So heres a thread. Hope you all find it!

Congrats we've made it this far Wine

My worry at 5 weeks is I just feel apathetic and numb. Not excited, not looking forward. Not even fear. Just.... nothing. Constant knicker watch.

Plus wondering whether to push for an early scan and if so when? Losses were 9 and 11 weeks.

im holding off on a early scan as im petrified plus i just keep thinking at a 12 weeks scan things look so baby like it will be nice to see that and have something to come home and show everyone.

Amyyy27 · 05/03/2015 13:14

Hi envious ! So good to see you are doing well! Grin I was hoping for an early scan about 8 weeks, do you have any idea if I am entitled to one with the nhs after having one mmc... or is it tough luck and pay for it privately?

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/03/2015 13:18

Think it's a postcode lottery Amyy. I wasn't allowed a scan even during mmc and was constantly told to go away and wait to see what happened. I had to really really insist that they scanned me. I'm sure they won't give me an early scan but think I'll pay for one around 8 weeks otherwise I'll be dreading my 12 week scan and expecting terrible news.

countessmarkyabitch · 05/03/2015 13:22

It's unlikely Amy, in most places you don't get any different treatment to the norm until 3+ m/c.

Amyyy27 · 05/03/2015 13:26

Guy I know I would hate to think I got the bad news at my 12 week scan... and it does happen!

I didn't think it was likely.. although they were really good with me first time. I had the tiniest bit of blood at 6w and again at 10w (the bad news scan) and they got me in straight away both times.

Will just have to wait and see how this pans out and then ask!

If I remember correctly you can't self refer at mine either, but I was hoping maybe midwife or GP could send me but I think I'm pushing my luck! They are £99 where I live so we will just have to save up and pay it!

I'm probably being over-paranoid already but I remember from last time a long list of food and drink I couldn't have. Its still in my loft but waiting for lazy OH to get it! I will kick his butt up there tonight... but just wondering if anyone knows the major no-no's I should 100% avoid?

Aww thank you envious that's great!

gingerbreadmam · 05/03/2015 15:02

this might sound silly and i vaguely knew but never really thought about it until my booking in yesterday.

chocolate has caffeine in, my midwife told me yesterday a chocolate bar has roughly 50 (whatever the measurment is) of caffeine. i dont drink tea or coffee anyway but i felt guilty about malteasers i eat the night before (half a family bag).

dont know if i posted on here yesterday either but i got a healthy start voucher from the midwife for pregnancy vits for anyone who is thinking about taking them.

I went totally off chocolate in my last pg I'm hoping the same thing happens this time Grin

I've also been drink Aldi's decaff tea and I actually prefer it!

I was told after MC that if I was trying to just keep taking pregnancy or ttc vits, so I have done. I have about a month left of centrum pregnancy vits and then I will have to decide what to buy. Gunna do some research as I keep hearing about pregnacare in a negative light... but then whats so different?

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/03/2015 17:01

I'm going to France this weekend to visit my in laws (dh is French). I don't want to tell anyone I'm pregnant. I will tell mil soon because she is wonderful and brilliant support. But this weekend might be hard because she will notice that I'm not drinking wine or eating foie gras and pate and smoked salmon and delicious cheese
I know she'll notice and she won't say anything because she's lovely and respectful and discreet. But I also don't want her to get her hopes up and given that I haven't even missed my period yet, I don't feel like we can just tell her. Argh.

Amyyy27 · 05/03/2015 17:55

Guy its lovely that she wouldnt say anything. My mil to be is very similar. In fact she has dropped our dog off twice this week to find 2 letters with pregnancy club and a baby clothes magazine in our post and hasnt said a thing. Its actually off my mmc i unsubscribed to all emails but must not have un-joined a couple of things! Damn! Ive never had anything in post until my bfp either its weird. Oh i am so jealous of you going to France! I havent been since i was a kid but i just remember how much i loved the place and have always wanted to go back. I will get round to it one day Smile

MsJupiter · 05/03/2015 18:56

Guy I am in a similar boat as I am going out with my SILs tomorrow on a big night out, of course I won't be drinking and they may notice but I really don't want to talk about it or get their hopes up. My PILs are visiting the following week but that should be easier to keep under wraps. They are very lovely people and have been very supportive to us.

I have always taken pregnacare, what had you heard about them? I've got a big stockpile from the mc pregnancy Sad so was hoping to use them. I took high dose folic acid last time due to high BMI but don't know whether to use those this time. Just want a magic formula to keep my baby...

ReverseTheTrend · 05/03/2015 19:09

had a sort of niggly cramp behind my right pubic bone all day, is that even a thing?

Gr33dyeggs · 05/03/2015 19:37

Not sure reverse?!?

Still no real symptoms here other than maybe increased cm (tmi but find this scary due to the wetness and worry its blood).

We're out Saturday afternoon so I've arranged to need to drive to pick up ds in the evening as my excuse. Wonder if I can get Becks blue shandies discreetly?

I took the boots with ginger vitamins with mc. Just taking folic acid and vitamin d currently.

gingerbreadmam · 05/03/2015 19:57

phew thanks for the reassurance.

i am on the higher folic acid too mrsjupiter midwife said to stay on them and and said take vits as the folic acid in them is so minimal it will be fine, as she said you top your folic acid up naturally too with what you eat.

lovely to hear you all have such supportive in laws. we had to tell my sil as we had drinks plans. weve actually managed to keep it quite close to our chests so far tho jus parents, sil one db and two very close friends.

its one of my best friends 30ths tomo and part of me wants to tell her as i know she'll be so pleased but another part pictures showing her the scan as a better way of telling so im going to try and bite my tongue ha.

Amyyy27 · 05/03/2015 20:30

Oh MsJ just that they make you more nauseous, sorry nothing serious, but i had extremely bad ms last time and dont fancy being any sicker! Im gunna do some research anyway and if they turn out to be the best i will try them. I was taking sevenseas last time but put off thanks to the mmc. Probably not at all related but you know..

Can i ask what is the higher folic acid for? Is it something everybody should take?

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/03/2015 20:36

I think higher folic acid is if these is a higher chance of spona bifida or maybe if higher bmi or if twin pregnancy? I took the recommended 400mg during pregnancy with dd and everything was fine. That said, I don't think there is harm in taking extra is there?

gingerbreadmam · 05/03/2015 20:48

i think it is if your bmi is over 35.

Amyyy27 · 05/03/2015 20:58

Thanks ladies! I will stick to the usual unless MW tells me otherwise then.

gingerbreadmam · 05/03/2015 21:11

think you can only get the 5mg on prescription anyway. i wouldnt worry about it unless you suspect / know ur bmi is around the 35 mark.
