HUNGRY! all the time for all of the food. MW probably knows this too.

pizzakat · 18/05/2015 15:53

Thanks jo

I'm on the lower end of the spectrum and have put on 4 lbs in the past 3 weeks which is big for me... As for diet I'm already in insatiable appetite mode, I try to start the day relatively healthily with plenty fruit and veg, though I am rather fond of a pizza or two through on the weekend!

That's made me feel a lot better x

broodylicious · 18/05/2015 15:55

Bmi is absolute tosh pizza. 18 shouldn't be high risk though, surely? In the hospital notes, it classes 35 as high? I wouldn't worry about it anyway, as happy says it's a load of bollocks!

thesmallbear · 18/05/2015 17:30

Lovely to hear your brilliant scan news Haribo and Rebecca.

Oh Tori I am sorry to hear that. You don't need that stress just as you're being induced. I hope everything goes smoothly for you Flowers

Treacle - how busy was the Baby Show on Sunday? It was really busy on Saturday. We decided we wouldn't buy anything until we'd looked round everywhere once, as I was worried a better deal would be around the corner. Huge mistake! It was relatively quite when we saw the snuzpod in the morning, but when we went back in the afternoon to buy it we had to queue for an absolute age!

Went to my first NCT antenatal course on Sunday. It was really good, but has made it all seem more real some how. Like 'holy crap, I actually have to do this.'

My upper back is constantly killing me now. Does anyone have any tips?

mrsdiddlydoo · 18/05/2015 18:23

pizza bmi is a crap way of putting people into categories and as Jo has said it doesn't take your build into account. I was once refused life insurance because my bmi was 17. Yes I'm slim and tall but my weight isn't dangerously low. I wouldn't worry about it at all. I worried about how I might feel putting on weight being pregnant with Ds, but it was fine.

broodylicious · 18/05/2015 20:37

Sorry for this me me me post ladies... I offered advice on my an thread today as they were talking about mat pads for after the birth. In my experience, nothing but massive pants and thick horrible mat pads would work. Thin, normal sanitary towels just don't cut the mustard. In my experience. So when one of the mums said she was planning on using tena lady pants, I offered up my advice about mat pads and tena lady maybe not being able to stand up to that heavy kind of flow with clots etc - which was seconded by another second time mum. Then some other woman jumps in and says "love you ladies sometimes.... Competitive absorption solutions! Who's holds the most bodily fluids and tissue? Why not just tape a sheep to your bottom..." AIBU to actually be a bit pissed off and upset by that comment? I have given birth before and thought I only ever gave advice that people would find useful. Certainly didn't expect such a snarky remark in response! I do know I'm sensitive because hey I'm pregnant but really?! Any need?!

Metalhead · 18/05/2015 21:22

Well, she'll be in for a nice surprise if she rocks up to the birth with normal sanitary pads for after... some people are just idiots, try not to let it get you broody.

Gr33dyeggs · 18/05/2015 21:51

Just popping on wondering how you're doing tori?
I've had a sicky day today so off to bed.

thesmallbear · 18/05/2015 22:41

She sounds like a cow bag broody. Let her leak through her tena ladies if she wants to be a dick Wink

Treaclepie19 · 18/05/2015 22:47

Smallbear, it was very busy!
We did the same. Went all the way round then went back to buy. I could've got more but was amazed that most stuff was still cheaper on amazon!

Also were after the chicco next to me in silver and it's a mothercare exclusive but they're out of stock completely :(

Amyyy27 · 19/05/2015 07:25

broody I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. In fact if they had done even just a little bit of research they would know only mat pads are suitable. Don't feel bad for giving out good advice!

Treaclepie19 · 19/05/2015 07:55

Can i have a little sort of sad moment?
This time last year I was in hospital for the 2nd time in 3 days getting checked out with the miscarriage, on my birthday feeling sorry for myself.
So this morning I'm enjoying having a happy day and being spoilt, with our little boy happily kicking away :)

Broody definitely not being unreasonable!!!
